Graphic novel news: Lost Expedition, Mitch Krpata, and book 3!

The lost expeditionHey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and this set of news is not just some ordinary wheel or fancy pair of sneaker-related news for once. This will be interesting… as long as you’re a fan of the Poptropica graphic novel series.

Let’s start off about Book 2, The Lost Expedition, which will come out for the world August 16th. After over a year of not hearing from them, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge are back for a brand new adventure in the world of Poptropica.

The novel will be written by Mitch Krpata (I’ll get more into him later) and illustrated yet again by Kory Merrit. If you need a reminder, the summary is as follows, according to the Barnes and Noble page:

In book two,The Lost Expedition, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge continue their search for home, with a few hilarious stops along the way. As the friends set sail for new sights, they find the evil Octavian is still hot on their trail, and heโ€™s determined to get his hands on their magical map. To make matters worse, a mysterious organization is keen on expelling the three friends from Poptropica. As the pals travel, they find that each island is filled with its own unique brand of peril, and the mystery surrounding the map and Poptropica itself begins to unfold. Will our trio be able to once again outfox Octavian and discover the identity of this secret society?

So with that up ahead, of course it’s going to get some minor coverage. This news article by the MetroWest Daily News may seem like an ordinary news article showing off the graphic novel, but if you look into it deeper, you’ll find not just the standard summary.ย The news article confirms that the Poptropica graphic novel series is on a four-book deal. It also says that Mystery of the Map willย the only one of the four that’s written by a different person (Galactic Hot Dogs author Max Brailler) and Mitch Krpata will write out the rest of the series.

There are also some interesting quotes said by the man himself in the article. He describes The Lost Expedition as a novel that would teach about “accepting the responsibility” of a leadership role, as well as mixing in the more action packed parts of the books. He had been with Poptropica since its beginnings in 2007, calling the franchise his “life’s work” and he desires it to “survive and outlast [him]”. Check out the article here if you’d like to read about his inspirations and other information.

However, strangely enough, the news article itself isn’t the biggest plot twist of this post. It’s the video that should be drawn attention to as well. It’s only 28 seconds long, but it’s not entirely about the content- it’s about what you hear. (Although at the end of the video, it does show a preview of one of the pages.) You can find it on the news article, so take a good listen to how Mitch sounds.

Sound familiar? Well, if you don’t hear it, Mitch here sounds quite a lot like our favorite blogging and YouTubing pirate, Captain Crawfish! For reference, here’s one of his videos.

Captain Crawfish’s identity had been a major secret for years, and now that the identity has practically been revealed to us, we have yet another mystery off our backs. All those years of crawfish-nomming jokes have been worth it. (And thank you so much for shouting out to me on the Reign of Omegon walkthrough!)

Now, let’s get into the future here, because, everyone, I found the title, cover, release date, and summary of the third Poptropica graphic novel.

*Warning: There might be potential Book 2 spoilers ahead, especially in the summary, so tread carefully.*

A Story of Sharks, Zombies, and Robots

Hello readers!

I guess that’s my tagline now… could be better I guess. Oh well.

Anyways, while the Tribal Tournamentย is in full swing (go Seraphim!) the Poptropica Creators have been using the new feature Instagram Stories (which is definitely not Snapchat in any way shape or form). Check them out below! (Credit to Cool Octopus!)

So we have a Zomberry Island poster, the back of aย Poptropica toy,ย the host of “Scaredy Pants”, a Zomberry, a screenshot of a video showing off the Mystery of the Map book in different languages, and the 3″ Shark Surfer and the Booga Shaman toys.

Basically, just keep an eye out on the Poptropica Creators’ Snapch-I mean, Instagram Stories, in order to see neatย pictures from around Poptropica HQ!

That’s all for now. Don’t forget to support your tribe in the showdown, and while I would say join Seraphim if you haven’t chosen aย tribeย yet… I feel kind of bad for Andrew at the moment.ย The Nightcrawlers really, really, really need the help.

See ya in the next post,

Ylimegirl

Cats and graphic novels are out of the bag!

Hey Poptropicans! ๐Ÿ

Before we get into the Poptropica news, there’s a quick announcement I’d like to make –ย over the next couple of days, as we prepare for something, there may beย (temporary) difficulties inย loading ourย site โ€“ if this happens, please use our poptropica.wordpress.comย URL instead. Thanks for your patience!

Anyway, let’s pop in to see what’s new on Poptropica! There’s currently a new ad on Main Streets for the upcoming movie Nine Lives, and in it you can watch a trailer and play a game where you have to run away from this cat, Mr. Fuzzypants, who’s chasing you.

At the end, a cat whisperer takes care of Mr. Fuzzypants, and you’ll win a Mr. Fuzzypants Follower and Cake Toss power (press spacebar to shoot cakes on other Poptropicans). Also, after the mini-game, your Poptropican will haveย cat ears that only show up in the Nine Lives ad room. (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the updateย andย Koiย and Yujo for the ad pictures below!)

Over on Home Island, the Mystery of the Map Photo Booth from before has returned, this time to encourage sales instead of pre-orders! (See this PHB post for more about this Photo Booth!)

In other news, it looks like Poptropica โ€“ well, its graphic novel series at least โ€“ has a spot in the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con! (If any PHB readers are going, let us know!)

According to this publisher’s tweet, Mitch Krpata, Pop Creator and author of Poptropica: The Lost Expedition (the second Pop graphic novel after Mystery of the Map), will be at SDCC’s Booth #1216, where you can get a copy of the book before it’s officially released on August 16th.

Lastly, voting for the 2016 Poppiesย isย now closed. Stay tuned toย the PHB for details about the Poppies party and livestream, coming soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Teen Titans Go for a Crossover Show

โœจ Hey Poptropicaย heroes! โœจ

There’s a new common room ad on Home Island’s Main Street for the upcoming Cartoon Network television crossover special event between Teen Titans Go & Powerpuff Girls โ€“ aptly titled Heroes vs. Heroes; or, as one might point out, Reboot vs. Reboot. Thanks to Yujo_Jacy_the_Jumpy_Coyote for the ad write-up, and both Yujo and Hyper Gamerย for the pictures!

The advertisement seems to restricted in some way, since it is possible you mayย not seeย itย at all.

Poptropica Heroes! vs Heroes ad

The waves at the bottom are animated, even allowing your Poptropican to swim. Clicking on Beast Boy’s snail form at the top right corner will give every Poptropican in the room a temporary Beast Boy floatie, which will vanish once you leave the Common Room.

Grabbing Cyborg’s Foot at the bottom left will earn you the Teen Titans Costumes item and grabbing Beast Boy’s fish form will earn you the Beast Boy Power.ย The Teen Titans Costumes item allows access to costumes of Robin, Cyborg, and Raven respectively. The Beast Boy Power is a hand held item that will display Beast Boy transformations of either a dog, a gorilla, or a tyrannosaurus rex once spacebar is pressed.

Poptropica Heroes! vs Heroes prizes

Oddly enough, both items are Teen Titans Go themed โ€“ even clicking on the outside of the ad will link to a Teen Titans Go webpage. Perhaps the Powerpuff Girls already had their fair share of advertising items from their last appearance on Poptropica.

In addition, Poptropica glitcherย WimpyKidFanย has been able to load the ad into Poptropica Realms- albeit on a blank dark blue background.

On the subject of ads, Poptropica Creator Skinny Moon has been hanging out in Home Island’s Arcade common room with Poptropicans wearing the Finding Dory ad prizes! Check out her tweet:

In other news, Poptropica glitcher idk recently shared with us some item cards from the currently-cancelled Crisis Caverns Island: a button for the fictional Caldera State Park and an Island Medallion.

Also, Cool Octopus recently found a way to play the Poptropica Adventures DS game on his iOS device (such as iPhone). To do so, you will need to download a DS emulator for your device and find the Poptropica Adventures game from there.

Here at theย Poptropica Help Blog, we have not tested this option, but it does appear to be possible, and if you would like to try it out, try this guide for downloading Nintendo DS games on iOS.

Anyway, don’t forget about the PHB Summer Kickoff Party this Monday on the PHC โ€“ more details in our invitation post! We hope to see many of you there!

Stay popping!

Finding Trappers for an Adventure

Hey, Poptropicans!

There’s a new ad in Poptropica for the upcoming Pixar movie, Finding Dory, which as you may know is a sequel to Finding Nemo! I’ve known about the movie for a while now, and I can honestly say I’ve been excited for it ever since.

You can find the ad on Home Island by running to the right until you spot it. By watching two short videoย clips, you’ll get twoย neat prizes.ย One is aย Hank Hat โ€“ yup, that’sย a squid on your head. The other prizeย is aย Coffee Pot… and yup, that’s Dory in a coffee pot. Poptropica is realistic. Totally. I know.

โ€“

Also,ย another filler post has appeared onย the Creator’s Blog, in which the Creators wereย discussing a new character forย an upcoming islandย โ€“ but instead of giving sneak peeks, they comparedย characters from previous islands together, too. Most likely this is for Crisis Caverns Island, which has yet to be officially announced.

In this “sneak peek”, there’s aย “crazy trapper”, “puzzled trapper”, and the “angry trapper”. Can you guess where these characters are from? (See just below this picture for answers!)

trapper_thoughts

Answers: Crazy Trapper is Ed the janitorย from New Jersey on Cryptids, Puzzled Trapper is Myron Van Buren from Survival, and Angry Trapper is the distressed guy in Loch Ness whose vehicleย you fix,ย also from Cryptids.

โ€“

In other news, PHB authorย HPuterpopย recently pieced together the soundtrack for Poptropica Adventures for Nintendo DS. Here’s theย video down below for those who want to take a listen. We also have a guide forย the DS game if you’re interested!

All of them are great, but what are your favorites? Mine are Mini 01, Mini 02, Myth, and… well, most of them are great.

That’s pretty much it for this post.

Until next time!
