We are now well into springtime (at least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere), and I hope the weather has been more pleasant for you than the pre-summer heat that’s happening in my local desert!

I apologize for the delay in this post, and I hope there is still enough time to pay homage to an island that many of you know is very important to me…

Astro-Knights!!

There is no shortage of things I or a giant portion of this fandom could say about this island. It’s easily one of Poptropica’s most remembered, and many consider it to be the pinnacle of the game’s storytelling abilities. Compared to islands that came before it like Shark Tooth or 24 Carrot, the world of Poptropica suddenly felt expanded and full of undiscovered potential.

While less remembered, a short book was also made based off this island, among a series of four others. It can still be bought, but hasn’t been mentioned by the team for a while, nor have any other islands ever been added to the series.

The villain, Mordred/Binary Bard, is also quite iconic, to the point of being featured in the spin-off island Super Villain. He also has a fair share of fans, art, and a cameo in a dating sim.

There is no shortage of love for this island. That being said, it is hardly mentioned by the current Pop team anymore. While the development of Fairy Tale Island is probably the most pressing thing now, it would be nice to have it remembered by the future island pantheon.

Very nice, as a matter of fact. I don’t think many fans (including myself) would have any more interest in Pop if they completely discarded the stories that got us into it in the first place.

Before I conclude this post, I would also like to highlight some fanart made for the previous Island Flash-back, Wild West. Here is some fanart of El Mustachio Grande made by Dangerous Dragon!

Now here comes your part, Poptropicans! Astro Knights and other classic islands were rendered unplayable for most people in the Flash-Haxe transition, but the months of work that the artists and writers put into it should not go to waste! Make fanart, fanfiction, videos, and guest posts. Let the Creators know what you appreciate about their past work to encourage them to preserve it!

The Fairy Fan Art Challenge

Greetings Poptropicans, it’s LJ with some thrilling news about a new Poptropica contest! This just in: the fairy fan art challenge is now underway.

In celebration of the upcoming Fairy Tale Island (the first winner of the Dream Island contest from last year), the creators are holding a competition calling all artists who are up to participate.

The idea is to illustrate your favorite character, scene, and/or item from your favorite tale in the Poptropica style. All types of media are acceptable and your drawing can be as simple or as intricate as you’d like. To enter, simply post your creation to Instagram making sure to tag the official Poptropica account (@poptropicacreators) or submit through Poptropica’s submissions form. Easy-peasy!

The prize? There will be 3 winners chosen, and not only will the team of creators (along with every Poptropican who pays any attention to the PCB and Poptropica’s social media) see your work, you’ll also be rewarded with in-game credits. How many? That is yet to be discovered… Anyway, you have until April 21 — a mere week from now — to get your entries in, so you don’t want to procrastinate on this one.

Also FYI, Fairytale Island is set to be releasing the day after on April 22! How exciting… it’s not a dream (hopefully)! The wait has actually been pretty short which is a little out of character for Poptropica at this point, so that gets me wondering about the quality of the gameplay we’ll be receiving. I’m a little ambivalent if I’m going to be honest, but I’ll try to find some more optimism.

Howdy Poptropicans, welcome to Pop Protips — your guide to the PHB and the many awesome resources available to the Poptropica community. We’re kicking off this series especially with newer Poptropicans in mind, to share fun stuff you may not be familiar with.

For our first Pop Protip, we’ll be covering our Discord server, the Poptropica Help Chat! The PHC is a fun and safe environment to chat about all things Poptropica (and more) and is moderated at all times.

To keep the good vibes going, the PHC has a few rules, which include keeping things kid-friendly, being kind, and no spamming (other than in our spam channel). You must also be at least 13 years old to join, per Discord’s terms. Breaking these expectations may result in a ban.

Channels host different discussions so that they don’t get in the way of each other. You can find the list of channels to your left. The PHC includes lots of fun channels, including #🏡home-island for Poptropica and off-topica discourse, #🎨pop-art where fandom art is shared and admired, and more! More details are on #👀survival-island.

A couple more highlights: the PHC includes tons of custom Poptropica emojis, from facial expressions to PHB staff to Ringmaster Raven as a cute birb! 🐦 You can also give yourself roles to display your Poptropica tribe and personalities based on iconic Pop characters.

Clubhouse Tour: Noisy Snowball 🏡

Hello everyone! It’s me again, Noisy Snowball! There have been a lot of clubhouse tours, so I decided, why not make one myself?

I took some time to complete the design, and now my clubhouse now looks awesome to me, so it’s a perfect time to share it. First up: the entrance. My entrance is pretty simple, but I like it!

Two palm trees greet me as I enter, with an open window allowing me to see outside and let some nice air in. And next to the window are two sets of swords and shields!

Now to the left, here is one of my two relaxation places. In the bottom one, I have a couch to lay on with my pets, a basket to hold stuff in (my pets also like sleeping in it), and one of my favorite things, a plush unicorn saying hello! Plush toys are some of my favorite things, so when I saw one in the shop, I had to get it. 🦄

Above the couch, this is where I sleep! A hammock does a really good job for me, and it’s a bit more fun than a simple bed. I also have a bookshelf with all kinds of books! It’s nice to read before I sleep. I also have a mini moon hanging over it, which looks cool, but can also remind me to go to bed if I accidentally stay up.

How about a quick view of what’s up there?

Woah! That is a long fall! Luckily we don’t take damage in Poptropica clubhouses. Anyway! There are a few lights hanging on the ceiling, and another open window, along with a basketball hoop. It’s pretty fun for some solo basketball training! Now, let’s move to the right…

Welcome to the center of my clubhouse! A few things are hanging on the wall, including a picture of a popsicle, a cactus photo, and a poster for a concert. I have to confess, the popsicle picture makes me hungry sometimes. There are a few plants up here, as well as a fake pineapple. There’s also a vanity, which I use to brush my hair and for a few other things, and a water cooler to stay hydrated. And in the middle, there’s a dog house, which my pets like to live in. Oddly, they take turns in it, but at least they’re sharing it. Now, it’s time for the top right!

Here is my other relaxation stop! We have another couch here, with a LED moon over it. I have a table as well, which has a little candle on it. But my favorite part here is the TV! I love watching TV shows and movies — it helps me relax after a long day. Maybe we could have a movie night?

Anyway, onto my gaming area! Since I’m a huge gamer, as evident from the poster, of course I needed a gaming area. And it’s really cool! A chair to relax on to browse the internet or play PC games, an awesome gaming PC with all of the essentials (and even a place to put drinks), and a speaker so I can hear everything coming from the PC! I’ve had a lot of fun over here, and it’s probably my favorite spot in the clubhouse.

Time to move down for the final area! I don’t really know what to call this area, but I guess it’s for technology. I have a table here that has a radio on top, which reports news from islands set in older time periods. It’s really interesting to hear what’s going on, especially since they aren’t as advanced in society as we are. I also have a soda vending machine, which is always good when I’m craving a soda. Plus there’s an ice cream dispenser! Getting ice cream 24/7 always cheers me up, especially after going on cruises that have had 24/7 ice cream machines!

And that’s it for my clubhouse! I hope you enjoyed it, everyone! I’m considering writing a “My Place In Poptropica” for my next guest post, but I only started playing Poptropica in January 2021, though I did know what Poptropica was for a while. So I’m not sure. People in the comments, should I do a “My Place in Poptropica” post?
