Fanfic: The Witch’s Heart, Part 2/6 🧙‍♀️

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone! Whatever time it may be, I hope you had a wonderful day, and if you just woke up, I hope that you’ll have a wonderful day! And it will be, because I, HeartofEnder, is back with the second part of The Witch’s Heart!

We left off from part one with the white egg minutes, if not seconds, away from hatching. Without further ado, let’s catch up with our heroes!

Eggscellent: You’re a shell of your former self.

SNOW WHITE, CINDER, and RED are staring at the egg, now in a homemade nest, watching the cracks appear one by one. It is quite early in the morning, when most early birds are starting to wake up and catch worms.

ALOUETTE arrives looking very tired, and her hair looks like a bird just used it as a nest.

SNOW WHITE:

Um, Alouette? Your hair is—

ALOUETTE:

Oh yea, one second.

With a swish of her wand, ALOUETTE’S hair magically brushes itself, returning to the usual long braid she always has her hair in.

ALOUETTE:

I was going to ask why you decided to wake me up so early in the morning, but I guess my answer is (points to the egg) right here.

For the next 30 minutes or so, our heroes watch the egg carefully. Finally, the last crack appears and out emerges a small white baby dragon.

ALOUETTE:

(excited) Oh my gosh you’re the cutest thing to ever walk on this island! Except Gwen’s pet owl Merlin, I guess. Actually, he doesn’t count because he flies, therefore has never walked on this island. Still, you’re cuter than Merlin! Look at those big eyes! Awww who’s a good dragon?

CINDER:

(sighs) It hasn’t even been a minute and Alouette has already fallen in love with it.

ALOUETTE picks up the white dragon and watches it chew the ends of her braid.

SNOW WHITE:

At least it likes you back.

RED:

It’s like a living, four legged, cute little Pearl!

The white dragon stares at Red, responding to the word ‘Pearl’.

BABY DRAGON:

Rawr?

RED:

I think I accidentally gave them a name. There goes all the other name ideas I had.

ALOUETTE:

Well, Pearl is a cute name, so I guess it works. I can’t wait to show this to my mother! I know she really likes her black cats, and I have suddenly become the owner of a white dragon, so who knows how this will work out.

As if on cue, a black cat suddenly appears from the bushes, holding a small note in her mouth. ALOUETTE picks the note up and reads it out loud.

ALOUETTE:

Breakfast is ready, don’t know why you left, hurry home before the toast becomes cold as ice, Sabrina.

RED:

How does toast become that cold? Magic?

ALOUETTE:

There’s no questioning a witch’s metaphors, I guess. Wish me luck!

ALOUETTE waves goodbye to her friends before following the black cat back to her house. PEARL the dragon curiously looks around as they enter the dark forest and arrive back at the tower. Her mother is waiting in the living room.

SABRINA:

Oh hey, I was about to freeze your toast just to show you I wasn’t kidding about—

SABRINA notices the little white creature in her daughter’s hands and stares at it, very concerned.

ALOUETTE:

You’re gonna tell me we can’t keep him as a pet?

SABRINA:

No, you can keep the baby dragon, but it’s something else I’m concerned about.

SABRINA walks towards the window and glances as if she was looking out for something.

SABRINA:

Dragons are very, very protective of their young. They don’t care how you obtained the baby, or if you helped keep them safe, they will show no mercy to claim it back. I fear with that little dragon in your hands—

In the distance, we hear a roar. Over the dark forest, a large shadow flies overhead. Through the massive trees, we see a flash of white scales.

SABRINA:

As I was saying, we better return the baby dragon to its mother before that giant dragon burns down this entire island. We have no time to waste.

Clubhouse Tour: Dizzy Feather 🏡

Hello everyone, Dizzy Feather here. I hope you’re ready for a tour of my clubhouse! Please ignore the shamrocks — some kid preparing for a spelling test spilled his “Good Luck Charms” in front of my clubhouse right before you got here. Also ignore the guy in front of the backyard gate — he stands there all day and night, and never leaves — it’s a bit creepy. Anyway, let’s head inside.

To the right of the front door, we have my two electric bikes all ready for a nice relaxing ride. If you want, you can place your shoes on the rack for the tour, just make sure you remember which pair is yours. You can also hang your hat up as well if you like.

Wait, is that a hole in the bike tire? It is! Oh, I was planning on riding it later today, but now I’ve got to get a new tire for it…

Ah, yes — next we have my bedroom, with my piles of plushies, antique tea set, bed, dresser, and butterflies hanging on the wall. This is by far my favorite room in the clubhouse.

Next up we have the reading loft. Feel free to take a seat in any of the chairs. I know two of them look like pool inflatables, but they’re not.

Here is my humble kitchen. Don’t drink the sodas, they’re not for you… it’s just my refrigerators are full and I had nowhere else to put them — sorry.

I hope you’re hungry because I set up a lunch for us all — no, not the milkshakes, they’re not edible! — but the cheeseburger, club sandwich, ice cream sundae, and the bottled soda are. After we’re finished, we can sit on the couch for a little while before we move on with the tour.

Last but not least is my office. I play music on the TV while I write my stories, and when I get hungry, I grab a snack from the refrigerator.

Dr. Hare & Binary Bard Cosplay by Sriyani (srvanv)

That’s it, no contest, these guys undoubtedly won Halloween last year. 🐰🤖🎃 You don’t often see Poptropica costumes IRL, but when you do, they are simply amazing! This iconic duo is easily recognizable and shows off so much personality. From the green glowstick bands on Dr. Hare’s belt to the metallic-grey socks of Binary Bard’s robot legs, there’s wonderful attention to detail and resourcefulness in this cosplay look. Dr. Hare & Black Widow Cosplay by Yamcha (gokuostrich)

Once again, these IRL costumes have blown me away. And TikTok has been a great platform lately for showing off that Poptropica cosplay. Makes me want to attend a real-life PoptropiCon and dress up as my Popsona. These looks are instantly recognizable and just seem so fun to wear. But honestly, it’s that little Dr. Hare plush and carrot that really sets this look out from the rest. ~~Don’t talk to me or my son ever again~~. Subnautica Sea Monkey by HeartOfEnder

I particularly like this submission because of its unique approach to the theme. For any Subnautica: Below Zero fans, you may recognize this sea monkey that has a Poptropica-style twist. The translation of the sea creature into a Poptropican is super interesting, and I love to see the comparisons between this design and the original. The color scheme is especially nice! It would make a great in-game costume. Find the artist commonly on Discord.

With recent Rumpelstiltskin-ified items available in the Baron’s Cabinet of Curiosities, including a certain altered Dr. Hare costume, seeing Rumpelstiltskin in other iconic Poptropican outfits is rather appropriate, don’t you think? I like to think that he’s getting into the Community Creations spirit and really participating in this month’s theme of cosplay, if but in his own mischievous way. 😜 Plus, he just looks so darn cute! Again, here we see Poptropica cosplaying really taking off on TikTok! Ringmaster Raven is a fan favorite character (who deserved better, of course) and so it’s super cool to see him come to life like this. A funny use of audio to match the look, and very theatrical! The eyes on the hat to match Raven’s in-game hat really tie the whole look together. Find more on their TikTok here (note that some content may be 13+).

August: How Do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is August’s theme? August’s theme is…

🎉💿📼 ‘80s! 📼💿🎉

Maybe it’s been the lack of classic islands ~~or maybe my binging of Stranger Things~~ or our recent celebration of the Poppies, but with summer ending soon I’ve been feeling a whole lot of nostalgia lately. So as we move towards the future, why not celebrate the past a bit too?

Now, I know Poptropica’s demographic is more ’90s and early 2000s kids, but I thought it would be fun to turn back the clock just a little bit more with our next theme. The ’80s was an era of bright neon colors and bold styles to say the least, which could be quite fun to incorporate more into Poptropica. And some of its trends have made a return! I’m talking mullets, VHS-style video, vaporwave aesthetics, you name it.

Influence from the ’80s can even be seen in Poptropica. Maybe draw DJ Saturday Nite in a ton of neon colors? Or reimagine the Night Watch mall as if it were in the 1980s. Make your best ‘80s inspired costume or even write about an island set in the ’80s. Check out LJ’s Poptropica fashion through the decades for some more inspiration.

Hello everyone! I’m HeartOfEnder, and I have been playing Poptropica for about three years now. Previously I made two guest posts on the PHB under the alias Spotted Thunder: a Pop Worlds house tour and intro of my Popsonas. If I had to say what my favorite old island is, it’s probably Vampire’s Curse.

For the past few weeks or so, I’ve been writing a Poptropica fanfiction called Storm’s Calamity, about a Poptropican named Gwendolyn (Spotted Thunder) and her friends who suddenly have to save Poptropica from an ancient calamity. While writing, I had the idea to make a short story for a guest post here.

This story features Alouette Rees, or Fearless Dragon, one of the main characters in Storm’s Calamity. Alouette is Gwen’s cousin and a talented witch from Fairytale Island. But what exactly is her backstory? That is what this six-part story aims to answer. Without further ado…

The scene is the dark forest from Fairytale Island, focusing on a lone tower in the woods with a sign pointing to it saying ‘Witch’s tower, approach at your own caution.’ There is a small garden outside, but for the most part, not a lot of people visit this tower.

We focus on a newspaper titled ‘Fairytale Newspaper.’ It reads:

HAPPY ENDINGS STOLEN BY MYSTERIOUS SHADOW, SAVED BY WITCH’S APPRENTICE
Residents of Fairytale Island reported their happy endings were missing on the morning of April 22. While the how is unknown, it was discovered 10 minutes after the incidents were reported that the culprit was a mysterious man disguised as the king, who is now missing. Exact details are unknown at this time. The mysterious man later transformed into a shadow after a Poptropican who seems to be the apprentice of a witch said his name, RumpelStiltSkin, three times.
All residents affected have received new happy endings, and Fairytale Island is safe again. Forces have been sent to investigate the real king’s whereabouts.
In other news, Cinder’s debut song, “Take back your flipp’n glass slippers whatever-stilts-man” has reached number one on Poptify. We interviewed her about this extraordinary debut…

The scene zooms away to show SABRINA, a witch with pointed ears, black dress, and a black cat by her side. There is a cup of tea in her hands as she looks up from the newspaper.

SABRINA:
New happy endings, huh. How many did you even create under what? 20 minutes?

The scene focuses on ALOUETTE, a younger figure sitting on the other side of her with a bowl of cereal in front of her.

ALOUETTE:
Three. Some of them are really weird. Did you hear what happened to Cinder? Oh, and that Snow White’s true love was a goat? Out of all things, a goat?

SABRINA nods, aware of all these new endings her daughter managed to create.

SABRINA:
All these new happy endings are amazing, Witchlet. We women can do our own things, we don’t need knights and princes saving us! That’s right! We are our own saviors!

ALOUETTE stares at her mom with an odd look, before checking the time and suddenly standing up.

ALOUETTE:
Shoot! I promised that I’ll help Red with delivering pizzas today! I’ll get breakfast on the way, don’t worry mother!

With that, she rushes over to a small table where a crystal wand, plus several other mysterious objects, are sitting. Grabbing them in one big swoop and putting them in a satchel, she slides down the stairs and out into the dark forest.

The dark forest hasn’t changed since RUMPEL escaped. As ALOUETTE walks through the forest, she spots something white in the bushes.

ALOUETTE:
That’s weird. Maybe it’s a broken piece of wood from someone’s house? Or that one white owl?

ALOUETTE investigates the white object and finds out that it’s not an owl, or a broken piece of wood, but an egg. It’s too big to be a chicken egg though, so what could it be? Where did it come from? ALOUETTE takes the egg and puts it in her bag. Maybe she could find out later.

The scene changes to Red’s Pizza Basket, where RED is preparing to open the shop for the day. ALOUETTE exits the dark forest and immediately heads towards RED.

RED:
Alouette! It’s nice to see you again! What took you so long? Not that I’m angry at you or anything, I’m wondering if something happened that delayed you or something.

ALOUETTE:
Not necessarily. Mother’s gloating about my recent mishap with that Rumpel guy. Anyway, found this in the dark forest.

ALOUETTE shows RED the white egg. RED stares at it in awe.

RED:
An egg! But what was it doing in the forest?

ALOUETTE:
(shrugs) Exactly, I don’t know myself.

RED:
Maybe we can hatch it? Then we’ll find out.

Just then, CINDER and SNOW WHITE arrive at Red’s Pizza Basket.

SNOW WHITE:
Hey we thought we might pop in and maybe order a pizza or two-

CINDER notices the white egg on the table.

CINDER:
What is that?!

SNOW WHITE:
Aww, it’s an egg! It’s so shiny and cute!

ALOUETTE:
Yea it was just chilling in the dark forest so I decided to bring it with me. Maybe it’ll hatch into something cool?

SNOW WHITE:
I bet! We’ll help out too. Don’t you two have pizzas to deliver?

ALOUETTE and RED both nod, before waving goodbye to SNOW WHITE and CINDER and getting to work.

SNOW WHITE and CINDER take the egg to the castle gardens. SNOW WHITE starts making a nest for it, while CINDER plays calming and quiet rock music for the egg. After ALOUETTE finishes helping RED, she sits by the egg and observes it carefully.

Days pass since the egg was discovered. One fine morning, before most citizens are awake, the egg started to crack…
