Popspiracy: Familiar Faces of the 40 Thieves

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Popular Raptor. Enjoy!

We know Scheherazade as the leader of the Forty Thieves from Arabian Nights Island, and Brutus as her muscular sidekick. But who are they really — and their fellow thieves? That’s my question for this post!

Remember, the culprits are always people you know in life (that’s how it is for my life, yours?). That got me thinking. What if we know these thieves from elsewhere? And then it occurred to me: Brutus looks like a more muscular version of Hercules from Mythology Island! (Sorry Herc.)

There’s also the thief looking through the telescope later in the island. Maybe it’s just me, but he kind of reminds me of the Viking on Time Tangled Island, just with some hair shaved off.

I don’t know, sometimes appearances can be misleading. Maybe the Poptropica Creators have ideas for a new island where all the “good” characters we meet are actually the hidden villains of another island, and the “villains” are actually good.

Are there any good and bad characters that you think are similar to each other?

My Place in Poptropica: Blue Moon

This is a guest post from Blue Moon sharing her My Place in Poptropica story, which is all about one’s Poptropica journey. Enjoy!

Hey there fellow Poptropicans! This is Blue Moon, and this is my first post on the blog. Today it’s all about my tale in Poptropica. Enjoy!

I am kind of an amateur in Pop, and I only lived in the Haxe version. I never got to experience the Flash version—the old islands, everything… it’s only a dream to my friends and I, when it’s at least a memory to everyone else. This post is especially for all the new players—those who’ve heard of but never experienced Poptropica’s golden ages.

Spotlight: One time you may not want to be center stage.

2019: Finding Pop, then leaving

I was in grade three when I first encountered Poptropica, and it was during the Covid pandemic. My mom used to restrict me from screen-time except for academic reasons, and I was dying to get my hands on some free games. One day, when I was over at my friend Icy Fire’s house, she presented me with this free, wonderful game, called Poptropica.

Sadly, at the time I was too stupid to figure out the complicated and confusing islands all by myself. Added with a stir of frustration at the extraordinary members-only products, I left the game before I even finished an island. I didn’t know at the time that I was actually in the Flash version of the game, until, alas, it was too late. Oh well 😐

Up and Away: It helps to be full of hot air.

2022: Revisiting

It was during the lockdown in Shanghai, China, where I live, that I picked up interest in Pop again. One day, I decided to get in touch with my friend Icy Fire, who’d gone to boarding school. In no time, she was asking me about Pop. Not wanting to disappoint my lost-and-found friend, I quickly sat up an account on Pop, and then managed to start a pathetic discussion. At least I found an interest in Pop… which is still going.

With Poptropica’s current state, I completed every single island in a month’s time during the Shanghai lockdown. Of course, Icy Fire and I always stuck together on every single quest and challenge. To me, she was my light in Poptropica. For a short time, I left Pop because of pure boredom, and went off to play other games instead.

Puffed Up: The smoke gets in your eyes.

However, as I became more experienced in other games, I realized that none of them are actually as good as Poptropica. With a jolt, I returned to Pop in September, and made an internal vow never to leave it again. It was at that time that I finally realized that actually, Pop had already taken a place in my heart that no other game would replace, even though some players feel that the game has entered its “downfall.” Since September, I’ve been an active player once again.

I know that players enjoyed Poptropica when it was on Flash. But there are players now that never even got to play the old islands, and now their number is increasing. I’ve read the guides for the old islands time and time again, trying to absorb in the gameplay, but I still can’t really “be in” the quest. Please, Pop Creators, think about how it feels to new players who’ve never experienced the wonders of Poptropica’s past. I want to let them also have a chance to “be in” Poptropica’s golden ages. This is not only for me, it’s for every new player.

Long Thaw: Ice to see you.

To end on a happier note…

Fun (and sometimes embarrassing) facts about Blue Moon the Poptropican:

  1. My first finished island is Fairytale Island, and I got stuck in a plant while helping Red.
  2. I took one whole month and four separate restarts to break out of Pelican Rock.
  3. Even for now, I still can’t beat the “unbeatable” girl in PoptropiCon 2.
  4. My best friend on Pop is Super Star (username piziyu)
  5. My username is Aristah (friend me!)
Skylines: Keep running up that hill.

Still Poppin’ On~

Party Clubhouse Tour: Dizzy Feather 🍿

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Dizzy FeatherEnjoy!

Hello everyone, Dizzy Feather here, with a tour of my party clubhouse. (You can also check out my other clubhouse tours here and here for my castle room.) Let’s get started!

Now this clubhouse is designed as a movie theater and museum. Like many movie theaters, there are concessions, popcorn, soda, and six flavors of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint, fudge swirl, and bubblegum. I’ll just get a chocolate ice cream and a purple soda.

While we wait for the movie to start, we can sit by the fire over on the left — sorry there isn’t room for all of us. Not to worry though, the rest of use can wait in one of the two rooms on the second level.

Up on the left, we have a trampoline. You can jump on it, if you would like. However, you should probably wait till after the movie if you have already eaten your snacks. Anyway, over to the right, there’s a water cooler with two comfy cushions to sit on.

Oh, the movie is about to start. Don’t worry, I chose the Mighty Action Force movie. It’s rated PG and is entertaining.

*yawn* That was a good movie, don’t you agree?

Anyway, let’s start the tour of the museum. First up on the left is a wooden chest, salvaged from the library on Astro-Knights Island. Next to it is yet another chest from the Fairytale Island treasury. The last thing in this room is the ancient charcoal holder, donated by the Museum of Really Old Things on Goofball Island.

Over here, there are a few artifacts from various islands. The model fishes are from Mission Atlantis, the bags of candy are from Great Pumpkin, and the phoenix sculpture is from Back Lot.

Up here, there is a stuffed model of a camel, also donated by the Museum of Really Old Things. Then there’s a crystal skull resembling the one in the old Pathfinders common room, plus a wooden barrel mug salvaged from a shipwreck on Skullduggery.

But what about that thing over there, with a yellow balloon on it? Let’s see here, it says “Remembering Balloon Boy, may he safely return to the ground.” I think the balloon should be green, just saying.

Over here, we have some vintage toys, a tennis racket and ball, a stuffed toy vampire bat, a case full of figurines of villains, and a skateboard locked in place.

Finally, we have a golden statue from the Fairytale Island treasury, which used to be a statue of the king, but now, well… I imagine you can guess. We have a sandstone bust of a cat and a sarcophagus to hold a mummy, both also donated by the Museum of Really Old Things. Finally, there is a bust of Goofball Island’s founder, Emperor Thirsty Flame III.

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed the tour! I’ll be back again soon!

Fanfic: The Witch’s Heart, Part 6/6 🧙‍♀️

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by HeartOfEnder. Enjoy!

Wow, can you believe we’re finally at the last part of The Witch’s Heart? I want to thank everyone who tuned in to this crazy journey with me. Catch up on Part 5 here if you haven’t already!

Without further ado, let’s enjoy the finale…

Crystal Caves: Untold riches await, for those who dare.

(Missed the earlier parts of the story? Find Part 1 here!)

ALOUETTE is standing on a large field, facing a large group of white dragons who are all awaiting commands from their leader. The WHITE DRAGON is at the very front, looking at the young witch.

ALOUETTE

I think he belongs to you.

ALOUETTE opens her bag and takes out PEARL, who has claimed the bag as his ‘nest’. She hands PEARL to the WHITE DRAGON, before taking a step back.

ALOUETTE

Goodbye Pearl. You have a family to go back to. You’ll be safe with them. Goodbye dragons. Have a safe trip back home.

ALOUETTE turns around to leave, but the WHITE DRAGON stops her.

The WHITE DRAGON glances at PEARL, who seems a little sad. They turn to face the other dragons, before handing PEARL back to ALOUETTE.

ALOUETTE

You’re leaving Pearl with me?

The WHITE DRAGON nods, before roaring at the sky and taking off, the other dragons following closely behind. ALOUETTE and PEARL watch them leave for their home. PEARL waves goodbye to the dragons, until they disappear into the clouds. ALOUETTE then starts heading back home after a long day. Fairytale Island had just been saved again, after all. Hopefully Rumpel wouldn’t come back for a while.

When she arrives home, she is surprised to find her mother talking with someone else. Someone she saw before when Rumpel stole the happy endings. Although she couldn’t remember their name…

SABRINA

Welcome home, dear. Say, have you met Amelia yet?

ALOUETTE

Amelia?

The guest, AMELIA, stands up. In her hand is a letter.

AMELIA

It’s nice to meet you, Alouette. Your mom told me about your previous two adventures on Fairytale Island. You can never trust a man with magic powers. Never.

ALOUETTE

*annoyed* Especially if he escapes twice.

AMELIA looks at ALOUETTE before handing her the letter.

AMELIA

We’ll never know when Rumpel will strike the island again. This letter is my gift to you, to prepare you for when he comes back.

ALOUETTE reads the letter:

To: Alouette Rees (Fearless Dragon)

You have been invited to join Camp Bravery, a summer camp for curious adventurers to sharpen their skills and answer the call of help when needed.

You have answered the call of help from Fairytale island not just once, but twice. Rumpelstiltskin may have escaped you both times, but you already show potential in defeating him once and for all. You helped Red, Snow white, and Cinder find new happy endings, and rescued the white dragons from Rumpel. You showed us that your heart is pure and full of kindness you’re willing to lend to others.

The new camp year will start on July 2, please let us know if you will accept this invite before June 20. We will be awaiting your response.

Amelia Earhart & Red Baroness, Camp Founders

AMELIA

I believe that if you join Camp Bravery, you will be able to perfect your abilities enough to take down Rumpel when he strikes again. I do hope you like the alias I gave you. It was fitting considering what you did to save the dragons. The choice is yours, Alouette.

ALOUETTE turns to face her mother, who smiles and gives a nod of approval. PEARL also nods, chewing ALOUETTE’s hair out of boredom.

ALOUETTE

I’ll accept the invite. I want to be able to protect my home island like my mom did years ago. I want to become powerful enough to defeat Rumpel.

AMELIA smiles, taking a sip of tea.

AMELIA

I am happy to hear that. Also, what kind of tea is this? I like it.

SABRINA

It’s dragon leaf tea.

We skip ahead to June 28. ALOUETTE is standing on the docks of Fairytale Island with PEARL on her shoulder, excited to go on a new adventure. She watches the ferry crew load her luggage onto the boat.

SABRINA approaches her daughter with a leather bag.

SABRINA

Give this to Amelia when you reach the camp, okay? It’s dragon leaf tea, so be careful with it. Okay?

ALOUETTE takes the bag from her mother.

ALOUETTE

Of course I will. Amelia’s going to love your gift so much. I can already see her face of happiness.

The CAPTAIN of the ferry grabs a megaphone to make an announcement.

CAPTAIN

Attention passengers boarding the ferry to Camp Bravery! We will be leaving soon, so please start boarding the boat.

SABRINA takes a look at her daughter one last time.

SABRINA

You have fun, my dear witchlet. Make new friends, learn new spells. Go make me proud, dear. And remember to write, too.

ALOUETTE nods, waving goodbye to her mother before turning away to board the boat. PEARL waves goodbye to SABRINA as they head into their new journey. There would be new friends, new opportunities, and most importantly, new lessons and skills awaiting the young witch.

And in three years’ time, a calamity to answer. But that’s another story…

Cause a Row: Hope may float, but sometimes dreams need to sink.

And with that, The Witch’s Heart is complete. But that does not mean Alouette’s story is over.

If you want to continue following her journey, then check out Storm’s Calamity, my other fanfiction on Tumblr and Quotev, where things are crazier than what Rumpel has managed to cause so far.

And keep an eye out on the PHB as well, since I have plans to write another short fanfiction series exploring the origins of another character from Storm’s Calamity.

Thanks for reading The Witch’s Heart! I will see you later.

Heart out!
