Daily Pop, PoptropiCon Island

Cosplay at Poptropi-Con, the next frontier!

Hey everyone! Remember my last post about how the next island will probably have a city theme (possibly based on San Francisco due to the bridge and palm trees)? Well, there’s more…

Thanks to some clever connections by PHB authors and readers, we may have even more information about this new island, which appears to involve some sort of Poptropica convention where Poptropicans have taken up cosplay (costume play)! Check out these recent Daily Pops showing off some pretty good (and pretty bad) Poptropica cosplays of characters from various islands!

conDailyPops

This may be inspired by the yearly San Diego Comic Con, which takes place in, you guessed it, San Diego. It is a giant convention for everything comics, featuring comic books, toys, movie announcements, and some legendary cosplay.

For those unaware, cosplay (short for costume play) is when a fan dresses up as their favorite character. Of course, this could be really good, or really, really bad…

So we have cosplay and a city setting probably in southern California — what could this mean? As predicted by others, I am going to say this will concern some sort of (San Francisco?) Poptropica Convention. But that doesn’t have a good ring to it! How about the Poptropi-Con? Much better!

And here we have a Daily Pop sneak peek of the actual convention center which is sporting some nice “con” signs. This image serves as final confirmation that the new island is indeed some sort of Poptropica Convention (Poptropi-Con?).

Daily Pop, Survival Island

Fishing Suit now in the Store, and some new city settings!

Hey everyone, after a (not so short) hiatus, I finally have finals, tests, projects, etc. out of the way and can be active in the community again!

As previewed by HP in a post earlier this week (along with many other awesome things – so check it out if you haven’t), the new Fishing Suit has been (officially) released for Survival – Episode 2. It is currently free in the Store for everyone, so make sure to go claim yours! (The Fishing Suit can also be found on a tree trunk in Episode 2.)

As always, there have been some interesting new Daily Pops. Sometimes these Daily Pops can give away a lot about upcoming islands. They helped us figure out that  “Mall” (Night Watch), “Movie” (Back Lot), “Monster” (Monster Carnival), and “Winter” (Survival) islands were all being prepared for release, and now it appears that the next island will have a city theme to it!

As you can see, the Portable Toilets, Pizza Pocket Truck, and vending machines, along with all the background imagery gives away that the creators are working on a new city themed project! What city, you may ask? I predict it will be San Francisco, or a city based on San Francisco. The second image gives it all away. In the background, behind the pizza truck we see a bay with a bridge over it. This bridge might just be San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge!

So what do you think? Are you excited for a new San Francisco-based island? What do you think the plot could be about? Share your ideas in the usual place below!

Glitches, Survival Island

Quick Survival Ep. 3 glitch alerts & fixes

Hi Gs,

There are a couple of glitches concerning Survival: Episode 3 that I wanted to mention, mainly because they’re preventing people from finishing the island…

The first glitch is the lemon glitch, and it occurs when you break the lemon box onto the ground. You won’t be able to click on the lemon and obtain it no matter what. To fix this, go to another scene, such as the nearby ad street, then come back. It will have reset, and you can pick up the lemon.

The second is a little harder to fix — it happens when you try to assemble the radio while on the radio tower scene. When you do, the wires that are necessary to fix it don’t show up. Try logging out and back in, then trying to assemble it on a different scene. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to restart the episode and assemble the radio in a different area than the radio tower.

If you have any more game-breaking glitches, share them with us in the comments. You can also find the Survival: Episode 3 guide here on the PHB. Hope this helps!

Monster Carnival Island, The Missing Link

The Missing Link: Monster Adventure

Hi Gs,

Am I back to talk about Monster Carnival? Not quite. I’m here to talk about an explanation to a mystery about Monster Carnival – but it goes deeper than just that.

strangeMonsterAdventureThe image above was found inside the “gameplay” file for Poptropica – back in the day, they used to keep a lot in that file, including unreleased material. First of all, acknowlegde that the “Monster” text used in the logo is the same font used in the Fact Monster logo. That’s where things start to get interesting…

monsterA1As some of you may recollect, there was a plethora of unreleased monster costumes that were leaked quite a long time ago. This was before the store, and so many people believed that they were for the forgotten Monster Carnival island (read the full story here). This may not have been the case. View the image below — see the (uncanny) resemblance between the last two images?

monsterA2There were obviously plans with Fact Monster in the primary years of Poptropica — remember the Fact Monster bubbles in Time Tangled Island, the island which was supposed to be followed by Monster Carnival island? And did you notice that the bubbles were taken out in the updated version? Almost like covering up tracks…

monsterA3The last point is the creator. Fact Monster is the only creator not to be found in an island — and he’s a real creator with a real life personnel, Jess M. Brallier. What I’m getting at is that there might have been a Fact Monster character in an island, and they had just never released the island, thus never releasing the character. The special prefix “Fact Monster” is owned by a number of accounts, mainly “dummy1063“, previously thought to be the creator’s account, but later found to be owned by PHB viewer, Pixel. The fact (no pun intended) that Fact Monster is a prefix proves that there were once plans for a Fact Monster character… And by the way, the Fact Monster prefix shows up in friends, so that means it passes through a special name filter for only creator accounts.

monsterA4“Monster Adventure” may have been a preliminary Monster Carnival, but what if Monster Adventure was an island or mini-quest based around Fact Monster? The leaked monster outfits have the likeness of Fact Monster (actually, one of the costumes is an exact replica), and the logo uses the same font that the Fact Monster uses.  This still doesn’t solve the mystery, but it sure makes the answer a lot brighter. What do you think? Tell me in the comments. 🙂

Advertisements, Back Lot Island

Dork Diaries 7 ad: Back Lot bonuses?

Hey Poptropicans! If you like the Dork Diaries series by Rachel Renee Russell, check out the new ad for book 7 (Tales From a Not-So-Glam TV Star) on Main Street of Poptropolis Games. 😀

dork diaries 7

Inside, you can add Nikki Maxwell as your friend (her username is npc:nikkimaxwell), as well as Costumize her or chat with her (she’ll then advertise the Fab TV Star costume you can pick up on the top floor). You can also click to read an excerpt from the book, play a quiz game, watch a video, Costumize two other girls, and find allusions to “Nikki” kissing “Brandon” (er… awkward).

UPDATE: As Super Nicey noted in the comments, the Fab TV Star costume is not only different between genders, but both versions contain a handheld item from Back Lot Island that was originally for members only! For girls, it’s the Clapboard, and for boys, it’s the Movie Camera from the bonus quest.

UPDATE #2: The NPC (non-player character) for Nikki Maxwell can also be found in common rooms such as the Soda Pop Shop on Early Poptropica! (Thanks to KeithSammut for the picture.)

Anyway, enjoy the ad! Also, if you’re a member, be sure to play the newly-released Survival: Episode 3 this weekend, and if you’re a non-member, Survival: Episode 2 just came out as well. If you need help, check out the PHB’s walkthrough. Have fun! 😀
