Engineering with a Monkey Wrench

(Hey Poptropicans! Today’s news is brought to you in a guest post by Tall Cactus, who also runs her own Poptropica blogย and frequently visits the PHB chat now on Discord. Hope you enjoy! โ€“slantedfish)

Hello Poptropicans! Itโ€™s me, Tall Cactus, and I have some news to share with you!

First of all, the name of the mysterious upcoming island has finally been revealed. If you go to your medallion list, youโ€™ll see this… Yup, its name is Monkey Wrench Island!ย

monkey wrench island

Now, this could be a code name that may later change, but either way,ย I was not expecting that. I thought it would be called something like Castaway Island. Maybeย we’llย get an official announcement sometime this week about what’s likely to be the new tutorial upgrade!

โ€“

In other news, in celebration of National Engineers Week, Poptropica is offering 300 credits for first-time completions of various science-themed islands! That’s twice as much as the usual 150! The specialย islands areย Steamworks, Lunar Colony, Shrink Ray, andย Virus Hunter Island, and again, it must be your first time finishing them to win the extra credits.ย (Click the island names for guides!)

However, this ends on February 27th (Saturday), so make sure to get the extra credits if you can! You could win up to 1200 credits for these four islands! I, on the other hand, have already completed all of those islands, so I get nothing.

300 credits

Thatโ€™s all for now. See you guys soon!

Steamworks Island

Steamworks is out for all!

Don't hurt me! I'm just a cute little crab... :3

Members. I’m sorry to say this, but….

Steamworks Island is now online!

Steamworks Island is now open to everybody!

Can you solve the mystery of this deserted Island? There’s only one way to find out!

SHARK BOY

Poor members…now steamworks is not a mystery. But at least pumpkin island will come for members first! >:D We own your souls! BWA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAA!!!

*ahem* But uh. Short, sweet update. Cheers.

Steamworks Island

Any mindless baboon would see the error in this post. >.<

Captain Crawfish: Are you calling me a mindless baboon?

Green Boa: Technically, no. I’m calling you worse than a mindless baboon. Because a mindless baboon can see the error, and you can’t.

Captain Crawfish: Why you insulent little-

Green Boa: Nommer? >:D

Captain Crawfish: Now don’t start that again. You PHB freaks might’ve just eliminated Captain Crawfish I and II, but I’m Captain Crawfish III, the upgraded version.

Green Boa: Upgraded taste? Woo!

Captain Crawfish: Upgraded strength and intelligence, excuse me.

Green Boa: If your intelligence is so upgraded, let’s see if you can find your mistake…

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

I spent so much time fooling around on Steamworks Island that I completely forgot about trying to finish the quest! And now here we are, on the eve of the Island opening to everybody, that I can’t even brag anymore about being a Member and having Early Access. C’est la vie.

Anywho, I was intrigued in my travels to come across this strange sort of lever on Steamworks Island.

One side was clearly much longer than the other.

Standing on that side did nothing.

Odd. But standing on the other side…

It began to drop!

Once I reached the bottom, the whole thing locked into place.

Right then, I really, truly was ready to stop messing around and get started on my Steamworks Island adventure. But look at that! Early Access is already almost over, and soon the floodgates will open.

We hope everybody enjoys Steamworks Island when it opens to the public tomorrow!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

Captain Crawfish: Uhhh, my head’s too big?
Green Boa: O___________0
Captain Crawfish: Well you tell me then, Mr Icanprancearoundinanerdyicecreamconeandaccusepiratesofbeingbadcostumes genius!
Green Boa: Anyone could tell that the longer side would go down a lot faster than the short side. The longer the lever, the more leverage. More leverage= easier lifting. The fantastic Greek scientist Archameidies once said: “With a lever long enough I could lift the world!”
Captain Crawfish: Grrrrr.
Green Boa: ๐Ÿ™‚
ย
Captain Crawfish: So? A little mistake. So what?
Green Boa: Soooo poptropica should be educational. Punish the pirate! Punish the pirate!
Captain Crawfish: Arrrr, what can you do? Make me walk the plank? I’m Captain Crawfish III remember? I’m protected from that rubbish.
Green Boa: Oh. We better stick with Plan A then.
Captain Crawfish: And what’s that?
Green Boa: *opens jaw* Aaaaarh.
Captain Crawfish: Aaaaaaaaargh! *runs*
Green Boa: NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM. *afterwoods* Mmm, yum. Defienetly upgraded taste. ๐Ÿ˜€
I sure hope the creators have more CCs in store, because Captain Crawfish III might’ve been protected from walking the plank, but he was prone to NOMNOM NOMMERS!
Steamworks Island

Round and round and round and round and round.

EL: Welcome to the 4th log to captain crawfish’s dull travelogue.
Crawfish:
Hey!
EL:
Moving on!

Captain Crawfish’s Steamworks Island travelogue, part 4

Steamworks Island is a creepy place, but that’s no reason you can’t have fun there. I found one rotating platform that reminded me of a Ferris Wheel.

Round and round we go…

Where we stop…

Nobody knows!

Actually, you don’t stop. This thing will keep going as long as you want to ride it. Don’t worry about finding anybody. Just ride those G-forces!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

EL: -_-
Crawfish: What?
EL: You suck at this. Post stuff about pumpkin island!
Crawfish: But the poptropicans who don’t have membership want to-
EL: NO! You’re ruining the surprise. They’ll be bored on September 9th.
Crawfish: Fine.
EL: Good.
Crawfish: I’m a PC.
EL: >:0
Crawfish: o.o
EL: DIE!! *kills crawfish* Mac FTW.
No Pirates were hurt in the making of this film.
Steamworks Island

Somebody got their job stolen~

Isn’t exploring islands Vlad the Viking’s job?! But no, Crawfish takes on the task now. Poor Vlad… Wonder how much he got paid.

Captain Crawfish’s Steamworks Island travelogue, part 3

Steamworks Island opens to everyone this week! If you’re not excited, better make sure your heart’s still beating.

During my trip to the Island, I explored all the different ways to get around. Steamworks Island has so many fun little things tucked in that it’s hard to catch them all. But this one was impossible to miss.

A giant spring! Do I even need to tell you what this does?

It bounces you a little…

And then it bounces you a lot!

After a couple of hops, you can land on this platform, throw the switch, and get back to adventuring.

…or, you can just keep bouncing away!

I made my choice, and I stand by it.

Steamworks looks pretty spiffy if you ask me… I like sparkly and bouncy things. :3
