You snooze, you lose. Have fun! (D.C. Diner)

As you might have heard or seen, the new mini-game for Mystery Train Island, D.C. Diner, is out! As many PHB commenters correctly predicted, it is similar to the game Diner Dash!

D.C. Diner

To play D.C. Diner, visit the travel map and click on the starburst next to the Mystery Train logo. Or, if you log in, you can click the D.C. Diner slide in the rotating feature box to go there instantly! (Poptropica Creators’ Blog)

D.C. Diner: gameplay & prizes!

The visitors of the diner want a quick bite to eat before hopping on the train to Chicago. You act as the waiter/waitress and serve food and drink to them before they leave.First you have to seat them, then wait as they order.

To fill drinks, click on the machines for soda, root beer, and coffee. For food, visit the chef and pick from chicken, burger, or dessert based on what the customers ordered. When customers are done, pick up their plates and wash them. Throw unused orders in the trash bin.

There are more shifts and it gets harder each shift, like for example, a timer. When people leave, they add 20-30 seconds to the timer, depending on the shift number. Upgrades are also available each shift!

  • Hostess (non-members and members): Seats the guests each time a seat is available
  • Fast Drinks (non-members and members): Makes pouring the drinks faster
  • Larger Tray (members): Easier to carry more orders
  • Busboy (members): Makes washing dishes instant.
  • Faster cook (members): Makes orders faster.

After 3 shifts, non-members won’t be able to go on, but can still play the minigame. Members can go on up until five shifts. There are also prizes to be had in this all-new minigame, which I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for!

There are VIPs that come into your diner that you have to serve, but you don’t know it yet. Whenever they leave, you get an item, and at the end of each shift, you find out who they are. Five prizes are to be had in this game!

dc lightbulb

Edison Light Bulb (non-members and members): When Thomas Edison comes into your diner, you get this handheld item that lights up when you press spacebar!

dc haircut

Mark Twain Haircut (non-members and members): When Mark Twain comes into your diner, he leaves you with his snazzy haircut that you can wear! Mustache not included. 😦

dc magician's hat

Magician’s Hat (non-members and members): When Harry Houdini comes into your diner, he leaves with you his magic hat! This magic hat, when you wear it and press spacebar, bubbles appear and a cute rabbit pops up! 🙂 Sometimes flowers pop up too, but it’s not as cute as the rabbit. 😛

dc eiffelhat

Eiffel Tower Hat (members): When Gustav Eiffel stops by your diner, he gives you an Eiffel Tower hat, a hat that will surely make you a fashion “attraction”! 😀 Get it? Oh never mind.

dc tesla coil

Tesla Coil (members): In my opinion, this is the best prize :P. When Nikola Tesla stops by, he leaves you with this handheld Tesla Coil. When you wear it and press spacebar, it electrifies you in little lightning bolts and emits a flash of light! 😀

I’m still unsure as to whether all of the prizes are available for all. The first three prizes are available for non-members.If you have any tips for the game,  just leave a comment! Credit to Striped Grape for all the item cards! (You’ve been credited a lot now, huh? 😀 )

Flags & friends

In other news, Plague and other PHB readers have found out about country flags and friend buttons in Poptropica common and Multiverse rooms! Seems like now we can add friends on Poptropica! 🙂

EDIT: PHC people have noticed that the flags and friend button started working last night, but got removed. But stay tuned! It might come back! 😀

The only problems is that the flag is always USA, as Rory has noticed. Even though he lives in Europe, the flag on his character still says he is in the USA. Another problem for now is that the friend button doesn’t work yet. But stay tuned for more info about the friend button and country flags! 😀

Adventure Time ad: Jake follower

Also, thanks to Mstorm/Mbones/Madrigal, we have info on the newest ad to make its way into Poptropica: the Adventure Time video ad! all you have to do is watch the video and get a Jake follower at the end! So far, it’s available on Early Poptropica. Try finding more islands it’s on!

Costume closets?

One last thing: Have you checked out the latest Daily Pop sneak peek? It hints about costume closets! Do you think it will be an addition to the Poptropica world? Would this be a great addition? Leave your opinion in the comments! as for me, I’m out. Peace! 😀 Phew long post 😛

The Official Guide to Poptropica!

It’s EP here for a new post. How’s everyone doing? Cruising? Enjoying the summer? That’s nice! I’m almost too lazy today to get out of my video game lounge playing meh xbox to type up a new post :P. But here it goes, the creators have announced the official guide to Poptropica.

Merchandising for the game was hinted some time ago, around a year, in a post on this blog about future products like backpacks and books. I don’t remember who posted it or how they got to it, but I remember the clue was inside a post about a news article on the web interviewing someone that worked on Poptropica. Well, now it’s finally here! Check it out:

Announcing the Poptropica guidebook!

It’s true: Poptropica: The Official Guideis coming! This full-color guidebook contains walkthroughs for most Poptropica Islands, behind-the-scenes looks at how an Island is made, and quotes from the Poptropica Creators. Poptropica: The Official Guide will be released on October 13. For a special sneak preview, visit the Poptropica guidebook page on Amazon.com for a special preview: an interview with Jeff Kinney, Poptropica creator and Diary of a Wimpy Kid author!

October 13th??? Whatttttt? Are they not done editing it or publishing it or something? We’ll have to wait months before we can get an actual copy of this book. I can’t wait to find out what’s inside. I don’t know if they’d include island guides, but maybe only tips and info on the islands. A guide might spoil the fun and surprise perhaps.

On the cover of the book is a Poptropican swinging on a rope…don’t fall. I just felt like saying that ;). The cover also shows various Poptropica characters and a location situated on Mythology Island. You can get read an exclusive interview with Jeff Kinney on the amazon webpage. Cannot wait to obtain my own copy of this book now :). What do you think? Will you buy it? Comment below.

20 rarest items: The Finale

This is it, people! It’s the grand finale for the 20 rarest items of Poptropica history (so far at least)! We’re down to the top 5 rarest items of all time now. Here’s a new creators post detailing the big 5:

The 20 rarest items in Poptropica, part 5

This is it. To celebrate the launch of our 20th Island, Shrink Ray Island, today we conclude our list of the 20 rarest items in Poptropica history.

4. Hypnotic

This dazzling costume was available for a short time by clicking on an otherwise unremarkable window in Early Poptropica.

3. Cryptids Nessie Hat

One of the hardest items to acquire in Poptropica’s history was the Nessie Hat during the sneak preview of Cryptids Island. Players could look through a viewfinder on the shores of Loch Ness, and those who spotted Nessie won this item!

2. Wunder Bubble Tonic

Unlike the Loch Ness viewfinder, roping cattle in the Wild West sneak preview wasn’t about luck. But it was incredibly difficult, and not many Poptropicans were able to wrangle all of the prizes from that game, including the final prize, Wunder Bubble Tonic.

1. 3rd Birthday Hat

To win the 3rd birthday hat, a Poptropican had to be incredibly lucky. First of all, you had to be in a common room during our 3rd birthday celebration last September. Next, you needed to see a special balloon appear, which most Poptropicans never did. And finally, you had to click on the balloon before you left the room! Those who made it were rewarded with the 3rd birthday hat, the rarest item in the history of Poptropica.

If you missed any of these rare items over the past 20 Poptropica Islands, never fear: there will be a lot more costumes and powers to come from the next 20 Islands — and beyond!

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

For number 5 is that weird looking hypnotic costume from a hunt on Early Poptropica. An image revealed clicking on a window for the hunt, posted in the creators blog. They gave us picture clues. Clicking on the right window gave you a special costume! Too bad I didn’t get it, thought it was weird :/.
Next up is the Nessie hat! Remember that loch ness sneak peek we had before Cryptids Island offically launched? That’s right, some seconds on the view finder to find nessie. Members got more time, though. But the PHB did it again! They found a way to get more time, just log out and log back in again! Many people probably used this effecient method. Some might’ve seen all sorts of stuff like a flying balloon, a dog, Skullduggery Island ships (captain c’s ship was there…hmmmm, yummm…lobster :D), but if you were really lucky, the chance of probability shined upon you and you would see…Nessie! That unlocks this special hat (wonder if coderkid or codien could hack into that to put it on MAP or something, modify a poptropican 😉 ).
The wonder bubble tonic was the final and most difficult prize to recieve. One had to wrangle all the cows/herd them in order to recieve it. When you drink it you immediately turn blue, and blue bubbles escape from your mouth. Finally, remember Poptropica’s 3rd Birthday? Ahhh, 3 years of fun, fun, and more fun. The servers were swarmed with players trying to find special balloons in Multiplayer Rooms. Upon clicking on the balloon got you the rarest prize of all, 3rd bday hat! Of youcrse, I bet it would’ve taken hours and hours of finding to actually spot the balloon.
So that’s the conclusion! The 20 rarest items have come to a stop, people!

The 20 rarest items continued

My first official post back!! Yay!!! 🙂 Lol anyways, the Creators continue their 20 rarest items list with # 12,11,10, and 9! Check it out below!

The 20 rarest items in Poptropica, part 3

We’re continuing our countdown of the 20 rarest Poptropica items.

12. Mech Pilot

For a limited time, Poptropica Members were given this Mech Pilot costume. Anyone can freely costume similar costume parts on Poptropica, but this specific costume is a rare one indeed.

11. Skullduggery Pirate

The Skullduggery Pirate was part of a special two-pack given to Members shortly before the debut of Skullduggery Island. Be on the lookout for two more Skullduggery-themed costumes, Captain Crimson and Captain Cobalt, when you get the Skullduggery Island 3″ figures. Speaking of Skullduggery Island…

10. Skullduggery Medallion

Another challenging Island, Skullduggery has seen fewer completions than most of the other Poptropica adventures. It’s not too hard, though — just keep working your way clockwise from one trading post to the next, and in no time you’ll have enough doubloons to buy the Phoenix Warbird!

9. Paper Kid

To celebrate the release of our Diary of a Wimpy Kid-themed Island, Wimpy Wonderland, all Poptropica Members got the “Paper Kid” costume. Unlike most costume cards, this one doubled as a special power. You can paperize anyone else you see, too!

To be continued tomorrow!

Also, while looking at this post, I saw something cool! On the sidebar, they featured The Official Guide (Poptropica)!! Looks like it’s going to be the new thing they are selling. The Official Guide (Poptropica) is a book that is going to be sold for $8.90 on Amazon! The Product description says:
