Map of mighty changes

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish. Let me just check the map real quick to see where we’re going today โ€” huh? It looks like things have moved around! Take a look for yourself at Poptropica’s indecisive GPS:

(Thanks to Quick Fang for the tip and pictures.)

Categories have improved since the last map update in 2017, which had raised a lot of questions. The new categories, which generally make more sense than the previous ones, are as follows:

  1. The Adventures Begin (Home, Monkey Wrench)
  2. Adventures of Time (Time Tangled, 24 Carrot, Mythology)
  3. Adventures of Atlantis (all 3 episodes of Mission Atlantis each with their own “island,” with some new icons)
  4. Adventures of Destiny (Mystery of the Map, Escape From Pelican Rock, Shrink Ray)
  5. Adventures of Survival (all 5 episodes of Survival each with their own “island,” with some new icons)
  6. Adventures of the Mighty (Poptropolis Games, Virus Hunter, Monster Carnival)
  7. Adventures of Heroes (all 3 episodes of PoptropiCon each with their own “island,” with some new icons)
  8. Adventures of the Strange (Galactic Hot Dogs, Timmy Failure, Mocktropica)
  9. Adventures of Nights (all 3 episodes of Arabian Nights each with their own “island,” with some new icons)
  10. Old School Islands (spanning 8 map pages, containing the rest of the islands, which are non-SUIs: not Sound Updated Islands)

Considering the categorization of “Old School Islands” (which simply means they’re older) and how they’re relegated to the end of the map pages, it looks like those islands, because they lack the newer technology that gives other islands their bigger screens and other features, may not be as much of a priority for Poptropica.

It’s not clear whether they’re working on bringing those islands into the newer tech, so that they can be accessed after the end of Flash, so if you like those islands โ€” play them while you can. As for the other, larger-screen islands, it looks like they’ll be around for the future.

In other news, there’s a new ad around for The LEGO Movie 2, which is already in theaters. The game is simple: click to dodge obstacles in your path as you (playing as either Emmet or Lucy) drive an automobile while being chased by a Duplo alien.

At the end, you’ll win a Planty Follower (which bounces!) and an Angry Unikitty Follower.

There is also an ad for Frosted Flakes, but upon trying to hit the slopes, I only get sent back to the main area and can’t play the game. If it works later on, though, this post will be updated.

Check back later for more Poptropica news โ€” we’ve got a post coming about the spring store updates!

Keep on ‘tropping, Poptropicans.

Pop Pet-ition: let pets have friends

This is a guest post by Quick Fang petitioning for a feature for pets on Poptropica to have their own profiles and befriend other pets. Enjoy!

Hey Poptropicans! Itโ€™s Quick Fang here with a request for the Creators.

So my pet kitten in Poptropica, Snowball, has been feeling a little lonely and bored these days. After all, as a Poptropican adventurer, Iโ€™ve been a little occupied with, you know, exploring islands, decking out my clubhouse, and buying new things for my pet and myself.

Ever since the pets feature was introduced, Iโ€™ve been thinking about the idea of having friends for our pets. This feature should be able to create new communities for our pets in Poptropica, so I think it’s worth a shot. And pets are even better than just followers, cuzโ€™ we can deck them out in smashing outfits.

Sure, we could just meet up in the Arcade with our pets, but maybe Pet-tropicans (if you will) can do more to stay connected than just hanging out in the Arcade when their owners bring them there. Just think about it!

Iโ€™m wondering if Poptropica could actually make a friends profile for pets: the profiles could provide some basic info on our pets like their name (and yes, let’s have the ability to name our pets officially), their birthday (the day they were adopted from the Pet Barn), their colour, and some fun facts about them.

Or take it a step further and create templates for more full-fledged Petsonas (pet personas, which are like Popsonas, or Poptropica personas, but for pets). There are a couple examples on my blog.

Sometimes, pets really do look alike. But with the help of the Colorizer and costumes, you can mix and match to let people know that this really is your unique pet! So I’ll leave you with the Petsona of my kitten, Snowball:

Snowball enjoys the cold of Survival Island, playing outside, milk and fish. I’m her only friend, but I know Snowball would love more!

Share your pet with the Poptropica community, perhaps by commenting on this post! Stay awesome. This is Quick Fang, popping out.

Arabian Nights Island, Creators, Member Gifts, Membership

April’s “bazaar” Member Gifts have blossomed

Hello, Poptropicans!

It’s Lucky Joker here with the member gifts for April! If you’re a member, these items will be automatically added to your account’s inventory upon logging in.

The special gift items this month are:

  • Blossom Power
  • Daisy Pot Hat
  • Bunny Car

I quite like these items as they’re perfect for the season, well… for those of us living in the northern hemisphere that is. It’d would’ve been really cool, though, if we got a Dr. Hare car instead of just a generic bunny, haha! What do you think? Are you a fan of these items? Sound off in the comments!

In other news, over on the Creators’ Blog, new author Blue Tooth gave some sound advice on how to get past the palace guards on episode 1 of Arabian Nights: “How Bazaar.” They also shared this cool artwork to go along with it. Pretty neat!

If you need help on completing the entire episode, or any island for that matter, be sure to check out our full island walkthroughs right here on the PHB! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, don’t forget to fill out our reader’s survey! The deadline is Saturday, April 6. Thanks for reading as always, I’ll talk to you soon…pop on!

Community Creations: March 2019

Hello once again everyone! Spotted Dragon here bringing you theย March recapย for Community Creations!ย March’s themeย wasย gamingย and the featured work is not in any particular order. Be sure to check out all the featured artists!

No clue whatโ€™s going on?ย Go see our intro post.

Top 5 Picks

Super Paper Maxย by Meganf123456

Meganf123456 - Super Paper Max

What a cool design! This Poptropica/Paper Mario crossover looks like a super fun scenario, perfect for fans of both games. The bright colors used reflects the upbeat, playful tone of both worlds, along with their sense of adventure. It’s great to see familiar characters in combination with cool OCs in this design. Fantastic work! Find her DeviantArt here.

A Late Night Gameย by themightywolftiger

themightywolftiger - A Late Night Game

Fun! I love the friendship between OCs shown in this piece. The scene is perfect for our theme and seems apropos for the world of Poptropica! The artist’s style, particularly in regards to their colored lineart, is distinct and interesting too. Though basic composition, the symmetry in the setting frames the drawing pretty well. I can tell that positioning was well thought out and worked on. Keep it up! Find their DeviantArt here.

My Poptropican Plays Poptropicaย by Red Tomato

Red Tomato - My Poptropican Plays Poptropica

Cute! I don’t know why, but the idea of our Poptropicans actually playing Poptropica on their own computers cracks me up. Would their characters look like us??? *cough* Anyway, I love the blue color scheme and the emotion put into Red Tomato’s Poptropican. Though the background uses a pretty simple pattern, the blue tones tie everything together and really scream Poptropica! Red Tomato seems ready for action. Find the artist in the comment section!

Fran Bow and Sally Faceย by xXLilAngel2004Xx

xXLilAngel2004Xx - Fran Bow and Sally Face

Ooooh, spooky! Halloween might not be around the corner just yet, but who doesn’t love some good horror games? These Poptropica/horror crossovers are certainly unique. Just thinking about Poptropica as a horror game… all I can picture is that darn Jersey Devil! But anyway, Copy Cat’s aesthetic is quite fitting, and the inclusion of an OC is always fun. The background photos are extra creepy and both characters are still super cute in the scenes. Wonderful submission! Find her DeviantArt here.

Silvermouseย by Spotted Thunder

Spotted Thunder - Mouse

I love this outfit! Spotted Thunder turned their Transformice character into a Poptropican with this submission. With Transformice being an online game, just like Poptropica, I thought the choice was very appropriate. Not only that, but a story was written to go along with the costume. ST definitely went the extra step here, which is certainly worth a feature! Very unique and very nice. Find them in the comments!

Honorable Mentions

Though we don’t have a handful of honorable mentions this month, I definitely want to give a shout out to our very own Gentle Dolphin for creating some amazing game designs herself! Our annual April Fools post had the spotlight yesterday, which featured some of her fantastic work. Plus, it relates perfectly to our gaming theme! See more of her work on DeviantArt.

April: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what itโ€™s about, itโ€™s basically a chance toย show off your artwork, creepy fan-fics, Pop clubhouses, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that monthโ€™s theme. So what is April’s theme?ย April’sย theme isโ€ฆ

Action & Combat!

A pretty intense theme, huh? With our recent April Fools prank, the PHB presented a Smash Bros parody game called Smash! Crackle! POP!, so why not continue that sort of fun throughout this month? Poptropica certainly has its fair share of fight scenes, particularly because of how many villains need to be taken down, which gives us great room for creativity with this theme. ๐Ÿ˜›

Need ideas to kick off your creative action? Why not draw some Smash! Crackle! POP! fan art? Though it won’t be a real game any time soon, we’d still love to see character designs in battle mode, or even some arena ideas, just for fun like those from Gentle Dolphin. Other than that, maybe write a story of your Poptropican facing off against the toughest of villains? Or perhaps create a perfect costume for a fight. Ready… Set… Fight!

  • Results: I will feature 5 of the submissions as well as 3 honorable mentions.
  • Limitations: Nothing NSFW, and make sure you relate to the theme.
  • Due Date: I will take any entries before the end of this month. Submit as many things as youโ€™d like!

I will always be sure to let you know I have seen your creation.ย Bonus points if you make a compelling description for your piece! While quality counts, Iโ€™m mainly looking for something to simply catch my eye, so donโ€™t be afraid to join in!

April Fools 2019: Smashed, Crackled, POPPED!

Aaaaaapril Fooools, Poptropicans!

You might’ve guessed that yesterday’s post introducing a brand new Poptropica gaming experience, titled “Smash! Crackle! POP!”, was an April Fools’ prank. But if you didn’t, we’re popping that bubble for good: as smashing as it would be, we don’t have any plans to make a Poptropica-style Smash Bros spin-off. We hope it at least made you crack a smile, though. (And yes, the name is inspired by the mascots of Rice Krispies.)

The PHB team did put in some thought into creating the idea of the game, though, so even if you missed it, we hope you’ll still check out our prank post! Gentle Dolphin especially worked hard on making illustrations of fighters, including the roster of PHB staff that’s available as downloadable content (DLC), and a battle arena of Mount Olympus.

Thanks for sticking around with the PHB amid our shenanigans. We’re still committed to being your go-to source for the latest and greatest in Poptropica news, and we’re still hoping to see Poptropica committed to bringing us an excellent game experienceโ€”preferably in the form of islands, but hey, some Legendary Swords-style battle would be pretty cool, too. Until next time! โš”๏ธ

Keep fighting the good fight, Poptropicans. โœŠ
