My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Funny Ant

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Funny Ant, a self-proclaimed “Poptropica island hopper who can never seem to find a good outfit.” See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

2010 | Discovery

Hola, Poptropicans! My story begins when I was around 6 years old. I loved adventure games, but I was running out of ones to play. I remember asking my mom to help me find some. We searched, and, eventually, came across Poptropica. I made an account with the username Braden0418, and the password–hey, wait a minute! I’m not telling you my password. 😛 Anyway, my account has never changed since. I made a few other duplicate accounts to test out various outfits, but Braden0418 has always been my main account.

2011 | Island Hopping

In 2011, Poptropica was my favorite game, and I played it every day when I had the time! I mostly explored Common Rooms, hoping to find some exclusive costume parts, and I enjoyed playing the occasional game of Balloons or Sky Dive. I loved asking random Poptropicans conversation questions just to see what their answers were!

I had completed quite a few islands that year, but my current attire was pretty bland. I had a few free costumes from the Store, but none of them seemed to work with my Poptropican. I then realized that you could customize clothing from NPPs (Non-Player Poptropicans), and I went crazy collecting everything I could from the islands that were out at the time. (In late 2015, I would find the perfect outfit for my Poptropican… probably not for long, though!)

2012 | Poptropica Help Blog!

I was having trouble completing an island, and I needed some help. None of my family members played Poptropica, and they weren’t very interested in it at the time. So I did a Google search for “Poptropica island guides,” and there it was. The Poptropica Help Blog. I was immediately hooked, and read pretty much every article that the PHB had. The Cool Stuff page was my favorite, with many glitches and hidden items.

In late 2012, I had discovered a hidden costume glitch (some type of schoolteacher-type shirt, I think) which no longer exists. My costume closet has the outfit somewhere, I believe. After that, I began a “complete all the islands” spree, which lasted around two months.

2013 | Island Tales

Around late 2013, I had all the islands completed… except Skullduggery Island. It’s just SO HARD to get 1,000,000 doubloons. I still haven’t completed it! My favorite island so far has got to be Super Power Island. I love the flight superpower and Ned Noodlehead (also known as Comic Kid). I give the PHB credit for the other island medallions I’ve earned. Couldn’t have done it without you guys! 🙂

I loved reading the PHB’s Poptropican’s 911 magazines as well, and made up my own creative stories inspired by Poptropica. One of my favorites was probably when I pretended to be an undercover Poptropican, trying to stop the evil Dr. Hare from destroying the world with his carrot-ray. I am now writing a story that I’ll call “Project 15k.” Who knows, it might appear on the PHB someday!

2014 | A Carnival Full of Monsters

Monster Carnival island, which was supposed to be released in 2008, was re-released this year, and I was amazed by all the new costumes. Just like when I first discovered customizing, I went crazy trying to find the perfect outfit. I had bought Membership back in 2013, which gave me access to the whole store, Member-exclusive costumes and all!

I remember that I had gotten an epic costume (I believe it was a Ringmaster Raven/Knight mashup) and I went into a Common Room. Every user inside immediately tried to customize my outfit and/or friend me. I let them, because I knew I had some hard-to-obtain costume parts on me.

2015 | Leaving Poptropica

Around July 2015, I discovered a new massively multiplayer adventure and sandbox game: Minecraft. I was so into it that I completely forgot about Poptropica and Funny Ant. That is, until late 2015, when I looked at the PHB just to see if anything was happening… and stuff WAS going on! There were the Meme Face Mondays, PHB author MPIPs, the Avatar Studio Gift, and much more. This prompted me to join Poptropica again, and I remembered all about finding outfits for my Poptropican… so that’s what I did I did. (But, like I said, probably not for long. :P)

I started Project 15k in December of 2015, tying my experience with Poptropica into it. One of the PHB staff has already made a guest appearance–but that’s all I’ll tell you for now. I don’t want to spoil the story! 😛

2016 and Beyond | Making Myself Known

When 2016 began, I made a New Year’s resolution worth keeping: Be a Poptropican that others can look up to. I plan to start a blog filled with the latest Poptropica fashions and other nifty things. Project 15k will hopefully be finished during the summer. It’ll be posted both on the Poptropica blog that I may create soon and, like I said, it just might make an appearance on the PHB.

And that’s My Place in Poptropica. Adios, and keep on island hopping, fellow Poptropicans!

First Day of Spring, We’re Sneezing!

Hey guys, Slip here!

sup

Spring has finally come, and Poptropica’s celebrating by giving us two free items— the Flower Power and the Sneezing Powder! Sorry for those who are living in the southern hemisphere, since you’re experiencing autumn right now.

The Flower Power has always been the star of the Spring season. Originally debuted on August 2009 and updated on May 2010, this item is pretty special. Not only does it work as a power where you can plant flowers, but it also works as a costume for your player! Now to spread that springtime cheer…

Moving on to the next free item: the Sneezing Powder! Originally released as a members-only prize in celebration of the release of Virus Hunter Island, this item is now free for all! When you press the spacebar, powder flies out into the distance, making you and the closest Poptropican next to you sneeze! Perfect for pranking friends! Let’s open the can to see what it’s made of — oh, pollen grains! Aaa… aaahhh-choo!

What do you think of these Spring gifts? Are they fun? Make sure to leave a comment below! Bye!

Blast from the Past

5 Years with UiPE – and a teaser!

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here! I usually make silly posts, like PMFM, but today I really want to reminisce.

5 Years ago today, I edited the Poptropica Wiki for the first time. I added the page “Anti-Power Handcuffs” to the wiki, adding simply the text “Anti-Power Handcuffs ar” onto the page. Oh little noobish me. 😛

Who knew that an 11 year-old kid using an anonymous wiki account could end up an author on the biggest Poptropica blog on the internet. Young me definitely wouldn’t have, I can tell you that. I don’t want to explain my whole journey to the PHB on here, since I already have, but I just can’t help but think about the good times.

Not only is this March my 5 year Poptropica community anniversary, but it’s my 1 year PHB anniversary. The first signs of contact between the Wiki and PHB staff began mid-March last year, eventually growing into me becoming an author. March 31, I’ll never forget. The email finally coming to me, the invitation to come here.

My life was forever changed from the moment I found the Poptropica Wiki. I’ve met so many amazing people from the Wiki, the PHC, and the PHB alike. I’ve created my own series now, here on the PHB, which a lot of people are seeming to enjoy. I really love making people laugh and making people just feel good in general.

I’ve spent the past 5 years now, trying to inform and entertain Poptropicans, and I really hope I will continue in that. Speaking of, you may have seen me dropping hints about an announcement this month, so without further ado… I’m going to tease you instead:

ItReturns-HypeImage

What could it mean? Hint: there is a hidden detail on that image, have fun finding it.

Well, this was kinda a short post, but I really wanted to kinda celebrate with you guys. This concludes my Quinquennial Poptropica Community Anniversary post. 😛

This is Ultimate iPad Expert signing off. See you guys next time.

St. Patrick’s Day gifts – Leprechaun Follower and Costume!

Hi Gs,

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and Poptropica is recognizing this with a couple of free items – the Leprechaun Costume from the Store is free for today, and a new Leprechaun Follower which can only be obtained if you visit Mythology Island. Odd placement!

On the follower, it says to go the 24 Carrot Island diner, mix yellow and blue, and drink it to get green hair. It also has a button that allows you to travel to the diner.

For the costume, if you press space bar while wearing it, you’ll do a comical little Irish jig! Here’s a gif of Skinny Moon doing the dance.

It’s also notable that the post on the Creators’ Blog about these items is the first post by “Skinny Moon” (Jessica from social media). I’m excited to see future posts from her! 🙂

Update: In other news, Poptropica Realms is back! Bugs have been fixed, so the experience should be smoother. Check out our Realms Guide and get building!

Arabian Nights Island, Daily Pop, March Madness

March Madness Tie and Purplish Pictures

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, I have some more rather maddening news dreamt up for you all.

tumblr_me9knc9dw41qg35tio2_500

So, you all remember March Madness, right? Well, it’s still going on – but nevertheless, the Creators have decided to grace us with knowledge of the competition’s three frontrunners. The statistics are as follows:

  1. Red Dragon Island – 19.8%
  2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island – 19.8%
  3. Wimpy Boardwalk Island – 15.1%

And believe it or not, Red Dragon and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are only one vote away from each other! So everyone get voting, because March Madness ends on March 31. Your votes mean more now than ever, and remember you can vote once in every common room!

Just a reminder, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island is currently free for all for a limited time (until when, we don’t know) – so if you do want to get the most out of this, maybe vote for another island so we can play both for free? #RedDragonIslandFTW

In other news, have you seen this semi-recent post on the Daily Pop? It’s the only sneak peek we’ve gotten so far this month…

screen2bshot2b2016-03-162bat2b5-21-382bpm1

Super mysterious, right? For what could this sneak peak be? Could it be for an upcoming island cutscene, or perhaps an animated short/special?

The possibilities are endlessly intriguing, so I would like to hear from all of you Poptropica theorists – what do you think this is, and where do you believe it be featured further?

–––

Update: Last but not least, check out this pic Poptropica tweeted of the Arabian Nights Island Poster – where we can see it as a painting in real life!

Until next time…
