Mystery Train Island, Sneak Peeks

Clues? Sounds like fun

How’s everyone doing? Sizzling in the Summer sun? Poptropica+Summer= recipe for awesome. Well, at least that’s for me. Yep, living the life in the dog days.

Enough about Summer now. We got two new updates from the PCB that I need to get covered. First up is a new Mystery Train clue:

Gasp! It’s…it’s really him…it’s Brad Pitt :D! Oh, wait, nevermind. It’s just Mark Twain, the classic American author.

This image and new post shows a lot about the upcoming island. We now know there will be intterogations on this wild island. To s0lve crimes you’ll need to examine clues. To catch a criminal, you’ll need to think like one!

If you examine the image closely you’ll see a section marked “Clues” with pictures. There are two in total: Mark Twain apparently is a clue and what appears to be a square device and apparatus with a tube sticking out of it is another clue. Strange. Guess we’ll have to wait to find out more!

In the meantime, anyone can currently play the Mystery Train mini game “D.C. Diner”! This post of tips and tricks was featured on the PCB a day or so ago. Still stuck on the D.C. Diner game? Fear not, the creators have new tips and tricks to ease your problems in this Diner Dash related game!

Things sure get hectic in the D.C. Diner. Here are a few tips to keep your restaurant in ship-shape.

Keep moving.

Don’t just stand there waiting for your cook to fill an order. Head back to the table and see if another customer has a new order. Every second you’re standing still is a second wasted.

Stand in the right spot.

You can fill up drinks and bus dishes withough having to stand next to the soda fountains or the dish bin. But you do need to stand right in front of the chef in order to place a dinner order. Try filling up drinks from across the screen, or bussing dishes while you place multiple orders with the cook.

Choose your upgrades carefully.

The hostess is a big help, but you probably don’t need her in the earlier stages, when only a few customers at a time can fit at the table. But fast drinks — that’ll shave seconds off your time from the start.

Take calculated risks.

Every customer will always order a drink first. Then they will order either the chicken or the burger. Knowing this, you can take some calculated risks. Keep an extra soda and root beer on your tray. Get the chef cooking a burger and a chicken before anybody has ordered their dinner. You might end up needing to dump something in the trash, but when these risks pay off, you’ll save lots of time.

Hopefully some of these tips will help. What tricks have you found to keep the D.C. Diner running smoothly?

This new game is fun, hectic, crazy, out of control…overall just AWEZOME. Some parts of it may be difficult and may stand as an impediment or obstacle in your game. The creators have summed up some sweet tricks to help you out. These include: keep moving around your enviroment to deliver food quickly and not waste time, standing in the right position and away from the soda fountain to quickly fill up bus dishes or drinks, choose upgrades carefully and to know what time to make certain upgrades such as how the creators stated you won’t need a hostess until later on, and lastly make calculated risks.

Don’t always assume a customer is going to order the same thing. It might mean working in advance and making the chef cook two types of burgers earlier so that you can deliver the customer’s food quickly and efficiently.

You snooze, you lose. Have fun! (D.C. Diner)

As you might have heard or seen, the new mini-game for Mystery Train Island, D.C. Diner, is out! As many PHB commenters correctly predicted, it is similar to the game Diner Dash!

D.C. Diner

To play D.C. Diner, visit the travel map and click on the starburst next to the Mystery Train logo. Or, if you log in, you can click the D.C. Diner slide in the rotating feature box to go there instantly! (Poptropica Creators’ Blog)

D.C. Diner: gameplay & prizes!

The visitors of the diner want a quick bite to eat before hopping on the train to Chicago. You act as the waiter/waitress and serve food and drink to them before they leave.First you have to seat them, then wait as they order.

To fill drinks, click on the machines for soda, root beer, and coffee. For food, visit the chef and pick from chicken, burger, or dessert based on what the customers ordered. When customers are done, pick up their plates and wash them. Throw unused orders in the trash bin.

There are more shifts and it gets harder each shift, like for example, a timer. When people leave, they add 20-30 seconds to the timer, depending on the shift number. Upgrades are also available each shift!

  • Hostess (non-members and members): Seats the guests each time a seat is available
  • Fast Drinks (non-members and members): Makes pouring the drinks faster
  • Larger Tray (members): Easier to carry more orders
  • Busboy (members): Makes washing dishes instant.
  • Faster cook (members): Makes orders faster.

After 3 shifts, non-members won’t be able to go on, but can still play the minigame. Members can go on up until five shifts. There are also prizes to be had in this all-new minigame, which I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for!

There are VIPs that come into your diner that you have to serve, but you don’t know it yet. Whenever they leave, you get an item, and at the end of each shift, you find out who they are. Five prizes are to be had in this game!

dc lightbulb

Edison Light Bulb (non-members and members): When Thomas Edison comes into your diner, you get this handheld item that lights up when you press spacebar!

dc haircut

Mark Twain Haircut (non-members and members): When Mark Twain comes into your diner, he leaves you with his snazzy haircut that you can wear! Mustache not included. 😦

dc magician's hat

Magician’s Hat (non-members and members): When Harry Houdini comes into your diner, he leaves with you his magic hat! This magic hat, when you wear it and press spacebar, bubbles appear and a cute rabbit pops up! 🙂 Sometimes flowers pop up too, but it’s not as cute as the rabbit. 😛

dc eiffelhat

Eiffel Tower Hat (members): When Gustav Eiffel stops by your diner, he gives you an Eiffel Tower hat, a hat that will surely make you a fashion “attraction”! 😀 Get it? Oh never mind.

dc tesla coil

Tesla Coil (members): In my opinion, this is the best prize :P. When Nikola Tesla stops by, he leaves you with this handheld Tesla Coil. When you wear it and press spacebar, it electrifies you in little lightning bolts and emits a flash of light! 😀

I’m still unsure as to whether all of the prizes are available for all. The first three prizes are available for non-members.If you have any tips for the game,  just leave a comment! Credit to Striped Grape for all the item cards! (You’ve been credited a lot now, huh? 😀 )

Flags & friends

In other news, Plague and other PHB readers have found out about country flags and friend buttons in Poptropica common and Multiverse rooms! Seems like now we can add friends on Poptropica! 🙂

EDIT: PHC people have noticed that the flags and friend button started working last night, but got removed. But stay tuned! It might come back! 😀

The only problems is that the flag is always USA, as Rory has noticed. Even though he lives in Europe, the flag on his character still says he is in the USA. Another problem for now is that the friend button doesn’t work yet. But stay tuned for more info about the friend button and country flags! 😀

Adventure Time ad: Jake follower

Also, thanks to Mstorm/Mbones/Madrigal, we have info on the newest ad to make its way into Poptropica: the Adventure Time video ad! all you have to do is watch the video and get a Jake follower at the end! So far, it’s available on Early Poptropica. Try finding more islands it’s on!

Costume closets?

One last thing: Have you checked out the latest Daily Pop sneak peek? It hints about costume closets! Do you think it will be an addition to the Poptropica world? Would this be a great addition? Leave your opinion in the comments! as for me, I’m out. Peace! 😀 Phew long post 😛

Astro-Knights Island, Store

Still stuck on Astro Knights?

I’m sure most of you already finished Astro Knights Island, but for the people who haven’t yet, Poptropica made a step-by-step walkthrough with video guides and all you need to complete one of the most challenging islands ever made on Poptropica! Of course, you can always use our PHB Island Help resources! 😀 Here’s how to get it and how it works (thanks to Striped Grape for the pics) :

Go to Astro Knights Island and walk until you see this stand:

Simply click on the card to get it! The best par: it’s free! *throws confetti into the air* 😀 The card appears in your Astro Knights inventory. Click “USE” and this menu should pop up:

Main Menu: This is the main page that pops up. It shows the most popular help topics that people need help on in Astro Knights.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough: This page shows the steps needed to complete Astro Knights! It tells you how to get items, where and when you get to use them, how to solve the tile puzzle, and how to defeat bosses like the Dragotank and Binary Bard. Each step is accompanied by a video guide with a play, pause, and repeat button so you can watch all the action! 😀

Help Topics by Category: The name should explain it all, shouldn’t it? 😀  The help topics are categorized by Key Items, Quest Objectives, and Boss Battles.

Hope you guys find the Poptropica guide and our PHB guides helpful! 🙂

One last note: I might not be able to post much because high school starts for me soon too, so if the authors could save Friday’s posts for me, that would be great! Kthxbai 😀

Mystery Train Island, Sneak Peeks

Got time for a bite?

Ello, everyone! The latest news on the PCB is out! Guess what? That new minigame that I predicted to be the Mystery Train pre-release minigame has been announced!

It’s called D.C. Diner! The creators have promised us that it’s going to basically be a ludicrous, crazy, unfettered, uncontrolled, untamed, wild…and um, ok, you get the point. I know xD. So yeah, they promise it’s going to be one heck of a wild game, in which you have to serve VIP’s on board the train.

So my guess is it’s one of those mad dash games. You have to take their orders and get them their foods fast or they’ll apparently be “unhappy” and I guess leave the restaraunt. So keep watch on the PCB till it comes!

EP out!

Mystery Train Island, Sneak Peeks

A new minigame for Mystery Train?

It’s EP here with another new post. This one is actually a sneak peek, quite exciting! The creators have began to get us pumped up about the new islands coming. In the last post, there was a new trailer about a “legend coming,” possibly to do with Mystery Train Island. I’d say I’m pretty warmed up about this.

New minigame? I bet it has something to do with quickly taking the customers’ orders. Will this be a pre-island game like Shrink Shot? Or will it be a minigame actually in the island?

I’m thinking it will be a pre-release game, because if you look closely and examine the picture, you’ll actually see a gold sign that says “Mystery Train Island, coming soon” which just proves it will be one of those minigames like Shrink Shot released before the island is actually out.

EP out!
