Hey Poptropicans!

If you’re an avid player of the Poptropica app, you may have already seen the Poptropica TV stand on Home Island. If you tap play, you’ll see a quick animation of dancing Zomberry zombies – which Poptropica also tweeted out a couple of weeks ago. (Thanks to Mad Apper for the tip and picture!)

Right now, it looks like this is only for the mobile app, but hopefully someday it’ll be brought to the online version as well.

Poptropica TV also promises to have new videos every week, a promise we’ll be checking back on, so stay tuned! The videos to come next are probably the ones on Poptropica’s YouTube channel, featuring a toon of Shark Guy and a Draw-My-Life of Gamer Guy. However, it’s been almost two months since these were announced, so who knows how long it’ll be before a new PopTV video! 😛

If you’ve been checking the Creators’ Blog, you probably noticed that Poptropica has recently flooded it with posts that offer cheats and walkthroughs for some of the more recent islands, presumably to bring some traffic to their blog. This master post lists all the links to their guide posts, but here they are below if you’d like to check them out:

They’ve answered some common questions about these island quests in these posts, and although the info is helpful and comes with clear screenshots, you won’t find complete walkthroughs. If that’s what you need, we have full walkthroughs for every island right here on the PHB! 😀

Just escaped: Dr. Hare, Skinny Moon, & more on the way

Hey Poptropicans! Poptropica’s been busy, and here’s the latest in what’s popping!

If you’re a member, you can now grab the Escapee Dr. Hare costume from the Store. Poptropica has hinted that Dr. Hare will be making an appearance soon – perhaps in the upcoming Escape From Pelican Rock? In any case, I’m currently wearing parts of the costume to get hyped for EFPR Island!

Non-members, not to worry – Poptropica plans to give away even more Escape From Pelican Rock gear on Thursday, which includes the K9 (police dog) we saw in this sneak peek! Everyone will be able to get this stuff. No specific date on EFPR’s release yet, but we do know it’s coming in December!

There’s something else going on this Thursday: Poptropica will be releasing a World Champions’ live map for Reality TV Island! Plus, they’ll be offering first-time finishers of Reality TV Island 200 credits (instead of the usual 150). Get your game on with the PHB’s Reality TV Island Guide. The map goes live at 3pm Eastern time tomorrow!

Also, Veteran’s Day has just passed us by – and Poptropica gave a shoutout to a Creator we haven’t heard about, Golden Boot, on social media! In addition to tweeting that he’d worked in military intel for 6 years, they also gave out a quote from him on the Poptropica Facebook page which reads:

I spent most of my time translating Spanish, but I was cross-trained as an Interrogator and Counter Intelligence Agent. I worked security at Olympic Village in ’02 under the Secret Service, and did stints in Nicaragua, Spain, Qatar, and Kuwait, and participated in the invasion of Iraq.

Good for you, Golden Boot! 🙂 Maybe we’ll hear more snippets of other Creators’ stories in the future?

Anticipating that some Poptropicans would have the day off, newly-revealed Creator Skinny Moon (who currently runs Poptropica’s Twitter) held another impromptu Poptropica party, this time in the Home Island common room at about 1pm Eastern time! Apparently, she was crushed in head-to-head Balloons but was victorious in Paint War.

Keep checking Poptropica’s Twitter (and the PHB’s, in our blog sidebar) for more of these spontaneous hangouts! In the meantime, the PHC is also a good place to hang out with Poptropicans. 😉

Happy Halloween, Poptropicans! It’s finally time to unveil the winners of this year’s PHB Halloween Competition, which came in two parts: costumes and Photo Booth. We’re celebrating our recent milestone of 20 million hits by choosing 20 winners; 10 for each portion. Here we go…

Part I: Costumes

Mirror, mirror on the wall; who’s the scariest of them all? Well, the PHB team enjoyed looking at the great number of ghastly garbs that dared to enter this hallowed competition, and we’ve finally narrowed it down to ten of this year’s best! These guys get the honor of being shown on the front page via this post, as well as having their costumes immortalized on the PHB’s Costumes page. Check ’em out:

Part II: Photo Booth

The Creators may have held their own Photo Booth Halloween challenge, but we were first – and we did promise to award memberships to the winners! 😉 Check out these spine-chilling spectacles created right in Home Island’s Photo Booth (with a bit of clever image editing in #2)!

If you are one of the Photo Booth winners, check your email for a message from the PHB regarding having your membership awarded to you. #1 gets a 6-month membership, #2 and #3 get a 3-month each, and #4-10 each get a 1-month! Might come in handy for the upcoming Escape from Pelican Rock Island. 😛

Hey Poptropicans! As Halloween draws near, so do the deadlines for the Halloween Photo Booth challenges going on over on Poptropica as well as here on the PHB – so enter while you can! 🎃🎃

The Creators are accepting entries (they’ve received thousands so far!) up until midnight Eastern time this Wednesday, October 28th (see this post for more info). For the PHB’s contests, we’ll be announcing our winners on Halloween (Saturday, October 31st) so you have until then to enter our costume and Photo Booth competition. Check out my Crawfish-nomming entry to the Creators’ contest!

Meanwhile on Main Streets (such as Home Island, where the Photo Booth is located), there’s an ad for the Peanuts Movie coming November 6th! Watch the trailer video to get a Woodstock Follower (this one’s 3D, unlike the one released as a prize for members back when Great Pumpkin Island launched).

Also, for Poptropica’s mobile app players, there’s an ad for View-Master! To get the prizes, you’ll have to complete a minigame where you find all of the reels. The prizes are are a View-Master Power and an Explorer Costume. For the Viewmaster Power, click “Action” to see a few sights.

Hey Poptropicans! Spooky spectacles are afoot!

Black Widow has been hinting at something to come to the Photo Booth: “It might not be a bad idea to start practicing your Halloween photos in the Photo Booth. But perhaps we’ve said too much… for now.” Are the Creators trying to one-up us with a Halloween contest of their own??

Whatever’s up with that, it can’t hurt to make something cool with the Halloween props in the Photo Booth on Home Island, because it might just win you a free membership if you enter the PHB’s 7th Annual Halloween Contest! It doesn’t end ’til Halloween. Check out this PHB post for all the details!

There’s also a Magnus Chase ad on Main Street of Mythology Island. (Magnus Chase is a new book series by Rick Riordan.) To win this mini-game, just run up to the top-right corner and hop into the blue portal! Watch out for the Ratatosk and raven along the way.

When you get there, you’ll win a Ratatosk Follower and a costume (Sam for girls; Blitzen for boys)!

Plus, album photos for Timmy Failure Island (walkthrough here) are now available! The island came out a month ago for members without photos, but better late than never – although, why does only one picture get a caption? 😛

In other news, Poptropica’s Twitter is no longer in the hands of Poptropica CEO Jess Brallier! According to this tweet, someone else on the Poptropica team now manages all their social media. Hmm.

Another tweet from Poptropica tells us that there’s been an update in Realms: “Monsters now eat, can become nicer, and will drop Poptanium when full!” Check out our Poptropica Realms Guide for more tips and tricks about Realms!
