Wazzup, Poptropicanos! 🤟 It’s Pride Month: that special time of year when we shine a light on the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community while also honoring the significant contributions they’ve made throughout history. ✨ Let’s joyfully celebrate the acceptance and pride of the LGBTQ+ community and how far it’s come. 🌈

Like the real world, our online Poptropica community is home to a diverse array of awesome LGBTQ+ people who have greatly heightened the fandom with their contributions. What better way to celebrate this amazingness than by throwing a party in the Party Time Tower on Time Tangled Island? We’re proud to invite you to join us there!

  • 🥳 WHO: Only the coolest people are on the guest list, and that includes all of you, LGBTQ+ and allies alike. Some of the PHB staff will be hanging out too!
  • 👑 WHAT: Common room parties on Poptropica and chatting it up, creating art, and more all on our Discord chat server, the PHC. Don your most funky and dazzling rainbow outfits to increase your chances of being featured in our recap!
  • 🦄 WHEN: Saturday, June 28 — starting at 4PM PST / 5PM MST / 6PM CST / 7PM EST. (Tip: Search your location on this time converter to see what time it’ll be where you live.) Drop by when you can!
  • 🪅 WHERE: Join us for some fun and games at the Party Time Tower on Time Tangled Island, plus our Discord server, the PHC.
  • 🎊 WHY: To recognize and respect everyone’s inherent worth — and to have fun, of course!

For those who are unfamiliar, LGBTQ+ is a term that encompasses individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Learn more about LGBTQ+ identities in our post that explores this topic with some very cool Poptropica fan art! 💥

Sadly, members of the LGBTQ+ community often face a lack of respect regarding their sexual orientation or gender expression. However, that will never be acceptable in the Poptropica community! Keep your spirits high during these particularly challenging times, friends. 🫶

With the approach of June and many Pride-themed events, many Poptropicans may be unsure of how to respond to their friends in a way that makes them feel safe and supported. While we cannot speak for every situation, here are some pretty universal things not to do:

Hey Poptropicans, a colorful store update awaits! ❤️🧡💛

June is Pride Month, and the Pop Creators are joining in the celebrations with various new store items! 🏳️‍🌈 As they shared on the official blog, “This week’s item inventory pays a special homage to the LGBTQIA+ community! Poptropica is a safe, inclusive space for everyone. It’s only fitting that we recognize and celebrate the diverse identities and backgrounds from those within the Poptropica community and the world.” Check out the technicolor threads at Adventure Outfitters:

The new rainbow raiments (Breezy Pride, Sporty Pride, and Rainbow Shoes) are available for free right now in the store! You can also find a few Pride-themed items on the shop floor: a rainbow beanbag and rainbow heart poster for your clubhouse, and the Rainbow Ride hoodie.

The Creators’ Blog mentions the Rainbow Kite, but this doesn’t seem to be in the store. However, the kite was released as a member gift in May, which makes it an unlikely candidate to be a store item so soon in June.

Plenty of other hues are available in-store too, with noteworthy new items like the Volleyball Jersey and the Cat Traveler Pack!

Plus, pets get plenty of fresh style options too — including a shark fin, flowery bandanna, snorkels, and more! With the recent return of the Colorizer (for pets too) in the character screen update (RIP Costumizer), you can go back to giving your pet the glow-up they need.

Anyway, all this colorful gear is going to go great with our Pride Palooza coming up this Friday at 8 pm Eastern! It’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and pride parades are happening everywhere around the globe. And like before, we’re bringing one to Poptropica! With affirmation of equality for our LGBTQ+ friends and fun times for all, we invite you to the PHB’s 2021 Pride Palooza:

  • ❤️ WHO: Everyone’s invited — you don’t have to identify as LGBTQ+. Some PHB staff will be in attendance too!
  • 🧡 WHAT: Hanging out on Poptropica and our Discord chat server, the PHC. Though there’s a focus on LGBTQ+ pride, the conversation can be about anything. Also, we encourage you to dress up your character in rainbow colors and fun gear just like at a real life pride parade!
  • 💛 WHEN: Friday, June 18 @ 8 pm Eastern / 7 pm Central / 6 pm Mountain / 5 pm Pacific. If you’re in another time zone, use this converter to see what time it’ll be where you live. It may be Saturday morning, June 19, in some parts of the world. PHB parties usually go on for a couple hours, so come and go however you’re able! 😄
  • 💚 WHERE: Meet us at the Blast-Off Arcade formerly on Home Island! 🚀 You can access it by going to the menu and clicking “Arcade.” We’ll also be on the PHC, a safe chat space where PHB staff and other Poptropicans regularly hang out (for ages 13+). If you’re under 13, you can keep the party going in the comments of this post.
  • 💙 WHY: To celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and have fun!

For those who are unfamiliar, LGBTQ+ is an acronym that stands for individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer (an umbrella term) or questioning. Sadly, LGBTQ+ people are not always respected for who they are in terms of who they choose to love or what gender they present as. But not here in the Poptropica community!

As a fandom with its share of LGBTQ+ people and allies, the Poptropica community is generally a safe space for LGBTQ+ expression. With this Pride Palooza, the PHB encourages unity, particularly with those who are different, and the freedom to be your true lovable self.
