The Croods… Experience!

There is a new “experience” advertisement located on Shark Tooth Island. This thing is so big that it is worthy of a post on the Creator’s Blog!

The Croods are on Poptropica!

An adventure of pre-historic proportions is landing on Poptropica!

If you visit Shark Tooth Island, you will have the opportunity to enter the world of The Croods, in theaters March 22. In this experience, you can explore some spectacular new locations…

…meet new friends…

…and try out new costumes and powers!

The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. In search of a new home, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.

When you first click on the building to enter, you have a choice of three common rooms to enter… the Jungle Room, the Tree Top Room, and Sun-Lit Room! Before entering you get a short description of some of the characters.

Once in the first room, the Jungle Room, you can head to the right to get Belt’s Da Da Daa! power and Eep’s Musical Shell. Belt’s power shows a cut screen with Belt saying “Da Da Daa!” Eep’s shell is a hand held item. When you press the space bar, you bring it up to your mouth and blow through it. You can also head to the top to watch the punch monkeys do their thing (as seen in the 3rd photo in the creators blog post), or check out the costume!

Room1

The second room, the Tree Top Room, has a beautiful view of the stars. You can head to the right to get the Sandy’s Speed Crawl power and the Gran’s Amazing Cane item. The Sandy’s Speed Crawl power makes you run across the screen on all fours. Gran’s Cane is a hand held item. When you press the space bar, it spins around. You can also head to the top to see some shooting stars, or head to the top left where it says “click here for costumes.”

Room2

This then sends you to the last room, the Sun-Lit Room. In here you can go to the left where you can get the Douglas’ Stick Trick power, which gives you a hand held stick that is thrown when you press the space bar and returned to you by Douglas. The Grug’s Super Punch power lets you super punch the ground when you press the space bar. Also go to the top and watch the Macawnivore attack, or head to the left and get the two costumes!

Room3

So which of the powers/prizes/rooms/costumes is your favorite? 🙂

Say cheese! Poptropica album photos now on the PHB

Album Photos

As you play through one of Poptropica’s many island adventures, the game will snap a photo of your character at certain checkpoints and you can go back and view your photos via the Photo Album on your Poptropica Friends profile. You can also browse through your friends’ photo collections and customize from what your (or your friend’s) character is wearing with the shirt button at the top.

Less is Mordred.

Most islands have 4 photos, though Early Poptropica and Super Power have 5, and Skullduggery has just 3. Only members are able to view all the photos they’ve collected, but non-members, hold on for the good news! Now on each of the PHB’s island info/trivia pages, you can take a look at every photo, witty captions included.

The Poptropica Creators’ Blog recently posted that there are currently 133 photos to amass, showing off the photo album of PHB reader Elphangor (Lone Heart), who has done just that. (That was also the post that tried to cover up the naming of Back Lot Island, but fortunately, the PHB post below will catch you up on that big scoop!)

Congrats and thanks to Elphangor (username omitted) for his achievement, which has made it possible for the PHB to take pictures of all these pictures, now available on this blog for your perusal.

Say cheeeeeese! 😀

Back Lot Island, Sneak Peeks

It disappeared as quickly as it came. (Back Lot Island!)

If you’d go to the Creator’s Blog right now, you’d see a post that looks like this:

Picture yourself on Poptropica

When you travel somewhere, the best way to remember your trip is by taking photos. The same is true when you journey into Poptropica.

Ever since we launched the Photo Album feature last year as part of Poptropica Friends, we’ve been adding four new photos to every Island. At this point, there are 133 unique photos that you can collect, simply by playing through each Island!

But Poptropica photos are even better than the ones you take on vacation, because you can actually costumize off of what you were wearing in each one. The same is true when you look through your friends’ photo albums!

If you haven’t opened your photo album for awhile, take look — you might be surprised at what you find.

However… that wasn’t the post it was at first.

*cue DUN DUN DUNNN*

When this was first posted, it was talking about something else… here’s what it said:

Sneaky. Very Sneaky.

“What’s the next Island going to be?” That’s the question we hear over and over when we talk to our fans. Well, if you want a hint as to what we’re working on next, the best thing to do is visit Sneak Peeks in the Daily Pop!

In Sneak Peeks, we post concept art and other work in development for unannounced Islands. If you’d been checking Sneak Peeks through January and February and seen images like the one posted above, you probably would have surmised that we were working on a movie-themed Island… long before we announced Back Lot Island!

Sneak Peeks is updated five days a week. All you need to do to check it out is to visit Poptropica and click on the “Daily Pop” icon to see the latest.

We’re usually working on more than one Island at a time. Can you guess what we might be working on next?

If you peruse that post a little bit, you’ll see this set of words: Back Lot Island.  I tested to see if the Creators bought that domain name and sure enough….

http://www.backlotisland.com/

They did. So I guess we have our island name now! You think you could let that one disappear like you did with Cryptids Island, didn’t ya? Well, you were caught. 😛

BT out!

Night Watch Island, Sneak Peeks

From behemoth to infant, this coffee shop delights

What keeps you going? Perhaps a gargantuan mug of fragrant cappuccino? Captain Crawfish posted this new sneak peek of a coffee shop, with windows showing a backdrop of palm trees (perhaps part of the movie/theater island). There’s even free wifi! Such a cozy place.

If you’re still struggling to relax yourself, maybe this motivational poster will help.

Motivational poster

Because there’s nothing more inspiring than a soaring eagle with the caption “motivational poster”… well, at least it isn’t discouraging! 😛 But, y’know, if you’re still looking for something to make yourself feel better, there’s a booth on Night Watch Island that will feature your stunning (and not at all derpy) Poptropican’s face on a magazine of your choice – like the gaming mag Final Boss Weekly.

Final Boss Weekly

So, what makes you happy? It may sound cheesy, but in spite of everything, don’t forget to enjoy the gift of life and smile. 😀

And while we wait for the Creators to tell us what’s going on with the new sneak peeks, check out the PHB’s 8 million hits special – the Ongoing Story Creation, in which everyone is encouraged to continue the tale of Jumpy Jumper (JJ) and the mysterious Island X as it’s written in the comments section. Keep on keepin’ on!

A PHB Special: the Ongoing Story Creation

8mil ongoing story creation
In celebration of this Poptropica Help Blog recently reaching 8 million hits (thanks everyone!), we’re going to do something fun! In the comments section, ANYONE is welcome to join in as we weave an ongoing story, a Poptropica fan-fiction of sorts, told in second-person narrative. It begins here…

“Um, hello. I’m here to register for something called, uh, ‘Poptropica’?” Amidst the realm of blue vines in front of you, a crate, small and wooden, bounces out, shaking blue dust and spitting out a question of your gender. You stare incredulously before you finally manage to respond. “I’m a boy,” you tell the little box, and then it erupts a circle of numbers in individual bubbles as it asks you the next question. This is a very strange sign-up process, you think to yourself, as you decide to tell the box etched with a curious question mark that you are 9 years old.

“Your name is Jumpy Jumper. When you are ready, hop into the blimp and travel to any island.” You ponder the map for a while, but decide none of the islands suit you. “There’s got to be something better…” you mutter to yourself. Just then, you see it. Out of the corner of your eye, there’s another island, shrouded in mystery by layers of smog and unidentifiable smells. Island X.

“But no one’s ever been there before,” the voice warns, the voice of the box that had guided your creation earlier. “Jumpy Jumper, JJ, you can’t… how did that even get on the map anyway? It’s not safe… please no… JJ!!” But it’s too late. You’re gone.

What happens next? Will JJ survive the unknown dangers of the mysterious Island X? What is the island’s secret, its true name, the people, the villain(s), the setting? You and your fellow PHB readers get to decide what items he collects and uses, other places he visits, and the adventures that await…

RULES: Make sure it follows what others have written before you, makes sense, and if you wish to add a comment that is not part of the story itself, use parentheses, for example: (I think we should…) Your comment can be as long or short as you like and you are definitely welcome to contribute as many times as you like. Be creative!

Where will these words take us? Continue the story in the comments!
