YouTube Gaming remembers Poptropica

History repeats itself โ€” Poptropica’s once again trending on Twitter!

Similar to when this happened last May, mentions of Poptropica picked up steam from an image post that asked people to pick their favorite out of a list of nostalgic kids’ virtual world games from the 2000s. This time, the tweet came from YouTube Gaming, a subsidiary of YouTube.

Plenty of Poptropicans weighed in, including a torn Thinknoodles, Poptropica itself watching the scene unfold with a tea-sipping Amelia, and sister site Coolmath Games, whose support garnered extra bestie points from YouTube Gaming, the original poster.

Meanwhile, Poptropica is putting their best foot forward on their Twitter profile with another one of their odd memes โ€” walking slouched is now “Poptropica posture syndrome.” Watch your back!

Over on the Pop Creators’ Blog, guest writer Golden Horse shared part one of a fanfiction story set after the events of Fairytale Island, before Rumpel’s side quest happened. The fanfic weaves together heroic unicorns, old and new characters inspired by other legends, and a quest to gather items to defeat a great Evil. Read it here!

Rounding off this post, here are the latest fan art features from Pop’s Instagram stories this week. Enjoy! (Protip: The PHB always links to each original IG post, so you can click on the artists’ names to view their work in detail, Poptropica’s comments, and bonus pics if any!)

Keep on poppin’ on!

Poppin’ threads of Poptropica threads ๐Ÿ‘˜

Hey Poptropicans! Perhaps it’s time to brush up your Pop fit game? Tune in for Poptropica fashion made with a healthy dose of Poptropassion!

Beyond the PHB’s Costume Lookbook, a recent Creators’ Blog post from guest writer Pink Crush covers 10 poppin’ styles, with promises of 11 more to come later. You can read more about the thought behind each one on the blog, but here’s an overview of the fits:

For more inspo on the coolest drip, pop on over to this poppin’ fit check thread on Poptropica’s Twitter! Tons of Poptropicans have been sharing their current and favorite outfits from the game.

And here’s a selection of them, including one “2 kewl 4 skewl” from Poptropica’s bestie Coolmath Games! Check out the thread replies for even more creative thoughts on threads.

In addition to the latest store items, the Creators’ Blog also celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a special sighting of Amelia beholding a unicorn. The eagle-eyed might notice that they recycled a previous pic from Amelia’s home to create this one (thanks for the tip, Tough Spinner!).

While there haven’t been any unicorns frolicking in-game (besides our pet customizations), could this be a hint for something to come?

Rounding off the tour of new sights are a collection of Poptropica’s Instagram stories from this past week. Enjoy!

Thanks for poppin’ by! Like what you see? See if it fits!

St. Patropican’s Pies in the Sky ๐Ÿฅง

Happy almost St. Patrick’s Day (this Thursday), Poptropicans! ‘Tis nearly time for the quirky holiday where one puts on green and pinches those who missed the memo. Lucky you who were warned! โ˜˜๏ธ

Adventure Outfitters is still stocking lucky greens, and this week they’ve also added green goodies for pets. See it all on the Creators’ Blog ยป

St. Patrick’s isn’t the only special occasion celebrated by Poptropica this week! Monday, March 14 was Pi Day (3.14…), and Pop marked the event with an irrational graphic of Poptropica pies on their socials.

Also on Instagram, here are the latest character fan art features to grace Poptropica’s stories:

That’s a wrap for this update. Are you sensing a little monotony in the week-by-weeks of Pop life? Don’t miss our recent Open Letter to Poptropica where we discuss the game’s potential for more than our pies in the sky โ€” and share your thoughts in the comments, too!

Zomberries are coming to Roblox! ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽฎ

Hey, Poptropicans! We just received more details about Pop’s upcoming Roblox game. If you have questions about island inspiration, gameplay, or other miscellaneous details, then you’ve come to the right place.

Many fans speculated which classic island inspired this little collab, with the most frequent guess being Monster Carnival. While our guesses were close, Pop’s debut Roblox game is actually based on the similarly spooky Zomberry Island! ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿซ I guess the swan threw us for a loop. ๐Ÿฆข

Sneak peek from Poptropica of their upcoming Roblox game

This crossover event will pit humans and zomberries against each other in an all-new multiplayer experience. Considering the fact that zombie games have a great presence on Roblox, it’s easy to see why Zomberry Island was a prime candidate for a Roblox spinoff. However, it would have been nice to see another island get the spotlight since we got the Zomberry Hero event less than two years ago.

Some fans might also be disappointed that this game won’t prominently display Pop’s storytelling capabilities. While I don’t play or watch anything relating to Roblox, it seems storytelling is not Roblox’s main priority. Plus, we hope the best stories are being saved for Poptropica’s main projects.

Update: Turns out the following featured image is just fan art. Still cool nonetheless!

We also got an inside scoop outside of the Creators’ Blog. DataSigh, a 3D modeler for Roblox, revealed a 3D recreation of Poptropica’s iconic yellow blimp on Twitter. The model looks great, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the game!

DataSigh’s tweet also included one of my own Poptropica illustrations. The original tweet did not credit any artist for the illustration, but proper credit was added after I asked for it. I’m honored that my art was featured by a game developer even if I would have appreciated credit from the beginning. That begs the question: why was fan art included and not any official Poptropica images? ๐Ÿค”

According to their Twitter bio, DataSigh works for Dubit, a games studio with a slight connection to Pop: a former Pop Creator published an article about the game on Dubit’s website back in 2013. It’s possible that Poptropica hired Dubit to create the new Zomberry-inspired Roblox game, or DataSigh might just be a Pop fan โ€” another Roblox project they shared was a boat combat system inspired by Skullduggery Island.

Before I sign off, here’s a reminder that today (March 11) is the last day you can visit the Baron’s airship and purchase the latest collection of curiosities. Grab every item to your liking before the Baron sets off on her next adventure!

If you want your costume design brought to life in Poptropica, why not submit it to March’s costume contest? You can enter via social media or Poptropica’s submissions page until March 21 at 8pm PST/11pm EST.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Taking a gander at all the Poptropaganda

Hey Poptropicans, pop in for the latest pro-tropica propaganda, celebrating the spirit of International Women’s Day, a fan game, and more! โœŠ No misinformation here, we promise. Just spicy tweets. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The Pop Creators celebrated International Women’s Day (March 8) on the official blog, highlighting several female role models: abolitionist leader Harriet Tubman, US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, disability rights advocate Helen Keller, and NASA scientist Katherine Johnson. ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿพ Unlike last year’s celebration of Amelia Earhart, these women have no counterparts in Poptropica, which makes this post a bit off-brand from the rest of the blog. Nevertheless, we stan these queens!

Anyway, over on their Instagram story, Poptropica did put out a more Pop-based post for International Women’s Day with a collage of iconic Poptropica females mostly from islands lost, including the museum curator from Counterfeit Island and Daphne Dreadnaught from the Spook Central minigame. And check out the latest fan art features:

That last one is particularly noteworthy: they’re screenshots from a Poptropica fan game! If you visit the artist’s IG page, you’ll find a link in their bio to Tropican Plaza, a fan-made island built on Unity. The gameplay is just like a typical Poptropica quest, with a storyline (about catching snakes for a fashion show to save a shop owner’s business) and items to collect and use. Play it here, or watch the walkthrough below:

There’s been some pretty cool fan art shared on Twitter lately too (plus an underrated thread of Poptropica animals) โ€” enjoy a beloved Black Widow, OC and other character doodles, and perhaps most stunningly, a recreation of the Binary Bard in Sims 4:

Also, curiously after our post about Poptropica’s Twitter follows being mostly of brands without direct relation to Pop, Poptropica announced that they’ll be doing a follow spree once they hit 10K followers.

With 8.7K followers now, it might be a little while, but Poptropica fans have been dropping their handles just in case the moment comes. And they did follow some of them back already โ€” they’re now at 146 following, nearly 3x more than before!

And remember the big reveal last week of Poptropica making a Roblox game? While no new info has been released, the legendary YouTuber Thinknoodles did take notice. As someone who is known for both Poptropica and Roblox videos, having the two worlds collide is going to make for a pretty special video on his channel! ๐Ÿ‘€

Anyway, we started this post with a Pop pun โ€” let’s end with one too! Were or are you an entrepreneur of Poptropica secrets? ๐Ÿค”

Pop by later, Poptropicans! โœŒ๏ธ
