Island Flash-back: Game Show & Mocktropica ๐Ÿ’ป

It’s the end of the year, and we have two islands to mark it (totally not because I got so lost in the holidays that I forgot to make November’s post!). I’ll be highlighting both islands selected for the past couple months, which are…

Game Show & Mocktropica!!

While not often listed among the most favorite classic islands, many fans have good memories of Game Show Island, and it has a particularly unique design and setting! It takes the futuristic aspects of Astro-Knights and the apocalyptic ones of Steamworks, and fuses them together in an A.I.-takes-over-humanity story. Also includes the fun and games style of Reality TV, this time with more danger!

More Robots: Itโ€™s like theyโ€™ve taken over or something.

But unlike Sprocket and Merlin, these robots are not so friendly, all culminating to an epic battle against the evil supercomputer Holmes… who you defeat with a flash drive. Ahem. Definitely a brains-over-brawn island!

Deep Thought: Putting processing power to good use.

All jokes aside, this island does have a lot of fun puzzles, at times requiring players to test their real-world knowledge with fun facts! It also features several IRL locations, including Istanbul, Miami, and Buenos Aires.

Operating System: When technology meets talent, anything is possible.

For our second and final feature, Mocktropica Island is a special one that is not remembered so much for storytelling, worldbuilding, or puzzles, but for its humor that pokes fun at the game itself, and all the negative directions the game and its developers could turn… some of which are hitting a little too close to home now.

Also, the theme music is severely underrated.

Strap In: Concussion prevention starts with sensible headgear.

Mocktropica is definitely a cult classic. But will the devs ever re-release an island that would be even more self-deprecating now (especially considering the references to former employees)? Only time will tell. And let’s not forget the official Mega Fighting Bots website!

Letโ€™s remind the Pop Creators why these islands became so memorable, and why the efforts that went to create them should not go to waste. Encourage them to preserve their past stories and their potential!

Until next year!

Searching for Bee Bot and Rainbow Puppy ๐ŸŒˆ

Hey Poptropicans! We’ve got another side quest sneak peek, costume winner, activities away from screentime, a Crazy Club tribute, and cute criminals in the Pop universe. Let’s get started!

Last week, we got news of an upcoming side quest sequel for Goofball Island along with a sneak peek of a mechanical bee. Now, Bee Bot is back on our screens and colored in greens! Friend or foe, we don’t know.

We also have word on the winner of December’s costume contest: Rainbow Puppy by Hamburger Hamburger! This colorful creation will be available for free at the Baron’s when the ship arrives in early January.

Plus, check out all the other fun costume creations in this roundup reel:

For the winter break season, the Pop Creators’ Blog also shared some printable activity sheets, including this new word search puzzle:

They also shared some coloring pages of playing in snow, like last year. You can print them out or download them to color in digitally!

In the mood for something wilder? See if you can match the energy at the Crazy Club on Goofball Island, as in this short vid from Poptropica:

Also on Poptropica’s Instagram are a couple of new stories featuring fan art of villains at their cutest. Even the evil have their sweet spots!

Plus, Pop also posted a throwback of the Snowpocalypse mini game from years past โ€” could this be a hint for its return this snowy season?

That’s a wrap for this update! Hope you’re enjoying the Grapple-Pap season on Pop with the Grapple-Gift Side Quest and decking yourself and your halls with Christmas gear. Cheers! ๐Ÿ˜„โœŒ๏ธ

Bosko or Baron, they’ll Bee there ๐Ÿ

Hey Poptropicans, buzz in for a sneak peek, special tips to know, and a mini review of the year!

The Pop Creators’ Blog recently revealed that the story of Goofball Island isn’t over โ€” a sequel side quest is on its way, and it involves this Bee Bot! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿค– The drawing might be dull in color, but could it turn out goofy?

What do you think this little critter could bee for? Whatever it is, stay tuned for more details about the upcoming adventure! No word yet on whether it will be for members or for all, but at least it’s nice to see this behind-the-scenes sketch.

Speaking of Goofball Island, the endings have been updated to include Bosko! Whether you pick a goofy, bland, or balanced outcome, our favorite furry monster will be there to crack his odd jokes. (Thanks to Incredible Flame for the tip!)

By the way, the Baron might’ve disappeared from the skies earlier this week, but you can still access her airship through your messages in the menu. Be sure to catch her Grapple-Pap gear while it’s here! (Thanks again to Incredible Flame for the tip!)

Last but not least, guest writer Invisible Ring is back with another post on the Creators’ Blog, bringing along a cameraman to report on the past year’s developments in Poptropica. From new islands to side quests, features, and multiplayer content, she notes that Poptropica met their promises for 2021, albeit with some mixed reviews in some areas.

On that note, keep an eye out for the PHB’s 2021 Rewind, coming out just before the new year! We’ll be taking an even deeper dive into this past year’s releases, both from the Creators and the fandom. To go even further, browse through our Pop Yearbook of past years in Poptropica.

See you at the PHB’s Grapple-Pap party this weekend, Poptropicans. Bee there or bee square! โ˜ƒ๏ธ ๐Ÿ

The Members’ Lair of Thieves ๐Ÿฅท๐Ÿซ

Howdy Poptropicans, it’s LJ here.

Let’s start with the most exciting news of the day. Remember that question mark on the Haxe map yesterday? It’s now been replaced by Arabian Nights, Episode 2: Lair of Thieves!

It took over a year since we got the first episode, but hey, better late than never right? As of now, it’s exclusive to members only, but hopefully soon it’ll be available for all players.

In other in-game news, members have been gifted with another wintery item as part of the 12 Days of Member Gifts: a snowflake costume, and it’s different from last year’s. โ„๏ธ How n-ice.

Onto Poptropica’s social media presence, the creators’ Instagram story showcases more artwork by fans (including a couple pieces by me). Show these artists some love. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Also on Instagram, the creators shared this funny video pointing out the toxic traits of some of Poptropica’s most prominent villains. Kidnapping seems to be a common theme… not cool. Don’t kidnap people.

Lastly, this short video (first seen on TikTok) was posted over on Poptropica’s YouTube channel and actually evokes some serious nostalgia with going to the computer lab to play Poptropica and all. Anybody else’s computer lab look like this in elementary school?

Welp, that’s what’s popping for now. Keep reading to stay up to date on all things Poptropica and don’t forget to participate in Community Creations this month. Talk to you guys in the next one! Pop on!

Goofball goodies for all the goonies ๐Ÿคช

Hey Poptropicans, get ready for more Goofball spirit!

The Poptropica Creators released their own official guides for Goofball Island this past week, both a written walkthrough and a video (below). But if you can’t get enough, the PHB’s also got our own Goofball Island Guide right here, with fun facts you may have missed! โœจ

Flying in with Mary Poppins’ “winds in the east,” Poptropica also released a short on TikTok and YouTube to hype up the latest island:

And there’s more on Pop’s TikTok! This new clip pairs the idea of Poptropica โ€œback in the dayโ€ with a caption that claims theyโ€™re โ€œstill releasing new (and old!) islands.โ€ Soooโ€ฆ are more old islands on the horizon? Time will tell.

@poptropicacreator

Back in the day? NAH. Poptropica is still releasing new (and old!) islands on a regular basis!! #nostalgia #throwback #poptropica #kidsoftiktok

โ™ฌ original sound – teqfla

Also on TikTok is a clip celebrating the weird physics of Poptropica parkour, paired with screaming from a scene from The Office. Now thatโ€™s some Pop core.

@poptropicacreator

you wonโ€™t be able to unhear the โ€œPARKOURโ€ every time you run in Poptropica after this #AmazonMusicJingleBellTok #gamingclips #nostalgia #gamersbelike

โ™ฌ original sound – Patty b

There are more Goofball goodies coming from the fandom! The Creatorsโ€™ Blog featured several pieces of fan art inspired by the new island. Goes great with this monthโ€™s theme for the PHBโ€™s Community Creations, which isโ€”you guessed itโ€”Goofball!

Beyond Goofball, Poptropicans’ fan art lately also features classic characters like Ringmaster Raven and Dr. Hare. Check out some recent ones from Poptropica’s Instagram stories:

And that’s a wrap for this goof-filled update! In case you missed it, catch the PHB’s review of Goofball Island here. Keep on popping on! โœŒ๏ธ
