Ramble Review: Mocktropica Island

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Silver ShellEnjoy!

Now, I love Mocktropica Island because of how real it is. You don’t battle pirates or ninjas on this island, but you battle something just as challenging: Games breaking down. Chaos. Frustrating management that doesn’t listen to anyone. There’s a lot of frustration and confusion in the plot of this island. There are plenty of glitches, but the creators seem to only care about new things, like the dreadful Pop Coins.

Sounding familiar yet? Unfortunately, modern Pop has started to immensely resemble Mocktropica these days. There’s plenty of talk about that already, though, so let’s move on from that.

I think the island is really fun! You get to design Main Street from a little basement, change the weather and time of day, and, of course, it’s the home of the Narf. My favorite part of this island was trying to convince the former creators to get back to their jobs. All three of them had moved on and needed lots of persuasion before they would return. However, once you get the whole team back together, a lot is fixed! The player gets to actually fix the game itself! How cool is that?!

I’m the Mancala Master.

The twist? First-rate. The fact that management had been planning to destroy Poptropica all along to move Mega Fighting Bots up to the top of the list was, I have to say, quite genius. The clues were everywhere, but I never made the connection! I had assumed those people were just cheap and loony. In my opinion, that twist was the best one in Poptropica.

I kicked their bots.

I actually needed Thinknoodles’s walkthrough for the end part with the flying bots, but I had a lot of fun with it, especially considering the fact that you threw Pop Coins at them. Revenge on the Pop Coins. 😜

And that’s that! Thanks for reading again!

Clubhouse Tour: Silver Shell 🏡

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Silver ShellEnjoy!

Hello, Poptropicans! It’s Silver Shell, and today I’m showing you my own Clubhouse Tour!

…Yikes! How are you here so early? Oof, I need an alarm clock…

Holy Hare, I’m still in my pajamas! Give me a second so I can try to look presentable.

Ah, there we go! Now I can get on with my day. Now, what to do next? Well, I’ll show you my bedroom.

Here’s my room, Poptropicans! Pretty full, I know, but I like it. I change out the decorations based on the time of year. Now why don’t you keep looking over there for a second while I, um, do stuff.

Hey! I thought I told you to stay over there! …No, I wasn’t reading to my unicorn. You misunderstood the situation. Moving on…

Here’s the kitchen, guys! Help yourselves to the fridge while I make myself something to eat. I’ve got just about everything, but I’m still waiting on the pizza I ordered.

Here’s the ultimate gamer zone!! Well, it will look more ultimate once I get a membership and get all that cool high-tech stuff, but this’ll do. Right now my favorite game is something called Legendary Swords. You should try it!

Yes… Yes… YES! I won! Whew, that was tough. Anyway, I — what is that glowing thing?

What on Planet Poptropica is that??!! That’s right out of my video game! Hide! …Wait, that’s weird. It has regular arms and legs. That’s not a robot!

Ohh… she’s a fellow gamer! Hey there! Nice costume, by the way. Sure fooled me. Want to play Legendary Swords?

Click, click, click… Come on… Yes! Won again! Nice playing with you, but I have a clubhouse tour to lead.

Anyway, here’s my pet area, living room, and schoolwork section. It’s a nice place to hang out, if you ask me. Speaking of pet areas, where’s my puppy?

There you are, Lav! This is Lavender, a rare species of Labrador Retriever that has light purple fur. She loves summer, swimming, getting petted, and wearing hats.

Moving on, past the front door, we have… Oh hey! My pizza’s here! Hmm, I’m not sure I meant “as big as I am” when I said “extra large,” but hey, I’m not complaining.

You know what? I’m in the mood for some exercise. I’ll save the pizza for later…

….eleven, twelve, thirteen… Oof! Nice work, Silver Shell! Florian “Flashy” Fosbury would be jealous.

I also love basketball! I’ll get some practice while we’re here. Slam dunk!

Wow, all this exercise is certainly making me hungry. PIZZA TIME!

Hm, doesn’t quite fit in my fridge… oh well, this’ll have to do for now. I wonder how much this thing costs, being bigger than me… *looks at receipt* OH MY POP! Oh man, next time I’ll order the medium size. Anyway, have a slice or something.

Oh, I have one more thing to show you. You’re gonna love this.

Behold, the legendary Museum of Silver Shell! Similar to the Baron’s Airship, this is a room full of tokens and souvenirs from almost every island, and I’m still adding to it! However, this stuff is not for sale. If you see anything that you’re not sure which island it represents, be sure to ask in the comments, and give me suggestions of what other islands I should represent!

That’s that, folks. Hope you enjoyed my Clubhouse Tour!! Feel free to pop by anytime to help me finish up my pizza. My username is Seraphim22. Don’t expect my clubhouse to stay the same though; it’s ever-changing, like all things!

Have a Poptastic day, and happy Grapple-Pap!

Poptropica Fanfic: What Really Happened to Balloon Boy 🎈

This is a guest post by Silver Shell. Enjoy!

Howdy, Poptropicans! Today’s topic is all about Balloon Boy, and how he became a floating Pop icon. Let’s get right into it!

Back in Poptropica’s earlier days, there was a teenage player. His screen name was Green Flyer. He happened to be a glitcher, and decided to see what happened if he took the balloon from Bobo’s Clown Store up and over to the aircraft graveyard of Early Poptropica Island to see what the purple giant’s face looked like, since all anyone knew was his feet.

So Green Flyer took a balloon — a nice green one — and got it from Counterfeit Island to Early Poptropica. He jumped as high as he could, going much higher than the game intended players to go. Now, this glitch had never been tried before, so as anyone can imagine, there were going to be problems. The creators had programmed it to only show the giant’s feet, and this was defying their programming. The glitcher was trying to do something that couldn’t be glitched.

Unsurprisingly, the “clever” glitch failed. Green Flyer’s screen froze and wouldn’t come back on. He informed the creators about it, but there wasn’t much that could be done. The glitch, thought to be helpful, turned out to be a huge bug.

All the creators could do to make sure that Green Flyer would be able to play Poptropica again would be to delete his account. Not having much of a choice, he agreed and had to start from scratch.

Later on, the creators began to think, “Hey, that was a pretty interesting situation there. What a great chance to make a new Pop icon!!” So the creators built Green Flyer’s character into Counterfeit (which at the time was not yet out to everyone) along with a mother character. In the quest, they had the player help him by giving him a green balloon, which he’d take and fly away with. This character also never came down (yet!), just like how in real life, the bug couldn’t be fixed and the teenager couldn’t get his avatar back online.

The Pop community found this NPC cool as well, and used him often when trying to represent Pop. As hoped, he became an important and popular symbol of the game, competing with Dr Hare. However, after a while, people forgot about the name Green Flyer and started referring to him as Balloon Boy.

And that, my Pop friends, is one story of how our beloved Balloon Boy came to be. Thanks for reading as always!

Pop-TROPE-ica: Inter-Island Connections 🏝

This is a guest post by Silver Shell. Enjoy!

Scope It Out: Keep watching the skies.

Hello again, Poptropicans! It’s Silver Shell, back again for another Pop-TROPE-ica post. Similar to my last one about time travel, this post is about how Poptropica rarely sends us to the same place twice.

I can’t even make a list for this one. Every single Poptropica island has its own unique setting (unless you count remakes such as the new Mythology Island or episodic islands, like Survival, or the time you go to Early Poptropica to complete the quest from Counterfeit).

Although each island always seems to be set in different places, there are times when we find Easter Eggs on an island that reminds us of another place on the map. For example, in the Baron’s Crusade mini-quest, we see the cove from the Pirate Outpost on Skullduggery Island.

Islands also contain references to items or brands from other islands. There are quite a few on PoptropiCon, such as the back of a sign for Queequeg’s Coffeehouse which first appeared in Back Lot Island, or the guy eating pizza puffs outside Pepe’s stand, who’s wearing the goblin hat from Twisted Thicket

However, there are some mysteries about whether or not certain islands take place in the same setting. For example, both Skullduggery and Shark Tooth have a part where you sail or swim through the ocean, but on the Poptropica map, there is only one large ocean containing all the islands (Pop-cific Ocean? Atlant-ica Ocean?). Do those quests take place in the same ocean, and by extension, the same area?

There’s a similar question with Astro-Knights and Lunar Colony. When you’re in your spaceship on Astro-Knights, you can bring up a whole map of Poptropica’s solar system. It appears Planet Poptropica has only one moon, and it is inhabited by hospitable aliens all around.

Yet, on Lunar Colony, we seem to cross the entire moon, or at least one half of it, and there is hardly a bit of proof of alien occupancy. (Sure, Salerno discovers an alien world in the end, but we never see it.) What we do see are what appear to be ancient alien artifacts, left behind a long time ago. Are we still on the same moon?

Maybe we went to a moon of one of the other planets, like the Fire Planet? Or did one of the two islands take place in a completely different solar system?

Whatever the case, I think it’s still safe to say that, regardless of how confusing some of Poptropica’s inter-island logic may be, Poptropica takes place in all sorts of different places, all across the world, and never seems to repeat itself. So thanks for reading! Comment below! 👇

Fanfic: The Princess and the Raven, part 6 🐺

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Shy Scorpion. Enjoy!

Hi Poptropicans! It’s Shy Scorpion here with the next part of my fanfic. If you missed part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, or part 5, be sure to check them out. Now let’s get to it!

Scene continued from previousRumpelstiltskin has just walked into Red’s Pizza Basket. The girls look at him angrily.

CINDER:

Man, how does he do that?!

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

Do what?

CINDER:

Enter a room at the perfect time.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

(shrugs) Just lucky, I guess.

AMELIA:

What are you doing here, Rumpelstiltskin?

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

Here to see you realize my perfect plan is laid into action.

CINDER:

Dude, first you took away our happy endings, then you crashed our ball a couple months ago, after that you sent that adventurer kid all over Poptropica looking for the king, and now you’re crashing our girls’ hangout. Have you NO shame?

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

Nope.

AMELIA:

How about telling us your perfect plan then?

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

I will let that remain a mystery. But let’s just say I would be VERY afraid of what’s coming.

AMELIA:

Well if you aren’t going to tell us your plan, then as an official adventurer and as the owner of Home Island, I now arrest you in the name of Poptropica.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

Really? How are you planning on doing that? Throwing pizza at me, tying me up with a rope?

AMELIA:

Nah, I can see the dwarves are coming back from their walk with Snow’s wolf Pepperoni. I remember you guys had a GREAT run-in last time.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

(visibly frightened) Did you say P-Pepperoni?

AMELIA:

Look, here they come now!

Dwarves enter the diner with Pepperoni. Upon seeing Rumpelstiltskin, the wolf lets out an excited bark and tackles him to the ground. Rumpelstiltskin flails under Pepperoni’s licks before throwing the wolf off of his body and getting up.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN:

(snarls) This isn’t over.

Rumpelstiltskin disappears in a poof of purple smoke. Everyone high-fives and pets a very proud Pepperoni.

LATER… after everyone is full of pizza, the Poptropicans go their separate ways. But Amelia pauses to talk to Snow White.

AMELIA:

Don’t worry about Rumpelstiltskin. Bad guys always come and go.

SNOW WHITE:

Yeah, I am just worried about what’s coming… while the queen might be our greatest hero, she could also be the worst villain Poptropica has ever seen.

Hope you enjoyed Part 6 of The Princess and the Raven. Tell me your ideas on it and your theories for who you think this “Queen” might REALLY be in the comments below. Bye! 👋
