Onward, Pufferfish King!

Hello, Poptropicans! Today, we will be looking at some news that even a king would find amusing. Now then, let us move onward to our first story!

We have a new set of ads for Pixar’s upcoming fantasy film “Onward.” When exploring the magical lands of Poptropica, you will never be too far from Ian and Barley’s quaint mushroom house. You are welcome to go inside and embark on a little quest of your own in between adventures.

If you decide to go inside, talk to Barley. He will let you know that the neighborhood has been invaded by pesky trash-eating unicorns and give you a magic staff to use. Press the spacebar to fire magic rays and shrink the unicorns, and click the mouse to jump over trash cans in your path.

For completing your quest, you will be handsomely rewarded with the Wizard Staff and the Blazey Follower. Now you have the power to shrink your enemies and feed them to your mighty pet dragon! Okay, maybe you shouldn’t do that.

The magic doesn’t end at minigames and prizes, though. Go to your clubhouse and open your inventory to find five special “Onward” posters! Here’s what they look like in the clubhouse:

A few days ago, Poptropicaย put the spotlight on a player named Invisible Ghost, who is rocking a unique aesthetic to say the least.

The first picture of the gallery shows Ghost in his clubhouse. Inside, the tree is adorned with many pufferfish, and Ghost himself is wearing a pufferfish costume along with a peg leg and a leopard cheetah hat (this was one of the member gifts from September 2019).

The last three pictures show Ghost jumping on Home Island, with each picture zooming in progressively closer to the smug-looking cheetah. And the Creators’ Blog, which also showcased his style, commended the player’s “dedication to The Aesthetic.”

I wonder what he’s thinking at the moment? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Celebrating Valentine’s Day at lightning speed

Happy Valentine’s Day, Poptropicans! We hope you and your loved ones are having a great day. Today, we have some news that you’re sure to love (or like, at least). Let’s get started with a shocking store update.

The winner of Poptropica’s 2020 costume design contest (“Lightning Wielder” by Instagram user @bianca_donka) is finally in the game! Visit the store and get this electrifying costume for free, but hurry before it goes away in a flash.

The “Lightning Wielder” doesn’t come with any space bar actions, despite the ideas put forth by its designer. But the lightning arm does come with an animating dazzle!

Along with the “Lightning Wielder” costume, there are plenty of Valentine’s Day-themed goodies available for purchase in the store this month.

Make this Valentine’s Day special by going to the cinema and watching the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie. Speaking of Sonic, you can spot some billboards advertising his movie around Poptropica. Unlike normal island ads, this one doesn’t include any games, videos, or prizes. Clicking the billboard just directs you to the movie’s website.

An ad with no games to play or videos to watch seems kind of underwhelming. However, take a step back and you’ll notice that the game screen has been changed from the normal blue to a bird’s eye view of a city at night. Take a look:

Also, Frozen 2 ads have returned to advertise the film’s digital and home media release. Like the original ad, you have to watch a short video in order to win two prizes: the familiar Olaf Follower and the new Wind Spirit power.

To use the Wind Spirit power, equip the red leaf then press the spacebar to be lifted into the air by a flurry of leaves. Pretty neat!

Earlier this week, Blue Tooth took to social media to let people know that February 10 is National Pizza Day. ๐Ÿ• She posted a video of her Poptropican and her rabbit Dorf waiting for lunch at the diner on 24 Carrot Island, and mentioned that they were waiting for quite a while. The owners were probably preoccupied with the threat of global domination at the time…

That’s about it for now. What are your thoughts on the “Lightning Wielder” costume? Are you going to watch the Sonic movie when it hits theaters? Have you seen “Frozen 2,” and do you plan on re-watching it? Are you craving pizza right now? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you for reading, and have a happy Valentine’s Day! ๐Ÿ’˜

Now it’s time for cake!

Good day, Poptropicans! Hope it’s going deliciously delightful!

Earlier this week, the Pop Creators posted an Instagram story asking users to decide which cake flavor is superior: vanilla or chocolate?

The winning flavor is chocolate, earning nearly two-thirds of the overall votes! Chocolate cake is good and all, but that slice of vanilla cake has sprinkles. I’m having a hard time choosing my favorite.

This cake discussion recently moved to the Creators’ Blog as well. Although the post does not have an official poll, users can still place their votes in the comments section. Aside from setting up this delectable debate, the post also mentioned something to look forward to tomorrow…

…the fact that the winners of the second Poptropica Costume Contest will be announced this Friday! Very soon, we will find out which lucky Poptropica fan gets their design made into an in-game costume. Stay tuned to find out the results!

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

Stylin’ and dreamin’

Hello, everybody! Gentle Dolphin here with news of recent Pop updates!

It may be the middle of the month, but we still want to highlight the January member gifts! This month, members are gifted six exclusive items: two outfits (Stylin’ Oufit and Cool Outfit), two pet accessories (Bling Glasses and Bling Collar), and two furniture items for your clubhouse (Cinema Lightbox and Classic Record Player).

*Special thanks to Osmium for providing the clubhouse picture!*

This is definitely a cool member pack, but there are a couple small things I want to address. First, the Stylin’ Outfit looks incredibly similar to an outfit from Poptropica Worlds. I mean, just look at these two photos and try to tell me they’re not the same:

Second, the Pet Barn has been updated to include the Bling Glasses and Collar. Strange that two exclusive items are being sold in an in-game store, made even more so by the fact that they are marked members-only in said store.

JanMemberGift_PetStore

Along with new member gifts, January also brought aย store update! Like last month, the January update features many older items and costumes. That’s cool and all, but 11 of the 34 items are for members only.

What’s also unfortunate is that the prices of these items have gone up and I mean WAY UP! While most of the items are within the normal 250-350 credit range, a few of them are now worth up to 500 CREDITS!!! Yikes! Your dreams of owning that Mini Dr. Hare follower may seem impossible, but don’t give up hope! Speaking of dreams…

In case you missed it, January 13 was National Make Your Dreams Come True Day. Poptropica celebrated by sharing words of encouragement on social media along with an inspiring illustration from Blue Tooth.

follow ur dreams day (1)

You heard right!! Here’s a word of encouragement from the Poptropica Creators to you! No matter what it is that makes you happy, big or small, chase it until it’s yours!

Work hard! Take breaks! Learn from your mistakes! Be patient with yourself! Most of all, stay hydrated! Very important. WE’RE ROOTING FOR YOU!!

On the Instagram version of the post, several people have commented some dreams that they want to come true. One dream that a lot of people mentioned and agreed with was to bring back all of the old islands. Hopefully, that wish will come true soon

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

A musical end to a year of makeovers

Hey Poptropicans! From all of us at the PHB, we hope you all had a great holiday season with family and friends. ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ‰โœจ

Over on the Creators’ Blog, you’ll find a post highlighting some of the biggest Poptropica events of the past year. Their 2019 highlights mention:

  • the arrival of the pet barn (and a hint at “more fluffy friends” to come),
  • the store redesign (this and more were in preparation for moving off of Flash, they say),
  • device syncing for Poptropica Original (originally a big draw for the now-inactive Pop Worlds), and
  • Reality TV: Wild Safari Island (“uniquely awesome” for letting players earn unlimited credits with replays).

The post ends by saying “big plans” await in 2020โ€”including the upcoming Zomberry Island remake!

We’ll be posting our annual Poptropica & PHB Rewind on New Year’s Eve, so stay tuned for that as well!

Poptropica’s last ad of this year happens to come from the first cartoon of next year: Owl House. To begin your adventure, enter the titular Owl House and talk to Eda. She will tell you that King has been kidnapped by a demon and give you her staff. All you need to do is move your mouse left and right to move around and avoid falling monsters.

Saving King and winning the game will reward you with two bewitching prizes: the Flying Staff and the King Friend Follower.

With the end of 2019 comes the end of the 2010s decade. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Poptropica music composer Jeff Heim is counting down the days by releasing 10 music tracks to Soundcloud! At this point, his playlist contains three previously unreleased Poptropica soundtracks, with possibly more to come.

The first Poptropica track in the album is called “Vampire’s Transformation.” Although the title implies that this song was made for Vampire’s Curse Island, it actually debuted in Poptropica Worlds’s Greek Sea Odyssey. You can hear it when you arrive at Mount Olympus before your big encounter with Zeus. Here’s to hoping that we get a Vampire’s Curse remaster soon!

The second track is called “Arabian Palace.” Unlike “Vampire’s Transformation,” this track is currently in the gameโ€”it can be heard in the sultan’s palace in “Arabian Nights, Episode 3: Careful What You Wish For.”

The third track is called “Drive” and could once be heard at the start of the Flying Ace Race on Monkey Wrench Island, which no longer exists as it was replaced by another tutorial, Snagglemast Island, earlier this year.

It’s nice discovering these tracks, and if you like them, I recommend also listening to Jeff’s non-Poptropica music, which you can find on his Soundcloud.

Thank you for reading, and have a good day!
