To Poptropica, From Earth ๐ŸŒŽ Part 1: Cobalt

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by HPuterpop. Enjoy!

Hi Gs (guys, gals, and of course my lovely nonbinary folk),

Itโ€™s been a while! Longtime readers of the PHB may recognize me, but for those who donโ€™t, Iโ€™m HPuterpop, a former PHB staff writer. Recently, I had the chance to meet up IRL with two dear friends from the Poptropica community, and wanted to share those special experiences with you all. Without further ado, letโ€™s jump into the first of two parts!

I had known them by many names throughout our 10 years of friendship โ€” Spencaey, Captain Spencer, Cobalt, Koi. While our friendship began in the Poptropica community (including blogging together on the PHB), behind our screennames, I had come to know them as simply Spencer, one of my best friends.

One Friday evening, on April 14, 2023, the stars finally aligned for us to meet. I was waiting in my car to pick them up at the Greenville-Spartanburg airport, and the minutes leading up to our meeting felt like hours. โ€œWhy does it always take so long to get off a flight?โ€ I thought to myself. I watched the countless people pour out of the airport, scanning each individual in hopes of seeing my friend.

Finally, after what felt like forever, they appeared through the airport doors. I jumped out of my car and gave them the biggest hug. It was a hug 10 years overdue. The feeling was extraordinary: after being so used to seeing someone on a screen, once you see them in real life, your brain gets confused and there is an indescribable phenomenon of lucid dissociation (but not in a negative way).

This was the person who, for so many years, I wished had lived closer to me. My best friend, the one who knew me better than anyone else. I finally got to see how they were in person. How does Spencer act in public? How do they walk? How do they smell (not bad, FYI)?

After an excellent Mexican dinner, we ventured to where we would be staying. My friend had opened her beautiful and eclectic home for me to use for a photoshoot for my up-and-coming clothing brand, which Iโ€™d been working on for around four years.

The house was a treasure trove of sacred geometry, fantastical trinkets, and books about spirituality and existence. A former floral shop, her property had four separate buildings, multiple stories, nooks, and crannies, and two huge terrariums in the main foyer. Every single square inch of this mythical abode was utilized in the most awe-inspiring way. โ€œThis place is magical,โ€ Spencer kept saying as we explored.

The next day was the photoshoot. I had friends far and wide coming together to participate, and it couldnโ€™t have gone smoother than it did.

Afterwards, me and Spence were standing in front of a large mirror in the foyer, and I had a sudden epiphany. This fantastical place I had found myself in, surrounded by my closest friends from diverse backgrounds, was a mirror of my past life on the PHB and my desires as a kid. The floral shop felt like a location that you might have found in Poptropica.

I looked in the mirror, with my red beard and goofy smile, and all of a sudden recognized an echo of the past โ€” I had unintentionally turned into my Poptropican, Meridian Sinker, as he was all those years ago. Spencer, similarly, had matured into his character, Cobalt.

We were still the same, only now in 4K resolution. It was a metaphysical, cosmic feeling.

Come back tomorrow for Part 2, where Iโ€™ll share about meeting another Poptropican friend, Pixel, and give an update on Poptropica: Legends!

Invisible Ring’s Theatrical Previews ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible Ring. Enjoy!

Silver Screen: It’s one of our favorite famous monsters of filmland.

You may know that previews are the commercials that come right before a movie in the cinema. Guess what? My long-awaited Poptropica fan movie โ€œPirates, Camera, Action!โ€ is almost here! And what is a movie premiere without its annoyingly long list of ads and trailers?

โ€ฆYes, for this guest post, I’m showcasing every Poptropica commercial Iโ€™ve made. But although the list is unbearably long, I doubt youโ€™ll think the ads themselves are unbearable. These commercials have all been made with fun and quality in mind.

As for my pirate movie, stay tuned, for soon, it will premiere right here on the PHB! Until then, get some milk to drink and enjoy the previews…

Episode Seventeen: A Friend?

Clumsy Bird, Icy Stone, and Jazzy Hawk were terrified.

It wasnโ€™t the kind of terror they had felt previously โ€” when the play got crashed by an apocalypse, when they got stuck on Time Tangled, and when they had been taken from their balloon and thrown in prison โ€” it was nothing, NOTHING compared to the horror that they had just witnessed.

After days and days of restless and dangerous searching, they had found Toothpick. Except it wasnโ€™t Toothpick. He was working for the bad guys, he wasnโ€™t fidgeting at all, there was no emotion in his eyes, and he was wearing a suit, for crying out loud! (This was particularly odd, because the three friends were used to see him in a casual hoodie.)

But nevertheless, there was no mistaking that IT WAS TOOTHPICK. He stared at them coldly.

Toothpick

No. I donโ€™t know you! Behave yourselves.

Pick, butโ€” butโ€”

Episode Sixteen: Blueberries… AGAIN

The friends were coming closer to the wall, determined that nothing could go wrong, nothing at all.

Unfortunately things were going to go wrong. Things were going to go as wrong as they tended to do with all of Poptropica amidst an apocalypse.

Agent Thorn, shaken by the recent discovery of who her boss REALLY was, was walking down a flight of stairs when she glanced out a small window. The window had a perfect view of the hot air balloon coming ever closer to the wall. Three people were visible on the balloon and Thorn knew at once who those three people were. And she knew at once what she had to do.

It was kinda fun to be the bad guy, she had to admit, even though she should be focusing on her main goal.

She ran down the stairs and alerted the wall guards on her walkie-talkie.

Thorn

Three persons aboard a hot air balloon, heading towards the wall. Capture unharmed and under no circumstances are you to zombie-fy them, copy?

Guard (from walkie)

Copy that, Thorn. Capture, unharmed, and un-zombied. Where do we bring them?

Thorn

Just put them in one of the cells when you’re done!

Guard (from walkie)

Copy that.

Thorn walked quickly down the stairs. Part of her hoped that the three would get awayโ€ฆ but she knew what had to be done. And if she couldnโ€™t save them, she thought as she reached an elevator and ran inside, she might as well get a front seat for it.

Out on the blimp, the three friends were nearly at the wall, determined to save Toothpick.

Poptropica Activity Books of Fun โœ๏ธโœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ”Ž

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Invisible Ring. Enjoy!

Did you ever notice how many activities were scattered across the Poptropica Help Blog and the *cough*… “late” Poptropica Creatorsโ€™ Blog? I thought that maybe someone should gather all those activities up into one spot so it could be more convenient to findโ€ฆ so I did.

First up, the Ultimate Activity Book: compiling not only the Poptropica activities and coloring pages, but also some additional coloring pages to honor the sponsored islands. BONUS: Lots of revived Poptropica activities and custom-made goodies in there, made by yours truly!

Next, I gathered up every Poptropica cut-out I could find, both here and on the Creatorsโ€™ Blog, and put them together into a complete Crafts & Cut-outs collection. (See also: The PHB’s DIY Paper Crafts collection!)

And last but not least, it is my duty as the first person to have saved all the comics from the old sponsored islands of Poptropica to share them with all of you in this Scavenger’s Comic Book!

…But am I a scavenger, merely digging up activities that are already dug up? Am I a mere plagiarist stealing activities everywhere, putting them into books and calling them my own?

Gosh, no! It may look like that, but that’s not what I’m doing at all! I say that these are my books; not in the sense that I came up with everything in the books (I did come up with a few things, though), but in the sense that I worked so hard putting these books together for everyone to enjoy at no extra charge.ย

Whatever activities I got from other websites are free downloadable PDFs in which I have cited and included their web links, and whatever activities I found by way of Google are those I checked to be sure they are royalty-free. For I do not intend to steal; I intend to share.

This is a non-profit project only meant to spread some fun for all those who are looking for it! And if that’s you, then look no further than these three free downloadable (and printable) books to share with your friends and family, compliments of Invisible Ring. Enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed thisย guest postย by Invisible Ring. If you did, you might also enjoy another print-out project of hers, Bringing Mighty Action Force to life.
