The Lost Tudor in the Wildlife!

Hey everyone, Slip here!

baaaymax

It’s been a while since I posted here, but now I’m back!

Anyway, there’s a new ad for the movie The Wild Life (called Robinson Crusoe outside the US) on Home Island! You may remember Robinson Crusoe coming to the Poptropica app a while back, but now, he’s landed his way to Poptropica online! (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the tip!)

Let’s see what’s inside…

Unlike the ad on the app, this one is a common room where you can talk to the characters in the story, check out the fun stuff, and collect prizes.

When you land on the left side of the ad and click the vine, these quirky animals will swing by on your screen:

Up near the exit, there is a costumizable Robinson Crusoe costume, so make sure to get it before it goes!

If you move to the right of the cavern, you can get a free Mak Follower! Just click and you shall receive it right away!

In other news, Mitch Krpata – the author of the second Poptropica graphic novel The Lost Expedition – is inviting everyone around Plainville, Massachusetts on September 14 to attend a book talk about Poptropica’s latest graphic novel at Jeff Kinney’s bookstore, An Unlikely Story. Don’t worry, it’s free!

If you’re interested, don’t forget to register for the event here.

Lastly, the Poptropica Creators’ poll for the new Poptropica houses has ended as of Sunday midnight, Eastern time. It looks like the “Tudor” style (#4) won! (It’s the one on the bottom left.)

I hope we can see it later this year when the New Poptropica launches! Although I really liked the Beach one (#3 in the middle) as well, because it reminds me of a modern version of the house in Steven Universe. 😛

…and that concludes our post for today! For those who are wondering about Stolen Snapshots and Community Celebrities, don’t worry because *hopefully* I can do them this month. :)))

When Robinson Crusoe appears beyond Monkey Wrench Island

Hey Poptropicans, what’s popping?

Crusoe’s on Home Island! Okay, it’s not the Crusoe of Monkey Wrench Island – it’s Robinson Crusoe from the new animated movie, The Wild Life (but titled Robinson Crusoe outside the US). There’s an advertisement for it on Poptropica, but only on the mobile app (which you can get here – looks like they’ve updated the promo page for that as well!). (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the tip.)

Anyway, I personally found trying to enter the ad room a bit glitchy – you should be able to enter just by tapping the door entrance, but it took me a few tries of logging out. Sometimes an “Action” button would appear in the bottom corner that you could also tap to enter the room.

Once you enter, you can head up to the top left corner of the room to play a game where you have 30 seconds to tap on fruit before they get too close (as indicated by their size). If you experience the glitchiness of some fruit not appearing and causing you to lose like I did, try exiting the game and going back to it – that fix worked for me. The prizes for winning are a Carmello Follower (floating chameleon; pressing the Action button makes him camouflage) and Pirate Costume.

In other news, RedRiderYT recently pointed out to us that the online Poptropica Shop is no longer selling the custom Poptropican t-shirts and hoodies. Searching for “Poptropica” on the third party website that made the clothing, TV’s Toy Box, results in a “forbidden” error.

If you have one of these shirts or hoodies, that means it’s now a (real life) rare item! Treasure it, keep it, and wear it proudly. You’ll be missed, Poptropica shirt shop.

Oh and by the way, there’s a new Poptropica tool for customization around, no download required… those who are interested can check it out on the PHB’s Glitching page. 🙂

Don’t forget, this weekend is the Closing Ceremony for the PHB Tribal Tournament! It’s going to be a lot of fun, so try to make it if you can! Check out this post for all the details.

That’s all for now – thanks for popping in, Poptropicans!

So… Quick! To the bookstore! Poptropica recently shared this drawing on social media, which they say was made by a Poptropica Creator on a whiteboard at Poptropica’s headquarters.

This Expedition is Not a Lost Edition – plus interview with book author Mitch Krpata!

Hey Poptropicans!

For all you avid readers waiting, the second Poptropica graphic novel, The Lost Expedition, has finally been released to bookstores – and those who pre-ordered the book should be receiving it soon!

You can order the book on Amazon, among other places, if you want to check out what happens next in the adventures of Oliver, Jorge, and Mya following the events of the first book, Mystery of the Map, which was also made into an island. We’re not sure if The Lost Expedition will be made into an island, but Poptropica Creator Skinny Moon recently stated that it’s not one of the islands they’re currently working on. Also, unlike the first book, this one isn’t being distributed for free online!

PHB author Brave Tomato recently uncovered some pretty cool info about the third book as well, which you can check out here. In the meantime, here’s the description for book two!

Oliver, Mya, and Jorge continue their search for home, with a few hilarious stops along the way. As the friends set sail for new sights, they find the evil Octavian is still hot on their trail, and he’s determined to get his hands on their magical map. To make matters worse, a mysterious organization is keen on expelling the three friends from Poptropica. As the pals travel, they find that each island is filled with its own unique brand of peril, and the mystery surrounding the map and Poptropica itself begins to unfold. Will our trio be able to once again outfox Octavian and discover the identity of this secret society?

Over on the Creators’ Blog, there’s an interview with the author, Mitch Krpata (who, by the way, is the voice of Captain Crawfish)! Here’s an excerpt below, but you’re encouraged to check out the full exclusive interview on the Creators’ Blog!

So, Mitch. Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m married and have two young kids and a dog. I like to watch movies, read books, play board games, and sleep late. Anything that doesn’t require me to leave the house.

How long have you been working on Poptropica? What do you do exactly?

I have been working on Poptropica from the beginning. I was part of the team that met every week in a windowless conference room to brainstorm ideas, and also helped to lay out Early Poptropica. My main job has been to write the island scripts, but I also help with marketing and promotion, licensed products (like the books and Ubisoft games), making our YouTube walkthroughs… I’m also a real cut-up on Slack.(Editor’s note: He certainly is. His gifs are epic.)

Tell us something random about yourself that Poptropica fans would find funny or surprising.

I love professional wrestling. One day I will convince the powers that be to let me make a Lucha Libre Island.

Can you give us some hints about books 3 and 4?

Book 3 will finally start to answer some of the many, many questions that have come up in the first two books. It’s also action-packed! Can’t say much about book 4 just yet…

Oliver and Jorge battle it out in a game of Poptropica soup words. Who wins?

Oliver would win because he’s a total bookworm. Jorge would probably look for swear words, which aren’t allowed.

For the rest of the awesome interview, check out this post on the Creators’ Blog celebrating the launch of the book! Congratulations to everyone involved with the book production! 🎉

Creator Skinny Moon, who conducted the interview, ends the post with this snazzy animated gif that she says “may or may not be video straight from Poptropica HQ.” If it is – it sure looks like the Creators get up to some dizzyingly fun antics! And given her earlier comment about Mitch’s gif-making prowess, it may even have come from the man of the hour himself!

kbs

Anyway, we’ll let you know here on the PHB what interesting information we uncover from the second book once we have a chance to get to it. Stay tuned! 😀

Graphic novel news: Lost Expedition, Mitch Krpata, and book 3!

The lost expeditionHey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and this set of news is not just some ordinary wheel or fancy pair of sneaker-related news for once. This will be interesting… as long as you’re a fan of the Poptropica graphic novel series.

Let’s start off about Book 2, The Lost Expedition, which will come out for the world August 16th. After over a year of not hearing from them, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge are back for a brand new adventure in the world of Poptropica.

The novel will be written by Mitch Krpata (I’ll get more into him later) and illustrated yet again by Kory Merrit. If you need a reminder, the summary is as follows, according to the Barnes and Noble page:

In book two,The Lost Expedition, Oliver, Mya, and Jorge continue their search for home, with a few hilarious stops along the way.

So with that up ahead, of course it’s going to get some minor coverage. This news article by the MetroWest Daily News may seem like an ordinary news article showing off the graphic novel, but if you look into it deeper, you’ll find not just the standard summary. The news article confirms that the Poptropica graphic novel series is on a four-book deal. It also says that Mystery of the Map will the only one of the four that’s written by a different person (Galactic Hot Dogs author Max Brailler) and Mitch Krpata will write out the rest of the series.

There are also some interesting quotes said by the man himself in the article. He describes The Lost Expedition as a novel that would teach about “accepting the responsibility” of a leadership role, as well as mixing in the more action packed parts of the books. He had been with Poptropica since its beginnings in 2007, calling the franchise his “life’s work” and he desires it to “survive and outlast [him]”. Check out the article here if you’d like to read about his inspirations and other information.

However, strangely enough, the news article itself isn’t the biggest plot twist of this post. It’s the video that should be drawn attention to as well. It’s only 28 seconds long, but it’s not entirely about the content- it’s about what you hear. (Although at the end of the video, it does show a preview of one of the pages.) You can find it on the news article, so take a good listen to how Mitch sounds.

Sound familiar? Well, if you don’t hear it, Mitch here sounds quite a lot like our favorite blogging and YouTubing pirate, Captain Crawfish! For reference, here’s one of his videos.

Captain Crawfish’s identity had been a major secret for years, and now that the identity has practically been revealed to us, we have yet another mystery off our backs. All those years of crawfish-nomming jokes have been worth it. (And thank you so much for shouting out to me on the Reign of Omegon walkthrough!)

Now, let’s get into the future here, because, everyone, I found the title, cover, release date, and summary of the third Poptropica graphic novel.

*Warning: There might be potential Book 2 spoilers ahead, especially in the summary, so tread carefully.*
