Dial B for Bunny

Hey, I’m back! With projects, finals, and even summer assignments for high-school, I have been really busy and unable to post. Do not fear! Now that summer is underway I will have more time to post! (Seems like this is becoming a common theme, doesn’t it?)

CarrotSound
Or should it be Dial B for Beta?

Now that the introduction is out of the way, we have our first official look inside the new 24 Carrot Island: Beta Carrotene and we get an explanation of what it includes (other than  a red-orange pigment found in plants and fruits, especially carrots and colorful vegetables 😉 ). We will be able to play with  features previously previewed such as the full screen, music and sound effects, and controversial new “navigation system” that appears to be the same as what is used in the common rooms. We do have to remember that since it is just in Beta that there will be features missing such as saving your game or using the customizer, but don’t fret, because these will be added back in later. Are you bouncing off the walls about this update, because I definitely am!

Dial M for Monkey B for Bunny

We also have our first look at the newest LEGO CUUSOO project prize. Our next code will give us the power to place these bunny ears on who ever we want! But wait, what would happen if we tried to put them on Dr. Hare? These styling bunny ears can be yours in under 100 more supporters, so if you haven’t yet, make sure to support the project!

You have to admit, you want to put some bunny ears on every one on 24 Carrot too.

The (Epically Awesome) Poptropica Island Creator Kit

(Before I begin this post, I just want to say sorry for not posting in ages!  I know that my last two posts have started this way, but, like I’ve said before, life’s been kind of crazy and hectic for me recently.  Nothing bad has happened, I’ve just been super busy.  Hopefully, now that it’s summer, I’ll have time to post more!)

Creating an island on Poptropica must be extremely complicated.  I know that you’ve probably never had that thought cross your mind before, and, honestly, before today I never thought about it either.  But take a moment to sit down, calm your brain, and just think about all of the things that the Creators have to do to design an island.  They have to come up with a story line, bad guys, good guys, they have to design the backgrounds, buildings, all of the items, all of the clothing, they have to do all of the drawing, they have to do all of the coding, and they have to do about a million things more to make sure that Poptropica is the wonderful place that it is.

So, how do the Creators do all of that and what steps do they take to do it?

On August 1st, in the form of a book, the Creators are going to reveal all of their secrets.  …Well, maybe not all of them, but that’s beside the point.  Yesterday, the Creators announced a new book that will come out in a couple of months.  The book is called the Poptropica Island Creator Kit.

According to Captain Crawfish’s post,

The Poptropica Island Creator Kit is an activity book that will walk you through all the same steps we take when we make a new Island. You’ll come up with a storyline, create characters, and design puzzles. There are some surprises in store, too.

The book is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.  Click here to go see the page.

Right now, the book is priced at $7.19.  And, like I said before, the book comes out on August 1st.

So, what do you think of the book?  Do you think you’ll be getting it?  Hopefully we’ll find out more about it soon!

Sound: Poptropica’s Biggest Makeover?

Hey guys, BT here. Now, I’m just shocked at this video. Shocked in a happy way. VERY SHOCKED.

Wow, I did NOT see that coming. Whew. Full sound and music in Poptropica after 5 and a half years… and with a full screen at that!

This is just stunning. So far, 24 Carrot Island’s redux seems epic (I’m loving the music and the effects of the crows and the crowbar and everything.)

I think this was the reason why we haven’t heard much of Virus Hunter Island in a while. I’m super pumped about this. This is a really big piece of news here, peeps.

BT out!

Hey everyone, Slanted Fish here:

The addition of music and more sound effects in Poptropica sounds great to me as well! It’s definitely been a long time coming. Anyway, here’s a bit more ear-related news for you: when Dr. Hare’s Lair reaches 7,500 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO, we’ll be getting this Dr. Hare Ears Power!

Now we’ll definitely be well-equipped for when this big sound update comes out! Notice the new menu icon in the video as well! Plus, as Silver Wolf pointed out in the comments, the trusty blue/green arrow has been replaced with the common room cursor! The general consensus in the comments for that is… that’s a bad move. That cursor’s pretty annoying, and jumping around with it just isn’t the same.

Well, I’m looking forward to hearing more about what’s up in Poptropica. (Pun intended, of course!)

Splash into Roarin’ Waters, don a pink jumpsuit, and bring all your friends along

Roar for Roarin’ Waters! There’s a new ad for CapriSun Roarin’ Waters on Main Streets (eg. Early Poptropica), with 2 games and 4 prizes! The African Safari awards the Safari SUV Power and Safari Photographer costume, and the Hawaii Zipline gives you the Fruit Suit and Roaring Waters Power.

CapriSun

Check out this video from YouTuber chiquita16178 for a tutorial on how to beat the games, plus a demonstration of all the prizes, which you can find in the green “CapriSun” tab in your inventory.

Dr. Hare made a promise last week about a new free item when the LEGO CUUSOO project reached 7,500 supporters. (We’re currently at 6,860!) Could it be this funny-looking pink bunny/carrot jumpsuit seen in this new PCB sneak peek? Dr. Magic Onion thinks so.

And look, there’s that new combined menu icon we saw earlier! When will they roll out this feature?

There’s already hundreds of pop quiz questions on Poptropica Friends, but for some dedicated players who log in every day, it’s just not enough. That’s why a brand-new batch of new pop quizzes have recently been added, so now you’ve got more things to share with your friends online.

And if that’s STILL not enough, the Poptropica Friends book is coming out pretty soon (August 1, 2013)! Friends: Quizzes and Activities for You, Your Friends, and Your Life (Poptropica) by Tracey West is available for pre-order on Amazon. It’s got a nice cover, too:

That’s all for now, Poptropicans! Don’t forget to be awesome! (DFTBA!)

Take it in but don’t look down – new menu, MU hat, peak peeks

It looks like another ordinary day at the rundown carrot cake factory – windows are still cracked as boards cover up the dilapidation, and inside, Dr. Hare is probably barking orders at his minion drones (unless, of course, you’ve freed them). But wait! What’s that in the top-right corner?

Seems like the Creators are planning to simplify the game a bit by combining all the tabs (inventory, map, etc) into one handy location! Also, if you click on the sneak peek image, you might notice that it’s bigger than usual – maybe we’ll get to play Poptropica in full screen or something?

If you visit Main Street (I was on Early Poptropica), you’ll see a video ad for Monsters University, which will be in theaters June 21! Who else is looking forward to this movie? 😀 Anyway, watch the trailer for your free MU Hat! There’s a dropdown menu listing in your inventory for Monsters University, and it looks like this green advertisement tab will keep changing every time there’s a new ad.

Now let’s look at some recent Daily Pop peeks! We’ve got mountain climbing at Mt. Funshine, a work office, Cool Cow milk truck (likely related to Grunwald’s Cheese Factory), and even a volcanic peak. Wonder where it all ties in.

Mount Improbable – Mountaineering is too dangerous these days.

Mount Improbable

Subterranean – Bold innovations in workspace design.

Milk Run – We just need to crash this into the chocolate syrup truck.

Peak Condition – From the vault, a lost level of Poptropica.

Peak Condition

Last week, the Creators announced the Poptropica Shop, which was covered in my previous post. One cool thing about the personalized clothing is that it doesn’t have to be your own character, so that means you can get a shirt or hoodie with any Poptropican as long as you have their username!

I’m saying this because Captain Crawfish has not-so-subtly hinted that you can get one of him, and if you’d like to do that, his username is CaptainCrawfishCreator. In fact, if you visit the PHB’s Friend Finder page, you’ll find a whole collection of usernames, including other Poptropica Creators, PHB staff, rare costume accounts, and more.

Well, it’s about time to wrap up this lengthy post! Summer’s coming, which might mean getting tanned burnt orange if you’re a Poptropica member, surfing tidal waves, creating nanobots, or whatever it is you do when you’re bored on Poptropica! DFTBA!
