Before you update your Pop app…

A word of warning for would-be Poptropica app users. Tune in for upcoming island releases, fan art, and more! Let’s pop right in.

This week, the Pop Creators have been pushing for players to update their Poptropica mobile app, which recently got a major overhaul so that it now matches the computer version. That’s all well and good for the addition of newer features and islands, but what they won’t tell you is that they also deleted a bunch of old islands off the app.

The official blog included only a brief line about the cons of the changes: “Although the mobile appโ€™s update included some unpopular changes, we can now focus on bringing you a new and improved experience!” That doesn’t sound too promising about whether we’ll see those old islands (and complete sets for episodes) return anytime soon โ€” so before you update (if you do), just be sure you know what you’ll be missing.

However, the blog also brings some good news about other islands in the works. As hinted by recent store items, PoptropiCon Island, Ep. 2: Spoiler Alert will be returning later this month, for both desktop and mobile! (Catch the rereleased trailer, too.) Also, the final Dream Island winner, Secret of the Jade Scarab, is on its way for all players!

Here are this week’s fan art features from Poptropica’s Instagram stories, plus a Pop poll on “How do you play Poptropica?” According to voters, 84% prefer desktop while just 16% choose mobile. Hmm, so much for that mobile app upgrade/downgrade?

Also on the Creators’ Blog is a guest post from Young Rider, who shares their excitement in exploring the Grapple-Gift side quest and an adventure from the bygone era, Great Pumpkin Island featuring the Peanuts comic characters. This one’s a classic โ€” and not just on Pop!

That wraps up this update! Be sure to catch up on more below, including our recap of the recently released Blitz on the Fritz Side Quest, for which Poptropica just shared their own playthrough video and guide.

Pop on, Poptropicans!

Bosko or Baron, they’ll Bee there ๐Ÿ

Hey Poptropicans, buzz in for a sneak peek, special tips to know, and a mini review of the year!

The Pop Creators’ Blog recently revealed that the story of Goofball Island isn’t over โ€” a sequel side quest is on its way, and it involves this Bee Bot! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿค– The drawing might be dull in color, but could it turn out goofy?

What do you think this little critter could bee for? Whatever it is, stay tuned for more details about the upcoming adventure! No word yet on whether it will be for members or for all, but at least it’s nice to see this behind-the-scenes sketch.

Speaking of Goofball Island, the endings have been updated to include Bosko! Whether you pick a goofy, bland, or balanced outcome, our favorite furry monster will be there to crack his odd jokes. (Thanks to Incredible Flame for the tip!)

By the way, the Baron might’ve disappeared from the skies earlier this week, but you can still access her airship through your messages in the menu. Be sure to catch her Grapple-Pap gear while it’s here! (Thanks again to Incredible Flame for the tip!)

Last but not least, guest writer Invisible Ring is back with another post on the Creators’ Blog, bringing along a cameraman to report on the past year’s developments in Poptropica. From new islands to side quests, features, and multiplayer content, she notes that Poptropica met their promises for 2021, albeit with some mixed reviews in some areas.

On that note, keep an eye out for the PHB’s 2021 Rewind, coming out just before the new year! We’ll be taking an even deeper dive into this past year’s releases, both from the Creators and the fandom. To go even further, browse through our Pop Yearbook of past years in Poptropica.

See you at the PHB’s Grapple-Pap party this weekend, Poptropicans. Bee there or bee square! โ˜ƒ๏ธ ๐Ÿ

The Creators’ Blog also has a new guest post from Invisible Ring, comparing the two Dream Islands that came before Goofball: Arabian Nights (2014) and Fairytale (2021). In her commentary, she highlights their similarity in drawing inspiration from classic legends, as well as a few differences, such as genre, platform, and even medallion designs.

Crowning glories of characters in stories ๐Ÿ‘‘

Hey Poptropicans, pop in for the latest in Pop culture! We’ve got Pop stars, boredom busters, Mythology assumptions, and more.

The Pop-arazzi are backโ€”kind of. Poptropica recently put out a tweet comparing two celebs with Pop characters: SNL comedian Pete Davidson as Hades from Mythology and actor Timothรฉe Chalamet as Edgar the carnie from Monster Carnival. See any resemblance?

Over on the Pop Creators’ Blog, new guest writer Golden Crown (who has appeared on the PHB) shares some Poptropica boredom busters! Crown’s tips include winning at all the games, buying everything you can, looking for details (btw, get some good ones in the PHB’s Island Guides trivia), throwing a party (even playing tag!), and taking pictures.

Here on the PHB, we’ve got a list of 101 Boredom Busters you might enjoy as well, though many of them will apply only to the old islands. For more modern ideas, check out Golden Crown’s post! ๐Ÿ‘‘

Beyond dressing up on Poptropica, you can also give your character some flair through drawings! Poptropica’s latest Instagram stories feature some expressive Popsona designs, as well as a call to join the monthly costume contest, which runs until this Friday, November 19.

On TikTok, Poptropica has started a new series called “What your fave Poptropica island tells me about you.” First up: Mythology. If you love this island, you might also love everything else about ancient Greece, the Percy Jackson series, use scifi and fantasy as a form of escapism, and are super into art or a band kid โ€” “either way, you really relate to the burned-out gifted kid stereotype.” Rings true, or just a myth? ๐Ÿ˜œโšก๏ธ

TikTok on the clock and the content don’t stop ๐Ÿ•—๐Ÿฅธโœจ

Hey Poptropicans, tune in for costume calls, TikTok trends, future fun, Instagram imaginations, and mustachioed men. Let’s pop right in!

First up, November’s costume design contest is now taking entries! Share your submissions to Poptropica before November 19 at 8 pm EST, and it might be chosen for the Baron’s return in December.

That’s right, after her long stay all throughout Red October, she’s off to the skies again and, according to the Creators’ Blog, “taking some time away from Poptropica to spend some quality time with her friends and family.” Wait, she can leave Poptropica? And she and Ack aren’t lone wanderers? Wonder if we’ll get to meet the fam?

Anyway, for all the details of the contest, check out the Creators’ Blog!

Next up, Poptropica’s been popping off with the TikToks! The release of Mission Atlantis on Haxe came with a soundbite from The Office, and more recently, here’s one with a noseless human face juxtaposed on a Poptropican zipping through 24 Carrot (a cheat of a speedrun, though):

Not only that, but the Creators’ Blog featured several TikToks from Poptropica fans. (You can catch the first round over here.) There’s something for everyone: a cosplay of Octavian for the Occy cult, getting voted off Reality TV for the rage players, randomized Popsonas with origin stories for the creatives, Percy Jackson fans vs Mythology Island players for the truly knowledged, and scenes from various islands for the nostalgic ones. Watch them all on the Creators’ Blog!

Poptropica’s post of TikTok features also included some news on upcoming releases.

While Mission Atlantis and a handful of other old islands are back on Haxe, only their first episodes are available at the moment. However, we now have assurance that several of them will be getting their next episodes! As for who, what, and when… that remains to be seen.

Survival Island is one of the episodic islands that only has its first episode up on Haxe. Episodes came out for members first, then later released for all.

We also get a reminder that Goofball Island is currently in the works, though no new info is offered. But in case you missed it from last month, the PHB was able to get an inside scoop on this upcoming island from the fan designer himself, Thirsty Flame! Catch our Inside look at Dream Island winner: Goofball Island.

Also, here’s the latest batch of Poptropica’s Instagram stories. In addition to featuring their own TikTok, they also shared some fun fan art, including Smart Spinner’s “how not to wear a mask” (with nose!).

Also earlier this week on the Pop Creators’ Blog, we have a new guest blogger who, despite his name and writing style, refers to himself as “your old man.” Young Rider shares tons of pics from his “penthouse clubhouse,” as well as erratic doodles and even a Bitmoji.

After introducing us to his many pet followers, Rider gets to theorizing what might’ve happened to El Mustachio Grande since his arrest on Wild West Island way back in 2011. Ten years later, Rider suspects the hairy bandit might be vowing for revenge, eating a sad turducken, hijacking a flight to Home Island, or even, maybe, living as a kind scientist on Super Villain Island. What do you think?

That wraps up this post! Be sure to catch the waves below for news of the re-released Mission Atlantis as well as all the Atlantis-themed goods in the store. Sea you later, Poptropicans!
