PHB Sneak Peeks

PHB Sneak Peeks: Crisis Caverns, Spy Island SUI, & More

Hey, Poptropicans!

Mighty Gamer coming at ya LIVE– well, no. Not live. But, I am coming at you with some more sweet sneak peeks! Let’s get this started with some Crisis Caverns, our most anticipated island!

Thanks goes to idk and Joey for the sneak peeks below.

Crisis Caverns – Main Street

Here’s an xml file to take a look at, which basically just has the island’s name, Crisis Caverns. And the island’s first scene, which is identified as “cavern1”.

And here’s an actual video of the room I was just talking about – “cavern1”, which is the Main Street. Also, looks like an arrow was added to the save button in the corner!

For more cool videos like this one here, click here to be directed to Joey‘s YouTube channel where he has videos of scenes from a Super Power SUI and more.

SUI-ifying Cancellation

idk managed to access the now-cancelled Spy Island SUI scenes, and took a video of the satellite room with the big screen for us. Maybe it’s because of Pop 2.0, or something else, but as far as we know it appears to be cancelled.

Anyway, here’s the video. You can definitely tell it’s SUI (sound-updated island) by the sound effects of jumping up and down and running.

For more cool videos like this one here, click here to be directed to idk‘s YouTube channel where he has SUI-ified scene videos of Mystery Train.

Although not on video, he has also access the SUI scenes of other islands like Super Power, Spy, Skullduggery, Vampire’s Curse, Super Villain, Zomberry, Night Watch, and Back Lot – none of which are currently SUIs, and whether their SUI status is either cancelled or still planned for the future is unknown.

Plus, here’s a messed up backdrop of Super Power for you all. 😛 Marvel in its greatness:

That’s all for this sneak peeks post! What do you think of it? Like or dislike? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time!

  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).

Community Celebrities: Mighty Gamer

mgcommceleb

Hey guys, Slip here!

Welcome to a brand new Community Celebrity post! Community Celebrities is a series where people from the Poptropica community are interviewed so you can get to know them more! Like Stolen Snapshots, it used to be on Slippery Raptor’s Blog, but will now be on the PHB instead. You can check out past celebrities here.

Anyway, welcome: Mighty Gamer! You may know her around the community from her MPIP story, her blog, or more recently, as a PHB author. Let’s begin!

What’s the best Island in Poptropica? The worst?

I’d have to say Red Dragon is the best island. Or, at least, it is to me. Though, my opinion on this matter has changed quite a bit over times. Over the course of island completing, I’ve found myself enjoying islands like Astro-Knights or Counterfeit. But for now, Red Dragon remains my favorite.

As for the worst island, I’d have to say either Super Power or Virus Hunter. I can’t say which is worse, as I’d had equally the same frustration, but for different reasons. As far as Super Power goes, I find it too repetitive with hardly any storyline. And Virus Hunter, well… I find it way too long and complicated. Not just that, but it was also very buggy and would lock up way too many times. It wasn’t very enjoyable, to say the least.

What’s your medallion count?

My medallion count is 56 – I’ve completed all the islands, though. For some reason, not all my medallions are showing. I’ve completed PoptropiCon – Episode 1. I’ve tried replaying it, but it’s still not showing up. Perhaps I will need to contact Poptropica. But yeah, I’ve technically beat all the islands.

What’s your favorite game?

Poptropica! C’mon, Slip!

Really, though, my favorite game is actually that. I do play other games like Minecraft, The Sims 4, 60 Seconds!, Bloons TD5, Undertale, and other various games and apps, but I mainly play the game we all know and love today. I’ve come to love the game and its community so much, that I’m often either on the PHC or the MPC Discord server. Either that, or I’m browsing different blogs and its contents. I’m very active in the community!

Who’s your favorite villain?

As I said on question 1, at one point or another, Counterfeit was one of my favorite islands. And we all know what well-known villain was on that island: Black Widow, of course! I think that with a great island, a greater villain should be later revealed. And in this case, it’s our beloved art thief! The main reason I love this villain so much is because of her setting – Counterfeit Island. I believe this island has a good storyline and a good flow.

How did you find the Poptropica community?

The PHB. Generic answer, huh? But yeah, that’s how I got to discover the community. I never really interacted with those around me, though. I basically just read a few PHB posts when curiosity arose, and rarely commented on posts I found interesting. But thanks to joining Twitter, I began to interact with others. I’m not exactly sure of the date, but it was early November of 2015. I started commenting on the Creators’ tweets, and then I started following my fellow Poptropicans, and then I made a blog due to seeing how many other people have made them. And so much has happened since.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like gaming, reading, writing, drawing, and blogging! I also like collecting Snapple bottle caps (as weird as it sounds, they do have cool random facts on them), snow globes (I’ve spent quite a bit of money on them), and I’m always on the lookout for old books (I recently bought a children’s book from 1912 – it’s very worn, and was dusty when I found it). I collect a lot of things if you haven’t noticed by now. 😉

Any extra information you want to share with the community? 🙂

I’d like to encourage everyone to take a look at my blog, Explore Collect Compete, where several Poptropicans, including myself, post. We’re currently looking for just one more author – see this post if you’re interested!

Thank you so much, Mighty Gamer, for taking time to answer this! You’re one awesome Community Celebrity! Stay awesome!

My Place in Poptropica

My Place in Poptropica: Bony Catfish

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Bony Catfish, who’s had a lot of fun on her Poptropica journey, particularly within the blogging community, but currently has other priorities in her life. See the bottom of this post for details on sending in your own MPIP!

MPIP-BonyCatfish

Hey guys, Bony Catfish aka BC aka Ingrid here. After seeing all the other “My Place in Poptropica” posts, I figured I’d send one in too.

Late 2009 – early 2010 | The Beginning of Bony Catfish

The day I got introduced to the Poptropican world all started when I was in first grade. I was on Funbrain doing the basic first grade math and an ad for Poptropica was there. Six-year-old me was thinking, “What even is that game? Is it a good game or bad?” I was quite the outgoing and curious child back in the day, so I clicked on the flashing Poptropica ad and it led me to the home page.

“This seems so familiar,” I thought. Then I remembered that my friend had told me about it. She was telling me how she completed these islands and had this cool character with a cool hat… blah blah blah. I made a character which lasted for a good two years before forgetting about the game and then my password. Just kidding, I was exaggerating, it was for a couple months, you see little ol’ me couldn’t really remember her Poptropica years as a kid. I can’t even remember my Poptropican’s name (although, I’m pretty sure it got glitched for some weird reason and it’s probably “Undefined Undefined”). My username for my old account is lara1720 by the way! 😉

2011 – 2012 | Actually completing the islands

I was pretty much used to Poptropica and its concept a year after making my account: Explore islands. Collect (ummm, I actually forgot and I still don’t even know what you “collect” in Poptropica to this day. I’m gonna need to talk to Jeff Kinney). Complete islands. You only need half a brain cell in order to figure out what Poptropica really is about.

Anyways, I went backwards (’cause why the heck not) and completed Astro-Knights Island. To be fair I regretted doing that because I didn’t even know what to do or where to even start. I played Poptropica for 30 minutes in the weekends because back then, I had a curfew and I had to finish ALL my homework because education came first… however, there may have been some exceptions at times where I was able to go play Pop. This was also the era where my parents were worried about internet safety so I had to hide my screen whenever they were here.

I didn’t know how to complete the island, so I  explored a little bit, y’know, experimented with stuff, like, figure it out myself. That obviously didn’t work so I called my friend to see if she knew. She actually forgot how she played the island, so I went on YouTube to watch some walkthroughs. I was one of those people who needed to actually see what to do so just listening didn’t work. I watched the video only to realize I was also one of those people who can’t pay attention and needs to watch something again and again.

It took a while to finish the video, but I finally figured it out. I did the exact same steps and before you know it, I got a medallion. That’s how I completed islands from then on, using video guides, and the rest was just me using my brain.

March 2014 | Bloggin’ ’bout Pop

I took a break from Poptropica for a year and a half break (not really, I just forgot about it) but remembered when someone mentioned “Poptropica” in a chatroom. So I went on Poptropica, only to realize I’d forgotten my password. I made a new account with a new username (my current one; add me @ Dr.FunTimesXD ; yes I was a Gravity Falls fanatic) and it kinda stunk that I had to complete all the islands again that I’d already done on my old account, and complete the newer ones on top of that. It took a while, but I was up to date with islands afterwards.

I also read written walkthroughs from that point on, on Poptropica blogs. The thought finally came to me, “What if I made a blog too?” I was one of those people who “made my can’ts into cans and my dreams into plans” and I soon made a blog straight outta WordPress. Again, this is the era where my parents were really cautious about who I talked to online, so I had to be extra careful.

The blog did go through some changes as it grew, from Bony Catfish’s Poptropica Blog, to Poptropica 411, to Poptropica Rewind. The blog wasn’t very pop-ular from the start (see what I did there 😉 ) and so I really had to get my name out there. I commented on people’s posts on other blogs, added blog posts, had people advertise my name, you know, all that jazz. I then realized that blogging is a whole lot of fun and I wouldn’t want to stop from here. I made new friends, found new stuff, some great facts, and saw Pop from a different light.

October 2014 | Not about that Poptropica life

After school was out, I was more busy on Pop and working on the blog. Then because school has to ruin my Pop life, 6th grade came around and I was busier than ever. So busy, I couldn’t even touch the computer. I also went on a three-week trip to Europe (somewhere) to visit my cousins. While I was there, I would still visit the Poptropica blogs here and there to see how things were going, but I was too busy to post. I also didn’t play Pop as frequently as I used to, so I gave up on Pop and blogging altogether because school is my first priority before anything else.

2016 | You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone

I’m busy with a lot of things right now. As a 7th grader, I’ve lost my interest and time with Poptropica. I do other things (such as band, my phone, social media, softball, etc) and don’t even touch Pop. I was lucky enough to find a weekend to write this up, because on other weekends, I’m just so tired from school and use the time to hang out with my irl friends and a bunch of other things.

I still go on the PHC (the PHB’s chat) to reconnect with my Pop and blogging friends. When they talk about Poptropica, I miss out on a lot and it makes me want to go on Poptropica because of every update after update. You won’t really find me blogging but you’ll find me chatting at the PHC. If you remember me, remember to stop by to say hi to me, I’ll most likely remember you.

To all new and current Poptropicans: I wish you the best of luck. You might be overwhelmed with all the new updates and islands Poptropica has for you, but I hope you make as much of a difference as I did. It’s not about completing islands, it’s about having fun in the Poptropica world. And someday you may become bloggers like I was, and have fun with that too.

Love, Much luck,

Ingrid

P.S. Add me on Poptropica, Dr.FunTimesXD, if you haven’t already! 😀

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Click here to read more MPIPs, and look out for more in the future!
