My Place in Poptropica: Smart Icicle

This is a guest post from Smart Icicle sharing her My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

A very long time ago | Discovery of Poptropica

I found Poptropica when I somewhere around 9-11 years old. Me and my sister were looking at ads on our games, playing on one Windows 7 computer. We decided to play together on first ever account: 1420951818 aka Bronze Socks. A few years later, me and my sister parted ways on Poptropica.

Design Concept: We sense a theme emerging.

The rise of Smart Icicle

I decided to create a new account on Poptropica since we now had two computers. My new account became Target1051 aka Smart Icicle. I played lots of islands back then (when the common rooms, Multiverse, and all the islands were still there). I liked Poptropica so much, I created lots of accounts back then. Meanwhile, my sister would also make accounts every now and then. The only account I remember from all of the other accounts were Popular Flyer.

I remember finding the PHB by searching up island walkthroughs for Poptropica. Soon, I became a pro at one of the Poptropica islands: 24 Carrot Island. After mastering that, I went on to play Skullduggery, Astro-Knights, and Counterfeit… but sadly I could not pass them, since I kept dying to Mother Phoenix, couldnโ€™t stop Black Widow, and it took a long time to beat Captain Crawfish. Soon, I found something else (or rather, someone) I enjoyed…

Say Cheese: A snapshot of skullduggery.

Video walkthroughs

So, who is this someone I mentioned? I started watching video walkthroughs for the islands where it was a little bit confusing. Can you guess whose? Thinknoodles!

My favorite video playlist is his “Road to Captain Thinknoodles,” where Thinknoodles plays the islands for the first time. I also began watching his other videos, where he plays Roblox, Minecraft, etc. Back then, I couldnโ€™t access Roblox since I had a Chromebook. Videos from others, like Danton, also inspired me to play Roblox and watch more videos. As you can see, I’m getting away from Poptropica…

Taking a break

Ater playing through the islands, I found myself bored. So I decided to take a break from Poptropica. I decided that when something new came out on Poptropica, I would start playing it again. In the meantime, I did other things, like watch my favorite movies and TV shows.

One day I returned to the PHB and found something heartbreaking there…

Out There: Chaos reigns.

The end of Flash and return of Smart Icicle

The PHB had announced that Flash would be gone by the end of 2020, and when I saw that, I was downright upset. I had liked the islands, but realized ever since Haxe started in early 2020, I couldnโ€™t play them.

Then I saw the announcement from the Creators’ Blog that there was going to be a Create Your Dream Island Contest. That got my attention, so I got out my notebook and pencil. I got to work thinking of ideas (which was hard because of the copyright rules!) and finally came up with one: Cherry Fall Island. I got the idea from my latest travels to China in June, plus I added a plot twist in it as well. The story is set in ancient China and I put in an empress, a monk (who helps out the player), and some shopkeepers. Although I didn’t win, I felt happy after seeing the winners of the contest and congratulated them in the comments.

Earlier this year, I saw the news about a new Home Island. Since this was a new update, I decided I’d officially return to Poptropica.

Home Island (2021)

Haxe and searching for a membership

Haxe (the post-Flash Poptropica platform of the current game) was new to me, and I found out it was very different from when I last played. My favorite part about it all was the new Home Island: I just gazed in awe after seeing it for the first time.

I learned that you couldnโ€™t do much since most of the old islands were gone and a lot of extra stuff was for members only. So I started looking for ways to get a membership, and found out about the PHB’s monthly giveaways, which I immediately signed up for. I hope I get a membership one day, since I can’t buy one.

I also hope Poptropica changes more soon, like with Poptropica Worlds. In the meantime, I started my own site: Smart Icicle’s Blog. Check it out! I would like to thank the few readers who’ve already visited, and the PHB staff for helping me promote it.

Night Watch: It’s no small decision to take the black.

Well, thatโ€™s about it. What did you think of my story of Poptropica? Do you wish to see my upcoming clubhouse? Canโ€™t wait to share more on the PHB. Anyway, see you soon!

My Place in Poptropica: Golden Singer

This is a guest post from Golden Singer sharing her My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hi Poptropicans, this is a guest post by yours truly, Golden Singer! And Iโ€™m here to share my “My Place in Poptropica” (MPIP) story with you! Right now I am eight, and this is my first year on the Poptropica Help Blog. Enjoy!

2016โ€“2017 | Bored of board games

I was 4 years old and I was bored while playing boring board games. So I logged on my computer and just started playing online games. Thenโ€ฆ I saw a pop-up saying “Poptropica: play now.” So I pressed on it and it brought me to some game.

I pressed on “new player” and made my account, then I started playing! The first Island I remember playing was Monkey Wrench Island. Later, in 2017, I started buying stuff from the store, but didn’t get much. So I tried to beat more Islands.

Monkey Wrench Island

2018โ€“2019 | Rewind

I stopped playing Poptropica for a while. I forgot my password, so I had to make a new account. My first account’s name was Icy Horse, but now my name is Golden Singer. All the stuff I had was gone, and I couldn’t get them back, so I decided to finish the same Islands I did before.

Thenโ€ฆ I found the Poptropica Help Blog! I didn’t go on it as much as I do now, but itโ€™s ok โ€” I started beating more islands and it was fun!

2020 | The end of Flash

The end of Flash was kind of hard on me. All the island worlds I’d beat disappeared! I was kind of sad about that, but at least I still had fun, because Poptropica is fun.

2021โ€“beyond | The future

The future of Poptropica is coming, with all the excitement about the new things in Poptropica like the new Poptropica Islands. I’m looking forward to it all!

So thatโ€™s My Place in Poptropica. If you like this one, check out all the other MPIP stories on the PHB too. Bye!

My Place in Poptropica: Cheerful Comet

This is a guest post from Cheerful Comet sharing her My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about one’s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hey Poptropicans! My name is Cheerful Comet and I am here to share with you how I got into Poptropica. I started playing Poptropica in 2012 when I was 8 years old, and now I am 16.

2012โ€“2014 | My neighbor’s introduction

My neighbor was the one who introduced me to Poptropica. His Poptropicanโ€™s name was Thirsty Cactus and he had 5 medallions. When I first saw the game, I watched him log in and start playing SOS Island, which was new at that time. He recommended that I play this game.

But to be honest, I did not really like it. I would just go island to island, exploring the place and changing my outfits. This went on for a long time. I made a million Poptropica accounts which I never touched again.

Things changed when I moved out from my apartment, and my neighbor gave me his account username and password. I logged into his account and found myself on the cliff of Super Villain Island (Home Island did not exist back then). It was super hard for me to climb those cliffs, but I enjoyed it once I entered Dr Hareโ€™s dream.

Dr. Hare’s dream in Super Villain Island.

I donโ€™t remember much, but I remember that after a while, I couldnโ€™t get into the Thirsty Cactus account. I figured maybe I forgot the password or he changed the password.

2013โ€“2014 | Beating the Islands

I started beating the islands one by one every day. Just one problem: I had yet to create my own account, and still didn’t do it until 2015. I know, I could have just stuck to one account. Or I guess I didn’t know… I was an idiot, still am.

So basically, each day I would start playing on a new character and win two or three island medallions. I usually beat the easy classics, like Early Poptropica and Shark Tooth Island. This went on for a while.

Shark Tooth Island

2015โ€“2016 | Creating an account

One day, I finally created an account named Yellow Lobster. I did not care about the name for a while, but it did start bothering me later.

I started beating the islands again, but this time without losing progress. I earned at least 33 medallions during this time (with the help of Thinknoodles walkthroughs). Then in 2016, something happened. No, I did not โ€˜forgetโ€™ about Poptropica. I was moving to my family’s country. But it only lasted 7 months. During these months, I had no WiFi on my PC, which meant no Poptropica.

2017 | Discovering the PHB and learning more about Pop

2017 was the best year for me in terms of Poptropica. I am pretty sure that I had come across the PHB a couple of times before then, but I consider my official “discovery” of the PHB to be in 2017, through a YouTube video about the Avatar Studio Glitch. Since then, I became a daily reader of the blog. I was hooked.

I participated in the PHB’s annual Halloween costume contest and won a membership that year, which was sponsored by the Poptropica Creators. But thatโ€™s not all. My membership should have only lasted for 1 month, right? It lasted for more than 11 months starting from November 2017. Below is my proof of how long it lasted, along with my winning costume. I don’t know why it lasted that long, but I am grateful it did.

I also learned that Jeff Kinney, the author of my favorite book series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was the creator of Poptropica. But that explains the two Wimpy Kid Islands, doesnโ€™t it?

2018โ€“2020 | Costumes and a plan that backfired

In 2018, I also participated in the PHB’s annual survey and the Halloween contest. I won yet againโ€”call it luck maybe. This time I did not win membership, but my membership from the last contest did not expire until 20 days later.

Like my old neighbor Thirsty Cactus, I wanted to give my username and password to someone and inspire them to play Poptropica. I chose someone who I knew more than Thirsty Cactus, but letโ€™s just say it backfired TERRIBLY. I almost lost my account, which had membership, all the medallions, and lots more โ€” and of course, a place in my heart. Yeah I know, it’s cheesy. So I made the sensible decision to talk to her parents. And I literally told her why the account is worth a lot to me. I got my password back after all that embarrassment and begging. If only I knew to contact Poptropica support back then.

In 2019 and 2020, I did not play much Poptropica. I did not forget about it, but I did not have as much time on my hands to play. Still, I did all my annual traditions on the PHB: the annual survey, voting in the Poppies, and the Halloween costume contest. But I made a mistake in the 2019 costume contest: instead of sending my costume link via the Avatar Studio, I sent a link to the Avatar Studio. So they never saw my costume. But letโ€™s not dwell on the past, shall we?

Anyway, because of a new feature in Haxe, I changed my name from Yellow Lobster to Cheerful Comet.

2021โ€“beyond | The future

I donโ€™t know whether I will continue to play Poptropica in the long run, but it makes me happy, so why should I quit for no reason? I am playing Poptropica more than ever right now, although I miss the classics.

Before ending this post, let me take a moment to say that common rooms arenโ€™t really interactive at all anymore. I miss the prank cans and fortune cookie cards. I hope I will continue to play Poptopica.

Bye Poptropicans! Stay poppinโ€™!

My Place in Poptropica: Sleepy Starfish

This is a guest post from Sleepy Starfish sharing her My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about one’s Poptropica journey.ย Enjoy!

Hi! I am Sleepy Starfish. I am going to tell you how I found out about Poptropica and the Poptropica Help Blog. If you want to friend me, my username is 100349.

Forgetting my Poptropica account twice

It all started when my sister was playing Poptropica and she would let me play. I remember watching my brother playing Survival Island: Ep. 1 on Poptropica.

Later, I stopped playing Poptropica. But in 2019, I started playing Poptropica again. I created an account but then I forgot my account. So I made a new account, and this time I wrote it down. However, when I tried to log into Poptropica, my password was incorrect. I think when I wrote my account details down, I wrote it wrong. So I created another account. This time I remembered it. My name was Cool Rider.

Finding out about the Poptropica Help Blog

I used to never decorate my clubhouse because I was too lazy. I would also never check the Creators’ Blog because I thought it contained long, boring articles. One day in December 2020, I decided to check the blog, and that’s when I saw it wasn’t as boring as I thought. Now I check the Creators’ Blog every day!

In February 2021, there were a few guest posts on the Creators’ Blog that mentioned the Poptropica Help Blog. So I searched it up and clicked the first link that popped up. The first PHB post that I saw was the Pop the Difference challenge. From then on, I’d check the PHB every day.

Recently, I even shared my clubhouse tour here on the PHB! Through the friends menu, I also changed my character’s name to Sleepy Starfish.

Thatโ€™s My Place in Poptropica. Bye!

My Place in Poptropica: White Fox

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of White Fox.ย Enjoy!

Hello, fellow Poptropicans! I am going to share my MPIP, or My Place in Poptropica, as requested by some of you in the PHB comments. Let’s go!

First, the basics. The name’s White Fox. Gender: female. Favorite color: blue. Pet: Puppy (named Puppy). Born on: Mythology Island. Favorite outfit: see pic above. Now onto my story!

My best friend showed me Poptropica, and I instantly fell in love with it. I have been playing Poptropica ever since. I tend to stick with the things I like. The first island I ever played was Mythology Island, which opened up a whole love for Greek mythology for me.

There are always new opportunities opening up in Poptropica, so the game is always changing. The fandom grows with every new opportunity, like with theย Dream Island Contest. I think all the opportunities just make Poptropica a better community, which is why I am so addicted to it!ย ๐Ÿ˜„ย I love Poptropica. It is a lot more than a game to me. It’s a place that opens up new worlds, ways to communicate with friends, and a lot more. It’s a great community.ย ๐Ÿ‘

Poptropica’s a whole new world.

I think I may have beaten almost every island, except Great Pumpkin Island and Mocktropica Island, both of which are now off the game due to the end of Flash. The end of Flash has taken some of my favorite features and islands off the game, and I am sad about that, but some of the newest updates make upย for it!

For example, Paradise Island seems really cool!ย (Though perhaps it won’t be an official part of the game as it was revealed to be a test experience.)

I am nostalgic for the way things used to be in Poptropica, but I do look forward to what the future of the game brings.ย However, the new Home Island personally isn’t my favorite, and some other new features disappoint me somewhat. Still, the best thing about Poptropica is that it is always changing, and there will always be something new!

That’s My Place in Poptropica. I hope you enjoyed seeing from my point of viewย in Poptropica!

Peace,
White Fox
