Hey Everyone, Fierce Flyer here! I'm a 16-year-old teen who used to live in the Sunshine State (Florida, USA). I enjoy drawing, writing, sports, reading and of course, blogging! You may know me from my Poptropica blog; Fierce Flyer Adventures, you may also add me on Poptropica using: muuuuuuuuuuu4 (I know, it's a lot of u's). As always, Fly Fierce and I'll see you next time, Fierce Flyer out!
How’s it going, Poptropicans? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a departure within the Poptropica community.
In early August, Jonathan Pitcher, a longtime Pop Creator who has left his stamp on the game, shared on X/Twitter that his time with Poptropica had come to a close. Considering Jon’s frequent appreciation for Poptropica and the fact he’s currently seeking work elsewhere, this sudden exit appears to be yet another layoff.
After almost 15 years working for Poptropica, it's sadly time to look for a new role. It's hard for me to part ways with Poptropica but that chapter has come to a close. Below is my demo reel with Disney, Pop and Suit Up Games. It's been a pleasure. https://t.co/It2c2PDYmgpic.twitter.com/eW4Y46j6cT

Jon Pitcher has worked at Poptropica for well over a decade. His duties included leading the charge in branded advertisement games, then later becoming an art director who contributed to creating new islands and managing the Poptropica store.
Jon leaves behind a legacy for the beloved game that simply can’t be overstated. His contributions to the community will forever be cherished and remembered — we wish him the very best! If you’d like to learn more about Jon’s work and impact, we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing him here on the PHB and have highlighted his Poptropica Portfolio from earlier in his career.

In a similar light, I too will be stepping away from blogging — on my own blog, Fierce Flyer Adventures, as well as here on the PHB.
As I’ve shared before, being asked to join the Poptropica Help Blog all those years ago is one of my favorite and most cherished moments, and this still holds true. The community I was able to be a part of and the friends I’ve met through Poptropica have changed my life for the better.
I sincerely believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without this chapter in my journey. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for being part of it.
Itโs all thanks to my sister really. I remember back in elementary school, in the late 2000s, I would look forward to staring at her computer screen. Well, up until the day I thought to myself, โHey, maybe I should give this Poptropica thing a try myself!โ
2. Who do you think is the most underrated character? Overrated?
A name that immediately comes to mind for me as criminally underrated is Merlin. I feel as though Merlin gets lost in the masterpiece that is Astro-Knights Island. I mean, the bird sacrifices himself to save your Poptropican. Any respect Merlin has received through the years needs to be tripled, โcause I donโt hear nearly enough about this saint of an owl.
As for overrated, itโs gotta be Dr. Hare, right? I mean, no disrespect to the doctor who decided to wear a pink bunny costume but, surely his PhD couldโve gone to better use elsewhere.

3. What are your favorite scenes, aesthetically and to play through?
Purely for the aesthetics, Iโve gotta go with Episode 1 of Survival Island. I really felt like I was there, like I was freezing and needed warmth and not just in the game. Getting that full immersive experience plus the beautiful scenery, is both nostalgic and was revolutionary to Poptropica.

4. From your perspective, how have you seen the Poptropica Help Blog (PHB) and community change over time?
Change is inevitable. In the Pop community, the biggest changes that I dealt with were fellow bloggers and Poptropica enthusiasts coming and going. But through it all, my fond memories with them remain dear to my heart, and I have a feeling they would say the same.
5. How has your PHB career surprised you?
Joining the PHB has gotta be a top 10 moment in my life in terms of excitement and happiness. I was over the moon when I was welcomed in, and was pleasantly surprised to find that through joining the blog, I also became a stronger writer.

6. What inspires you?
I could go on and on about the many things I see and learn everyday that inspire me, but if I had to choose just one, itโd be my older brother and fellow PHB author Sporty Boa. Heโs played a pivotal role in the progression of not only my creativity, but also my journey of becoming my best self. So, shout-out to my brotato chip!
This community means so much to me; itโs hard to just put it in words, as corny as that sounds. Iโve recently turned 18, so Iโm officially an โadult,โ and I can truly say that the Poptropica community โ everyone Iโve had the pleasure of meeting โ will hold a special place in my childhood as a cornerstone of my life growing up.
8. How have your experiences with the community and Poptropica influenced you IRL?
Oh for sure! My blog, Fierce Flyer Adventures, began as a Poptropica site, but has also branched out a bit. I made a post 4 ยฝ years ago called โThe Oath of Socializationโ where I basically challenged myself to break out of my shell and be my authentic self around others. That post really changed my life because, although it was only supposed to last for a week, I’ve been running with it to this day.

9. Outside of Poptropica and your PHB involvement, what are you passionate about?
Iโm super passionate about sports โ all kinds, really. Anything with a ball, and sometimes a puck or wheel, Iโll be watching it. Along with that, a passion Iโve always had is creating stories. I want to be an author one day, or a director/writer for my own show or movie!

Island: It’s a toss-up between Mystery Train and Reality TV, but Iโll give a slight edge to Mystery Train because of its captivating story and endearing characters.
Backstory/Lore: Ringmaster Raven. Such a captivating character with a truly tragic backstory, canโt help but to feel bad for himโฆ
Character: My guy Edgar! Every time he showed up on my screen I was grinning, a bright spot in an otherwise disturbingly creepy environment on Monster Carnival.
Villain: Poptropica has so many great villains, but the cake goes to Director D โcause as a kid, I thought he was the coolest dude ever. Hereโs a hot take: I think he could rock the bald look!
Costume: There are a lot of iconic costumes, but the one I remember the most, and always used, was the Midnight Ninja outfit. I would literally try to find any excuse possible to throw that thing on.

Hello everyone, Fierce here with two updates: a clubhouse store update, and… the story of what really happened to Legendary Swords!
First, the clubhouse store was updated on Tuesday, featuring plenty of nice decor to add to your abode. Thereโs plenty of furniture this time around with 43 decorations, 13 of which are for members. Some highlights from this collection are the neon signs of a cactus and crescent moon, plus welcoming text signs, all sure to brighten up your clubhouse โ figuratively and literally.
Weโve had quite the eventful month thus far, including a brand new Match 3 mini-game inspired by the classic Legendary Swords. Legendary Swords was a mini-quest released back in 2011, where your Poptropican was pitted against a race of robots led by the diabolical E. Vile. But, was this always the plan for this well-received adventure?
Veteran players may remember that, upon completing the mini-quest, a message would show up promising a Battle Arena coming soon. As time went on and this never materialized, the message eventually disappeared, even as the mini-quest stayed on.
The original promise.
The scrapped Battle Arena is even referenced in a trash bin on Mocktropica Island.

Answers to this mystery recently came up in the Instagram comments on Poptropica’s post about Legendary Swords: Match 3. According to former Pop Creator James D. Lema (@jamesdlema, also known as Director D), Legendary Swords was originally supposed to be a 3-part series with aspects of being able to use swords from costumes purchased from the store. Sadly, after the Legendary Swords we all know and love was released, the team behind the project did not get the go-ahead to complete the entire series. Director D (Lema) wrote, โ(It) broke my heart to not finish that story.โ I donโt know about you all, but this too breaks my heart. Legendary Swords for me was such an adventurous and unique idea in the Poptropica world that completely worked, and having even more added to that wouldโve been great.
Thatโs all as of now! Let us know in the comments what you think the other parts of Legendary Swords couldโve been like, had the team been greenlighted on the project. Also, donโt forget to mention which items you would personally include in your clubhouse.
Thanks for reading, and see you around, Poptropicans!
We’ve jotted down the more popular nominations for each category, and are now once more handing the baton off to all of you. It’s time to vote!
Each vote will help determine the winner of the 2020 Poppies, so vote wisely and promptly! Voting ends Wednesday, July 22, and we’ll be announcing the winners at our awards party that weekend.
Save the date for Saturday evening, July 25 when we’ll be announcing the winners on our PHC Discord server and celebrating the PHB’s birthday in Poptropica common rooms. We’ll post more about the party later, but in the meantime, get your outfit picked out and harness your inner party animal! After all, it wouldn’t be the Poppies without the loyal Poptropica community.
