Look of the Week

Our first “Look of the Week”: Young Turtle

Greetings Poptropicans — Fierce Flyer here!

Blue Tooth, Poptropica’s newest blogger, has followed up on the promise to feature a weekly series, showcasing some of the most glamorous Pop outfits from the Blast-Off Arcade with some awesome custom artwork. Our first “Look of the Week” winner is Young Turtle:

This dude’s “mixing and matching some classic ninja duds and modern bling to flip around the arcade in style,” says Blue Tooth, and I dig it.

What do you think? Have you been grooming for the perfect outfit to show off at the arcade? Tell us in the comments!

Poptropica Portfolio

Poptropica Portfolio: Jonathan Trimble

What’s up, PHB readers? Welcome to another Poptropica Portfolio, brought to you by Fierce Flyer! (And if you like this one, do check out other portfolios we’ve featured!)

This post’s spotlight shines on Jonathan Trimble, a creative designer from Arizona, USA, who has done work for both the original Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds. Below are some designs from his Behance account (click to enlarge images!).

He shares images of Poptropica on computer and mobile screens; plus, there’s a cool style guide that shows how scenes and art, characters and avatar sets work:

Over on Poptropica Original, he’s done a lot of work with advertising, with scenes from ad buildings for The Lego Batman Movie, ParaNorman, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Trimble’s portfolio showcases the format of the final product for all three of the ads, as well as the format of the minigames for Lego Batman and ParaNorman.

Next up is one of the most iconic scenes in Escape from Pelican Rock Island (or all of Poptropica, for that matter): sneaking past the prison guards as you try to escape to freedom. Check out the mechanics of your character’s movements:

That’s it for the Poptropica Original side of things, but we haven’t even begun to crack the surface of Poptropica Worlds! Let’s kick things off with its most recent island, Greek Sea Odyssey. Jonathan has created some incredible backgrounds here:

Lastly, we have a ton of Poptropica Worlds avatar designs that you may have seen in the store, as well as some that haven’t made it to the game, perhaps because they’re discarded designs or will be released later. Check them out:

Hope you enjoyed this Poptropica Portfolio from Jonathan Trimble! If you’d like to see more of his work, check out his page on Behance. I’ll see you guys next time!

Mythology Island, Social Media

What’s the Next Poptropica Worlds Island?

pop

Hello there fellow readers, Fierce Flyer here, or shall I say, Detective Fierce!

So, as you’ve probably noticed, Poptropica Worlds has been rather inactive lately—the last update was two months ago! However, we do know the Creators have been working on a new Island

Just one thing: exactly what Island is coming out? Join me on this investigation, and let’s predict the next Island to be released on Poptropica Worlds!

Twitter Tip-offs

Back in October 2017, the Poptropica Creators’ Twitter gave us this sneak peek on a new Island that will serve as our first lead in this investigation:

RG.png

This can be a number of things right off the bat, though my immediate instinct is Mythology Island. Other possibilities could be: Time Tangled Island (could be back in time), an awesomely renovated Realms (though unlikely) or maybe even an entirely different Island.

But maybe they’ve canceled it or been working on something else since then? We haven’t heard much else. Though this recent tweet, and the one above, might offer hope:

Let’s try to figure out what big things are happening…

Facebook Failures

Nothing of interest here—they haven’t posted on Facebook since Dec. 18, 2017.

Creators’ Blog Case

Surprisingly enough, looking over at the Poptropica Creators’ Blog, I discovered some pretty interesting stuff that might give me the clues for cracking this mystery. As I was scrolling through past posts, I stumbled upon a post about Cryptids Island from August. The post itself was quite random, having no updates and serving as more of a filler.

Cryptid_Island_1200x627 (1)

Recalling a memory in the back of my mind about when the post was made, I checked Twitter again. There, I found a string of tweets from the Creators promoting other Islands from Original Poptropica. These were, in order: Nabooti, Mythology, Arabian Nights, Cryptids, and Time Tangled Island.

However, these tweets (all tagged with #FridayFacts) were just for fun and didn’t offer any insights on new updates.

Moving on…

Instagram Investigation

Eureka! Earlier today, the Creators posted a brand new sneak peek on their Instagram. Along with the Twitter image above, and the evidence gathered, I believe we can make a pretty good guess as to what the next Island will be…

ig myth throne

Posted with the caption “Ascend to the throne!”, this may be the last true piece of evidence for making a prediction. Time Tangled Island? I think not. If you take a closer look at the the chair, you can see the framing made of glowing lightning bolts. The scenery colors also look very familiar to a boss battle scene from the Original Pop. I think I just might know what Island this could be…

What Island: Mythology Island!
When: Sometime in February or March!

From the clues, it’s clear as day that Mythology is the next and newest Island to be released on Poptropica Worlds, and it’ll be here soon! And, like the new 24 Carrot Island released several months ago, it’ll likely be a remastered version coming to Worlds.

Judging from those recent tweets and how awesome it looks, I’d say it appears to be near finished. Big news was on its way this month according to Twitter, so if all goes according to plan, it should be here sometime February, or at least by March!

For all you Poptropicans eagerly waiting to complete another Island, the skies are looking bright, or shall I say… stormy! You know, because of Zeus’s lightning bolts… stormy skies… okay, I’ll stop. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Hellos & Goodbyes

A new author flying in: Fierce Flyer

Hello everyone, Fierce Flyer here!

muuuuuuuuuuu4
add me: muuuuuuuuuuu4

As you can tell by the title, I’m the newest author to join the Poptropica Help Blog. I’m extremely honored to have been asked to join the team, and would like to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.

I go by Fierce Flyer, or Fierce for short (but I promise that doesn’t mean I’m mean! 😛 ). I’m a teen (13 years old!) who loves drawing, writing, sports and reading. You may know me from my Poptropica blog, Fierce Flyer Adventures (FFA) or from my presence on Discord servers such as the PHC. You can add me on Poptropica with the username: muuuuuuuuuuu4 (yep, I know that’s a lot of u’s).

I first got into Poptropica thanks to my older sister, who would always get back from school and hop onto the computer, where my brother and I would quickly pull up a chair to watch her conquer the Islands. So many fond memories brought me back to the game about a year and a half ago. Since then, I began blogging with Fierce Flyer Adventures. Throughout this time I met amazing people, became familiar with the Poptropica community, and found a bunch of friends.

If you’d like to know more about me, you can check out my “My Place in Poptropica” (MPIP) story and/or my blog. You can also reach me via Twitter (@FierceFlyer55) and Discord, both of which I use frequently!

Once more, thank you to the PHB staff for giving me this opportunity, which I’m truly grateful and excited for. I’ll try my hardest to bring quality and entertaining posts to the Poptropica community. I can’t wait to begin!!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Fierce Flyer

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Fierce Flyer, who has his own Pop blog at Fierce Flyer Adventures and once won a Poptropica contest. See below for how to send in your own MPIP!

Hello guys, Fierce Flyer here with a My Place in Poptropica story! This was originally posted on my blog, Fierce Flyer Adventures, as a Monthly Memory story. If you like this story, check out my last one – it’s a story about when I got my entire class to play Poptropica. Alright, let’s go!

Early Oct 2016 | Getting Acquainted with #PoptropicaArt

I had been playing Poptropica for a while, but my entrance into the community started about half a year ago, in October. One day I randomly opened up MS Paint and thought hmm, maybe I should draw a Poptropican. I’d never done fan art of Poptropica before. Ever. But hey, You’ve got to start somewhere, right?

Well, in case you’re wondering, it was… bad… so bad that I’m actually having second thoughts on showing you… but heck, here it is:

nonononono

The cringe! (I’ll probably do a redraw of this garbage art someday.) Heh. Anyway, around that time, I remembered seeing an art contest for Poptropica somewhere – it was the #PoptropicaArt contest. Time was running out to enter, so I thought I would submit this piece. And it sparked something in me.

I submitted two more pictures for the contest and hoped for the best, although, unfortunately, I didn’t win. Of course, I felt deflated, because I had put a lot of effort and time into the three pictures I entered, and not seeing them even place was disappointing. However, looking back at this, I realize just how far I’ve come in my art.

Late Oct 2016 | The Halloween Photo Booth Challenge

With the art contest over, I had no more use for the Facebook account I’d created to enter the contest, so I ditched it. Until… a new contest arose from the ashes!

I read the post on the Creators’ Blog, only to find that you had to submit entries using either Twitter or Instagram. But no Facebook! Yes! (Honestly, I dislike Facebook, with the way they keep notifying me every two minutes with “Do you know this person?” So, I was thrilled to switch to Twitter! You can follow me @MWare55.)

Anywho, the contest being held was the Halloween Photo Booth Challenge, and I was #ready! So, I submitted tons of entries (at the time I had no idea that winners would be randomly selected) and even made a comic! And yes, I still have it. Check it:

one hundred percent.png

Not bad, am I right? I teamed up with my brother Sporty Boa, and together we submitted over 10 entries! And we won – oh wow!

When I fount out, I literally ran around the house in triumph pumping my fist. (I also had the same reaction when Poptropica followed me on Twitter.) I was finally going to have a membership! So I direct-messaged Poptropica, waiting for the 1-month membership, and a couple days later, they got back to me. Now, I had wanted for my brother SB to get in on the membership too, but this is what they wrote to me word-for-word:

Hey there, Your membership was applied to your account yesterday. Your name was randomly picked for the membership and we can only award the membership to the actual users whose names were picked. Have your brother enter the new #MyPoptropicaCostume contest!!!

Although my brother didn’t get a membership, he was okay with it. He said I deserved it. SB, you the real MVP.

So I went on my account but… I still didn’t have a membership. So, that was a bummer, but I didn’t get back to Poptropica about it, because I didn’t feel like I needed it (besides, I don’t blame them for not getting my super long username). I didn’t mind not having a membership, but I bet it’d be awesome if I did.

Anyway, after that contest was over, a new one came up: the #MyPoptropicaCostume contest. As most of you know I didn’t participate in that one, but my bro did, and that was probably the beginning of his Pop community adventure.

December 2016 | Fierce Flyer Adventures

So I was browsing Twitter one day when I came upon another Poptropican Twitter account, Purple Claw’s (@Donatloul). I’d heard of him before, but not much until that day. I decided to check out the blog he had linked to in his Twiter bio. I’m pretty sure it made me go “woah!”

It was amazing to see news and all this cool stuff on a Poptropica fan blog, but I didn’t start my own blog right away. I decided I needed to study and learn more about different bloggers in the community first. Thus the search began! I studied and read and read and went non-stop…

It was the day after my birthday that the thought came to me to actually start my own blog, and so I created Fierce Flyer Adventures!! I made a welcome post first, and the very first person to comment on it was Purple Claw! Just seeing his name had me jumping from my couch and running around the living room four times before I came back to see what he had commented: “Welcome to the blogging world!”

I beamed with joy. Today, I’m still writing on my Poptropica blog, Fierce Flyer Adventures, and you can friend me with username muuuuuuuuuuu4.

As always,

coollogo_com-229871812

and I’ll see you next time. Fierce Flyer out!

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story!
