*Not to be confused with Mythology Island (Haxe).
Welcome to Mythology Island, land of the Greek gods and goddesses! Enter the Museum of Olympus and head right. A little cutscene will play, introducing the feud between the main gods: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.
Once that’s done playing, keep going right until you find the area with the statues. Find Poseidon’s statue and take the pink Starfish off of it.

Then leave the museum and walk left to the sign labeled “Tree of Immortality”.
Tree of Immortality
Climb up the stone steps and you’ll reach an area where you can go up to a large tree. Keep going until you find a satyr (half-human, half-goat). He’ll be waiting for you in the top right corner of the huge tree.
The satyr will tell you that nymphs have stolen his honey and have hidden his honey around the tree. You have 100 seconds to race around the tree and retrieve 10 pots of honey for him. Then he’ll reveal to you a new secret path. Climb up on it, get to the tip of the branch, and grab the Golden Apple — the fruit of the gods.

The Greek god Zeus will descend from a sky of darkness and speak to you, offering you immortality in exchange for five sacred items. When he leaves, take the Sacred Items Scroll. Examine it to find out what you need to collect for Zeus.

Leave the tree and go right. The goddess Athena (who was previously disguised as an old lady) will be waiting for you. Talk to her, and she will tell you to look to the olive trees for help – whenever you see a glowing olive in the trees, you can click on it to receive a hint from her. Or, you know, you can use this walkthrough for more direct steps.

Anyway, on with the quest for the five sacred items!
Apollo’s Temple
Go right, past Athena, then past Main Street, until you get to the Grove of Temples. Enter the first temple – Apollo’s temple. Head all the way to the right and take a Reed Pipe.

Then jump up and talk to the statue holding a reed pipe – that’s Euterpe, the Muse of music.

She will teach you a song, but you must prove to her that you are a worthy musician. As part of this process, she’ll play notes on the reed pipe and you must click on the exact same sequence of notes to imitate her. (It’s different for every player.) Every time you get it right, she will add one more note to the end of the sequence, and on it goes until the last sequence of about ten notes.
If you are successful, you’ll learn the Pipe Tune, which will come in handy later.
Poseidon’s Temple
Exit Apollo’s temple and keep going right, past Hades’ temple in the ground, to the Temple of Poseidon. Enter Poseidon’s temple, and use the Starfish from the museum beside the altar as an offering to open the door.
Go inside and head left down the beach. There you will find Aphrodite, who will have you guess the names of various Greek gods and goddesses.

For your reference, here’s the order that Aphrodite asks you to guess them in:
- Ares
- Hermes
- Aphrodite
- Artemis
- Hestia
- Apollo
When you’ve got them all right, she’ll give you a Teleportation Mirror.
Hydra’s Scale
Now, dive into the water to the left of Aphrodite and go through the underwater maze. Collect bubbles on your way to regain oxygen (if you run out of oxygen, you’ll have to start the maze over). At the bottom of the sea is the entrance to a cave with a sign warning of a “gnarly monster”. It’s the Hydra’s cave!
Enter the cave and run left to where the five-headed Hydra is chained. To defeat the Hydra, just wait for it to strike, then jump on a head to knock it out. Do this for all five heads to knock it out completely. Then, click on the defeated Hydra. You will obtain an item for Zeus’s list: the Hydra’s Scale.

Giant Pearl
Leave the Hydra’s cave. Back underwater in Poseidon’s realm, there should be a giant clam near the cave that opens and closes. There’s a giant pearl inside it, and it’s one of the items you need to get for Zeus. Wait for it to open and swim in to take the Giant Pearl. You will now have another sacred item.

Garden of the Sphinx: Rare Flower
Head to the Garden of the Sphinx (left of the Tree of Immortality). Tip: Use the Teleportation Mirror to teleport to the gate at Main Street (lightning bolt icon), and from there, it’ll be faster to head left where you need to go.
Once at the garden, talk to the colorful Sphinx there. In her own mysterious riddle, she’ll let you know that you may take the flower if you can water it. To do so, hop up to the top left corner where the aqueducts begin. Activate the aqueducts by pulling the levers in the right direction and lowering the bridges until the water is flowing in a path all the way down to the rose flower.

Once that’s done, take the Rare Flower and you will have another one of the sacred items Zeus needs.

Don’t forget to jump left above the Sphinx and grab the Pomegranates, which will come in handy later.
Ring from the Minotaur
To the left side of the Garden of the Sphinx is the entrance to the Minotaur’s maze. Play music using your Reed Pipe to open the door. Match your notes corresponding to the colors numbered in order on the door: blue, blue, green, yellow, yellow, red, blue, green.
Enter and ask the Minotaur for his nose ring. He’ll tell you that he only grants favors to those who can make it through the Labyrinth, so you’ll need to make it out of the maze without getting lost!

Upon entering, Athena will give you some magical thread to keep track of your movement. Here’s a map to show how you should navigate through the Minotaur’s maze:

Eventually as you go through the maze, you will run into a ghostly figure who calls himself Pan. Pan gives you some advice about the pillar puzzle above him. Click on the pillar, which has 15 bones. The riddle tells you to take 6 bones away and still leave 10. To solve this, remove six of the bones so that the remaining bones spell out the word “TEN”, like so:

Keep progressing through the maze and go through the exit. In the next room, go right and click on the board on the wall with holes in it. Sneaky snakes will spring up from the holes. To complete this challenge, you’ll need to click on the fast-moving red-eyed snake three times. Once that’s done, you can exit the maze. Talk to the Minotaur to obtain another sacred item: Ring from the Minotaur. But he’ll give you a warning…

Zeus can’t be trusted? Hmm…
Whisker from Cerberus
You may have noticed the sign saying “These pomegranates are to die for!” Well, in a way, it’s not just about how awesome their pomegranate punch is – this is also a clue.

Head over to the Grove of Temples again. This time, drop down to the temple of Hades, the god of the underworld. Talk to the kid there, and he’ll offer you a Drachma coin if you’ll help him clean off the graffiti. To clean off the graffiti, click on the vandalized spots on Hades’ temple and scrub it clean by swiping with your mouse. There are three spots to clean. Once you’re done, talk to the kid again, and he’ll give you a Drachma.

Now, enter the temple of Hades. Head right and use the pomegranates from the Garden of the Sphinx on the altar as an offering. The door to the pit of Hades will open.

Enter and jump all the way down the deep, dark abyss. You will reappear at the River Styx at the bottom of the pit. Tell the ferryman, Charon, that you’re ready to make the journey across.

And so begins the dangerous journey through the ominous green lake…
- Avoid the falling stalactites by moving away from the general direction they’re headed!
- Duck away from the flaming skulls by crouching down low so they’ll miss your head! Or wait for the skulls to dive towards you, then jump quickly.
- Jump up high when you see a river monster heading towards you to get away from their attack!
- The order is simply that: falling stalactite, flaming skull, river monster – this pattern happens five times, and if you survive, you’ll make it to the other side!
- Don’t use any items from the Poptropica Store, because it slows down movement. (If you’re willing to take that risk, then try using the Minimizer item which makes it easier to avoid obstacles!)
Your main objective here is to stay on the boat and not fall into the river, long enough for Charon to take you to the other side. If your soul gets claimed by the River Styx, just keep trying!
Once you reach land, walk over to Cerberus, the three-headed dog. Use your Reed Pipe to play the Pipe Tune you picked up earlier. For your reference, the order is blue, green, yellow, blue, red, and green. When you play these notes in the right order, Cerberus will fall asleep. Click on the restful doggo to obtain a Whisker from Cerberus — the last item you need for Zeus.

Go back to the area with the Tree of Immortality (tip: use your Touchscreen Mirror to teleport to Main Street via the lightning bolt icon) and talk to Athena. She will tell you to examine the message attached to the five sacred items. Assemble the five clues to form this sentence: “Whoever wields the five sacred items will rule all of Poptropica!”

Zeus will appear and steal the sacred items from you. Talk to Athena again, and she’ll urge you to talk to Hercules at Herc’s Hero Hut on Main Street. Inside the hut, to the right, is Hercules, still chilling without a care in the world.

Explain what’s going on, and he will finally agree to help. There’s not much time to lose!
Hercules’ Help
Use the Touchscreen Mirror to take Hercules to Poseidon’s realm. Back in the underwater maze, Hercules will use his mighty foot to strike down a rock, opening up an entrance to Poseidon’s palace. Enter the throne room and ask the water god Poseidon for his help. You’ll receive Poseidon’s Trident.

(Note: For these next few tasks, if Hercules doesn’t follow you, you’ll find him back in Herc’s Hero Hut. Make sure to teleport with him.)
Go back to the underwater maze out and speak to Hercules again. Using the mirror, teleport yourselves to Hades’ realm. Click on the huge stone blocking the doorway to Hades’ throne room, and Hercules will push it away for you with ease. Inside Hades’ throne room, ask the god of the underworld for his help. You’ll get Hades’ Crown.

Go outside again and use the Teleportation Mirror to select the area with the lightning bolt on it. Hercules will use his muscular might to smash the padlock away from the gate to Mount Olympus.
Enter. Your character will see a little snake on the grass and freak out over it. Thinking it’s no big deal, Hercules will attempt to get rid of it. It turns out to be the furious snake-headed Medusa, who is so angry she turns Hercules into a stone statue. Yikes.

Walk right to the mountainous area and talk to the giant selling bags of wind at Aeolus’ Wind Wagon. Use your Drachma to buy a Bag of Wind from him.

Aeolus will give you a wind boost to get you flying higher up, and you’ll be able to reach Zeus’s throne by climbing up a little further.
Zeus: the Final Battle
Inside the dark throne room, walk around and light up all four statues of Zeus by walking up to them. When that happens, Zeus will challenge you to battle.

At this time, your character will use the powers of Hades’ crown and Poseidon’s trident combined. Here are some tips for this final boss fight:
- When it’s safe, get near Zeus and rapidly click in his direction to fire bolts of lightning at him. A health bar below his feet will show you how much damage still needs to be done to defeat him.
- Listen to the sounds to know what attack Zeus is using. If it has an electrical traveling sound, that means he’s got that invisibility blockade on him right now. When Zeus is throwing his electric round mini-clouds, try to fly around him, or around the screen.
- When Zeus throws his 8 lightning bolts, retreat and you can pass through the lightning.
- When he is about to charge at you, get away from him as fast as possible, then return to rapidly shoot at him.
- If you have only a few pink clouds left, retreat and recollect some pink clouds. If you lose all your pink clouds, you lose the battle. The pink clouds keep you in the air so you don’t fall off from flying around.
- When Zeus has the white electrify power on him (when he’s throwing the electric miniclouds and/or about to charge) don’t shoot him; your shots will rebound on you.
- Try not to touch Zeus in the battle; he hurts you in some way if you get too close to him.
Once you’ve successfully defeated Zeus, Athena will award you the Mythology Island Medallion and credits to spend at the Poptropica Store! Congratulations!

- Mythology Island was re-released for Steam on May 25, 2022.
- Common room: Midas’ Gym
- The villain, Zeus, reappears in the final battle of Super Villain Island, and the fight is similar to that of Mythology Island.
- Mythology Island is inspired by Greek mythology, with gods such as Athena, Zeus, Poseidon, and creatures such as satyrs and Minotaur.
- The silver drachma coin you receive says “AOE” (with a dash inside the O), which spells the letters alpha theta epsilon in Greek. It means “of the Athenians” or “children of Athena”.
- Hercules is called by his Roman name rather than his Greek name, Heracles.
- The Bag of Wind from Aeolus’ Wind Wagon is a reference to Homer’s The Odyssey. In it, Aeolus gives Odysseus a bag of wind, but his crew opens it too early and their ship is blown far away just as they were about to reach Ithaca.
- Members get additional Mythology Cyclops and Icarus Costumes.

I played the song to Cerberus, but he didn’t fall asleep. What do I do
you didnt play it right
Lol why can’t I take off Hades’s crown?
DO NOT IT IS WAYYYYY TO CUTE
OMG IKRRRRRR !!!!!!
But i like it, i show it off on home island!
You gotta go back to the island, and click your backpack, then click take off on the crown.
I can’t go past the grove of temples, the satyr says I need to be on an errand of the gods, but I’ve already gotten the Minotaur’s ring and the Sphinx’s rose. I even have the pomegranates for Hades and the starfish for Poseidon.
Make sure you’ve talked to Zeus at the Tree of Immortality.
If you mean to collect the sacred scroll and the golden apple, I already did that.
same thing happened to me. i searched it up and turns out it’s a glitch that can only be fixed by restarting the island:(

Same.
When I’m finally able to get Hercules to help me the mirror won’t work and my screen will freeze, what do I do
Sounds like a glitch. Try contacting Poptropica support for assistance.
I already used my bag of wind but I didn’t make it up. What do I do??
U use a refill.
I just did it with out it and got to the top.
I’ve tried multiple walk through’s and none of them have helped me get past the satyr. I’ve gotten the music notes, the Minotaur’s ring, the Sphinx’s rose, the pomegranates, the starfish that was on Poseidon, and the Scroll, and i still can’t get passed him. I literally don’t know what to do.
you need the pearl, the minotaur ring, the hydra scale, the Cerberus nose hair, and the sphinx rose. you have to put the starfish on the posiden altar, and the pomegranates on the hades altar. It legit says this in the walkthrough. Please read the walkthrough again and tell me what you have. You’re welcome.
Where do I get the Drachma??
You clean the graffiti on the hades temple, and the guy doing the job will pay you one drachma.
I didn’t receive the drachma from the guy. I received the starfish. What should I do?
you get the starfish in the newer version.
read the title.
it says classic.
How do I get Hercules to Poseidon’s realm? I need him to break that rock blocking me from it, but to get near his realm I have to go to Aphrodite first. Every time I click on her, he tells me he doesn’t want to see her.
Use the teleportation mirror to transport yourself to Poseidon’s realm, and Hercules should come with you.
I have made it through smoothly.IT IS GOING SO GREATTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm, fish, when I go to to get Hercules after I’ve lost the items which zeus stole Hercules still won’t help. Is it a glitch or a bug? Oh and merry Xmas!!! 😀🎄🎅
That would be a glitch (and a bug is the same thing). Contact Poptropica support for help!
aaaaaa I cant get past the flaming skull!!!!
Okay, I had problems with this too! So I learned this:
First(like when you first begin),you go very carefully (but not slowly because the challenge begin soon)to the end of the boat(Not too far or you’ll fall), then you can wait for the fire. When it comes near you you jump straight up! If you fall then next time you try you jump forward. But once you get past the crazy fire thingy you return to the end of the boat or else you’ll get bumped by the weird dragon thingy that will come next. The just repeat. If you can’t do it the first time it’s normal. I had to do 3 times before I did it! Just keep trying!
Sorry I forgot about the falling rock…the moving to end of boat is to prevent you from getting bombed by the rock
Oof and if you move to the end of boat the dragon won’t hit you either he will just miss
I can’t seem to go diving to get the pearl, Aphrodite has given me the mirror but i cant go diving
wait how are you all still playing ?? I can’t find the island on the poptropica website anymore
Mythology Island is still playable if you log in to Poptropica (top right on the homepage), but it’s not on the latest Haxe Javascript version of Poptropica that shows up if you simply click “play for free” on the homepage.
um i used the lightning bolt with the mirror but herc did not teloport with me what do i do?
um i payed then it took me off now i cant do it
thanks
Talk to herc then teleport
@ Aubrey
Hi. So i left the game when u hercules opens the lock, but when i got back, I had all the items that Zeus stole, and hercules wouldn’t open the lock. How can this be fixed?
I would try going back and talking to Athena again. Perhaps that’s where your game last saved. If that doesn’t work, I suggest contacting the Poptropica creators.
YASSSS
I can’t find the starfish 😦
If you’re playing in Flash, the starfish is on Poseidon’s statue like this guide says. But if you’re playing in Haxe, the starfish is given to you after you clean off the graffiti on Hades’ temple. We’ll have a guide soon for the Haxe version of Mythology. If you’re confused, read here about the differences between Flash and Haxe.
😀
You don’t have the starfish in the haxe version.
Sorry, drachma
I don’t think this walkthrough is completely accurate. You get the starfish from the boy at Hades house, not from Posiedons statue.
Tough Tomato, this is the guide for the original Mythology island. On this one, you get it from Poseidon’s statue. You’re thinking of the Haxe version.
Yup, this is for the classic Mythology Island available via Flashpoint. You can find our Mythology Island Guide for Haxe here.
does herc just stay a statue?
As far as I know, yeah, but maybe he’ll break free one day!
He’s HERCULES, he’s the strongest person alive, he’ll definitely break free one day!
I don’t know if I am imagining it, but I swear there was once a bonus quest to free Hercules on Mythology Island. I have no idea what you had to do as I was not a member at the time, but I remember wanting to be a member so I could know what happened. Does any body else remember this or know what happened?
Sorry — Mythology Island has never had a bonus quest. However, you might be thinking of the bonus quest for Super Villain Island, where you enter the dreams of Zeus from Mythology. Islands released from around 2012–2014 have bonus quests, and we have guides for them on their Island Guide pages. 🙂
