An Indeterminable Interview with Poptropica Creator, Bucky Lucas ๐Ÿซข๐Ÿ“บ

Bucky Lucas on the big screen

Hello Poptropicans! Today we have a very special surprise guest on the blog: John Jameson, a little-known Poptropica Creator with the pseudonym of Bucky Lucas!

As a longtime Poptropica technician, “Bucky” has had tons of experience and memories working on the game, and it’s our great pleasure to have him share a bit about it with us. Welcome, Bucky!

PHB: Now that Poptropica has moved to Cool Math Games, what are you working on? Are we getting any island updates?

Bucky: Oh y’know, a bit of this, a bit of that. Itโ€™s probably a little dull to get into detail here, but itโ€™s mostly keeping servers up and running. As for updates… umm… *stares off into the distance* oh, did you say something?

PHB: What’s a fun memory you have working on the Poptropica team?

Bucky: Well, there was this one time where Kory and Mitch were in the office and they were having an argument over how the Poptropica comics should go. Something about Oliverโ€™s romance sidequest with a penguin. It resulted in a bunch of coffee being spilled and the work for Survival Island nearly got destroyed, but I was able to save it in time!

A-Maze-Ing: The magistrate made it all the way to the end, but can you?

PHB: What is your favorite island?

Bucky: Iโ€™d say Fairytale Island was the best one I worked on by far, and it’s just brimming with depth! You felt it too, right?

PHB: Could you spill some tea on unreleased details about Poptropica characters? Are there any canon ships that didn’t get published?

Bucky: Well, there is Crawfishโ€™s cannon ship! Ha ha! But I assume you mean like, relationships between characters. I remember there was a discussion about having some flirting between El Mustachio Grande and Zeus during the writing of Super Villain Island, but unfortunately due to the former being cut from the story, this never came to be.

Also, apparently Princess Elyana from Astro-Knights was going to start a fantastic movie career after moving to Back Lot Island, but that was cut as well. She could have been a great example of a career woman, but she only existed to be saved by the player. Too bad, terrible story. I support womenโ€™s rights, and by the way, Iโ€™m currently single too!

Fireside Chat: The very portrait of happiness.

PHB: What is your favorite pizza topping?

Bucky: Hawaiian! I know itโ€™s technically Canadian, which is where I was born, so that makes me feel even closer to it! Itโ€™s like a cultural delicacy.

PHB: What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Bucky: African, European, or Brazillian?

Crane Kick: This bird didn’t make it to Red Dragon Island, but you can see it here.

PHB: Do you wear wigs?

Bucky: I will not confirm or deny.

PHB: Have you worn wigs?

Bucky: I donโ€™t even know what a wig is, but I also donโ€™t know what not a wig is.

PHB: Will you wear wigs?

Bucky: Ok, you got me. But no! Do I look like Director D?

PHB: When will you wear wigs?

Bucky: Yo, I’m not Director D. I lost that Creatorโ€™s phone number in another coffee spill.

PHB: Alright, those were some hard-hitting questions! As we wrap up, are there any final words you’d like to say to all Poptropicans?

Bucky: Oh, what’s that thing you Poptropi-people always say at the end that’s so cute? Pop up? Pop on? Well, I guess it’s time for me to pop off! That’s what the kids say, right? …Right?

Evil, Inc.: Three takes on one villain.

Okay! That certainly was… something. He really popped off there, hmm? ๐Ÿ˜œ

…And just in case you haven’t figured it out yet: April Fools! We hope you enjoyed this little session with today’s totally fictitious star. Thanks for joining us!

Descending Mount Olympus: April Fools! โšก๏ธ

Fear not, folks: Zeus’s reign of terror with Mount Olympus is over, and the Poptropica Help Blog is back to steal his thunder. April Fools! ๐Ÿ—ป๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ถโ€๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

Zeus took over the PHB on April Fools’ Day.

For a while there, it looked like Zeus had managed to conquer both the PHB and PHC, demanding loyalty from Poptropicans everywhere in his freshly extended kingdom of Mount Olympus. But just like his previous domination attempts in Poptropica, we’ve once again thwarted Dr. Jupiter’s plans by regaining access to our site and kicking him off.

Even though Zeus is going to have to admit he can’t force his way to the top spot of the Favorite Poptropica Island Tournament, the Greek god of thunder sure enjoyed his moment of glory in the comments and chat! This Grandpa Thunderpants, as he came to be known, even received fan art from some of his followers (or haters?) on the PHC. Check them out:

A round of thunderous applause for all the Zeus Zealots! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We had a lot of fun bringing you a taste of the second-best Poptropica island on this occasion, and hope you enjoyed the shenanigans celebrating Mythology Island (Classic). (Play it on Steam or Flashpoint!)

Fun fact: The Mount Olympus background was illustrated by Gentle Dolphin for a previous PHB prank. Smart Bubbles helped create this year’s Mount Olympus header.

May Poptropica be as immortal as the zap-happy Zeus!

A MESSAGE FROM ZEUS: WELCOME TO MOUNT OLYMPUS ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ

Foolish mortals, how dare you forsake Mythology Island?! How dare you choose that mismatched menace over me?!

The tournament must have been rigged from the beginning! Why else would the people favor that island? Mythology Island is home to Classical Greek architecture and powerful beings such as myself, while Astr*-Kn*ghts Isl*nd suffers from an identity crisis and is plagued by an equally confused villain. I will stand against this injustice!

From now on, the Poptropica Help Blog shall be known as Mount Olympus! I would have taken over sooner if I had known how to use “Word Press” and “Discord”. I had conquered technology during my time as Dr. Jupiter, but managing a website is on another level.

Oh, and don’t even think about calling your precious authors. I have locked them out of their accounts. It is only fair that they lose their domain as well.

Now that this wretched site is mine, I will give you Poptropican readers four simple rules to follow:

  1. ๐Ÿ› Show respect to your new leader. Write words of worship in the comment section or give yourself the “Zeus Zealot” role on the newly-conquered Mount Olympus Chat Discord server.
  2. โšก๏ธ Only discuss Mythology Island. Never mention other islands unless in a mocking manner, especially the false winner of the tournament.
  3. ๐ŸŒ„ Send photographic offerings. Like other gods, I favor certain offerings. You may send photographs of my favorite things: lightning bolts, eagles, bulls, and oak trees.
  4. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Build temples. I encourage you lot to build temples and expand the Mythology Empire. You may construct them on gaming platforms like Poptropica Realms, Roblox, or Minecraft. If these are not available to you, you may draw schematics or sculpt them with supplies at hand.

Obey these rules, and I will spare you from my wrath. Bow before Zeus, the god of thunder!

Amelia says April Fools ๐Ÿ’‹

Bonjour, Poptropicans! You can’t trust everything you read in the tabloids, and in the case of one recent story of ours, the announcement of a TV show starring Amelia was just fake news. April Fools!

We hope our little joke featuring the most iconic Home Islander gave you a good laugh. While “Amelia in Poptropica” isn’t real, it is inspired by an actual Netflix series: the trashy yet entertaining “Emily in Paris” (for ages 17+), also featuring an influencer who insists on her way.

So while we’re here, why don’t we check with our girl on her thoughts to your questions? Let’s pass the mic over to Amelia:

Buying up Home Island might seem like a lot, but it’s really just a small town, a place for Poptropicans to pass through in between adventures. If you know me, you know I’ve always had a dream to outfit the people of Poptropica. Besides, it’s not about how many items are stocked; you can cultivate a great wardrobe with just a few favorite pieces.

Oh, and the others? I like the Baron, but I’m not really sure the Baron likes me. You wonder about the disappearance of Monkey Wrench, right? It’s her wretched wrench-throwing that killed the Flying Ace Race โ€” this is why we can’t have nice things! And she’s not the only one with a vengeance. Myron van Buren tried to steal my unicโ€”I mean, secret package I had out in the woods!!

Amelia

You can see how Amelia’s main character syndrome could inspire a binge-worthy show, right? Though we can’t make it a reality, we hope the daydream could ameliorate your day with some fun. Au revoir! ๐Ÿ˜˜

The PHB Presents: Amelia in Poptropica ๐Ÿ“บ

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post withโ€”Amelia in Poptropica?! Yup, the one and only. Weโ€™ll let her take it awayโ€ฆ

Bonjour, Poptropicans, itโ€™s Amelia! You remember me, right?

Ya girl from Home Island is about to go BIG! I mean, Iโ€™m already pretty pops on Pop, but things are about to get bigger. Today Iโ€™m chuffed to announce that I, Amelia Earhart, am partnering with the Poptropica Help Blog for an exclusive TV series all about my life in Poptropica!

The showโ€™s got everything: comedy, drama, unicorns, rivalry, and even romance (guess which ones the infamous Baron is tangled up in?). And in this series, Iโ€™ve got a big ambition: expansion. Not of islands โ€” you donโ€™t really still think Poptropica is bringing any new islands ashore, do you? โ€” rather, the time is ripe to expand my brand. Weekly store rotations were just the beginning!

Right now, my store Adventure Outfitters is just a little building on Home Island, but Iโ€™ve got plans to bring it to every island on Poptropica. Itโ€™s going to be a massive business, and no ringarde sky pirate with an ephemeral curiosity cabin is going to be able to mess with that!

Iโ€™m also embarking on my journey as an influencer, bringing my native Home Island perspective to all the other islands of Poptropica. (Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™ll love me.) Along the way, Iโ€™ll be documenting my trรจs bien girlboss adventures on social media. Follow me! Hereโ€™s a preview with some behind-the-scenes shots from this exciting upcoming series:

Anyway, Amelia in Poptropica premieres here on the PHB on April 31 and I canโ€™t wait for you all to watch it! Until then, au revoir! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Unicorns in ubiquity,
Amelia in Poptropica ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿฆ„

Hope you enjoyed this, uh, totally legitimate guest post from the Poptropica aviator icon herself, Amelia Earhart. If you did, tell her what you hope to see in her show! Amelia loves hearing from her fansโ€”who doesn’t?

The Poptropica Help Blog welcomes interesting Poptropica insights from anyone in the Poptropica community with thoughts to share. Interested in writing for the PHB? Weโ€™d love to hear from you!
