The Poppies are our fan-hosted award event for Poptropica fans. During the weeks leading up to the PHB’s birthday on July 26, readers can nominate and vote for their favorites in various categories. Weโll conclude with a party and livestream announcing the results!
After going over your feedback for how to approach the 9th annual Poppies, the votes ended in favor of keeping the event as it was, with a mix of categories about the game itself and the fandom beyond. ๐
We’re now kicking off with a nomination round, where you are invited to suggest the contestants for each category! This round starts now and ends next Sunday, July 14. Nine awards for 9 years of Poppies โ let’s go!

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by HeartOfEnder. Enjoy!
Welcome back to Seven Systems! Apologies, it’s been a while. Letโs do a quick recap of Part 3:
The queenโs knights are patrolling Astro-Knights Island, where the Baron is rumored to be. Tempest awakens a mysterious dragon form while defending the citizens from the queenโs knightsโฆ and thatโs where we left off. Letโs get back into it! (Or start from the beginning here.)
(“Dragon form Tempest” by Solemn-Siren/HeartOfEnder)
THE SEVEN SYSTEMS Part Four: The StormCaller (Continued from Part 3)
TEMPEST, in her new dragon form, immediately leaps into action. She swats a knight that was behind her with one swish of her tail, before leaping into the air and landing on top of the fountain, sharp claws gripped onto the stone.
TEMPEST:
Hear me, knights! You do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, touch the people of this kingdom! You canโt just bring innocent people into a battle they know nothing about, and I will now punish you for it!
TEMPEST jumps off the fountain, landing on the ground and sending a lightning shockwave across the ground, knocking nearby guards off their feet. She immediately leaps back into the air, levitating across the ground as if the air was water.ย
Despite this threat, the knights try to fight back. But they stand no chance against a massive lightning breath from TEMPEST, which also scorches the nearby grass.
TEMPEST continues to gracefully fight the knights, alternating between leaping across the ground and floating in the air. The knights fall one by one, until only a few are left.ย
They try to flee, but TEMPEST has something prepared for them, flying into the sky as it begins to darken and rainโฆย
Something’s brewing over at PHB headquarters, and it’s definitely not coffee. Someone (presumably one of the authors) broke the breakroom’s coffeepot! Who could have committed such an atrocity?! Watch and find out:
…Fishy, how could you?! ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
In all seriousness, I hope you guys like my silly little animatic. I had a lot of fun making it!
The audio comes from a famous scene in the show Parks and Recreation. This particular clip has inspired many parodies, and it was just a matter of time before Poptropica got the “Who Broke It?” treatment.
You may have also noticed some photos in this mostly-illustrated video. The broken coffeepot is lifted straight out of the original Parks and Recreation scene, the cat-ifited Purple Paw image is an edit of Chocolate aka OMG Cat, and the wall at the end features some art of the PHB authors: the current PHB banner by Slanted Fish and a “Draw the Squad” meme by Magic Kid and QueenCookieMonster. ๐ท๐จ
Once again, I hope you like the video (and this post, I guess). You guys are more than welcome to share your Pop creations be it videos, art, or writing! You can post them on social media, on the PHC Discord server, or even on the PHB. We love seeing everyone’s work!
(This post is ripped off-er, lovingly inspired by an article written by parody news platform “The Onion”. Please note the original does contain some contain some mature content!)
With the approach of June and many Pride-themed events, many Poptropicans may be unsure of how to respond to their friends in a way that makes them feel safe and supported. While we cannot speak for every situation, here are some pretty universal things not to do:
1. “Behold! The oracle spoke the truth!”
You can be supportive without mentioning some ancient woman’s prophesy.
