Astro-Knights and Reality TV are coming…

 Our most recent staff member to join the PHB Team, Grumpy Wolf, has been added to the Poptropica Help Blog’s header! Thank you for the wonderful change, Codien!

Astro-Knights Island Coming Soon! The Astro-Knights Island official description has been changed for the 3rd time! It now says:

Launch thyself into a new adventure on Poptropica! The Princess hath been kidnapped and taken to the far reaches of space. Thou must assemble a space vessel and fly among the stars on an intergalactic quest to rescue her and save the kingdom of Arturus.
Taken from http://www.poptropica.com/astro_island.html.

Also, the image of Binary Bard has changed into a man in some warrior’s armor. The brown body is possibly made of bronze, and the helmet and spear could be silver, iron, or steel.

We now know that the kingdom the royal familyย lives inย is called Arturus, which might be related to the Arthurian legends, as Cheerful Claw said. It looks like we’re going to save the Princess again, instead of the King and Queen.

Reality TV Island Coming Soon!Reality TV Island finally has an official description, rather than the unofficial description from the Creators’ Blog! Here’s what it reads:

Have you ever wanted to be the star of a reality TV show? Well, now’s your chance! Duke it out with your fellow contestants and avoid elimination to win the show’s grand prize and become a hero to your home town.
Taken from
http://poptropica.com/reality_island.html.

The picture showing a campfire at night with trees and a hut surrounding it may possible the “home town” that the description is talking about. It’s also related to this sneak peek we had earlier!

Also, the hippie guy on the right resembles the one shown in this sneak peek. He’s got curly dark brown hair with some strands sticking out, a tan-colored headband, and a big smile. Mr. Hippie is also wearing a peace symbol necklace, a rainbow-colored shirt, and tan muddy pants. Do you think he’s one of the contestants from another town or is he a citizen of your home town? We’ll have to wait and see!

The island banners, or signs,ย on the homepage of Poptropica.com have also changed!

  • The “Now Online: Big Nate Island” banner has been removed. Just as well too – it was already released so many months ago!
  • The “Coming this spring: AstroKnights” banner has been changed to “Coming soon: AstroKnights”. Yippee!

AstroKnights coming soon

  • There is a new banner that says “Coming later this year: Reality TV Island”. This means that we will have RTV Island to look forward to before the year 2009 comes to an end!

RealityTV coming later this year

There’s also a new poll on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog about AK Island: How excited are you for Astro-Knights to come out? Here are the results as of today!

So, ready for some double-polling? Make sure you read the post below, The Monthly Surprise, if you haven’t already, because it’s important that you do.

As you know, Poptropica Help Blog is writing monthly special newsletters starting in June 2009. We’ve already received many fantastic entries in our inbox, and love all the creativity you guys have been coming up with so far! For June 2009’s edition, the entries will be due on May 31st, 2009, the last day of the month. Just e-mail them to [email protected]! ๐Ÿ˜‰

However, we’re having a bit of a trouble picking out the right name for these awesome newsletters. Which is where you can help in 4 simple clicks of your mouse! At our “Poptropica Poll” widget on the left, you can now find 2 new polls: PHB Newsletter Name: Part 1, and Part 2. For example, if you pick ‘(Blank)’ for Part 1 and ‘Ringer’ for Part 2, then you would be suggesting the name ‘[The] Ringer’. We are currently keeping the poll results private to avoid too much competition, but you’ll find the winning name on June 7th’s edition of the newsletter!

Poll 1’s options: (Blank), Poptropican(‘s), Monthly, PHB(‘s), Poptropica

Poll 2’s options: (Blank), Gazette, Post, Press, Page(s), People, Messenger, Times, Super/Ultra/Mega, Special, NewsPost, Newsletter, NewsPage, NewsPress, NewsRoom, Informer, Tipper, Poster, Hotspot, Nooz, Mailcall, Picks, Ringer, Newspaper, 411 Brainiacs, 911 (For all your Poptropica emergencies!), 360(ยฐ)

The Monthly Surprise

๐Ÿ™‚ We are happy to announce the major event that will be happening every month, and you will be involved. ๐Ÿ™‚

_Aย Special “PHB Monthly Newsletter”_
The First Sunday of Every Month

The PHB Newsletter. A giantย mixture of news, events and even competitions. From now on, on the first Sunday of every month we will post this legendary post. It will consist ofย almost 10ย sections for pure Poptropica awesomeness. ๐Ÿ˜›
That’s right, it’s what you have been dreaming about.

The monthly post will contain things like:

  • “Ask PHB”: Readers can ask questions about Poptropica via e-mail to the PHB staff. We can select about 3 of them to publish per month.
  • Competitions.
  • “PHB Sneak Peeks” – Yes, new ones. ๐Ÿ˜›
  • Stories: Readers can submit their own short stories to PHB’s e-mail and we can select one for every month, OR we can hire someone to be a “Newsletter Author”, and they will send in a short story/chapter or part of a long story (for each month) to PHB’s e-mail for us to publish each month.
  • Submit Your Own: Let readers submit their own ideas (maybe their dreams of what kind of island they want to see on Poptropica), stories, competition entries, fan art (comics, etc) and more to [email protected].
  • Current News/Monthly Reflection: A summary of what happened in Poptropica for the past month – Sneak peeks, new islands, new ads, etc
  • “Easter Eggs”: In each issue, reveal a secret (known as “Easter eggs”) from Poptropica. (example: typing ‘1225’ in the phone from Nabooti for a Santa hat and sack) or maybe someone besides Dr. Hare.
  • Fan Art: Show a Poptropica-themed poem, comic, drawing, puzzle, or something else created by a Poptropican.

Any more suggestions? Opinions? If you would like to apply for any of these positions, you may start now and send them over to [email protected]. We can’t wait to see our readers’ creativity!

A Note Regarding ‘Poptropica Poll’

As you’ve probably noticed, we have a sidebar widget titled ‘Poptropica Poll’, where there is a Poptropica-related poll that readers may vote on. They used to be changed at random times, but starting this month, they will be changed every time a new PHB monthly newsletter is released (the first Sunday of a month). This month’s new poll will start a little later, probably next week, and will ask the question, “What would you like the PHB’s monthly newsletter to be called?” We will use this to review your suggestions, and when June’s edition of the newsletter comes out, you will find the winning name, as well as a new poll updated for the coming month!

We have the idea. We have the writers. The only problem? We don’t know what to call it.
Comment with your great ideas on this post. Your suggestions may be put into the next poll.
