Arabian Nights Island, Popstorms, Realms

I can show you my Realms… shining, shimmering, splendid…

Hey Poptropicans! It’s here – the ability to share your own Realms and visit (and rate) the Realms of others! Sharing is for members only, but all players can check out the “Public Realms” and give likes.

homeRotatingFeature_RealmsSharing

To share a Realm, visit the Realms menu (the bubble in the lower-left corner) and select the Realm you’d like to share, then click the “Share” button (remember, only members can do this). Once you do, it’ll be sent to the Creators for approval, and as long as there’s nothing inappropriate, it’ll be visible to the public shortly.

When it’s approved, you’ll see a Realm code in the Realms menu that you can tell people about so they can check it out. But everyone can visit other people’s Realms – just navigate over to the menu in the top-left and click the dropdown button for “Public Realms”. You can also enter a Realms code, if you know a specific one you want to visit. If you’d like, you are welcome to share your Realm code(s) in the comments here or on our Realms guide for people to check out your creation! 🙂

In the Public Realm-o-sphere, you can browse through the worlds made by members who’ve shared their Realms, give likes, and click “See More” for even more. You might even spot Poptropica Creator Black Widow’s Spider Web lava-land (and pool, if you go right)! (code: 9j548)

And Dr. Hare’s The Lair (code: 95b7p) is a brilliant re-creation of the entire factory on 24 Carrot Island, from the dilapidated exterior down to the Rabbot room at the very end.

Even Master Mime made a little something, a cactus dragon which he calls the Boa Hiyemthoum (code: 8c4yx). Does it look a little like his latest Popstorm drawing (#31, “Pups for sale!”)?

Captain Crawfish also made a video explaining the new features, which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=154&v=hcBkKbDoNqI Also, as you may notice, the Star Wars Rebels Lightsaber promotion has now ended. For more Realms tips, and if you’d like to comment your Realms code, check out our Poptropica Realms Guide. One last Realms-related note: HPuterpop took the liberty of extracting these beautiful backgrounds from the Realms menus, which you can enjoy here – the images can also be tiled!

On a different note, get ready for Arabian Nights, Ep. 3: Careful What You Wish For, which is expected to be released in July, and keep checking the PHB for news and sneak peeks. There’s a banner up on the homepage now. Djinn see that coming, did you? Arab3-homePage Stay popping, Poptropicans. 😀

Hall of Fame, Super Power Island

Hall of Fame Winner: Sneaky Bear

Yes, that time has come. The last Hall of Fame winner is here! As you can tell by the title, the winner is… Sneaky Bear! Her Poptropican is only 9 days old but has already finished 21 islands.

sneaky bearSneaky Bear can now be found on Main Street of Super Power Island. She has replaced yet another NPC, but this time the Poptropican she replaced was a character that always had a random outfit every time you visit.

Well, the Hall of Fame is now over, but the Creators say that “the doors of the Poptropica Hall of Fame may one day open again.” This graphic from the Poptropica front page, showing all the winners, congratulates the “2015 winners” – suggesting that they may bring this back in the coming years.

If you missed out on the past Hall of Fame news, click here. Congratulations to Sneaky Bear, Mighty Burger, Lazy Pelican, and Dangerous Glove, our four winners (although in the original post they had planned on six!). 🙂

Raise to 150 credits & membership to play Nabooti

Hey Poptropicans! There’s good news and bad news –

First, the good news: Poptropicans are getting a raise! Instead of the measly 50 credits we usually get for completing an island, the reward is now being bumped up to a whopping 150 credits.

150credits

In earlier years, Poptropica used to give out 100 credits for an island finish, but this is even better! Like before, the reward only applies for the first time you complete each island. Also, the amount of credits you had before this update remains the same, so if you’ve finished every island already, you’ll have to wait for the next one to come along to enjoy the bonus.

Why are the Creators doing this? Perhaps they’ve realized how hard it is to earn enough to save up for the many items available in the Store, and implemented this change out of the goodness of their hearts. Or are there going to be changes made that will make us wish we had more credits to spend?

There’s cause for suspicion, and here comes the bad news: remember how Nabooti Island recently became just a demo version to non-members, with a prompt to get membership to play the full island?

Well, the plan isn’t to make this the next SUI. It’s another ploy to make buying a membership more enticing, because here’s the thing: Nabooti Island, which has been free to play for years, now requires membership – and more changes to membership are to come, according to these tweets:

Will more islands follow the same fate as Nabooti? (Is that why we have the chance to earn more credits – before more islands are locked on us?)

Of course, this isn’t an issue to members, but this could be potentially damaging to the current balance in the offerings between membership and free-to-play: it could mean more members, or it could mean more quitters if there is too much emphasis on membership. Possibly both.

We’ll have to see what’s in store (literally? 😛 ) – but tread carefully, Poptropica.

The Missing Link

The Missing Link: The Island Misconception

Hi Gs,

Something I noticed about the recent Future Island book (and no, I haven’t received or ever ordered it yet, just received a ton of new Poptropica books) is that the story takes place on Verdana Island, according to the description. This said, I started to wonder – what if island names – like ‘Monster Carnival Island’ or ‘Time Tangled Island’ – are merely quest names. They always refer to islands as ‘Island Quests’.

Night Watch Island Logo

And the evidence sorta matches up – why would one of these islands be named ‘Night Watch Island’? There is a mall, but otherwise, there’s no reason for anyone in their right mind to name it Night Watch.

So these ‘islands’ are quests, and this explains a lot – for example, sponsored islands. In their respective universes, they don’t all live on islands. Plus, what about Skullduggery Island? That quest is made up of several islands. Fort Ridley is the island you land on, not the island that the quest is named after.

Anyway, this was just a short post to mention that thought. It clears up some things, but raises some big questions, like what are the real island names? Tell me in the comments what you think!

TAFN.

Bikers vs. Boards Island is surfing to you soon!

Hey guys! Slippery here. What, Bikers vs. Boards is coming soon?

NO. BIKERS VS BOARDS ISLAND IS NOT COMING TO POPTROPICA.

It’s just an advertisement for the upcoming Disney movie, Teen Beach 2! (Phew!) You may find one of these ads in some SUIs like Mystery of the Map Island. There are no games or anything, you just need to watch the trailer for the movie.

tbmad

After watching the trailer, you will receive a prize: a Brady follower (for girls) or a Mack follower (for boys). On another note, Brady and Mack are also costumizable, so if you want to have their look, just press the costumize button by the menu!

If you’ll excuse me, I better go to the beach and have Mack teach me how to surf. 😛

tbmad2

The Percy Jackson ad is still on other Main Streets, so check out those prizes before they’re gone! For other recent news and happenings, check out the previous posts! 🙂
