Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: epiphnxy

Hey, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here to showcase yet another Poptropica fan’s artwork. The artist in the spotlight this time around is epiphnxy!

Epiphnxy is a very versatile artist who draws in multiple styles. Comical, realistic, eerie, or joyous—you name it, epiphnxy can do it! Check out this marvelous collection of his artwork below (click the pictures to enlarge them):

If you want to see more of his awesome art, check out his DeviantArt gallery. He draws many other things besides Poptropica ‘stuff’ as well. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

To wrap up this spotlight, here is some advice epiphnxy has for aspiring artists who may be struggling:

  • Do new things you’re afraid of doing. Even if it doesn’t look good the first time, if you keep trying, you’ll get there.
  • If you don’t experiment, you won’t really grow as an artist, so that’s why it’s so important.
  • Also, observe what other artists do. This helped me a BUNCH when I was starting out and using fancier programs like SAI. Watching speedpaints and seeing what techniques artists use and trying to replicate them helps a lot more than you’d think.

And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork, and hopefully you’re even encouraged to create your own! If you do create anything, be sure to share your work to our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica — we’d love to see it!

Also, don’t forget to take a look at some of the other artists I’ve featured on the blog, if you haven’t already. Thanks for reading as always and I’ll talk to you soon… pop on!

Jump in on a new login, Blobby!

Hey, Poptropicans! It’s Lucky Joker here with an unofficial sneak peek and an ad prize.

There’s a new login screen in the works for Poptropica Original that has not yet been released. Thanks to our favorite Poptropica glitcher, idk, we have the link to a beta version that you can try for yourself!

newloginscreen

If you “jump in,” you’ll be able to create a new character, which, like before, asks for your age and gender (with a cameo from Shark Boy!). On the next page, you’ll get to change your appearance, which, unlike before, allows you to see all the options at once! It gets even more fun on the page after that: you no longer have to randomize completely to change your name; instead, you can pick from a short list.

You’ll see that there are many objects (or even characters) that float by as you create an avatar. Thanks to scrooge200, here’s a list of what you may see:

Balloon Boy, Binary Bard and a hovercraft, Excalibur, Early Poptropica UFO, Ned Noodlehead in the race start blimp from Monkey Wrench, generic girl with balloons, PASE rocket, Astro-Knights rocket, generic super hero, a mime in Amelia’s plane, the Galactic Hot Dogs spaceship, the Game Show Island jet, an unpiloted pirate blimp, the Poptropica Blimp, the Black Widow in the Red Baroness’s plane, the Legendary Swords rocket, Nabooti plane with a different pilot, Mission Atlantis drone, various dragon followers, balloon animal, bee follower, generic bat, canary from either Wild West or Escape from Pelican Rock, the Dark Astro-Knight on a rocket, a dryad, a flying carpet, a Game Show Island robot, a parrot, a seagull, Sprocket, the Mythology bat, a vampire bat, a generic witch, an anvil, a safe, and a Roc Feather from Arabian Nights.

Like I said, pretty cool isn’t it? However, I do think it’s strange the creators are focusing a lot on Poptropica Original rather than their newer game, Poptropica Worlds—but I’m not complaining. What do you think?

In other news, there’s a new advertisement you can access from the island map, for the movie Hotel Transylvania 3, which is set to release on DVD and Blu-ray next month—just in time for Halloween.

No game this time—just a video trailer. Once you watch it, you’ll receive the character Blobby (pictured below), which is a handheld item that leaves gooey puddles when you press the space bar.

Well, that’s it for today! Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you in the next one.

Store

Pirated from previous items: a store stock update

Hey Poptropicans! New things are in store… literally. As we near the end of the month, it’s time for the store stock to change! (In case you missed it, yes, that’s a thing now.)

As usual, it’s a case of old items resurfacing, and this time around, in honor of International Talk Like A Pirate Day, we’ve got quite a few pirate costumes going around. Among the assortment also are various knights, dragons, and more. ☠️⚔️🐉 Take a look!

Gold cards

About 40% of the current gold cards are for members only, including the formerly free Prepare for Impact! mini-game, which still has the (now inaccurate) “Free+” label. 👀

  • Rock Singer (boys only)
  • Skullduggery Pirate
  • Spy Agent
  • Captain Cobalt
  • The Bolt
  • Templar Knight
  • Multiverse (free; also seems to be the only permanent gold card)
  • Skull Pirate
  • Medusa

  • Prank Can
  • Captain Crimson
  • Pearson Flashlight
  • Bully Bot Costume
  • Hazmat Suit

  • Bounce Ball (members only)
  • Lightning Knight (members only)
  • Plundered Armor (members only)

Costumes

Four of the six available costumes (the names and colors of which may vary by gender) are for members only. The girls’ version of the members-only Pirate Captain is quite similar to the Captain Crimson gold card, available now and not just for members. ☠️

  • Bigfoot Fanatic
  • Heart Astro Knight (girls only)
  • Earth Astro Knight (boys only)
  • Dragon (comes in blue, green, and purple) (members only)
  • Steam Robot (members only)
  • Pirate Captain (members only)
  • Dark Astro Knight (purple for girls; black for boys) (members only)

In other news…

  • The Poptropica Creators celebrated International Talk Like A Pirate Day* with a party in the Broken Barrel common room on Skullduggery Island, at about 3 p.m. EST on Wednesday, September 19. (*Aye, but Krispy Kreme ain’t givin’ out a dozen free donuts no more, so really, what’s the point, mate? Ok, that’s all the pirate-talk for this post…)

talk2blike2ba2bpirate2bday

  • Something new is coming… for members! (Yup, once again disappointing the majority of players…) At the end of the Creators’ latest post about the Smallfoot ad, they wrote, “Stay tuned to learn about the newest membership benefit coming to Poptropica!”
  • The deadline for Poptropica’s Halloween costume design contest has passed, so we can hope to hear back soon about the winning design!
  • For all levels of artists, the PHB’s Community Creations is always open for your creations! Our theme this month of September is music.

That’s all for now! Keep ‘tropping on, pop-cans.

How’s it going, Poptropicans? It’s Lucky Joker here back with another Pop Fan Artist Spotlight—it’s been a little while since the last one. Today, I’ll be showcasing the work of AllysArt!

Ally’s art style is comparable to that of Poptropica’s, but still special in her very own way. Almost all of her pieces are bright, colorful, and happy. Check out this gallery of her work below (click to enlarge the images):

If you want to see more of Ally’s art, check out her media gallery on her Twitter, @SimplyArtByAlly—she posts on a pretty regular basis.

I hope you liked this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork! Got any Poptropica fan art of your own? Frosted Smallfoot, LEGO mammoth (three ads)

Hey Poptropicans! Brace yourselves for a chill, because right now Poptropica is hosting three pretty frosty ads! (Unless you’re also counting that ever-obtrusive ad for Poptropica on Poptropica, which really needs to just go. Anyway…)

You can find all of these ads with their own icons on the map. (There are also a couple other ads we covered earlier: Next Gen and Froot Loops.) Let’s take a look!

Smallfoot is an animated movie in theaters September 28, and for the ad, you can win a Snow Ball handheld item (with space bar to throw) by first watching the video, then playing a game. To beat the game, simply move your cursor to help Smallfoot avoid crashing into anything as he makes a long descent!

Frosted Flakes is a cereal by Kellogg’s, and its ad takes you to an area where, once inside, you’ll be wearing a bike helmet (not a separate item, though). The gist of the game is to click-and-hold to jump over various obstacles strewn along a suburban street as you cycle through as Tony the Tiger.

At the end, you’ll be awarded a Tony Follower and Cereal Toss (power and handheld). If the cereal box hits a Poptropican when thrown, it’ll bounce off of them.

LEGO City is a line of LEGO products that includes a helicopter mammoth mission—the focus of this ad, earlier rumored to be made into its own island. To play the game, head inside the building and hop into the chopper. The rules are simple: avoid the obstacles, but pick up the green batteries for an energy boost.

legocity1

Once you reach the legendary mammoth, you’ll win two prizes: an Explorer Suit (which can send down snow with the press of the space bar) and Helicopter Follower.

These aren’t the only games around on Poptropica! As mentioned in the post below, Dr. Hare’s Secret Lab is also back for a limited time, from now until Monday, September 17. You can find it on the map, or access it through its item card if you grabbed it before it left the store several months ago with the store update. There’s a new Rabbot costume to be had—though it’s not an item card, just something you can Costumize. 🤖

Browse below for all the latest happenings on Poptropica! Keep popping on, ‘tropicans.
