Zeus, Zoos, and Trailers Too

Greetings Hawk-tropicans! This is Giant Hawk speaking, and today, I have quite the variety of animation-related news for you all!

And what better way to start off then a gif of everyone’s favorite Greek god Zeus? ‘Nuff said.

Okay, yeah – that’s pretty cool and all, but what other animations have the Creators thrown at us? Turns out, there’s also currently an ad on Home Island for the upcoming animated film Zootopia, with two games. Thanks to Hyper Gamer for the tip and picture below!

In Catch the Weasel, you are to race Judy to the finish line. You get the Flash Follower prize for winning. And in Save Nick, you control Nick and have to control him to not hit obstacles. You get the Judy Patrol prize, when is an animation of Judy riding her police car.

By the way: This is the first ad to be in the SUI (sound-updated island) format!

We’ve also gotten two new trailer videos for the print version of the Mystery of the Map graphic novel! Check them out:

I don’t know about you guys, but I would suggest preparing your wallets for the graphic novel’s upcoming release on March 1st!

And speaking of upcoming releases (see what I did there), Poptropica’s mysterious new tutorial island seems to be right around the corner, as indicated by this photo of some kids at the Poptropica Headquarters testing it out.

So I assume that these kids are the children of the Creators… lucky kids.

Nonetheless, there is one more thing I should mention. If you visit any pre-sound updated (classic) island,  you’ll find that Poptropica has implemented a new map icon.

Once again, thanks to Brave Dolphin for the picture!

What do you all think of the new map icon? And which are you more excited for – the Mystery of the Map graphic novel or the new tutorial island?

Until next time…

Snow on Home Island, Hula Hare, Realms, & more!

Hey Poptropicans!

First of all, it’s snowing on Home Island (and also on the PHB)! Fancy. The NPC (non-player character) in front of the Shop is wearing a costume that fluctuates between yeti and Jack Frost, and the other NPCs are carrying candy canes. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

If you take the blimp over to Poptropica Realms, there’s a new loading screen featuring Dr. Hare playing with a blue hula hoop! You can also see this in action with this link. So far, this only seems to appear before Realms is loaded. (Thanks to Happy Panda for the tip!)

Speaking of Realms, the Creators haven’t posted much in the way of Remarkable Realms as of late – until just recently, when they featured Loud Chicken’s “Esador Cityon the official blog! To visit this magnificent cityscape, use the Realms code 72pyj.

It’s been almost a year since Poptropica updated their homepage layout, but if you ever want to go back to the classic layout where there was less clicking around to get to the game, Nice Hawk of Poptrickia recently shared this link that allows you to do just that:

If you prefer the original page, be sure to bookmark the link while it lasts!

There’s also a few things going on relating to the Poptropica graphic novel – the first volume, Mystery of the Map, will be released March 1, 2016 in bookstores, and if you’re a US resident, you can even enter this giveaway on Goodreads for a chance to win a copy of the book!

If you view the book on Amazon, you can also see what the book cover will look like (pictured below). (Ehh… the design could be better. 😛 ) Also, check out this wall decal of Oliver in Poptropica HQ that the Creators shared on Twitter!

Did you know you could read a preview of the graphic novel on this Poptropica page? But don’t worry, you can continue reading the whole thing over on the PHB’s Comics page!

Have you flipped through the latest PHB magazine, Issue #28 of The POPCORN? Poptropica recently gave us a shout-out, which gives even more reason for you to check it out!

Anyway, be sure to catch up on all the happenings below. Stay popping, Poptropicans! 😀

App-date with chat, Balloons, MotM Island & costumes!

Hey Poptropicans, SFish here with news on the Poptropica app (P-App-tropica? I’m crediting fellow PHB authors Slippery Raptor & Spotted Dragon for the puns and pics in this post 😉 ).

App-arently, the Poptropica mobile app for iOS and Android has just gotten another app-date. The first thing you’ll notice is Dr. Hare’s app-solutely wacky Mystery of the Map assemblage on the icon. That’s because Mystery of the Map (MotM) Island was just added, for free – and if you need a walkthrough with pictures, check out our Mystery of the Map Island Guide!

In addition, two new costume packs were added, both for MotM Island. There’s the Mystery of the Map Bundle Pack, which is $0.99 like most costume packs on the app, and a second Viking Feast Pack which is free – and contains some new costumes that don’t exist in the online version: Gravy Gnasher, Bruised Basher, and Sausage Smasher!

Also, the Multiplayer Arcade (App-cade? Should I stop with the puns?) has been updated to include chat, which works slightly different from the online version. In the picture below from the Creators, you can see that when people ask you a pre-scripted question, you can choose to reply, give a greeting, compliment, or ask them a question.

And as you can see from the picture, the multiplayer game Balloons can now be played in the Arcade. (Hey, it’s Balloon Boy! He must be app-alled to find himself still in the sky after all this time…) For our walkthrough with tips, check out our Balloons Guide.

That’s a pretty big app-date for the app, but it’s not the only update going on in the Poptropica universe! In case you missed them, check out the PHB posts below for the latest happenings:

Stay popping, Poptropicans, and see you on the red carpet for the Poppies awards show coming up! 🙂
