MotM page 3, angry balloon animals, & more Realms

Hey Poptropicans – the third page of Poptropica’s new graphic novel series, Mystery of the Map, is here, and you can read it below (or on the Creators’ Blog, where they’ll be posting new pages daily).

Wow. The kids are about to enter the whimsical world of Poptropica, but what could the sinister Octavian have dragged them in for?

If you missed the beginning, you can catch up on yesterday’s post, or the new graphic novel page on Poptropica’s website, which also offers this blurb about the series:

Mystery of the Map is the first entry in Poptropica’s epic graphic novel series. A freak thunderstorm during a hot air balloon ride rips brother and sister Oliver and Mya and their companion, Jorge, from the “normal” world to the dangerous, unpredictable, and mystical world of Poptropica. The kids embark on a perilous journey to discover the truth about this mysterious place… and the shocking reason they were brought here.

The first Poptropica graphic novel will be released in daily installments on Poptropica.com and social media. Readers will be able to follow Mya, Oliver and Jorge’s adventures, with each entry bringing exciting plot turns and new revelations.

Balloons and balloon animals alike are features of the Poptropica comics, and regarding an earlier sneak peek of the latter, it looks like the Creators are still messing around with balloon animals… but angrier. Not so cute anymore, huh?

And finally, have you noticed the new Realms banner on the Poptropica homepage? Congratulations to Speedy Pelican, Creepy Pear, Bronze Singer, Cuddly Knuckle, Spotted Fox, and Fast Lizard for having their creations featured! 😀

In the spirit of Realms, here’s today’s batch of creations tweeted by Poptropica. A treehouse with a basement, a smoky factory with a truck, and a windmill with a dragon… yup, they really are nailing it.

Mystery of the Map begins, Arab Ep. 2 on iOS, & Realms

Attention Poptropica comic fans – the bad news is, Poptropica’s pausing posting comics for 90 days, according to this tweet. But there’s better news ahead: the first entry in the graphic novel series begins tomorrow now! It’s called Mystery of the Map – keep reading for the first couple of pages!

And the series has begun over on the Creators’ Blog! Below are the first few pages (click to enlarge images), written by Max Brallier (author of Galactic Hot Dogs) and illustrated by Kory Merritt (Poptropica comic artist). So Mya (Oliver’s sister) and the mysterious Octavian make their debut at last…

Stay tuned to the Poptropica Help Blog (and Twitter) as the story unfolds! 😀

Next up – Arabian Nights, Ep. 2: Lair of Thieves is now available on the Poptropica iOS app! It was also made available to Android users about a week ago. Anyway, if you need a walkthrough, check out our Arabian Nights Island Guide!

Lastly, here are a few more Realms that Poptropica featured on Twitter this weekend with the comment, “You’re building beautiful, amazing, and loving.” That last one does give off a Valentine vibe!

That’s all for now – stay popping, Poptropicans. 😉

Penguin Power & Arabian Nights Ep. 3 peeks

Hey Poptropicans! If you head on over to Main Streets right now, there’s a new ad for the new Dreamworks movie Penguins of Madagascar (I found it on Mythology Island). Click on it to receive the Penguin Power! (thanks to ~Anime_Cookie~ for the ad alert!)

Pressing the space bar will make your character equip a handheld bag of Cheezy Dibbles (delicious) and a big penguin will pop up on the screen for a moment. You’ll retain the snack bag after the effect.

Next in news, here’s a recap of the Daily Pops for this week, as well as some from the upcoming week that have already been uploaded to Poptropica’s servers. Most seem to be for Episode 3 of Arabian Nights, and the “Dig Deep” one with the miners might be for the hinted-at underground cave island.

For more sneak peeks, check out the PHB’s Daily Pop Sneak Peek Archive! 😀

Also, for you Twitterers out there, it looks like Poptropica’s account is starting to hit its following limit – so they’ve started unfollowing some accounts (don’t worry, it’s nothing personal!). They suggest following them back to ensure you’re not one of the accounts they stop following.

And feel free to also follow the PHB on Twitter for the latest Pop-happenings! 😀

Finally, hope you’re having a lovely weekend! Just recently, the PHB celebrated Valentine’s Day with a pink-ified site layout, which you can see below if you missed it. Plus, PHB author Brave Tomato drew some fanart for one of Poptropica’s best love stories: Fiona and Valiant of Ghost Story Island!

Don’t forget to be awesome, and stay popping, Poptropicans.

Spreading the Poptropica love with Realms & fan creations

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Poptropica Help Blog! ❤ We didn’t have a party, but we hope you’re enjoying the sweetened color scheme and header – don’t worry, it’s just for today. 😉

Anyway, over on Twitter, Poptropica’s been sharing the love with another batch of remarkable Realms creations – check them out below! (click to enlarge pictures)

Some of these kind of resemble Angry Birds levels, somehow. 😛 For more info on this feature, check out the PHB’s Poptropica Realms Guide!

There’s not much else going on at the moment, but here are some recent fan creations from the Poptropica community on social media! From left to right: PHB author Brave Tomato’s drawing of characters from the Poptropica comics, a villain Valentine from technobunny16, and DJ_kitty_girl’s custom Dr. Hare doll. (For a villain, Dr. Hare sure is lovable…)

Also, apparently, the Popstorm series is drawn by Poptropica artist Jon Pitcher, who has the entire collection thus far on a Pinterest board. Here’s what he has to say about it:

As a Poptropica Creator I created this Popstorm series to inspire kids to use their imagination to be as silly and creatively as possible as they develop their own stories and cast of characters. There are some animation tricks quietly sketched into some of these pages. See if you can find them.

And lastly, here’s an unreleased Poptropica comic strip to wrap up this post (nice touch adding in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, by the way).

That’s all for now, but be sure to catch up on all the latest happenings (and even wild theories) in the posts below. Stay popping, Poptropicans. 🙂

Blast from the Past

Poptropica Journal – 8/3/11 (9 year old Puterpop!)

Hi Gs – this post is actually a journal entry from way back in 2011. Mystery Train was just announced and I had just started a Poptropica journal. Do note that this is old news, just from the perspective of a 9 year old. I thought it was cute, and I hope you enjoy. :3

Hello.

As you can see on the cover, my name is Andrew. I’m a Poptropica fan. #1 Poptropica fan. Poptropica FANATIC! Now, onto Poptropica. Its a virtual world that, hello teachers, is educational. You make a character, then jump on your blimp, a hot air balloon, and travel to an island in need of help. You save it with logic and FOCUS!!!

Now, updates. Mystery Train island is the new Island coming soon. It’s about, you guessed it, a train robbery.

A new before-island mini game “sneak peak” is coming soon too, for Mystery Train. It takes place in an old fashioned restaurant. I’m guessing you have to cater to customers as fast as you can!

Another thing: E! Also known as Evil inc. Sharkboy posted a video on the Creator’s blog: Coming soon to Poptropica – E – September 2011??? I found out it’s based on a comic with superheroes, with mutant robots and stuff.
