Lunar Colony Island

Almost Time For Blast Off!

(Oh, the joy of finally beating someone to a post! 😉 )

It’s less than two days away from the launch of Lunar Colony!  This island sounds like it’s going to be pretty cool.  And just cause they’re so nice that way, the Creators wanted to give us a reminder about its launch on the 16th (this Thursday).  As if we could forget.

It’s the final countdown

We are less than two days away from the launch of Lunar Colony! It can’t come soon enough. We think you are really going to like this one.

Lunar Colony will be available this Thursday for Poptropica Members. Don’t forget your space helmet!

Just in case you’ve forgotten, here’s the description from Lunar Colony’s info page:

So, I was looking at some of the pictures on Lunar Colony’s info page, and there was one picture, that when I looked closely at it, had something a little…unusual.

I took a picture and put a red circle around where to look.  You might have to look closely, but see if you can see what I’m talking about.

Did you see it?

That little sign thing that I circled says something like Eye-Color Changing Station.  I’m not sure if that’s exactly what it says, but that’s what it looks like.

So maybe we can change the color of our eyes in this island?  That would be pretty cool.  …Or pretty weird.

What do you think?  Any chance that our Poptropican’s eyes will get some color added to them?  Or do you think that that sign says something else?

Cover art for Poptropica book series

Muddy Axe previously told us about the possibility of more Poptropica books, including a Mad Libs book and Poptropica Lime 1 for ages 6-7. Now we see that there are going to be books based on Astro-Knights and Skullduggery Island, and what’s more, there is cover art for the two! Cool! 😀

Astro-Knights Island (Poptropica) by Tracey West

Skullduggery Island (Poptropica) by Adrianne Ambrose

Both paperbacks are illustrated by MadPark Design Inc., and currently available for pre-order through Barnes & Noble for $5.39 and Amazon for $5.99 (US). They will be released on November 8, 2012.

There’s not much information about the books, but they seem to be storybooks to tell the tale of those particularly long islands. 😛

There is also going to be an activity book called Pencil Warrior with no image available yet and the description is:

The Poptropica Field Guide to Creativity

This amazing full-color celebration of Poptropica-inspired creativity traverses the most popular Islands of Poptropica. Features 16 pages of adventure-filled activities and plenty of amazing extras.

EDIT: You can count on books than just these, because Muddy Axe tells us that Cryptids Island (Poptropica) by Max Brallier and Lunar Colony by Patrick Kinney will see the light of day in 2013. Notice that the authors’ names indicate that they are related to Poptropica publishers Jess Brallier and Jeff Kinney!

What do you think of these books and the other ones mentioned before? Think you’ll be buying any, maybe? 🙂

p.s. I may be less active now that school has started, but will still be around.

Lunar Colony Island, Sneak Peeks

Countdown to the birth of an island!

Excitedly waiting for Lunar Colony? Well, you are in luck! 😀

Lunar Colony will be out on August 16!

Non-members can play on September 6! 😀

(Thanks ND for the pic.)

The Creators also have a post for us! 😀

We’re in the earliest stages of planning a new Island – one that is still still months away from becoming reality. All we’ve got so far is an idea, and the pile of sketches you see above. Hard to believe, but one day this simple black and white schematic will become a full-blown Poptropica Island!

Interesting design! What I see from this is writing on the top saying Video Game. Places we can tell from here are the Wharf, Chinatown, Subway, and Brownstones. There also seems to be a list of items. I see cellphone, wallet, and shopping list. Hmm. What are your ideas on this idea? 😛

EDIT: Fuzzy-B shared his take on the new sneak peek:

The top looks kinda like it says “Video Game Survivalist” which is kinda interesting seeing that Brownstones leads to a bunker. Also the item list looks like: Address and Phone Number, Shopping List, Batteries, Empty Smoothie Cup, Cell Phone, Wallet ID and Subway Pass, Manifest, Car Keys. This seems like big city themed island with a subway and a Chinatown, but the bunker is interesting, I wonder why you would need one. Perhaps this is related to the return of Dr. Hare..?

It’s that time of year again! So I might be inactive for a spell.

Have a great rest of summer! Enjoy it while you can 🙂

Lunar Colony Island, Merchandise

Blasting off with top toy trends!

Excited for the upcoming Lunar Colony Island? The wait won’t be long now, as the Creators have announced that they are putting on the last touches. Just in time with current news, as you may have heard that NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed on Mars. As for the new Poptropica island, members will get to play first with early access.

PHB reader Muddy Axe shared with us this interesting picture from an article about Top Toy Trends of 2012:

Pictured: These goofy Poptropica figurines and plush toys are designed by Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and each item unlocks extras in a dynamic online island-based gaming world built just for kids.

If you look closely, some of the toys shown are currently not out yet. (Click here for the official Poptropica toys page.) On the right, we see the unreleased keychain plushes of a black-haired boy and ginger-haired girl. Maybe we’ll see them soon.

Lunar Colony Island

I see a man in the moon?

Where did that saying come from? Who knows? But I’m sure it means somewhere along the lines of “an imaginary figure resembling the counterpart of a man’s face.” Sounds confusing, but if taken literally… that’s where the new sneak peek comes in on the Creators’ Blog today.

So, I guess there really is some kind of man on the moon. In the picture there’s not much, except that we can obviously inference it’s on a moon-like surface…and obviously the moon. xD

There’s some sort of moon rover mean to traverse these rocky environments. And in the bottom left there’s a meter. My guess is that it’s either the speed or fuel, though PHB reader Fuzzy-B points out that it looks like the EMF Detector from Ghost Story Island. In the top right we see a grid, possibly serving as a navigation tool. So my guess this links with the upcoming Lunar Colony. I guess now we know the moon may play a key role in all this.

Well, I hope everyone else is enjoying the week with the Olympics and all. 🙂 I also started watching Sabrina, which is a small note to explain my avatar change. I know, I know. It may be meant for “smaller” children and naive at times, but don’t judge just because I like cartoons. xD I mean, it’s pretty fun sometimes. Thanks, and enjoy the games, everyone!
