Sneak Peeks

You saw it here first on Poptropica!

It’s Thursday, July 29, 2010. Yes, the time has come for Greg Heffley to present us the cover for the FIFTH installment in the popular kids’ pentalogy. Of course, you can find Greg on any of the Poptropican islands.  A wise man once said, “I should really shut up,” and I’m going to do just that. 🙂

*fangirl squeal*

Whaaaaat. Best book cover art evar? It’s not the beautiful truth, it’s not the MYSTERIOUS truth, it’s the… UGLY truth. And Greg has an egg in his hand. That’s pretty awesome. Although the book cover art has been revealed, we may have to wait some time before the actual book is released. The ugly truth is that the book comes out on November 9th, 2010 (see what I did there? :D), but fear not, fellow Poptropicans, I’m sure it will be most definitely worth the wait!

In more Poptropica-related news, the creators have presented us two more installments of Poptropica Tips and Tricks on the Creators’ Blog. Of course, these two tips/tricks (Randomizer and Dial-A-Costume) have always been available for viewing on our Cool Stuff tab under Cheat Codes. There you can also find many more Poptropica Tips and Tricks. Enjoy!

"NO! I don't want a freaking police hat, you stupid phone; JUST GET ME TO A 911 OPERATOR!"
Steamworks Island

MASSIVE PUN AHEAD

We got another sketch from the Creators, specifically Binary Bard, that develops a “Hub” that will be located on Steamworks Island. They promise that they will clear everything up about this sketch in times to come… because right now it just looks like a potpourri of drawings that feature metal gears with attaching pipes and gizmos. Very mystifying.

One of the places you’ll visit on Steamworks Island is what we call the Hub. It’s a sight to see! A rickety tower, a massive drawbridge, and pot-bellied steam stoves powering everything. Safe to say that you’ve never seen anything like the Hub before.

Er, at least, you won’t have seen anything like it. To start with, this marvel of modern engineering just looked like this:

Yes, it’s hard to see what all the hubbub is about — yet. Just wait until you see how this one develops!

The post is called, “What’s all the Hub-bub?”.

…BWAHAHAHAHA.

Get it? HUB-BUB! Because a hubbub is an uproar? And we’re talking about HUBS?

🙂

Advertisements

Finnmona and Brookezus

During your current adventures in Poptropica, you might find two more new advertisement buildings that you can try your hand at to get fabulous prizes!

Goldfish:

The snacks that smile back have been all sucked up a vacuum cleaner! It’s your job to rescue them all by going through a maze trying to find doors that cage your cheesy friends within the two-minute time limit. Clicking on the keypads starts a short video that you have sit through. (You’ll shortly realize how thirty seconds can feel like an hour.) After the video finishes, you are given a numeric code that you must punch into the keypad. Pressing the big red button finally lifts the door; you can then run up to the Goldfish as it jumps up to your screen happily. You repeat this for all five Goldfish, and you’re set! Just be wary of any incoming metal rock thingies trying to hinder your path to success. All in a day’s work! Also, if you have some sort of object that enables you to fly, use it by all means! It’ll definitely make your journey much smoother.

lol, paradox

For all of your good deeds, you receive a ‘Goldfish Outfit’ and a ‘Goldfish Stalker Follower’! I am sporting the two in the above picture. But if you’re like me, you don’t want to sit through multiple monotonous clips just to get a code. Luckily, the codes are the same for everyone. So, I can just list the codes right here:

  1. Xtreme (orange, excited face) – 53279
  2. Brooke (light yellow, female) – 34418
  3. Swimmington (orange, smug face) – 54234
  4. Finn (yellow, sunglasses) – 89721
  5. Gilbert (brown, salt on body) – 73592

Ramona and Beezus:

The movie starring Joey King and Selena Gomez has been made into an advertisement building to spread the word for its premiere on July 23rd. Ramona wants you to help her paint her mural. You must completely breathe color into her painting in ONE MINUTE, or else you fail. You must never fail Ramona. To succeed, you have to constantly make sure you have lots of paint to brush all over her picture. What I did was just charge until my paint gauge was full and just scrub with my mouse as fast as I could in horizontal strokes. You will be rewarded with a ‘Magic Paintbrush’ once you complete her task. If you are stationed near a fellow Poptropican and you press the space bar, you will paint them a new color!

I made the Goldfish guy gold. There's probably a really cheesy (HA!) pun I could make about this; I just don't know what.

EDIT: Special thanks to captain_t3chn0 and Loud Shark on the Poptropica Help Chat for informing me about other ways to have fun with your Magic Paintbrush!

A. Pictured here is what appears to be Hercules un-becoming (is that a word?) a statue. All you have to do is wave your brush in front of him, and he just suddenly jumps out of his inanimate counterpart. Now he can have his statue and his moving limbs! That’s like hitting two clones of Hermes with one stone.

B. You can paint the cat. Have I mentioned that your magical paintbrush also paints the subject’s eyes? ANIMAL ABUSE!

C. You can paint the dummies. What’s interesting is that if you paint one of the dummies it will also paint the other dummies simultaneously. 😮

ALSO, for anybody who’s having a hard time finding these ads, I personally found the Goldfish ad on Shark Tooth Island and the Ramona and Beezus ad on Early Poptropica Island. If you can’t find them here, I recommend searching across the other islands’ respective Main Streets.

Bonus Items, PHB Sneak Peeks, Skullduggery Island, Wallpapers

The pirate life’s for me!

Hello Poptropicans! Recently, a trailer for the soon-to-be-released Skullduggery Island was released to members only! Of course, it would only be fair if all could witness a sneak peek of one of the most swashbuckling islands yet! Ladies and GentleMannes, I present to you the spectacle that is a preview of the adventures you will have on Skullduggery Island (courtesy of shaned46):

Notice the pirate-y, jolly tunes playing in the background. Wouldn’t it be just awesome if that could play in the background while you explore the island? *winkwinknudgenudge*

The other special item that was given to members was an exclusive Skullduggery Pirate costume. Here’s a picture of me in it.

Yarr har fiddle dee dee bein-- NO, SHUT UP!

More on Skullduggery, you can now see it conveniently placed on the Map, of course with a “COMING SOON.” It sure does look menacing!

"You sure you want t'sail up THAR, Captain?"

Finally, a new wallpaper was released by the Poptropica Creators. I would recommend you replace your current desktop background with this new one in order to, as the kids might say it, “stay hip with the crowd, yo.” At least, that’s what I hear…

Go to http://blog.poptropica.com/2010/05/new-wallpaper.html to download this "psychedelic" and "groovy" background.

Well, that’s about it! I hope you had an awesome week, and we here at the PHB hope you also have a Happy Mothers’ Day this weekend!  Make sure to let her know your gratitude and appreciation for everything she has done for you, no matter how great or minute.

Oh yeah, thanks to Cheerful Panda/Aphrodite who helped me with this picture by obviously posing as the mom. 😀 Click here for a link to Giant Penguin’s Poptropica Blog, a blog that she works on.

Bonus Items, Mythology Island, Reality TV Island

Only for the most daring/bored of all.

It’s no April Fool’s joke. Poptropica Members will have Early Access to Mythology Island beginning this Thursday, April 1!
(information from the Poptropica Facebook page!)

And as stated on its information page, Mythology Island will be open to all on April 29, 2010. Almost a month away. x_x

Today, Dr. Hare showed us on the Creators’ Blog that your Island Medallion card for Reality TV Island actually keeps track of the amount of seasons you have dominated in on the island! Unless you beat Hippie Harry to fame and fortune, in which case I despise you.

Exhibit A: A common result of extreme boredness.

Dr. Hare continues to mock us in his post by challenging us to beat his high score of a whopping five seasons won. He then questions us how many times we have completed Reality TV Island, the latest island brought to you by the creators. He also probably should’ve asked us how many times we have been way too busy to even play Reality TV Island. 🙂

As the lazy boy I am, I am a 1-time winner. Tell us: how many times have you completed Reality TV Island? Haven’t even completed one season? What are you doing then? Head out to that island and compete! With guide in hand, you’re sure to overtake the bunny himself.
