Falling so I’m taking my time on my ride

Buckle in, Poptropicans, because there’s a long ride of updates coming your way! Who knows where this is all going, but let’s keep our eyes on the road.

For starters, we’re going to have dessert… in the form of a flower cake car. That you wear. What? Bizarre, I know. But it’s Poptropica’s 12th birthday this month, and Poptropica has deemed it fit to hand over some new wheels to all her friends. So head over to the store to pick up this free, limited-time item!

Maybe twelve is a little young to start driving, but not on Poptropica! Blue Tooth over on the Pop Creators’ Instagram has already posted a video of her zooming through town on the new ride:

Let’s take a right here, and—oh! Looks like the birthday gift isn’t the only new item stocked in the store. Fall seasonal items are here!

Let’s see what we’ve got here…

  • Poptropica’s 12th Birthday (the cake car we just saw)
  • Warm Vibes
  • Cozy Cocoa
  • Tie-Dye Hoodie
  • Splatter Tee
  • Elephant Follower
  • Flower Planting Power (members only)
  • Snow Fall
  • Jellyfish Prank
  • Autumn Scarves (comes in four colors: blue, green, yellow, red)

Pretty neat, and best of all, most of them are available to everyone (with only one member item)!

Speaking of fall, Home Island got a fall seasonal makeover! It’s currently only on mobile, but the autumn colors are lovely, and even the buildings were treated to some touch-ups. There’s even a new cocoa stand, although it’s just for show, next to the Blast-off Arcade, which is now pushing out steam. Plus, brush up against any of the leaf piles and leaves will flutter!

(As you can see, that magic carpet from the Aladdin ad is pretty good for taking screenshots! Plus it’s just so fun to glide around with.)

Stay with us—we’ve still got a couple more updates to share. Poptropica has hit us with quite the swerve with this web browser layout change:

New layout on Poptropica.com
Thanks to Gentle Dolphin for the screenshot.

They’ve kept the sidebar ads but also added a new element below the game screen: a call-to-action segment to read the Creators’ Blog, and beside it, a random auto-playing video. Videos I’ve seen in this space include ones from Poptropica’s YouTube channel as well as outside content from Kidspiration. You can click on the video to hear sound, pause it, or enlarge the screen.

Not only that, but the new layout also shrinks the screen of the game itself (wasn’t having a bigger screen one of the perks of SUIs?). With all the distractions around the game screen, this really seems to inhibit players’ ability to enjoy their time on the site, don’t you think?

And finally, Poptropica has picked up its Poptropica Lookbook again. They first mentioned #PoptropicaLookbook on their Instagram three weeks ago, asking Poptropicans to share their outfits, and Mighty Rock, clad in blue hues, has been selected for a feature!

By the way, Poptropica, that’s the glass from the Carrot King Diner on 24 Carrot Island, with which you could mix drinks of various colors. A long time ago, you could dye your Poptropican’s hair this way — just by mixing the color you wanted. Ah, how times have changed!

Whew, we made it to the end. Let’s park it right here, and don’t forget to leave your thoughts below. Thanks for riding along, Poptropicans. See you next time!

Poptropica Original syncs across devices, usurping Pop Worlds

It looks like the Creators have been hard at work on something, at least, because they’ve just announced a major app update: You can now log into your Poptropica.com account on the Poptropica Original app!

To update (or download, if you don’t have it yet) your Poptropica app on your mobile device, simply head over to the App Store (for Apple) or Play Store (for Android) and install the latest update. Then, you’ll be able to access pets, new shop items, and your Island save data!

Actually, it’s now much the same as the online version of Poptropica, but with this major difference: there are less islands on the app than on the computer. But hopefully, over time, more will be added…

Another difference on the app is that we don’t have clubhouses yet (or friends, for that matter). But again, maybe those things will come with time. There is a coming soon sign on the clubhouse door, so we’ll see.

It’s still a pretty impressive update from the Poptropica dev team, but it raises a question: with Poptropica Original now able to sync across devices, what will happen to Poptropica Worlds, which was the first Poptropica app to do just that? (And, in fact, was created in order to keep up with the latest tech…)

Play across multi-devices!

With the recent change to the home page last month, Poptropica Worlds was quietly removed from view, although you can still find a link to play it if you search the internet. Having gone a year without being updated, perhaps it’s safe to say there are no plans to continue with Worlds?

In other news, Poptropica’s Milk It campaign is still going strong! It turns out the Photo Booth was updated as well, with one new background and four new props related to the act of drinking milk.

Anyway, that’s what’s popping in Poptropica! Will you be playing on the Poptropica app more? What islands should they bring to the app? What do you think should happen to Pop Worlds? Let us know what you think of these updates in the comments below.

Somebunny made some printable Pop valentines 💕

Hello, Poptropicans — it’s Lucky Joker here! Valentine’s Day is coming up on Thursday, and it looks like Poptropica has taken notice.

You can celebrate by printing out these 6 adorable Poptropica valentines. To print, right-click below to save the image to your computer, and then go to print the file.

They’re the perfect gift to give to your friends or that special someone on this lovely occasion.

Also, be sure to update your Poptropica Stickers app to see the 6 new Valentine-themed stickers that have been added.

You can download the stickers app in the App Store of you don’t have it yet. (By the way, will the app ever be available for Android, Creators?)

I wonder if Poptropica’s got anything else planned for Valentine’s Day this year. They did however mention that there will be “new updates coming out for pets later this month.” (Though they never actually announced the arrival of pets on the Creators’ Blog…)

Thanks for reading as always, and I’ll talk to you in the next one.

Poptropica Stickers App, Sneak Peeks

🎶 It’s the most POPtastic time of the year! 🎶

What’s up, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here with exciting news! Let’s pop into it.

This just in from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog… there are soon going to be more ways to connect with friends on Poptropica!

For a feature coming soon to the Blast-Off Arcade, you can see in this sneak peek below a wider array of fun emojis as well as a chat icon, indicating a new text chat feature! It’s unclear at this point whether we’ll get to type out our messages or if we’ll at least be able choose from a larger amount of chat options, like before.

A new profile page is showcased in another sneak peek—and it’s completely different from the current one we’re accustomed to! This one is a lot more social media inspired, I’d say. It’s got likes, friends, a display of photos from the Photo Booth, and more. I wonder what the sticker wall is all about… 🤔

profilepage

I personally think the new profile page looks really cool! As much as I’ll miss the old one, I can definitely say I’m looking forward to this version being put into the game. Both of these updates will be effective sometime this month, according to the Pop Creators.

Next up, we have some new holiday stickers in the Poptropica Stickers app! There are 14 new stickers and they’re all so cute! Check them out:

This app is only for iMessage for the time being. You can find the app in the App Store on any iOS device.

And lastly, you might’ve noticed a blank medallion for a Clubhouse Island (just like the Lego Island one from a few months ago). Thanks to Popular Noodle for the tip!

Though we’re not entirely sure why it’s here, my guess is that it’s related to the “clubhouse link” button on the new profile page sneak peek from earlier. Seems like Pop is going to be introducing personal clubhouses to Poptropica Original—probably accessed through the closed tree house door on Home Island. Pretty neat, huh?

treehouse soon

And that’s it for today! I appreciate Poptropica listening to their fans on social media and adding all of these cool updates. Poptropica, if you’d take one more suggestion… I’d really really like a new island in 2019, or maybe even a “Create Your Dream Island” contest if you guys are running short of ideas over at Pop HQ. 😉

Welp, you’ve heard all of my opinions, but what do you think of all these upcoming features? What other stuff would you like to see in Poptropica?

Thanks for reading as always, and I’ll talk to you all in the next one. Pop on!

Membership, Poptropica Stickers App

Something to be thankful for… D.C. Diner is BACK!

How’s it going, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here, back with Poptropica news!

The classic MiniQuest, D.C. Diner, has returned to Poptropica for a limited time with a new exclusive prize to be won!

Play between now and “16” (perhaps they mean 26?) to win a Magic Hat (that’s the prize 😉 ), and reference our guide if you need any help along the way.

In other news, it looks like Poptropica is having a little Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale of their own! Currently, the 3- and 6-month memberships are discounted by about 20%, going for $8.99 (instead of $10.99) and $15.99 (instead of $19.99) respectively.

In the announcement, Poptropica also hinted at several new updates coming our way (including clubhouses and a revamped friends page!) which might have members-only perks—so all the more reason to get one, right?

This offer will be available until 11:59 PM EST on Monday, November 26, so take advantage of it as soon as you can!

And lastly, the Poptropica Stickers app has received an update with five new stickers for fall and Thanksgiving. (The Halloween ones are still in the app though. Interesting.)

Still, it is only available for iOS devices. To get the app, just head to the App Store and search “Poptropica Stickers” to download it for free!

And that looks to be about it for now. Thanks for reading, as always, and I’ll talk to you all soon… pop on!
