My Place in Poptropica: Lucky Fish

This is a guest post from Lucky Fish sharing their My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey.ย Enjoy!

2014-2016 | From Mobile App to Computer

Hey Poptropicans! My name is Lucky Fish. Iโ€™ve been a Poptropica fan for about as long as I can remember. I started playing around 2014-2015 during my years of preschool and a little before. Why did I start playing when I was literally 4? Well, my dad had downloaded it to his phone so I could play it when I was bored. He figured it was just another app about getting kids to learn. I soon realized it was more than that.

I have absolutely no idea what that account was, but I do remember my favorite part of playing is making characters (I had a lot). Around 2016, I began actually learning to play the islands! Of course, I could not do it without the help of Thinknoodles’ walkthroughs.ย

Friendly Folk: All so nice and polite, for a while at least.

Speaking of Thinknoodles’ walkthroughs, knowing how to watch them meant I was able to learn that there were more islands than just the mobile ones. I realized it was also a computer game, so I asked my parents if they could lend me their computer to let me use Poptropica there. I was then able to discover loads more islands that were just waiting to be clicked on.

2019โ€“2020 | White Cheetah and the end of Flash

Around 2019, on a family vacation, I was feeling very sick. I was about 7 or 8 at the time. It is here that I made my first actual Poptropica account that I could stick with. Introducing: White Cheetah. I used to think that this account gave me good luck, and it’s the account I first beat multiple islands on (like Mythology for example).ย

In 2020, the pandemic hit, and I wasnโ€™t playing Poptropica as much. But when I came back to it, I noticed that lots of the islands were missing. I went searching and found out about the whole end of Flash situation. That day involved tears… a lot of them. Soon, I stumbled upon the Old Island Directory, and it was useful until it stopped working.

2024โ€“2025 | Flashpoint at the Library and Lucky Fish

In the summer of 2024, I started playing Poptropica lots more. It was just so fun again! When I found out about Flashpoint, a way to access old islands, I asked my parents if I could get it on their computers. They said no because one was for work, and one had no storage left. So after school, I began going to the library, and downloading Flashpoint every single day just to play the islands (everyday because the computers were wiped of all history each morning). I would stay there for hours, until one day they started blocking sites at the library, so I couldnโ€™t play there.

I had been asking for a computer for a while, and finally on my birthday, I got one. The first thing I did was download Flashpoint and play Poptropica. I played there for about a month when I wanted to let my sister try it out. But when I hit โ€œnew playerโ€, that account was wiped. So I started with a new character, Lucky Bean, where I completed lots of islands.

Power Load: Just watch me explode!

In the summer of 2025, on Flashpoint Poptropica, I wanted to try out the AS2 version to see if it was different. In doing this, my main AS3 data was wiped, and I had to start over. After shuffling names for a good while, trying to get Lucky Bean again, I came across Lucky Fish. I chose this one because it still had Lucky in the name, but โ€œFishโ€ made it sound more water related. So, I stuck with it, and Lucky Fish is now my main Poptropica account. This summer, I also started my own site,ย The Poptropica Fan Blog.

Poptropica has been a huge part of my life, and taught me many things (including my rights!). I hope you enjoyed reading about my life on a digital web game. Thank you for reading!ย

My Place in Poptropica: Brandon K

This is a guest post from Brandon K sharing their My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hello! My name is Brandon K, and I’ve been a semi-longtime player of Poptropica (started about 2014 or 2016, I don’t remember). I want to write this post to share my experience with Poptropica, because I’ve had some really good experiences with this game, and I still enjoy it now.

I got into Poptropica with my sister, who first led me to this game, and I started off my Poptropica journey on 24 Carrot Island. I spent about 20 minutes just messing around with the drink mixer in the Carrot King Diner, until my sister told me what to do, and I had some more trouble trying to figure out how to befriend the cat. (I was new to point-and-click games.) Eventually I figured it out (albeit with a lot of help) and then she just led me through the rest of the island.

After this, I started exploring things like the Store, and noticed that you could buy costumes! I thought this was the coolest concept ever, and I tried to learn the game a bit better, so I played 24 Carrot until I felt I could do another island no problem.

So, I hopped over to the next island my sis recommended, S.O.S. Island. This island was ok, but at the time, I wish I could’ve played the members’ bonus quest, because the island just felt a little too short.

Flooded: How’s a person supposed to breathe down there?

Eventually, I found that I’d completed every island that the game could offer! I was so overjoyed because I had a whole bunch of credits, and so I went to the Store, and bought some cool costumes that I thought were awesome. (You might see me post some of my costumes as ASGs on the Discord). Out of all of these islands, Zomberry Island was just so good. I liked the storytelling, and all of the mini games it had were really good.ย

Fast forward a bit to about 2020, and I log on to see that Flash was going away! I was so sad as I watched all of those islands that brought me hours of fun just disappear, never to return again. But it was ok, because I still found fun by hanging around in common rooms with others, and playing mini-games, as well as playing some of the remaining islands.

Breakdown: Looks like a bad neighborhood.

Fast forward again to 2022 โ€” Even more islands were gone! I was devastated to find this out, and at the time, I forgot about the game because it just wasn’t fun anymore.

Then in 2023, I found out about the new islands that were introduced, but they just weren’t the same. The art style just wasn’t like I remember. But I found fun, yet again, when I stumbled upon the PHC and Flashpoint! I had finally found the community of Poptropica gamers that actually cared about this game, and I was finally able to relive those younger years, and play all of those Islands I enjoyed so long ago. I guess you can say it’s nostalgic.

Wonderland: You can’t have more fun under one roof.

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

My Place in Poptropica: Golden Feather

This is a guest post from Golden Feather sharing their My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hi, I’m Golden Feather, and this is My Place In Poptropica.

I first started playing Poptropica around 2017, when I was 6 or 7. I saw it in an ad, and so I decided to try it out. I figured out a lot of the islands, but I could never figure out Red Dragon Island (based on Magic Tree House). I really liked Spy Island, and this was back when you could customize off NPCs, so I had a lot of fun with that.

Fish Out of Water: The pond outside this hut isn’t finished yet.

I actually still have access to my first account, where my name was Icy Shell. (I was a sucker for mysterious names.)

Around 2020, my account stopped working, so I had to make my current one. So now I am Golden Feather.

Poptropica was a big part of my childhood, and I am so glad I decided to click on that Poptropica ad that fateful day in 2017 (or maybe it was 2016?).  I even got my lil bro into Poptropica now!

I always dreamed of winning the costume contest, and being rich in credits. I have achieved the credit dream, but not the costume one… yet.

World Warriors: Welcome back to the stage of history.

Thank you for reading.

Your favorite neighborhood psycho,
-Golden Feather

My Place in Poptropica: Fearless Goose

This is a guest post from Fearless Goose sharing their My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hi guys, I’m Fearless Goose and this is my first ever blog post.

2019 | A blue book

It was a normal day in 2019 during school when I saw a blue book titled Poptropica: The Official Guide. When I got home, the first thing I did was check out Poptropica. I was 7 at the time, so I donโ€™t remember the account name sadly.

I was so excited to play, and the first map I played was Mission Atlantis, Episode 1. But being so young, after facing the first challenge, I ragequit for a month.

Hot Seat: This outfit will go straight to the dome.

2020 | Take two

The second time I played Poptropica was around 2020, a few months before Flash was discontinued at the end of the year. I played a few maps, but I didnโ€™t really like the game, because for my 7-year-old brain, it was very hard.

2024 | Resolution

This year, one of my resolutions is to play games from my childhood, one of them being Poptropica. I was heartbroken to find out about most of the islands being removed, but happy they were a part of my childhood. I went from ragequitting to easily beating all of the remaining islands. I also enjoyed playing with my interesting character.

Well thatโ€™s my story. And if you have free time, just write your story. To see how to send in your story, click here.

This is Fearless Goose, over and out.

Breakout: Some forces cannot be contained.

My Place in Poptropica: Magic Kid

This is a guest post from Magic Kid sharing their My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about oneโ€™s Poptropica journey.ย Enjoy!

Hello there! Itโ€™s Magic Kid here. In light of recent events with membership going down, Iโ€™m going to be sharing a “My Place in Poptropica” story. (Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™m still working on my fanfic. ๐Ÿ˜€)

Getting Introduced to the Game

I was introduced to Poptropica in third grade by one of my friends who absolutely LOVED it. I started playing and quickly I realized why he loved it so much. Soon my other friend joined in, and then not long after, Poptropica became a big hit in our classroom!ย

No one (well, maybe besides my friend who completed every island) was as obsessed with Poptropica as I was. I spent an excessive amount of time playing poptropica nonstop played it on a regular basis and definitely got the right amount of sleep every night.

Tuck In: Time for a long night’s sleep.

The first island I completed (well, besides the Monkey Wrench tutorial) was 24 Carrot. Itโ€™s the island Iโ€™ve probably played the most times, and it always will have a special place in my heart. (Thatโ€™s why I lay off Dr. Hare a bit when he’s being roasted for being overrated.)

An island I had a lot of fun doing in particular was Mythology, probably because I knew all the stories. I was an expert at that island, and I remember the other kids in my classroom always came to me when they were stuck on that island.

Around that time, I noticed and strongly disliked when games force-fed me knowledge and facts, but with Poptropica, I didnโ€™t care. In fact, Poptropica actually encouraged me to try to learn more! After playing Virus Hunter, I wanted to know how viruses worked, after Time Tangled, I wanted to learn more about history, and so on. I had so much fun playing Poptropica. It was my favorite thing to do!

It seemed nothing could go wrong.

Good to Know: Poptropica is your one-stop shop for biology facts.

Things Go Wrong

Of course, things go downhill. I moved away from all my friends, and I didnโ€™t play Poptropica as often anymore. During that time of chaos, Flash โ€” Poptropica’s main engine for over a decade โ€” met its end.

Play on Loop: Let’s try to keep things on track.

Monster Carnival, my favorite island, was gone, along with so many islands I loved so very much. So I played even less. My homework was no longer covered in Poptropica doodles. I only logged in once a month (if I remembered to), and that continued for many years.

Costume Contests

One day (after a few months without logging on), I opened Poptropica to see that there was a new island! I was really excited and I played it a few times soon after. Not only was there a new island, but the Baron’s ship was parked at Home Island. I went up that ladder to find out that I could design a costume and get it in the game!ย The spark was lit again.

I started drawing so many different types of Poptropicans, it was crazy. I did almost nothing else. To the dismay of my parents (who ban video games, and dislike computer games ๐Ÿคฃ), I was obsessed once again!

Evil, Inc.: Three takes on one villain.

I kept submitting costume designs month after month, but nothing I made seemed to catch the Poptropica Creators’ eyes. Still, I understood because there must have been a TON of submissions to go through each month, and I was still learning to draw in Poptropica style.

Then the 12 Days of Member Gifts design contest came. I submitted my limit of ideas and waited.

Day seven (my favorite number) came, and I opened the Creators’ Blog to find that my costume, “Just Chillin'” made it in! If you look at the comments on that post, you can see that I was beyond delighted to have had that happen. It was absolute glee of the purest sort! May have been an overreaction, but what the heck, who cares?

Discovering the PHB and the Fandom

I found the PHB through an interview on the Creators’ Blog. I started checking in once in a while, read some posts, and then started commenting, too! I saw a Community Creations post and I began entering. Since the Creators’ Blog hadnโ€™t posted anything for a while, I retreated into the PHB. I started remembering screen names and making friends. Plus, I was becoming a better artist by the day!

I started a fanfiction: Zombies, Zombies, ALWAYS ZOMBIES! I have a lot of fun writing it (when I donโ€™t have writer’s block). And I joined the PHC on Discord, where I have a lot of fun chatting about random theories and stuff. I love it there so much!

“The PHB team” by Magic Kid

I was really excited that there was a fandom! Normally with the stuff Iโ€™m into, the fandoms are either massive or non-existent. Finding the Poptropica fandom was a Goldilocks moment for me.ย

This may sound odd, but Poptropicaโ€™s been a good rock for meย โ€” a good place I could go back to after a stressful day of work, a hard time with school, and so on.ย Iโ€™m really grateful for this fandom and for the game. I wish the best for its future.

I hope you enjoyed hearing my “My Place In Poptropica” story. You can friend me with the username: BravestChicken. Iโ€™m also on DeviantArt and YouTube. If you’re interested, I can try to draw some Popsonas!

Thank you so much for reading,
Magic Kid
