PHB Sneak Peeks: Unreleased Costumes, Quiz Game, & More

Hey Poptropicans, the PHB is back at it again with behind-the-scenes Poptropica findings! This post is made possible with the help of glitchers TechWizard and idk (formerly Hyper SW). Let’s begin.

First, from idk: unreleased app costumes! The costumes are: Mummy, Carnival Kid, Pirate, Parasailing, Creepy Turkey, Ring Leader, Bear Costume, Old Diving Suit, Zombie, and Scarecrow.ย Quite a few of these have not been seen in the game before. Others have been seen online. (*PHB reader Infinity App Nerd notes that the Mummy and Scarecrow are on the app.) Which ones do you like?

Among the files, this never-released Survival Merit Hat was also discovered. Notice the five symbols pertaining to the five episodes of Survival Island. Wonder what this could have been for!

Also, here’s a look at a Poptropica Quiz Game! Longtime PHB readers may remember when Codienย briefly covered some findings of the same game years ago, then thought to be a game coming soon – but at this point, it seems more like another idea lost to time.

Our picture supplier idk compiled a couple of albums full of images from the files for this game, which you can find here and here. Here are a few of the more interesting pictures:

Plus, a couple of extra now-visibleย pages from The Mystical Weapons of Arturusย onย Astro-Knights Island have also been discovered! These last two pages of the book, which are half-covered in-game, can now be seen in full.

Here we have the ideaย that worthiness of the weapons comes from great strength, valor, and… an affinity for animals, because the love would bring the warrior to new levels. Say what?ย The other page speaks of a wizard named Borzo, whose elixir could cure heart burn, but the King and Queen were not convinced that it was legendary enough. Also, a man named Klaudius tried to… well, it ends there. Strange stories.

This interestingย room was also found behind-the-scenes… what an aesthetic background.

But weird rooms seem to be the specialty of another glitcher: TechWizard. Let’s see what else is new.

Something else he discovered behind-the-scenes is a projectile test room. The contents are a cannon-like object, a non-functioning cannon object, and a projectile shooter that shoots green pellets. Pressing spacebar in this room allows you to shoot dots.ย Think it’s cooler than Tetris Landย from Tech’s last post?

PHB Sneak Peeks: Zomberry Mini-Games?

Hey Poptropicans, ready for a peek into what’s going on behind the curtains of Poptropica HQ?

Many of us haveย noticed that Poptropica has been so busy behind-the-scenes that they haven’t delivered muchย lately. Whatever big updatesย they’re working on, they’re not divulging โ€“ย we’reย barely getting any sneak peeks on the Daily Pop, and even Poptropica’s own Skinny Moon has mentioned she’d love to say more, but can’t reveal anything yet.

But thanks to a brief tip sent in by PHB readerย Hyper SW, we just might have some clue of what’s going on and what’s to come! This is the heads-up that wasย given to the PHB:

“A new game called Game Jam is coming soon! In the game you defend yourself from zomberries using different musical instruments. Due to legal matters, I’m going to keep this update short.”

zomberry2

Well, that’s interesting! Zomberry 2.0? Another sneak peek, this one from an anonymous PHC glitcher, is of another upcoming game called Zomberry Catapult:

zomberrycatapult

Despite the Zomberry Main Street scenery,ย we’re not sure if this is an island in itself โ€“ it looks like Poptropica is working on a series of mini-games to keep us entertained (as we await the next island!). You may remember a few Daily Pop sneak peeks from February where we saw zombie characters inย what appeared to be platformer games and other mini-games. They seem to be related:

What could all this mean? Will we get to play these Poptropica original games on Home Island? Will Zomberry Island be getting an update? Or will Poptropica release aย mobile app containing several these little games? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Stay popping, Poptropicans.

Behind the Scenes: Development Testing Rooms

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post by PHC glitcher TechWizard, here to share with us some pictures he grabbed behind-the-scenes, with commentary from Brave Tomato. Enjoy!)

What’s up Poptropicans? TechWizard here and.. wait, who is this clown?! Don’t worry, I’m just guest posting. Don’t get used to me and my charms. I’m here to discuss some inside info on Poptropica that will leave you saying “woah.” The method used here is a secret, so don’t ask Uncle Tech here to leak it.

Our first image is of a SUI (sound-updated island) Back Lot! The way you can tell is that not only does the screen appear to be bigger, but also, the menu icon is on the top right instead of the top left (as the classic islands have it formatted). We’ve also had hints way back when that other islands were about to get the same treatment, yet we haven’t heard anything since. Whether this island is being re-released sooner or later, it’s interesting to say the least.

Our next room is a multiplayer room with emote mechanics like the ones used in the mobile Poptropica app! In common rooms online, you’ve normally got 8 emotions (with four categories that picks one out of two emotions at random): proud, small cheer, cry, shock, frustrated, head-popping mad, laugh, and jump for joy).  The mobile version has only 6, however: three old (cry, head-popping mad, and laugh), and three new (faint, dance, and greet). How this would affect the future of emoting is up in the air, but only time can tell.

multiplayer room

This next room has some interesting dialogue referring to bugs. It seems like the room itself is a debug room, and one of the buttons leads to a halting crash. This might be one of the line of defenses for glitches, and the crash feature could very well be used in case of emergency. Who knows?

debug room

This next one has multiple NPCs, one capable of changing size. This was most likely for creating larger Poptropican models, like the gods, and a few brute characters such as the large Viking in Mystery of the Map, as well as the tinier ones like Mr. Silva and what the Minimizer store card does. Strangely enough, to do this, you’d have to click on the mohawked Poptropican. That’s… interesting.  This one can also test multiple dialogue options.

change size

This one I like to call “Tetris Land”. Not a lot is in here, besides the odd floor, space background, and three handsome Poptropicans. If you try to speak to the first of the three, he’ll say a line of dialogue, and the other two next to him say, “What he said.” The main purpose of the room, however, is to explore certain special abilities in the game.

special abilities

This one here is a sound testing room, and even the Afro Guy here serves as a test! There can be a lot of different types of grounds a Poptropican can walk and jump on, as well as object sounds, music, and even the rarer voice acting snippet. Seeing that this is a sound-testing area, this probably ensures that there isn’t glitchiness, sound skipping, or other issues. These kinds of rooms, therefore, would be perfect for this kind of quality testing.

Lastly, check out this cool item card I found! Psychedelic flavor PopGum โ€“ if only they had released this. Looks like it might bring more happiness to the world.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this peek behind closed doors. Now I’m off to stalk what you guys will say in the comments section!

Home Island, Sneak Peeks

PHB Sneak Peeks: Skydock and Christmas Stock

Hey folks, Cobalt here!

So, remember the sneak peeks we saw of Skydock Island?ย Some say it is just an extension of the Home Island, some say its just a brand new version of Home Island. Point is, there is a lot of discussion and mystery surrounding it. Hopefully today I can give you a moreย solidย answer, despite me sometimes beingย liquid. ๐Ÿ˜€ Anyway, on with the post…

Thanks for these insights goย to Entrippy and another anonymous ‘glitcher’ย from the PHC!

We’ve seen these sneak peeks before, some on the Daily Pop, and some on the PHB’s originalย Skydock post. But it doesn’t hurt to look at them again with new perspective! Let’s take a look:

In its full glory, thisย three-places-in-oneย is shaped as a pirate ship. It appears to be a small hub for all of the current buildings on Home Island. The weirdest thing about all of these are the Christmas decorations. Are they planning really, really ahead, or has development on this slowed down?

This is definitely Christmas themed, which I find really odd. Hate to be a Popspiracy theorist, but I definitely think they stopped working on this. These pictures are live as of 3/28/16. Though, there is more to it than Christmas stuff, which gives me hope this’ll happen with different seasons, too.

These are just a few of the descriptions up closeย โ€“ you can see the full pictures on the PHB’s original Skydock post. Hopefully you can get the main idea, though. Also, the picture at the top left has an elevator, and it’s a second platform. Pretty nifty stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve seen snow on Home Island before, but there’sย another feature that’s only shown up behind-the-scenes: the ability to throw snowballs! Kind of like Club Penguin. Now that’sย cool!

Anyway folks, that about wraps this post up. Hopefully we’ll see this update soon? Reporting off,

Edit 3/30/16: The Creators have announced March Madness voting ends 3/31/16! (That was kinda self explanatory, though.) That is tomorrow, make sure to vote and if you have vote some more!

More Monkeys, Bad Bunnies, Boardwalk Boy, & Loot Loaded

Hey guys! Spotted Dragon here with a few quick updates.

First off, Monkey Wrench Island is now available for iOS!

If you get stuck, be sure to check out ourย Monkey Wrench Island Guide.

Second up, Poptropica tweeted a gif of a character from Wimpy Boardwalk Island!

Obviously he’sย from Wimpy Boardwalk, but do you know exactly who the character is? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Third, they’ve also shared some earlyย conceptual workย from Shrink Ray Island. Apparently, air vents were going to be populated by evil dust bunnies!

Okay, this may just be me, but that actually looks really fun and cute. ๐Ÿ˜›

Lastly, after our discussionย post about the Daily Pop not being “daily” anymore, one more sneak peek has graced our presence! This character is loaded with loot, and we’re not sure yet what this could be. What do you think?

That’s all for now! Keep checking back for more updates! ๐Ÿ˜‰
