Blast from the Past

Poptropica Journal – 8/3/11 (9 year old Puterpop!)

Hi Gs – this post is actually a journal entry from way back in 2011. Mystery Train was just announced and I had just started a Poptropica journal. Do note that this is old news, just from the perspective of a 9 year old. I thought it was cute, and I hope you enjoy. :3

Hello.

As you can see on the cover, my name is Andrew. I’m a Poptropica fan. #1 Poptropica fan. Poptropica FANATIC! Now, onto Poptropica. Its a virtual world that, hello teachers, is educational. You make a character, then jump on your blimp, a hot air balloon, and travel to an island in need of help. You save it with logic and FOCUS!!!

Now, updates. Mystery Train island is the new Island coming soon. It’s about, you guessed it, a train robbery.

A new before-island mini game “sneak peak” is coming soon too, for Mystery Train. It takes place in an old fashioned restaurant. I’m guessing you have to cater to customers as fast as you can!

Another thing: E! Also known as Evil inc. Sharkboy posted a video on the Creator’s blog: Coming soon to Poptropica – E – September 2011??? I found out it’s based on a comic with superheroes, with mutant robots and stuff.

The Missing Link

The Missing Link: Dinosaurs (Poptropica Origins part 1)

Hi Gs,

Preface: this post has been setting in drafts for months, and while the idea was there, I didn’t have a strong enough theory. I’ve discovered something since then, and it may just change the history of Poptropica forever. The President of Poptropica recently stated that they were going to be releasing an origin story of Poptropica soon… and this may tap into that story. It’s a really big thing to explain, so I’m splitting this into parts. Come back soon for part 2! 😀

Something occurred to me the other day – Time Tangled Island never had dinosaurs! One of the most iconic and one of the first islands there ever was, Time Tangled had time periods from nearly all the eras – except one of the most important eras of all — the dinosaur era! Doesn’t that seem a bit strange?

But that’s not the end of it. An old Daily Pop has even more evidence that a Dinosaur island was planned. Multiple cavemen costume ideas were posted, and from that point on multiple signs have popped up all around the game.

It ended there with hints cropping up of the island for years, but with the recent release of Mission Atlantis Episode 3, we see the dinosaurs once again. The story involves the extinction of the dinosaurs by a meteor shower that crashed the alien ship that you’ve been exploring. That’s basically all we get, but the fact that they’re associating dinosaurs with aliens is the part where things get interesting.

dino1

Aliens have been a part of Poptropica for ages as I’ve discussed before – Nabooti Island, Astro-Knights, Lunar Colony, and now Mission Atlantis.

There was a separate theory going around in the community a while back, on the chronological order of islands – were they random, were they all connected, or is each island in a separate universe? Sponsored islands aside, I believe that they are all in the same universe.

You’re probably wondering how I explain the time differences between islands, such as the hop between Reality TV Island to Mythology Island. It sounds unbelievable, until you take into consideration the very first islands…

Early Poptropica transitions to Shark Tooth with no apparent time gap. Then Shark Tooth transistions to Time Tangled with a corresponding character in both islands! No question there, they’re in the same time period.

Let’s look into this a little more though. In Early Poptropica, there is an arcade with arcade games. Arcade games came into play in the 1970s and 80s. The games in arcade, however, are games like Sudoku and Switch. If you read up on it, you’ll learn that Sudoku only became successful in 2005. If you read the plaque about Professor Hammerhead in the tourist center in Shark Tooth Island, it says that he died in 1997 (which we learned later isn’t true).

dino4

Also note the text on the plaques – Professor Hammerhead discovered this island and its ruins. By this time, the island seems to be inhabited by tons of citizens.

The inventor of the time machine you use in Time Tangled is taking a vacation on Shark Tooth, according the the newspaper on Time Tangled (also he’s standing in the Tourist Center 😛 ). The general time of all three islands is around the time Poptropica first started, 2007.

dino5

It starts to change after you leave Time Tangled Island.

I’ll be explaining more in posts to come – tell me your theories in the comments below! I really think I’ve hit the nail on the head for this one, tell me what you think. 😀

Arabian Nights Island, Popstorms, Realms, Sneak Peeks, Store

Biome hats, Remarkable Realms, & more!

Hey Poptropicans! Remember the sneak peek of biome hats that was tweeted with the launch of Realms? They’ve just recently hit the Store – for free! Five of these Biome Hats are available to everyone, but just like in Realms itself, the Fire and Crystal ones are for members only.

For more information about the features in Realms, such as the biomes that inspired this headwear, check out the PHB’s Poptropica Realms Guide. 🙂

Speaking of Realms, here are this week’s Remarkable Realms creations featured on the Poptropica Twitter. There were a couple of neat water parks (perhaps inspiration for the abandoned WaterThrill Island?), and Chilly Ring’s ship was also on the Creators’ Blog. As always, click to enlarge pics.

Regarding sharing Realms with friends, Poptropica confirms that they are in fact working on it! They also hope to bring Realms to the app in the next six to ten months.

In other news, Arabian Nights – Episode 2: Lair of Thieves is now available as a mobile app update on Google Play! If you need a guide, we’ve got you covered.

Finally, the Creators tweeted Popstorm (Poptropica brainstorm/doodle) #14 – exaggerated emotion! There does seem to be a lot of feeling behind this one.

Anyway, that’s all for now! Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😀

Thinknoodles meets Poptropica publisher & behind-the-scenes!

Hey Poptropicans! Many of you in the Poptropica community have probably heard of Thinknoodles, a YouTuber known for (among other things) his Poptropica walkthrough videos. Well, here’s the kicker: he recently had the opportunity to meet up with Poptropica publisher Jess Brallier, and was able to share with us some of the things they discussed. And here’s a selfie to prove it.

thinknoodles and zeus

Okay, so neither of them are really cartoon characters. But they did meet up in a coffee shop in New York City after Think received a direct (private) message from @Poptropica on Twitter (run by Poptropica’s publisher, Jess Brallier) inviting him for a chat in NYC. Pretty cool! 😀

Prior to meeting up, Think also contacted us here at the PHB asking if there were any questions we had that he could try to work into the discussion. Although he couldn’t promise we’d get all the answers, and tells us he can’t share every detail, here’s what he is able to tell us:

  • After PoptropiCon and Arabian Nights wrap up, they will no longer be splitting islands into episodes. As previously mentioned, we’ll be having full islands after that!
  • He knows of the next few islands coming up, but isn’t able to divulge more – though he does confirm that Timmy Failure Island is one of them, as Poptropica tweeted earlier.
  • Regarding one of our suggestions for an island explaining Poptropica’s origins, he says “it’s something they have been working on addressing, and they’ve written a full back story detailing the legend of Poptropica, which we should start seeing in story/comic form soon!”
  • It looks like we also have some answers regarding the Poptropica cartoon/show we’ve been hearing about. Think says: “The history of Poptropica should start coming out in the next week or two and is based upon a screenplay that Jeff Kinney wrote around 2 years ago when they were considering an animated television series. I have a copy of it, and it’s really detailed: new characters with illustrations, backstory for each one, history of Poptropica and plot lines for 21 episodes of the series!” However, the screenplay remains confidential.

Wow – that last tidbit about the Poptropica origin story sounds like something to look forward to! 🙂 Thanks for letting us be part of the conversation in this way, Think, and noodle on!

Also, for those wondering about the ownership of Poptropica, they recently explained it with a couple of tweets: “Actually the owner is a company called Pearson. Jeff created Poptropica. He doesn’t own it. Jeff’s the creative genius behind Poptropica. President figures it out as a business, and stays out of Jeff’s way.” The Twitter appears to be run by the Poptropica president/publisher, Jess Brallier.

Speaking of the official Pop Twitter, a couple of new behind-the-scenes pics were recently tweeted! Here’s a not-yet-published comic strip in which Oliver and Jorge steal a witch’s broom:

They also asked for some help in voting for which genie design to go for in Arabian Nights: Ep. 3, and responses have mostly been for either Mischief or Macho. Personally, I like Mischief. 😛

arab3 genie optionsYou can also see some sneak peeks (some of which were also tweeted earlier) for the final episode of Arabian Nights in the Daily Pop, which is starting to get back on track with their “daily” schedule!

For more, check out our Daily Pop Sneak Peek Archive, updated monthly. 😉

However, it looks like we won’t get to play Arab Ep. 3 until May at the earliest. Meanwhile, PoptropiCon Ep. 3 was recently postponed to March, plus there’ll be a surprise at the end of April, and, despite what Think revealed earlier, Poptropica is now claiming that Timmy Failure Island is “just a rumor”:

Anyway, hope you enjoyed all these behind-the-scenes glimpses at what Poptropica’s cooking up! Stay popping, and for all the Thinkers out there, noodle on! 😀

GHD guides, P-Con Ep. 3 postponed & more Realms

Hey everyone! Have you checked out Galactic Hot Dogs Island yet? The Creators just released their official video walkthrough! But if you prefer a written guide, we’ve got one with pictures right here that will help you on your quest. 🙂 You can see the video walkthrough below:

PoptropiCon Ep. 3 postponed

You may or may not have noticed, but the Creators didn’t release PoptropiCon Ep. 3: Reign of Omegon yesterday (Feb. 5) despite what they said earlier in this tweet:

pconep3

So, I decided to contact them, and they said that the island will probably come out next month because they are swamped over at Poptropica headquarters.

I hope they can get the final episode out soon! I want to defeat Omegon!

More remarkable Poptropica Realms creations

Lately, the Creators have been posting a lot of creations made on Poptropica Realms by Poptropicans all over the globe. Check out this or this post for some recent batches. Plus, here are two more remarkably amazing Realms they recently tweeted:

Wow – my favorite is the pirate ship! Anyway, that’s all for now! Tell me in the comments what you think about PoptropiCon Ep. 3 being postponed, and your thoughts on the Realms creations. 🙂
