Hello! I'm Slanted Fish, the editor-in-chief and creator of the Poptropica Help Blog (PHB). I'm a writer, Hong Kong native, and Christ follower. My Poptropica username is slantedfish ๐ Don't forget to be awesome!
Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got a little sneak peek and a load of fan art features coming right up โ let’s pop right in!
Remember the sketch of the wild baking sesh from a couple weeks ago? According to the Creators’ Blog, it’s almost time for this mini-quest involving Amelia and her friend who also has a statue on Home Island!
As the event looms near, she’s looking plenty calm sipping her tea, despite the chaos of a plane dropping boxes in the background…
Meanwhile, the Creators have been dropping a few hints for the forthcoming experience, saying: “you may have to go to freight lengths as a favor to Poptropicaโs leading lady.” Considering that freight pun and the sneak peek we just saw, we may be having some transport trouble delivering goods in the skies! Either way, prizes are promised. Stay tuned!
That wraps up this post! What are your speculations for what we might be facing in Amelia’s mini-quest? Who’s the mysterious fellow statued figure immortalized with her on Home Island? What tunes would you pair with Poptropica islands? Share with us in the comments!
Stay awesome and keep poppin’ on, Poptropicans! โ๏ธ
Hey Poptropicans, this is aย guest postย by Theo’s Ghost.ย Enjoy!
Hello again PHB readers! Whether youโre still enjoying summer break, going back to school, or donโt have a school to go back to, I hope youโre having a great August!
This August at the Dimension Bros YouTube channel, Isaac and I are taking a short break from making videos. Fear not, because weโre returning next month, and this time we want you to join us!
Next month, for Poptropica’s birthday in September, fans are celebrating is Poptropica Month. The video above explains it all, but the gist is that during September, Poptropica fans are invited to upload their own Poptropica YouTube videos for our Pop Month 2021 playlist!
Now the point of this guest blog isnโt just to advertise the project (we already did that last year).ย Most peopleโs Pop Month videos last year were their first time uploading to YouTube, so I thought Iโd give some video-making advice to the next generation of Pop Month participants.ย Hopefully, it might give you a bit of confidence!
Note: This event is typically for ages 13+, but you are younger than 13, you can have an older sibling or parent/guardian submit your video for you.
1. ๐ค Coming Up With Ideas
You might know everything there is to know about filming, editing, and uploading, but all of that knowledge is useless if you canโt come up with an idea for what to make!ย Coming up with a good video idea can be tricky, but luckily you have all the inspiration you need with the Poptropica Month 2020 playlist.ย
There’s a lot more possibility than a Thinknoodles-esque walkthrough โ anything can be a Poptropica video!ย If you make digital art, you can do a speedpaint!ย If you have a clubhouse, you can give us a video tour! If you just like playing the game, you can make a gaming video!ย And if you still canโt think of a good idea, maybe try asking others for ideas.ย Some of our favorite Dimension Bros videos were ideas we got from other peopleโs suggestions, so it doesnโt hurt to ask.

2. ๐ฌ Recording Your Video
The most exciting part of making a video is filming it!ย And believe it or not, this is probably the easiest step once you have your video plan thought-out and ready to go.
The tricky part can be determining what hardware and software to use for your video, but we’ve got you covered here:
For IRL videos, just use your phone/tablet/computer camera. Most cameras built into devices are pretty good quality. You don’t need to go get a new special video camera.
For gameplayvideos, OBS Studio is a great screen recording software (that can also be used for streaming). Itโs completely free and there are plenty of tutorials online on getting it set up.
For videos with voiceover, a good software to use is Audacity, as it lets you really edit your audio to where youโre happiest with it. And if you have a Mac, QuickTime Player (which is already on your system) does audio recordings as well.

3. ๐ฅ Editing Your Video
This is the part of the process that can make or break your video. Editing is not as simple as the previous two steps, but itโs just as important. Unless you filmed your entire video in one perfect take, some editing will be required for your video.
Our officially endorsed editing software at Dimension Bros is iMovie for Apple devices. Every single DB video was edited with iMovie, and it hasnโt steered us wrong yet! If you have an iPhone, iPad, or any type of Mac computer, iMovie is completely free and might even already be installed.ย Itโs fairly easy to learn, and it can help you make some great videos!ย
If you donโt have a device that can use iMovie, a bit of internet research can point you to some free video editing software.
Final Cut: Edit or forget it.
4. โฌ๏ธ Uploading Your Video
The home stretch! Uploading your video can be an excruciating task, as you just want it to be out in the world already!!!ย
As for giving your video a title and a thumbnail, thatโs totally your call on what you think is best for the video. But there are a couple parts the uploading process worth noting if you’re participating in Pop Month.
First, when uploading to YouTube, do not set your video as “made for kids,” even if your video is kid-friendly. Videos that are marked “made for kids” can’t be added to playlists, so if you want to officially be a part of the Pop Month collab, your video cannot be set as “made for kids.”
Second, donโt forget to set the category of the video as “Gaming > Poptropica”!ย Even if your video isnโt of you playing Poptropica, itโs still a video about the game, and using the right category helps make your video easier for other Poptropicans to find.
Other than these two things, everything else is your choice, like the title, the thumbnail image, or whether or not you allow comments. Itโs your video after all!
Now if all of that seems daunting, worry not.ย There is another way to participate in Poptropica Month besides making a full YouTube video, and thatโs Instagram!ย Throughout September, weโll be compiling all your different Poptropica Instagram posts, so that at the end of the month we can make a slideshow of all your works to put on YouTube.ย
To join, just post something to Instagram about Poptropica this September, tag the DB Instagram account (@dimension_bros), and use #PoptropicaMonth.ย Simple as that!ย Weโll be sharing every Pop Month post to our Instagram story, and saving all of them in a highlight reel, so follow us if you want to keep track of Poptropica Month posts.
So thatโs about it!ย Poptropica Month 2021 is less than two weeks away, and weโre looking forward to seeing what videos/posts come out this year!ย
We have some exciting stuff planned for Dimension Bros videos, but weโre sure some of you have exciting stuff of your own planned too. And to those not participating, enjoy all of the Poptropica content coming your way this September!
Sound Affects: It affects us all very deeply.
Hope you enjoyed thisย guest postย by Theo’s Ghost. If you did, you might also enjoyย another post of his: the Poppies-winning Gamer Clubhouse Tour.
The Poptropica Help Blog welcomes interesting Poptropica insights from anyone in the Poptropica community with thoughts to share. Interested inย writing for the PHB? Weโd love to hear from you! ๐ฐโจ
Next up is a clip from @basicbutstillvibin remixing the meme-able line, โdonโt make me choose between you and her.โ The battle is fought between homework and Poptropica โ and the winner is clear. ๐๐คบ
Then we’ve got a mini painting from @violetmasque (previously @toothpick_with_eyes), who shows the process of converting their computer keyboard’s “P” key into the Poptropica letter logo, complete with the iconic yellow blimp. Epic! โจ๏ธ๐
Another artistic twist comes from @binarybard, who shares transformations for several Pop characters: Mademoiselle Moreau, Binary Bard, Black Widow, and even one of the governor’s men from Skullduggery Island. Looking expressiveโand impressive!
Wrapping up the showcase are a couple recent TikTok clips from the Pop Creators themselves, which you might’ve seen here on the PHB. One goes dark with the madness of various Pop villains, while another shines a light on decorating Pop clubhouses. Tok about what makes Pop tik!
That wraps up this walk through Poptropica TikTok! If you make Pop TikToks, you can tag the Creators @poptropicacreator or drop a link on their submissions page. Who knows, it might get featured next!
Heyo, Poptropicans! This week in Pop news: cop some credits, clubhouse vibes, cakewalks, and even a mysterious console. Pop in for a peek!
First off, island completions are awarding credits again! The feature inexplicably disappeared last month, but a little Pop Petition might’ve helped bring it back. The Creators’ Blog announced this in a post that promised more shopping to come and gave tips on how to rack up more credits. (But hey, the PHB’s got you covered with even more ways.)
Fat Stacks: Towers of treasures. Mounds of money.
โA credit saved, is a credit earned.โ โTime Tangled Islandโs Benjamin Franklin, so says the Creators’ Blog wisdom
Next up is a little TikTok on the clock (’cause the party don’t stop). The latest short video to drop from Pop shows a Creator decking out a clubhouse with plenty of homey decor. It’s even got music!
And if you’re like me and live in a country where TikTok is blocked, fret notโyou can still view the vid on the Creators’ Instagram story.
Speaking of sweet vids, the Creators also dropped a video playthrough of Disney’s Magic Bake-off ad game! In case you missed it, check out the PHB’s coverage of this cake-making limited time event.
Last but not least, on Wednesday, some intrepid PHB readers shared an odd sighting: the Mjรถlnir, aka the Realms hammer, made an appearance in the lower-left corner of the menu screen! Clicking on it brought up a small window on the upper-left corner known as the dev console, a tool for game developers that shouldn’t normally be available to players.
Of course, the dev console didn’t reveal any significant findings to us plebes who don’t know how to hack it, and it soon disappeared from view. Still, a strange sight to behold! Now if we could bring back Realms, that would be something…
That’s all for now, though. Keep on popping on, Poptropicans!
Hey Poptropicans, pop in for some power costumes from the store and a heavy dose of fantastic fan art. Plus, time’s ticking for the costume contest!
First up, a new week brings another store rotation at Adventure Outfitters! Poptropicans can get a new Power Swimmer costume for 250 credits. See the full stock on the Creators’ Blog ยป
Power Swimmer
Meanwhile, pet-tropicans can try on the new Dino Suit, Toast Head,ย Lion’s Mane, andย Bedazzled Bow (75 credits each). Gotta loaf that bread head! ๐
We’ve also got tons of fan art features today, courtesy of the Pop Creators’ Instagram stories! From OCs to costume design contest entries, here’s a look at the latest fan drawings:
Speaking of the costume contest, the deadline is coming up next week, Monday, August 23 at 8 pm PST! Find some inspiration up above, and be sure to check out the Creators’ Blog post for all the details on entering. Your costume could be the next to be added in-game!
That’s all for now! Keep on popping on, Poptropicans.
