Poptropican’s 911: Issue #4

Hey Poptropicans! Recently the Poptropica Help Blog has published the fourth issue of our monthly newsletter, The Poptropican’s 911. This time we have TWELVE ultra-creative tales told by the bravest citizens around the Poptropica world. Green Seal is about to discover an unknown island, some lucky girls win tickets to a vacation at Shark Tooth Island, and the Agent Shadow trilogy wraps itself up as Shifty Shadow is brought to Evil Island. So, come read the 911 for September 2009!

Go give it a read.

We have also updated our ‘Poptropica Poll’ sidebar widget, so join in and submit your vote now! Our latest question reads, ”What do you think of the Pathwise game on Poptropica?”, and it’s based on the recent release of this brand-new puzzle game where you must click on tiles and try to connect to the other side before your opponent does.

August 2009’s poll question was, ”Which Poptropica Creator(s) have you met so far?” Here are the results:

Option | Votes | Percentage
None yet, but I hope to meet one really soon! | 1,151 | 17%
Director D | 884 | 13%
Dr. Hare| 883 | 13%
Comic Kid| 803 | 12%
Shark Boy| 794 | 12%
Binary Bard| 732 | 11%
Vlad the Viking| 698 | 10%
Hazmat Hermit| 530 | 8%
Thirsty Whale| 423 | 6%

Hope you’ll enjoy reading our 911 this month, and maybe even be inspired to submit your own entries! Congratulations to everyone who entered something for the 911, whether it made it or not. 🙂

In other news, those of you who are between 6 to 12 years old are in for a treat! There’s an advertisement building on Main Street that includes a mini-quest and a costume for your reward. Shark Boy from the Poptropica Creators’ Blog has supplied the world with the following image:

The helicopter at the top brings you to the town of Chewandswallow, where you must rescue an off switch and return it to its maker! It is advertising a movie called Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which is based on a book with the same title. After you find the off switch, which is located on the left side on top of a building, you’ll get to sail on a gigantic sandwich!

The image at the bottom shows the Bedknobs and Broomsticks ad building game, which Gazek has described in this post:

Have fun on your adventures!

The Time Traveler’s Friend?

Once again, the Poptropica Creators bring us new Cool Stuff! Thanks to Icy Ice of the PHF, we bring you news about the latest items:

The Time Travelers Friend?
Introducing the Time Freeze and Follower!

Like predicted, the Follower is now out! Along with it is the Time Freeze, with which you can “freeze time” in Poptropica! It causes basically all action around you to stop. Some may call it useless (as I do), but as the PHF member ShaggyTornado says, it can be useful for screen shots of Poptropica. The Follower comes in several flavors: Bee, Spaceship, Bubble, Hearts, Hummingbird, Butterfly and Flies.

Aaaa! Bees!
Aaaa! Bees!

To me, the Spaceship seems awesome! I’m sure most girls will pick the Heart, of course. I was hoping that Mordred’s bird (Merlin) would be one of the “Followers” but no luck there. 😦

Both are the same price: 250 Credits. If I actually had the credits to buy one, I’d buy the Follower, as it seems the coolest! 🙂

Signing out, motionman95

UPDATE (Hijuyo speaking): I created a Multiverse room for some friends at the Poptropica Help Chatroom. On behalf of these guys, here’s our picture:

Sept4'09 Multiverse

Among the people I met were Friendly Berry (SassySweety), Green Seal, Undefined Undefined (binarybard_evil), Dangerous Lightning, Creepy Monster, and Curious Burger (Sneakyc)! Thanks for hanging out with me! 🙂

Jordan’s Enchanted Bedknobs And Broomsticks

Enchanted Poptropicans, Holy Cow! A new Advertisement Building! This building seems to be for almost all ages, but in case you can’t find the ad building and wanna play it, just make a new account but with a younger age. Although, I must say, the movie title is really strange. I mean… Bedknobs and  Broomsticks?

The problem is  the King has stolen Astoroth’s Special medal. How rude of you, king!!! This is not kingly behaviour at all!!! Now, Your job is to go to The Isle of Naboombu, and win the medal back from him. I know, I know, It’s got really strange names… And you might be wondering how to get to the Isle. Simple, Just go too the next floor, and jump on the bed, and click on it. Then the bed starts flashing all the colors of the rainbow, and you get transported to the Isle. You’ll see a sign telling you not to go in, but be brave and ignore it, and walk on. And then, once you continue, you’ll see a soccer field. Continue walking, until you see a lion {King}  in robes. Talk to him, and accept his challenge to the soccer match. It’s very easy, just penalty shots. After you win, take the medal from the king, and go back to the magic bed transporter.

Now, talk to the guy who told you about everything. He’ll give you the costume: The Soccer King Cotume! It’s not called the soccer king.. He has a king costume on, and holds a soccer ball! Now you can throw soccer balls by pressing space bar!!! Oh, and we have discovered Dr.Hare’s (Jordan Leary) Email! Mail to: [email protected]. We’re Not sure how jordan will react to emails about poptropica, so be warned.

Ok, Now having to go to sleep, and still have only played pathwise Once,

Gazek.

Limited Edition Robin Hood! And a mask…

Golden Eagle popping in from a school day. Homework, check. Read a chapter of my book, check.  Study for quiz…QUIZ? Oh yeah, check. 😀

Anyway, there has been a new costume reported in the Poptropica Store. It’s another LE one (Limited Edition). This time its Robin Hood, and it comes in two colors, a first for the LE costumes.

For the post:

Attention Protectors of Sherwood Forest!

The wardrobe for the Nottingham legend has expanded! Limited supply of fabrics or the new styles has caused a shortage of costumes to distribute, so grab yours while you can!

  Vlad The Viking

Since that picture from the Creators Blog shows the black version, I’ll show the white version.

This LE costume also seems to have a Limited Number ticket onto it. Noo!!!

Not BUYERS IMPULSE!!! *faints*

I also went to a Multiverse room today, and was I lucky! I got to meet one of the Creators, Hazmat Hermit! 😀

untitled1

In the picture you can see Hazmat Hermit, of course. You can also see Shaggy Tornado (who visited the party as Tall Ice), me, Deathstalker (there as Big Bird, in the corner of the picture) and Serious Fox (Blue Ring in this picture). She’s been wanting this for a while, so I’ll give it to her. Visit her Poptropica Blog here.

I also took some other pictures with the other people at the party (I had a little trouble….).

2

You can see me, Shaggy Tornado, Moody Skull, Golden Butterfly (also known as Maroon Fire), Cool Fly, Eddie305, Rolling Moon, and Serious Fox’s main account.

The mask Cool Fly has may be a Lego Bionicle mask (according to Deathstalker, and I’ll believe him because it looks like he knows what he’s talking about most of the time). Or, some people say it came from the limited number Golden Pop Star outfit, which is no longer on sale.

Anyway, I’m out.

Peace!

RAWR! Poptropica Homepage Edits!

UPDATE: Thanks to Blue Robot, we now know a 4th creator and their username! Justin Lacy is confirmed to be Hazmat Hermit! Click this link to see PROOF. For more details and speculation of the “who’s who” mystery of the Poptropica Creators, you can check out the post under this one by Gazek and this thread by ÐéåᶵҤșɫΔᶩҝƩƦ.

Not much real exciting news in the world of Poptropica! However, there is a new advertisement in between locations. It’s for the new PBS Kids show Dinosaur Train. It is (from a quick look at Wikipedia) created by Craig Bartlett who also made the television series Hey Arnold!, a show that I loved. 😀 It premieres September 7th. Check it out!

Sorry, there’s no sound. =( Also, this ad only shows up for 6-8 year-olds. So, if you want to see this in Poptropica and you’re older, just create a new account.

Next, there have been some minor edits to the Poptropica website itself.  As you know, the avatar studio was recently unveiled, and the creators added a button for it.

Just wave to the camera, Raymond! ;D
Just wave to the camera, Raymond! =D

Also, the little yellow button/spiky balloon thing that was next to Astro Knights that provided a link to the trailer is gone! I suppose it wasn’t really new anymore. =P You can find it and other videos at this link: CLICK ME =D

We also have discovered a news site that gives more confirmation that RTV Island is still coming out! This article also details that there will be Poptropica books releasing soon, too! Cool! It also details that Poptropica has (at the time the article was written) made it to the list of the 300 top viewed websites! Be sure to read this whole article below:

http://www.allbusiness.com/media-telecommunications/publishing-book-publishing/12592507-1.html

This next article also gives some neat achievements Poptropica has managed to achieve. DId you know that more than 120 MILLION characters have been created on the website? THAT’S OVER 9000! They also periodically get 7.5 million kids visiting their site a month. They all come from over 70 different countries! Did you know that Poptropica even comes in over 90 different languages to accommodate all of those visitors from all of those countries? Awesome! Article:

Wow. Looking back on Poptropica, I have to say it has come a long way. From day one, it has continued to entertain and impress many with its engaging islands to play and more ways to hang with your buddies than you can imagine. All I have to say is… THREE CHEERS FOR POPTROPICA! YAY!

Also, please do not forget to check out the posts below! Get in the know about the new devilish and angelic costumes in the Poptropica store, the newly released Avatar Studio, and the name change of your favorite Poptropican! Hope you all have a cookie-filled, Poptropicariffic day! ^_^
