Hey everyone, and welcome back to our BTS Overview &ย Theory series! This time, we’ll be covering PoptropiCon, Ep. 2: Spoiler Alert, written by myself, Samwow5, and HPuterpop (thanks to Fishy for writing the last BTSO&T). To read our BTSO&T for the first episode of PoptropiCon, click here.
(By the way: PoptropiCon, Ep. 1 is now available on the Poptropica app for 99 cents!)
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW (but thatโs what you want, isnโt it?)

Overview of evidence
In the last episode of PoptropiCon, we broke into the building by using a catapult (which went along with what we predicted). Sure, this got us in to the building… but what next?
Card Deck (see card images below)
The winner of the PoptropiCon costume contest will earn a one-of-a-kind prize. See if you can put together the ultimate villain outfit, but beware โ the action at this convention is about to get real!
From the synopsis of the episode, we can already tell that we will be competing in a costume contest (the recently posted Poptropicon 2 poster also supports this).
Anyway, let’s first take a look at some of the major Spoiler Alert themed Daily Pop sneak peeks. As with all images in this post, please click to enlarge the pictures.
As you may be able to gather yourself, there will also be some sort of card contest. That’s two contests already… could there be any more? Below are what the cards will look like.
Dirt Claude
Elf Archer
Gold Face
Fashion Ninja
Hench Bot
Meow Bot
Mutton Chops
Omegon
Pony Girl
Teen Arachnid
Trash Collector
World Guy
Phew, I think we got them all! I also want to mention (from the Daily Pops above) that the last two images hint at us having to avoid surveillance or something to that effect. Now let’s take a look at some behind-the-scenes dialog and text:
Well, we seem to have clarified the card game, which is related to the Poptropica-invented franchiseย “Mighty Action Force”. The dialog also tells us that we will be looking for an Elf Archer costume. Could the card game be related to this? Maybeย what we have to accomplish in this episode is just to collect the perfect items for the perfect costume.
We also wanted to mention how this episode will in fact have a common room! If you didn’t know already, episode 1 wasย updated with a common roomย (after its release, strangely enough).
In the “Demo Hall” image, you can see the edge of the “Showdown” Daily Pop. In the last image, you can see the edge of the “Galaxy Litigation” (poster) Daily Pop. In multiple images above, you can see posters for the costume contest. Nothing else is really given away, but it gives us a good sense of what we will see.
There isn’t anything else worth showing to determine the plot, so here is our final theory! ๐
Final theory
In PoptropiCon – Episode 2: Spoiler Alert, we will put together the best costume possible to win the costume contest. To do this, we go around doing certain tasks, such as winning a Mightyย Action Force card game. Butย before we can win, we have to collect all the best cards.
That mayย not sound like the deepest theory ever, but hopefully it sparks some ideas! Are you excited for PoptropiCon: Ep. 2? We definitely are! ๐
It’s that time of the year again: Halloween is approaching, and that means it’s time for the PHB’s annual Halloween costume competition! Now for the 6th year in a row, you can enter your best creepy costume and hope to win a spot on the PHB’s Costumes page (plus, theyโll be featured on the PHBโs front page when the winners are announced on Halloween (October 31, when the contest ends).
This year, because of our (upcoming)ย recently achieved milestone of 14 million blog hitsย (as of October 16), we’ll be showcasing fourteenย of our favorites as winners! Sound awesome yet?
Before you rush out to put together your masterpiece, please keep these rules in mind:
IDEAS: Be original! We like to see that youโve put effort into creating something spooky yet fashionable for the season, so simply copying (as opposed to mixing and matching) will probably hurt your chances. There are some great costume parts at the ghoul gathering from the end of theย Haunted House quest from the Store, as well as the collection of recently-made-free costumes in the Store, but be creative and search in other places too!
DONโT CHANGE: Keep your costume intact until after the winners are announced. If you change your costume back, we may not get to see your spooktacularย entry!ย If you donโt want to keep the costume on your main account, you can create a new one and post that instead.
ENTERING: After youโve created your costume, hereโs how you should post your entry:ย go to theย Avatar Studio, type in your username, clickย Load, click on theย Linkย to highlight it, right-click and choose Copy, go to the comments section onย this post, right-click and choose Paste, type in your comment and submit so we can view your costume by clicking the link! Name your costume and post the username if you want.ย If you are having problems with the Avatar Studio, just post the username so we can check it. You may submit as many different entries as you like, but you can only win a maximum of one time (out of the 14ย winners to be chosen).
(Protip:ย For inspiration, past winners can be viewed on the Costumes page!)
have your scary face on? good, now enter if you dare…
Hey Poptropicans! Just a couple of new things worth mentioning: a new “inside Poptropica” video, and an ad for Lalaloopsy Girls! Read on for more details, and be sure to catch up on the posts below!
Monster Carnival Island: duck monsterย process & a doodle
Poptropica has posted yet another behind-the-scenes video, this time showing the process of animating the monster in the pool of the duck game on Monster Carnival Island! Veryย cool. ๐
Going slightly off-topica, Poptropica also tweeted a doodle made by a Poptropica illustrator (signed “MRCER”) during a lunch break. Click here to see the beauty: it’s a sheepย rocking out on a guitar!

Lalaloopsy Girls ad
In addition to the new ads giving outย bobblehead headwear, girls who log in may also receive a pink card that says “Like my cute outfit?” If you click on the only button (“Get blue braids!”), it should take you to the Lalaloopsy Girls ad, which is also a common room. (Unless you don’t live in the US, like me, in which case you’ll be brought to an ad-lessย Main Street. Anyway, I couldn’t access the ad, but Silly Pelicanover at Poptropica With Scary Plug (PWSP)ย could โ so SP,ย thanksย for your insights!)
If you’re able to get over all the pinkย in the atmosphere and step inside, you’ll find some character bios for the Lalaloopsy girls, a music video withย the dolls, a jar that “glitters” your screen when you click it, a Dance Party power, and two dummies with cute outfits you can Costumize. Enjoy! ^-^

Boo! As you may have seen, the PHB has a new spooky header โ plus, I’ve changed my attire for the Halloween season, which you can see in the header or sidebar.
Plus, stayย tuned to the PHB for something even more spooktacular coming soon. ๐
Whatย isnโtย happening in the world of Poptropica? Prepare to have your mind blown with all the new things happening in the Poptropica universe!ย ๐
New ads: Star Wars Rebels & Skylanders Trap Team
Ads have been getting a lot of hype recently – what with banners, cards taking you to the ads, carousel slots, and mentions on the Creator’s Blogย – and the funny thing is that the actual ads themselves are just billboard ads. The two newest are for the Star Wars Rebels and the Skylanders Trap Team.
Upon logging in, you’ll obtain two cards that will take you to each ad. After watching theย trailer videos for bothย campaigns, you’ll collect a Snap Shot Costume from the Skylanders ad, and a Stormtrooper Helmet from the Star Wars ad.
My favorite out of the two is the Stormtrooper helmet, as it has a bobblehead effect – and while the teal dragon costume does as well, I think the helmet looks cooler. ๐
Thinknoodles mention
I recently sent in some fan art to Thinknoodles (a popular YouTube gamer who plays Poptropica), and he gaveย me his “Golden Noodle Award” on his Minecraft Survival series! ๐ The idea of this is that in each episode, someone who sent in an awesome idea or cool fan art gets a sign on Thinknoodles’s tree with their name on it. Watch the video below and skip to 0:52 to see my mention. ๐
As for the artwork, it’s a drawing of his Poptropican, Speedy Catfish (his username is thinknoodles), and I put a lot of effort into this one. I also have a new drawing software, which I think will improve the quality of my art, and thus the quality of your Poptropica Portraits. ๐
Poptropica Land: public preview
The Creators recently announced that a two week long public preview for Poptropica Land will be commencing October 16th (in 6 days!), and will end October 30th. There’s even a countdown to the big day on the front page!
During this period, everyone, including non-members, will be able to access Land. This is a big opportunity for non-members to send in their creations to the Creators. They’ll be posting their favorites to the blog as mentioned in the post. ๐
If you want to prepare for the preview, be sure to check out our Poptropica Land guide and overview here, as well as check out the recent happenings with Land – stay tuned to the PHB for more updates on this event. ๐
Upcoming big launches
Poptropica recently tweeted a “behind the scenes” email from Poptropica HQ about some upcoming big launches. (Oh look, they use Gmail! ๐ ) As mentioned above, next Thurs (Oct 16) they plan to release public access to Land for a Poptropica-sponsored contest. On the same day, we’ll be getting a “New Start World” and some “polish and bug fixes” to Land as well! We’ll have to wait to see what’s new.
The Thursday after that (Oct 23), the first episode of Arabian Nights (How Bazaar) will be released to all! And finally, coming soon to Poptropica’s mobile app is Ep. 1 of PoptropiCon (no date mentioned).
Mission Atlantis (Ep. 3) concept art
Yet more concept art has made its way to Poptropica’s Twitter feed โ this time, some beautiful black & white sketches for Mission Atlantis, Ep. 3: Out of the Blue. (Click to enlarge the pictures!)
Poptropica Pioneers
I’ve recently started a new video series on my Youtube Channel similar to Thinknoodles’ Road to Captain Thinknoodles series, entitled Poptropica Pioneers. The idea is that a few days after I release my video walkthrough for the newest release, I upload a recording of me trying to figure out the island/episode for the first time.
From the feedback I’ve been getting, people are really seeming to enjoy it, so check out the first episode below and tell me what you think. ๐ Of course you’ll be able to view new releases of walkthroughs and Poptropica Pioneers on my channel, so go subscribe to that if you’d like. ๐
Free Halloween costumes
If you remember a few weeks back during Poptropica’s 7th birthday, a couple of ghastly costumes popped up in the Store and then strangely disappeared. They have now returned for Halloween spirit – and if you don’t remember, they are the Egyptian Mummy and the Scarecrow from the Haunted House quest, now made into gold card items. You can get them for free in the Store!
In addition, you can get some more free Halloween-themed costume cards from the bottom half of the Store page! These aren’t new, but they’ve never been free before today either.
Girls can get the Furry Monster 1, 2, and 3, Werewolf Girl, Bride of Frankenstein, Vampire Girl 1, and Little Demon; boysย can get the Furry Monster 1, 2, and 3, Werewolf Boy, Frankenstein, and Little Demon โ all for the great price of 0 credits!
Among the many projects Poptropica is currently undertaking, Shrink Ray Island is being remade into an SUI (sound-updated island) โ but not just that, there are going to be new characters/costumes! Like all the classic islands, it will still be a full island, rather thanย an episodic one. Poptropica tweetedย this screenshot of a couple of characters wearing recycled trash:
That’s not all โ they’ve also created a new YouTube playlist called “Inside Poptropica”, and of the clips currently in there, two now threeย of them are new! The first one shows Creators attempting theย audio forย different weirdย voices forย “I’m a skull in a jar”ย (for the Lockwood & Co ad), another one shows the rendering of the Milk Box Head character depicted above, and the lastย video is just a silly ten-second clipย of a Poptropican with a disco afroย affected byย the Big Blue Zomberry power dancing inside the Club Nouveau Riche on Game Show Island. Watch the playlist below:
Behind-the-Scenes: Dr. Lange rejected art & Poptropica comic book?
Poptropica continues to tweet more behind-the-scenes images, as they have been doing recently.ย Check out this cute doodle of Dr. Lange from Virus Hunter Island! (It wasn’t quite the lookย the Creators were going for, though, so it was rejected.) Still, what a cheery doctor. ๐
Another sneak peek theyย tweeted was this illustrated comic pageย (not strip!) of an untoldย Jorge & Oliver adventureย with Vikingsย โ andย apparently, it’s coming January 2015! The colors are more saturated, too, so if this is what it looks like, perhaps they’re planning to make Poptropica comic booksย available in print! (They didn’t exactly confirm this yet, but that’s my guess!) Itย would be pretty rad. ๐
Forgotten Islands to 3DS next week
Some time ago, we mentioned here on the PHB that Forgotten Islands, the fetch-questy Poptropica game currently available on iOS, will be made for the Nintendo 3DS as well. Well, this upcoming video game has a release date now: October 14th, which is next Tuesday!
The storyline of Forgotten Islands is not the same as any island on the online version of Poptropica, and if you’d like to check out what it’s like, take a look at the PHB’s Forgotten Islands Guideย under MiniQuests! The 3DS version is likely to be the same as the iOS version, however.
Poptropica app to Kindle Fire
Poptropicans with a Kindle Fire, there’s good and bad news: Poptropica is working on an app for this device, but it won’t be around until early next year. (If everything goes according to plan!)
@PerezJesus11 Sorry, but probably not until Feb or March of 2015. Long, legal, frustrating, corporate, ugh, story. ๐ฆ
Poptropica has tweeted some pretty cool Poptropica Land creations just in the past week or so (they’ve been calling them “today’s Poptropica Land WOW!”). Here’s a gallery of the latest “WOW!”s:
Speedy Cactus’s water monster
Magic Spider’s humble abode
Cheerful Turtle’s big house
Serious Bird’s communal living quarters
Nice Ghost’s divided house
Messy Lion’s “WOW-WOW!” to Poptropica
Great uses of the new Props feature! For more tips and tricks on making the best out of Poptropica Land, be sure to check out the PHB’s Land guide. ๐ Stay popping, Poptropicans.
