Contests

Mehehehehe….

You remember entering a strange pumpkin patch days ago, but as you continue to take steps further, you begin to get lost, caught up by the wonders that now capture your attention. What started as a mere field has now grown abundantly, and with every passing corner you see more and more pumpkins growing, an overgrowth of vines sprouting and spilling in all directions. You have no idea where you are anymore and the maze of foliage blending with the large fruits only draw you in closer and closer, until…

A twig snaps. You turn, but there is no one there, only the empty wind howling eerily and blowing in your face. However, the scene has now changed. You find yourself standing in front of a lone dead tree, with a parcel sitting beside it. Tearing it open, you discover a selection of some of the best “pumpkins” you came across on your journey, shivers running down your spine as you think of how chillingly awesome they all are.

These pumpkins, of course, are your entries to the PHB’s Third Annual Halloween Contest! There were LOTS of awesome contributions to the patch, but I’ve decided to highlight one from each category:

DRAWING
Trick or Treat (Obiwan2324)

COLLAGE
Halloween Mashup (Angry Wing)

COSTUMES

Vampire Goth Girl (Invisible Bee)

  • Hair-Vampire Girl 1 (or any long hair), with the girl in the green toga in herc’s hero hut, mythology island’s makeup/hair thing
  • Mouth-Girl on main street, Counterfeit Island, with the blue jacket/white skirt
  • Top-Vampire Girl 3 (or any black shirt)
  • Belt/Skirt-Goth girl in the rumor mill, Astro Knights Island
  • If you want you can carry the scythe from the end of haunted house or wear the spy island medallion. If you have followers (spook pack) you can use one of those too, or the phantom effect.
Fiendish Knight (Machine Lord)
  • Put on the knight armor from the guards on Astro-Knights. Leave the helmet off.
  • Then put on the devil horns from the monster in the Poptropica Store.
  • Go to Spy Island to get bald hair.
  • Put on the yellow eyes from the zombie costume on Haunted House. Don’t forget to get a black cape from there! Oh, and use the same pointy teeth from the costume above.
  • For a hand item, you could use the scythe, but I prefer to use the Lantern from the glitch on Cryptids Island.

JOKES

The Robot Shuffle (Striped Grape)

(Golden Rider)
What is a sea monster’s favorite snack?

Fish and ships.

POETRY

Haiku (Spotted Panda)
I stand in the dark.
Ghouls, devils, zombies, and me,
Alone in the dark.

Acrostic (Lewis)

Haunted creatures roam every place in sight
All Poptropicans dress up for the night
Little kids hunt for treats throughout the neighborhood
Lets not let Halloween be in Dr Hare’s control
On top of all that, just think of what would happen
We gotta watch out for Crawfish the captain
Even Black Widow as scary as she can be,might ruin Halloween for you+me
Evil Binary Bard might steal all the candy in town
Now’s time to watch out for those villians and make them feel like the clownsAnd last but not least… SCARY STORIES. This seemed to be the most popular one, and there were many, many excellent pieces of writing, all of which are probably too long to paste into this post. So instead, you can go find them in the comments! ^^

(Hint: Ctrl + F on Windows or Command + F for Mac to search for text on an internet webpage) Note that some stories are split into parts, so they will be on more than one comment.

Recommendations:

  • The Flame’s Place: by Zany Dragon
  • Dare You: by All Hallow’s Brave Tomato (with pictures!)
  • Midnight of Terror: by Clean Tornado
  • Galaxy Poptropica: by Comical Joker

Very impressive work everyone! Thank you to all those who contributed something to the first ever PHB Pumpkin Patch, and those of you who appreciated their works as well!

Everyday I’m shufflin’

Party rock is in Poptropica headquarters as well! To celebrate the launch of Poptropica: The Official Guide, the Poptropica guidebook, the Creators threw together an awesome Poptro-Party at their place, and it looked something like this:

And wait a minute, is that… Poptropica CAKE?! O: Looks AWESOME.

*OM NOM NOM NOM NOM*

(Somewhere in Poptropica’s base, Captain Crawfish lets out a sigh of relief. “Looks like my distraction worked…”)

But you know what they say, “every day is a party when you play Poptropica”! Now go get him!

(A mob runs after Captain Crawfish as the real meal treat of the party panics, runs until he can run no more, and plummets into the sea.)

Reality is a lovely place… but Poptropica is a better one.

Following into the travels of Dr. Hare, last week we saw him posed in front of yet another ferris wheel. As our blog readers correctly predicted, he was touring London, England, with landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben behind him! And now, here’s another shot at the same location, but with a different angle, so you get a glimpse of St. Paul’s Cathedral as well.

It’s cool how Poptropica is showing how they can extend to be bigger than just something on your computer screen – the things you can learn from Poptropica are part of the real world too! And, you can apply real world things to Poptropica…

That’s Hermione, Harry Potter, and Ron in Poptropica form! As you may know, the PHB has its own Costumes page, a collection of images of creative costumes you can put on. Someone recently submitted this great picture, and if you’re interested in more, click here.

Also, two Poptropica Creators’ names were recently discovered and added to our database. They are Nate Tufts, Illustrator/Designer working for Poptropica (see his blog) and Nasan Hardcastle, creates and designs artwork for Poptropica.com (see his blog).

On a final note, as I mentioned before, I may have less time to blog here since high school has started, so although you may see less frequent posts from me, I hope the rest of the authors will continue to bring you guys the news in a timely and awesome fashion. I will still be around to work behind the scenes to ensure the blog is updated well. 🙂

World domination: one step at a time

Where’s Waldo? …Oh, you meant Dr. Hare.

Dr. Hare is somewhere out there… and if you can locate and stop him before he conquers the globe, you will win a box of carrots*, courtesy of the 24 Carrot Factory. First he went to an amusement park in Utah – and with the ferris wheel in this snapshot, it looks like he’s still up for more games!

*not an actual prize

Where is he now?
edit: Some readers have suggested that this may be the London Eye!
