Hey Poptropicans, April’s showering of store items is here—with a new twist?

A billboard on Home Island is promoting several springtime items now available in the store, with the promise that there will be “new stuff every week.” That weekly part is a first, since we’ve been getting monthly updates in the store for a couple years now.

In the store, we’ve got followers we’ve seen before from other places, such as last year’s Easter items: Chick, Narf, Mini Astroknight, Woodstock. Pranks this time are the Silly Streams, Egg Launcher, and Sneezing Powder. And in Miscellaneous, we have Hiking Shoes and a Marshmallow Roaster.

Some items from last month remain as well: in Powers, we still have Torch, Phantom, and Electrify; while in Costumes, there’s the Chomper, Red Heart, Clover Kid, Lilac Star, Wrestling Gear (boy and girl), and Prom King and Queen.

And if the billboard is any indicator, we’ll probably see the return of the pink bunny costume and pastel green dress in the coming weeks!

Store springs old classics for March

Hey Poptropicans, we’re in the beginning of a new month, which means another rotation of items at the store! And for March, the store has brought back some old favorite costumes and powers. Check ’em out:

Old-timers may recognize powers from the past like the Phantom*, Torch, and Hypno-Powder, while newer players may remember springtime outfits like the Rib Wrap, Navy Raglan, and Red Heart outfits, which were introduced last spring. Even suit-ups from the earliest days of the store are back, with classics like the Fairy Queen and four iterations of the Rock Star.

(*The Phantom is looking a little different from old times though… besides the disjointed appearance, you also can’t adjust your character’s opacity.)

However, more than half of all the current stock is for members only, including items that were originally available for everyone via credits. Still, some of the items which were rolled out last year for members are now available for all, such as the Mardi Gras Jester, Clover Kid, and Lilac Star outfits.

The Poptropica homepage has also been host to another little update, this one involving the login process. Now, clicking on the “Play for free” button in the middle will bring you straight to creating a new character.

To log in as usual, instead click the “log in” button in the corner (of the homepage or character creation)—which will pop up with this new login box.

On a more delicious, yet irrelevant-to-game-development note, the Creators also shared a pop quiz on the official blog to ask the all-important question: What’s the best Mardi Gras breakfast? Poptropicans have been casting their votes for pancakes or waffles in the blog comments—and maybe crepes, too?

Celebrating Valentine’s Day at lightning speed

Happy Valentine’s Day, Poptropicans! We hope you and your loved ones are having a great day. Today, we have some news that you’re sure to love (or like, at least). Let’s get started with a shocking store update.

The winner of Poptropica’s 2020 costume design contest (“Lightning Wielder” by Instagram user @bianca_donka) is finally in the game! Visit the store and get this electrifying costume for free, but hurry before it goes away in a flash.

The “Lightning Wielder” doesn’t come with any space bar actions, despite the ideas put forth by its designer. But the lightning arm does come with an animating dazzle!

Along with the “Lightning Wielder” costume, there are plenty of Valentine’s Day-themed goodies available for purchase in the store this month.

Make this Valentine’s Day special by going to the cinema and watching the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie. Speaking of Sonic, you can spot some billboards advertising his movie around Poptropica. Unlike normal island ads, this one doesn’t include any games, videos, or prizes. Clicking the billboard just directs you to the movie’s website.

An ad with no games to play or videos to watch seems kind of underwhelming. However, take a step back and you’ll notice that the game screen has been changed from the normal blue to a bird’s eye view of a city at night. Take a look:

Also, Frozen 2 ads have returned to advertise the film’s digital and home media release. Like the original ad, you have to watch a short video in order to win two prizes: the familiar Olaf Follower and the new Wind Spirit power.

To use the Wind Spirit power, equip the red leaf then press the spacebar to be lifted into the air by a flurry of leaves. Pretty neat!

Earlier this week, Blue Tooth took to social media to let people know that February 10 is National Pizza Day. 🍕 She posted a video of her Poptropican and her rabbit Dorf waiting for lunch at the diner on 24 Carrot Island, and mentioned that they were waiting for quite a while. The owners were probably preoccupied with the threat of global domination at the time…

Stylin’ and dreamin’

Hello, everybody! Gentle Dolphin here with news of recent Pop updates!

It may be the middle of the month, but we still want to highlight the January member gifts! This month, members are gifted six exclusive items: two outfits (Stylin’ Oufit and Cool Outfit), two pet accessories (Bling Glasses and Bling Collar), and two furniture items for your clubhouse (Cinema Lightbox and Classic Record Player).

This is definitely a cool member pack, but there are a couple small things I want to address. First, the Stylin’ Outfit looks incredibly similar to an outfit from Poptropica Worlds. I mean, just look at these two photos and try to tell me they’re not the same:

Second, the Pet Barn has been updated to include the Bling Glasses and Collar. Strange that two exclusive items are being sold in an in-game store, made even more so by the fact that they are marked members-only in said store.

Along with new member gifts, January also brought a store update! Like last month, the January update features many older items and costumes. That’s cool and all, but 11 of the 34 items are for members only.

What’s also unfortunate is that the prices of these items have gone up and I mean WAY UP! While most of the items are within the normal 250-350 credit range, a few of them are now worth up to 500 CREDITS!!! Yikes! Your dreams of owning that Mini Dr. Hare follower may seem impossible, but don’t give up hope! Speaking of dreams…

In case you missed it, January 13 was National Make Your Dreams Come True Day. Poptropica celebrated by sharing words of encouragement on social media along with an inspiring illustration from Blue Tooth.

You heard right!! Here’s a word of encouragement from the Poptropica Creators to you! No matter what it is that makes you happy, big or small, chase it until it’s yours!

Work hard! Take breaks! Learn from your mistakes! Be patient with yourself! Most of all, stay hydrated! Very important. WE’RE ROOTING FOR YOU!!

On the Instagram version of the post, several people have commented some dreams that they want to come true. One dream that a lot of people mentioned and agreed with was to bring back all of the old islands. Hopefully, that wish will come true soon…

Into the known: what December has in store

Hey Poptropicans, it’s Slanted Fish here to announce a dazzling new homepage graphic, a store update, and the next member gift! Let’s get started.

First, if you head on over to Poptropica, you’ll find a new image on the homepage featuring a host of hyped-up Poptropicans and animals, including an ostrich racer and broom-flying wizard, all on an otherworldly planet with the alien trees from the arcade!

Spectacular, huh? Who knows, maybe the Creators will make another wallpaper out of it…

Log in and you’ll see December’s monthly update laid in store, featuring familiar items like the Realms Builder, Back Lot Island Clapboard, and Hypnotic, as well as old holiday costumes like the Angel, Snow Fall, and Winter Blast PopGum (the latter two are for members only).

A few costumes are repeats from last month’s store update. Oddly, the “Pranks” and Followers” sections of the store have been wiped completely clean this time around.

But the best part is that prices have dropped significantly, even on the repeated costumes! While many items used to be in the 250–350 credits range, you can now snag many from the current stock for about 75–150 credits. Happy shopping!

And last but not least, the next item in the 12 Days of Member Gifts is here, and it’s Penguin Sled Riders to match the cute baby penguins that have popped up in the latest Home Island makeover! Awww.
