Poptropica Portfolio

Poptropica Portfolio: Jonathan Pitcher

Hello, Poptropicans—it’s time to feature another Poptropica Portfolio!

This time around, we’ll be looking into the works of Jonathan Pitcher, who’s been working for StoryArc Media as an art director for over eight years. The work I’ll be highlighting here is a collection of his artwork for Poptropica from his Behance page, which also includes his non-Poptropica work.

Here are a couple of costume designs for the advertisement games on Poptropica which includes the Tigress costume from Kung Fu Panda and a few of the Zootopia characters, which are brilliant in my opinion. (Click on the images to enlarge them.)

Also, here is the elaborate apparatus of Steamworks Island which includes the multi-tool (two different versions shown here at the bottom left side), Sully’s key, the robot crab, and more! Check it out:

Lastly, here are some characters Pitcher has illustrated for Worlds that are recognizable from all of the islands released so far. Also, there’s this cool character low poly for Mya, and a red ugly/cute Dragon Follower from Pop Original. Awesome stuff!

Those of you who’ve played Survival Island: Episode 4 might also appreciate this item now that you know who probably inspired it…

Thanks for reading! Talk you in the next one.

Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: MissEligon

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here, showcasing the wonderful works of MissEligon in another Pop Fan Artist Spotlight. MissEligon has won two art-related Poppies Awards with her “Danganronpa the Island” fan fiction (winner of the Poppies’ Best Fan Fiction in 2017) and her traditional visual piece, “Explore, Collect, Complete” (winner of the Poppies’ Best Fan Art in 2016). She’s gotta be a great artist, right? You bet!

Check out this collection of some of her work below (click to enlarge images):

Incredible, wouldn’t you agree?

Eligon credits her significant other, Criaha (another fantastic artist in the community!), for helping her with the anatomy in her drawings.

Here are a couple of tips for improvement with anatomy, as well as not letting people ruin your fun, from MissEligon herself:

If you ever want to create a character who has pink hair, is dating a canon character, is a child of a canon character, or other characteristics that makes people call them “Mary-sues” [i.e. generic], ignore those people—you’re only having fun with your ships or headcanons.

Also, if you want to improve your art, try searching up some anatomy tutorials and take inspirations from the many sources you love. The entire point is to keep on having fun and not let people ruin your fun.

Interested in seeing more of her art? Check out her DeviantArt gallery, and prepare to be amazed! She has lots of canon art, but also a ton of her fan villains which are ridiculously cool.

In previous Pop Fan Artist Spotlights, I’ve featured the awesome art of BlazingAngel123, treesareredinautumn, and ANNE14TCO—be sure to check theirs out, too.

I hope you enjoyed this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork! Perhaps you’re even encouraged to make Poptropica fan art yourself.  If you’ve created some of your own, we’d love for you to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery, We-Love-Poptropica.

App

An app-reciable odyssey and outfit of the week

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here popping in to announce, first of all, that Greek Sea Odyssey is now available on the Poptropica Worlds app!

What took the Creators so long? Well, whatever the reason may be, it’s better late than never, right? 😉 At least they finally mentioned the island on their blog.

If you need any help, check out our Greek Sea Odyssey Island Guide here on the PHB, complete with pics, trivia, and more!

Also, a new Outfit of the Week has been posted, and this week, dark/gothic filmmaker Tim Burton takes the center stage.

The outfit comes from Silver Fox of the Poptropica Fashion Wiki. It’s good to see the Creators are giving the deserved credit to the costume’s designer.

Along with the outfit itself, there’s also a little trivia at the bottom of the post that reads:

Who is the musician and composer who has composed music for all of Tim Burton’s films except for three?

I honestly have no clue. Do you know?

Anyway, that’s all for now folks! Thanks for reading, and talk to you in the next one.

Pop Fan Artist Spotlights

Pop Fan Artist Spotlight: ANNE14TCO

Hello, everyone!

It’s Lucky Joker here with another Pop Fan Artist Spotlight! Previously, I showcased the amazing art of BlazingAngel123 and treesareredinautumn. The featured artist this time around is ANNE14TCO, or more simply known as Anne.

Anne predominantly creates digital art of her OCs but also writes about them in her “The Chosen Ones” fan fiction and does animation.

Anne is known for using many cool special effects in her art which, in my opinion, adds a magical quality to her already phenomenal illustrations. It really makes you feel like you could dive right into her drawings, which I love!

Check out this collection of some of her visual art below:

Anne says she may pursue a career in any field in the arts whether that be a songwriter or a movie animator. I know she’ll do a wonderful job with whatever she decides to do. 😉

If anyone’s curious to know which software programs Anne uses to create her stunning masterpieces, she mostly uses Paint Tool Sai but also uses MediBang, FireAlpaca, Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, and Adobe Flash/Animate.

Anyway, I strongly encourage you to check out her DeviantArt gallery to see more of her work! It’s truly pleasing to the eye.

And that concludes this artist spotlight! I hope you enjoyed this look into a Poptropica fan’s artwork. Perhaps you’re even encouraged to make your own Poptropica fan art. If you’ve created some of your own, we’d love for you to share it on our DeviantArt group gallery at We-Love-Poptropica.

Poptropica Portfolio

Poptropica Portfolio: Kyle Fox

A new Poptropica Portfolio is here – and in this case the featured artist is Kyle Fox, a designer who has been working with web and mobile products for kids for over 10 years now. He’s posted lots of his work with Poptropica and Poptropica Worlds on his Behance portfolio, and it’s pretty impressive!

First up, we have a Zomberry Pitch Bible, a compendium of Zomberry information used to pitch the idea of Zomberries as “The Walking Dead for kids.” Essentially it’s a series of infographics covering everything Zomberry Island, like the details of the Zomberry outbreak, setting, Zomberries themselves, and more. (Click on the pics to enlarge them!)

He’s also made some spectacular art for past advertisements on Poptropica. Check out the ad designs for Moana, Mr. Lemoncello’s Library, and Coco!

Then we come to some character designs, which include Poptropica Worlds Mythology Island NPCs, plus store costumes of modern styles, Wild West fashion, and the app-exclusive Fall Fashion and Winter bundles. Also, jungle animals for some ads.

Kyle has also built up a small but impressive collection of printable posters for various islands, including Virus Hunter postcards with body-themed puns, Zomberry prints resembling movie posters, and a Monster Carnival poster reminiscent of a circus flyer.

Quite a few infographics on Poptropica for the years 2012 and 2016 are also among his works. These cover descriptions and statistics about various islands, the Friends feature, and Poptropica as a whole.

Additionally, Kyle has engineered sound effects for Worlds and composed music for Poptropica. The most noteworthy in his collection is a demo of a proposed theme song for Poptropica, which has never been used (but totally should be!). The playful tune incorporates a tropical theme, with flutes, various percussion instruments, and ends with a group of kids singing in chorus: “Poptropica.”

There’s lots more Poptropica work for viewing on Kyle’s Behance site. If you enjoyed these highlights, check out the rest of his portfolio here!

Hopefully you enjoyed this Poptropica Portfolio! If you did, you might also like the many other Poptropica Creators’ portfolios we’ve featured here. Check them out, too!

Until next time,
