Pop Petition: Bring back early access tickets

Hey Poptropicans, this is a guest post by Silver ShellEnjoy!

Hi Poptropicans! Welcome to another Pop Petition! I’m talking about early access tickets today. Let’s get into it!

So back in the day, when new islands were released, you could buy these early access tickets from the store, which allowed you to access islands a month or so before it was released to the public.

Nowadays, the latest Dream Islands (Goofball and Fairytale) are obviously for everyone to play, but every time an old island gets converted, it’s for members only. Not only that, but it seems to stay that way for a long while.

Take Mission Atlantis for example. Episode 1 was brought back two months ago, but it’s still reserved for members only. I don’t have a problem with stuff being members only because Poptropica needs the money, but for this long? That’s a bit disappointing.

Early access cards existed before membership came to Poptropica — so islands during the early access period were available to anyone who chose to buy the ticket from the store with their credits.

However, now that membership exists, it would look a bit different if they were to return. Islands could have an early access period for members, but non-members could also get a chance to play new islands during that time by getting the ticket, which would have to be pretty expensive. At least if players are paying by credits, it’s a lot more accessible to most kids than a real life credit card for membership!

Well, that’s my idea. Thanks for reading!

PHB Membership Giveaway: January 2022

Hey Poptropicans, we’re approaching the end of the month, which means it’s time to announce another lucky Poptropican to win our monthly membership giveaway! 🎁

Congratulations, Chilly Ice — your new membership status allows you access to some exclusive island adventures, including Arabian Nights, Ep. 2: Lair of Thieves and PoptropiCon, Ep. 2: Spoiler Alert!

If you’re not a member, you still have the chance (or many chances, in fact): the PHB is hosting a giveaway every month, and it’s easy to enter! Just comment on the Free Poptropica Membership page and leave at least two other comments around the PHB within the month to be entered into that month’s giveaway.

We’ll announce a winner sometime in the final week of each month. If you don’t win, you can always try again for the next month! Full details »

Congrats again to Chilly Ice, and as always, keep on popping on! 🧊

PoptropiCon Island

PoptropiCon, Ep. 2: for members and mobile

Pop drop alert: PoptropiCon Island, Ep. 2 is back on the map!

Members can play the latest episode, “Spoiler Alert,” on both desktop and mobile (though be warned of islands you’ll lose if you update your app). In fact, it came a day early, as the Creators “just couldn’t wait”!

Whether it’s your first time heading inside the convention or you’ve been around the block, be sure to take our handy PoptropiCon Island Guide with you so you can bring on your best Mighty Action Force game.

In other news, January 25 was Opposite Day in the US, an occasion to celebrate doing things differently. The Creators’ Blog shared a familiar Poptropica example: the contrast between Dullsville and Goofside on Goofball Island. As for us on the PHB, we’ll throw in another one: our beloved Dr. Beev as a foil to Dr. Hare. Can you think of others?

As Chilly Shadow mentioned in the Creators’ Blog post comments, it sure would’ve been fun to celebrate the spirit of Opposite Day by granting memberships to non-members!

But, while non-members may be missing out on the new PoptropiCon episode, you don’t have to miss out on your chance at one by joining the PHB’s monthly membership giveaways. All it takes is a few comments!

Anyway, that’s a wrap for now. Poptropicarry on, Poptropicans!
