PHB Parties

Recap: PHB’s gr8 8th birthday party for Poptropica!

Hey gr8 Poptropican m8s, check out this upd8! w8 for it…

As you may know, Poptropica has been celebrating their 8th birthday these past two weeks, and to join in the 8-bit festivities, this past Saturday the PHB invited all Poptropicans to join in for a party on the PHC and Poptropica! Thanks to all those who came; we hope you’d r8 it 8/8!

8thbday recap

Don’t all those balloons look so orn8? With birthday balloons of various colors (and similar-looking musical trees) filling up the several Multiverse rooms we had going on, plus fireworks being set off as players competed in games and got turned into pixel pigs, the party rooms were definitely very lively (and laggy, because Poptropica can’t handle our partying 😉 ).

Over on the PHC (the PHB’s official Poptropica Help Chat), Poptropicans enjoyed chatting with each other, got to meet a few PHB authors (UiPE, BT, Sam, Slip, and yours truly were there!), and even had some fun on the Doodle feature with Poptropica artists like MasterPinpey!

The party went on for a few hours, and it was great to see many of you there! For those who couldn’t come, as well as those who had a fun time, remember the PHC is always open – not just during PHB parties – and we welcome you there to hang out with other Poptropicans anytime! You can access it via xat.com/thePHC or by clicking “Chat” in the navigation bar at the top of the PHB’s site.

Thanks to those of you who came, even those who were fashionably l8, and made this event gr8! Even if you couldn’t make it, it’s okay, we don’t h8. Be sure to check out this PHB post for everything about Poptropica’s 8-bit celebr8ion this month!

Happy 8th birthday, Poptropica! ❤

Here’s to many more years!

Home Island, Photo Booth

Poptropica’s very own Photo Booth!

Hey guys, Spotted Dragon here! Long time no post! I’ll hold off on the whole sorry, school, work, life, etc. speech. Let’s just get right to it. 😛

Well, the Creators just added a cool new feature to the game, specifically on Home Island. What is this great new feature you ask? The title of this post says it all: a photo booth! Upon visiting the island, you can find the photo booth next to the Shop. Thanks to Ultimate iPad Expert for the all the pictures!

PhotoBooth1

Once inside, you will be greeted by a panel of buttons on the left of your screen. They are all labeled in the picture below.

PhotoBooth2

The best part about the photo booth is that you can change the entire scene all on your own, including the characters, props, backgrounds, and more! You can either start from scratch, or edit a pre-made template.

PhotoBooth3

And don’t worry… the photo booth is available for everyone! So what are you waiting for? Go to Poptropica now to try it out for yourself. It’s right on Main Street of Home Island (also called Hub or Tutorial Island).

Photo Booth - Mixtape

Yeah, this is me showing off my mixtape (which is on fire btw). Other than my amazing photo, check out other creations from some of the other PHB authors below!

I don’t know about you guys, but I really liked this update. However it’s still new, so I hope more tools get added, such as being able to add your friends to the picture, an undo button (although the trash button works well for deleting props), a way to add unique text, etc.

So what do you think about the photo booth? Share your thoughts (and pics!) below!

App, Arabian Nights Island

An Amazing Arabian App-Date!

Hey Poptropicans! applogo

The Poptropica app received another update yesterday! First, the app logo has a brand new look— featuring Dr. Hare and the Sultan’s lamp.

When you enter the world of the app, you’ll still land on Hub Island (which came first to the app, then more recently was added online) – but now the app’s Hub looks more like the online version! Once you enter, you’ll be asked if you’re new to Poptropica. Also, characters have been added in front of buildings to introduce the various buildings.

Before heading on to the next update, the promo code (BURRITO) advertised within the app is still available — catch it before it goes! Enter the code online to receive your own Señor Burrito Follower.

Moving on, there are three new mobile-exclusive costume packs in the Hub Island Store! They are:

  • the Greek Gods pack (for boys: Ares, Apollo, Pan), (for girls: Nyx, Artemis, Demeter)
  • the Heroes of the Ages pack (for boys: King Arthur, Monkey King, Beowulf), (for girls: Joan of Arc, Queen of Sheba, Amelia Earhart)
  • the Pets pack (same for both genders: Cat, Dog, Owl)

Each pack available for $0.99 per pack. Which one’s your favorite? (Click the images to enlarge them.)

Last but not the least, the final episode of Arabian Nights — Careful What You Wish For — is now available for download! Need help finding the genie? Keep on track with our Arabian Nights Guide! Happy genie-hunting!

Recently on the PHB, Brave Tomato posted about a new feature coming to the app called “Poptropica TV“, with original cartoon videos! Captain Crawfish mentions this on the blog, and Poptropica confirmed on Twitter that the update will be coming to the app next week, but you can watch a couple of the videos in BT’s post.

That’s all of the updates in the latest version of the Poptropica app. What do you think? Make sure to enter UiPE’s Fan Art contest and watch the Poptropica cartoons! Don’t forget to leave a comment!

Shark Boy Mystery, Social Media

Poptropica… cartoons?

Hey guys, BT here to share with you something interesting the Creators have been working on. Based on their blog post, it’s going to be a feature for the app with original videos, called Poptropica TV! According to a tweet by Poptropica, it’s coming out next week to the app.

Earlier today on their YouTube channel, the Creators released two new videos! One is a cartoon animation narrated by Shark Guy (glad to see ya back, buddy!) about what sharks are actually like:

At the end of the shark video, the seal man at the end says “Tuna in next week!” There’s no official word yet, but it sounds like these short silly cartoons may be a weekly thing!

The second video is a Draw My Life of everyone’s favorite Mega Fighting Bots geek and Poptropica intern, Gamer Guy! Check it out:

Poptropica has been dropping hints about cartoon animations for a while now via Twitter, and it looks like they were about webtoons with voice acting such as these. What do you think of this first dose? I’m looking forward to what else this’ll bring!

BT out!

Contests

Announcing the UiPE Fan Art Contest!

This contest has ended – check out the winners in this post!

Heyyo Poptropicans, it’s Ultimate iPad Expert here.

You may remember from not too long ago when HP started a little contest. His contest brought many talented artist to draw his Poptropican, with the prize of their drawing becoming his new avatar.

Well, everyone seemed to have so much fun with it. I don’t have a whole lot of fan art on my Wiki user page. So, I thought, why don’t I do another? Announcing…

TheUiPEFanArtContest

You may make any sort of art. Computer, drawing, sketch, sculpture (although doubt anyone will do that), or whatever else. The piece of art must contain my Poptropican (either with or without the iPad, your choice). Shown below (you can see large versions of each by clicking on them):

(Extra: If you’d like to add more people to the drawing, may I suggest my twin Giant Hawk, username – joshuawesome8)

To submit your art, send it to my email: [email protected]. You may also submit your entries on DeviantArt, Tumblr, etc. if you’d like, and send me the link.

You will have two weeks to submit your art, as submissions will end on October 8. On that day, I will choose the top 3 winners.

  • The second and third places will receive a meme faced Poptropican (if they so desire), like the one I submitted for Andrew’s contest. They may choose any meme face they’d like, by sending me a link to it.
  • The first place winner will receive not only one of these, but also I will make them their own logo to use wherever they’d like. Winners will be announced the following day, on October 9.

So, get to work on your entries. I can’t wait to see what you all create! 😀
