Greek Sea Odyssey Island, New Islands

An Odyssey Awaits!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here with news about a new island on Poptropica Worlds!

Only a day ago, Brave Tomato posted a trailer for an upcoming island, Greek Sea Odyssey, and it’s already here! It came out on mobile that same day, but now it’s available on both the app and browser, so you can play at home or on the go.

worlds greek sea

Right now it’s in early access forย members only, so if you don’t have a membership you’ll have to wait a little longer to play.

Odyssey

So what is Greek Sea Odyssey about? Well, when you drop off the blimp, the first person you meet is Georgios, who explains that people are trying to build a city ruled by its citizens (or a democracy, as your Poptropican points out), but Zeus, ruler of all the Greek gods, keeps interfering. That’s not that unexpected; I mean, Zeus wants to rule all of Poptropica, after all.

The island seems to be a continuation of Mythology Island on Poptropica Original, with all the gods having left Olympus except for Zeus. Athena asks for your help to overthrow him, but in order to do so, you need to — guess what — go on an odyssey across the sea and gather sacred artifacts. Will you topple the great god of Zeus, or will you fall to his wrath? And what do these sacred artifacts include?

I don’t want to go too much into detail because of spoilers, but if you really are dying to find out what happens or need help on a section of the island, you can check out our island guide. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Update:ย There are also Greek Sea Odyssey costumes in the store, including two members only costumes and two costumes for everyone.

unknown-2

From left to right, we have:ย a generic Greek female costume,ย the queen Hera, a skeleton, and emo Icarusโ€”my personal favorite character.ย It’s pretty cool that you can be actual Greek Sea Odyssey characters, and that there’s something for everyone!

What do you think of this island concept? Is it too similar to the classic Mythology Island or do you like the idea of a sort of sequel? And which costumes do you like? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

New Pop Worlds Adventure Trailer! โ€” A storm is coming…

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and I have arisen from the dead yet again to bring you some very exciting news: for the first time in 4 months (7 months if you’re counting solely full islands), a new adventure on Poptropica Worlds is ahead of us.

Guess what, everyone? As the title says: a storm is coming. The trailer for this new adventure had just dropped, so Poptropicans all around the world, brace yourselves, forย Greek Sea Odyssey.

Now, from all two of the preview images that we had gotten so far, we knew that a form of Mythology Island was coming, but it was up in the air as to what form it would be in. The trailer, and its YouTubeย description, seems to imply that this is an entirely new storyline to possibly conclude Zeus’s now three-island arc. Then again, I could be wrong on that assumption. Speaking of the description, here it is!

Set sail on the newest adventure in Poptropica Worlds: Greek Sea Odyssey! Travel through Ancient Greece and beyond in search of the items that will allow you to topple Zeus once and for all!

If I have to guess how this island is going to go beyond “oh no, Zeus is wreaking havoc“, this island seems to be focusing more on a traveling direction, on dare I say, an odyssey. I have a feeling that there will be a series of lands with challenges, each relating to an item that will help in your battle against Zeus. This would likely therefore have somewhat of a Skullduggery Island kind of feel to it, and since one of the most famous stories from Greek Mythology is Homer’s The Odyssey, it would make perfect sense.

Then again, this could also be simply a fresh coat of paint on the story we already know from Mythology Island. Only time will tell on which direction this will go.

As a side note, Zeus has gotten a bit of a design revamp. Alongside his new wardrobe, he’s also looking moreย disheveledย than before:

Whether this is a simple redesigning choice or this appearance was a consequence of being locked up in a sleep chamber for 5 years, this… will take some getting used to for me.

There’s no release date yet, so the most we can do is sit back and see what happens! I know that I’m excitedโ€”after all, Mythology Island was my favorite Island.

Where do you think this will go? Are you excited to finally get something out of the Creators? What about dealing with Zeus… yet again? Make sure to keep posted to the Poptropica Help Blog for more updates, and don’t be afraid to comment!

Pop 5: Books that would make great Poptropica Islands

Hey Poptropicansโ€”this is a guest post by Striped Cactus, who shares about some books that, in her opinion, would make awesome Poptropica Islands. You, too, canย write for the PHBโ€”take a look down below to find out how!

pop5 books as islands

Admit it: weโ€™ve all had a moment when weโ€™ve been watching a movie or reading a book, and then suddenly it hits you that โ€œthis would be a great Poptropica Island!โ€ And then you get distracted by thinking about how the storyline would go, the Poptropicans you would meet, the items you would pick upโ€ฆ No? Just me?

Well, hereโ€™s a Pop 5 list of literary places I wish were in Poptropica. Keep in mind, since Poptropica is technically a โ€œkids’ game,โ€ Iโ€™m keeping my list age-appropriate.

#5: A Wrinkle In Time

red dragon12

Yeah, maybe part of my inspiration for this is the hype for the reboot of the movie coming out soon, but this has always been one of my favorite books, and how awesome would it be to have your Poptropican be a stand-in for Meg, going on adventures with Calvin and Charles-Wallace? I would kill for a Poptropican island for Wrinkle.

Iโ€™m thinking a boss battle with IT comparable to the Red Dragon boss battle at the end of that island (Cloud Dragon vs Fire Dragon), or something like the Steamworks boss battle.

#4: The Lightning Thief

pj1

This is just too good of an opportunity to pass up. Iโ€™ve always dreamed of having a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt for my Poptropican, and Iโ€™m talking outside of that one ad they did for theย Sea of Monstersย ad millennia ago. Iโ€™m thinking spacebar activates Riptide, ya know, with some mini battles every time you have to fight a monsterโ€ฆ It would be a very unique island to the Poptropica universe, but it would be so awesome.

#3: Theย Harry Potter Series

harrypop

Now, if you know me well enough, youโ€™ll know that Iโ€™ve always been on the borderline with Harry Potter. Itโ€™s never been my favorite book series and I never could quite understand the hype that the fans associated with it, but on all levels, I admit the Harry Potter books would make one heck of a Poptropica island. Think getting to choose your own house, a Quidditch mini game, Voldemort boss battle, a scene in the Hogwarts Expressโ€”the opportunities for that are endless.

#2: The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles

tt2

I know few people have heard of this book, but hear me out. Itโ€™s written by Julie Andrews herself (The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins) and itโ€™s a book that changed my life when I was younger, inspiring me to take writing seriously. The plot resembles something I could definitely envision as a Poptropica island.

Three children must learn to submit themselves to their imaginations to travel into something of an alternate dimension where a mystical creature called a Whangdoodle lives, the last of his kind. Guiding them is a man known mostly as โ€œthe professorโ€ and he holds the key to cloning a Whangdoodle, in hopes that there would be more in the future. Sort of like if you mixed Twisted Thicket with Mission Atlantis.

#1: A Tale Dark and Grimm

mcarnival2

A Tale Dark and Grimm still remains my favorite book of all time. Yeah, some parts of it might be a tad bit gruesome for kids. When the book was written, the imagery was left to the imagination, but if youโ€™re seeing some of the stuff described as an animated video game, those could be frightening images.

I mean, grantedโ€ฆ when it comes to the Poptropica Creators, weโ€™re talking about the same creeps (and I say this with love) who made the Jersey Devil that haunted my childhood so, I guess these things are possible. A combination of some of the most classic fairy tales while also providing some valuable and realistic life lessons? Very cool.

Iโ€™d love to hear some of your guysโ€™s ideas for books that would make cool Poptropica islands! Be sure to tell me in the comments. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stay safe out there, everybody.
