Mixels II: The Merry Mixening

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with another piece of Poptropica news.

Remember in one of my first PHB posts, whenever I covered an ad for the LEGO Mixels? Well, the ad has returned, in order to accommodate the 3 new tribes put into the waves! This includes the Munchos, the Glorp Corp and the Constructos! Note that it’s for boys only.

Upon entering the ad building, you’ll find yourself greeted by the Munchos leader, Snax. Walk to his right and you can collect the green Dribbal Follower –

– as well as the purple Snax Toss Power! (Thanks to Slippery Raptor for the gifs!)

Now that you’ve gotten your prizes, it’s time to head up top and collect your masks! There’s one for each Mixels tribe, and they’re only here for a limited time, so get them while they’re available!

In other news, four Christmas costumes are back in the Store! They are the Candy Cane, Snowman, Elf (red for girls, green for boys), and Holiday Ball (comes in red, green, and blue). The first two are 75 credits, while the latter two are free (unless you’re a member, in which case they’re all free).

They’re not new, but it’s been a while since they’ve appeared in the Store, so grab ’em if you like! (Thanks to Hyper Gamer and Daisy for the tip.)

Well, that’s all for now! Stay popping, Poptropicans, and look out for something big dropping from me and some other members of the PHB this holiday season!

Advertisements, Escape from Pelican Rock Island, Sneak Peeks

Dogs on the scent, pumpkins for all, and the return of Cosmoe!

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with some Poptropica news. First off, the Creators have posted a picture on the blog of a very familiar Poptropica character being chased by what appears to be a K9 officer…

oliver

Yes, this dog happens to be chasing Oliver, from the Poptropica graphic novel! Could some of the Mystery of the Map characters be making an appearance in Escape from Pelican Rock? To me, there’s a small chance, since it was previously teased that Dr. Hare could be in the Island as well. But, then again, they may very well not be.

Second of all, perhaps to celebrate the recent release of the Peanuts Movie (or not, they didn’t say), the Creators have made Great Pumpkin Island available for all! How long this will last is unknown as of now, but non-members can now once again get their fill of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the gang!

Charlie has eyes on the back of his head.

Finally, the ad for Galactic Hot Dogs is now back on Main Street! Could this mark the return of the heroes of GHD for a second shot at making a (hopefully better) Island? Only time will tell. In any case, you can read more about this ad which has appeared before in this PHB post. Customize costumes, shoot at Jacks, and talk to the GHD characters!

Anyway, that’s all for now! Stay popping, Poptropicans, and don’t forget, things are heating up over at my webseries, stupidninjas! We’re around halfway through the season now, and new episodes come out every Tuesday, with some surprise releases popping up really whenever I feel like it. Come check it out, and if you like what you see, stay! I’d be happy to have you!

App, Ghost Story Island, Night Watch Island

Great Scott! Pets have arrived on the Poptropica app!

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with some Poptropican news!

First off, happy Back to the Future Day! It was 30 years ago today that Marty McFly, Doc Brown and that other third girl arrived on this very day in the future!

Poptropica even made a graphic to celebrate, featuring a Poptropican-ized Marty (which I’d love to have available as a costume, by the way). A couple of PHB authors also made graphics for the occasion, featuring the DeLorean parked on Night Watch Island. Check them out!

Next, the Creators have announced that the Poptropica app users can now unlock mobile-exclusive pets! For $0.99, you can pick up the Pets Pack which features a cat, dog, and owl (all wearable features, not followers).

Also, the Import Your Desktop Look feature is now here for iOS and Android users, as well as Timmy Failure Island which is available as a free download!

Plus, Poptropica tweeted a random bit of Ghost Story Island trivia: the voice who creepily asks, “Are you looking for someone?” is Creator Dr. Lange, whose Poptropican is seen on Virus Hunter Island!

Well, that’s all for now! Stay popping, Poptropicans! I’ve gotta go back to 1985, or else this old guy who dragged me to a mall is going to die! Wow, that sounds kind of dark when it’s taken out of context…

Reviews, Timmy Failure Island

PHB Review: Timmy Failure Island

Note: The opinions expressed in this review represent those of the author only.

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Blake here, with a little something different for you guys. I’m actually going to be reviewing the most recent Island: Timmy Failure! Without further ado, let’s jump right in!

timmyfailurereview

Of course, today I’m reviewing Timmy Failure Island. And my verdict? I absolutely loved it. It was exactly like one of the books! You know, those books I TOTALLY read before the week prior to the Island coming out… Yeah.

The writing was spectacular, and it really felt like I became a character. Getting to interact with Timmy and the rest of the gang was amazing, and way better than that other book themed Island I hate with every fibre of my body… LOOKING AT YOU, COSMOE!

Anyway, I guess it’s time I break into my literal review of Timmy Failure Island

Story: 4.5/5

The story for this island was good, but it wasn’t the best either. The Creators did an excellent job making you feel like you were a part of the Island’s story, and I loved seeing that from a book themed island.

Characters: 3/5

For an island based on Timmy Failure, we really didn’t see much of Timmy. Even his polar bear sidekick got more screentime. In my opinion, if you’re going to make a book themed Island, I’d suggest focusing more on the main character of the island, which in this one we only really communicated with through his detective log.

Art Direction: 5/5

For a book themed Island, the art in this was spectacular. It really immersed you in Timmy’s world, taking you from his house, to the zoo, to the offices of Corrina Corrina. I expect to see more of this type of art in the future.

Well, that’s my review! I feel like for a first time, I did a pretty good job. Anyway, stay popping, Poptropicans!

Okay, if you’re actually still reading this, I wanted to tell you about my new webseries, StupidNinjas! I made it back when I was 11, and I’m bringing back for a revamped Season 1! Episodes 1 and 2 are out now, and I plan to have a new episode out every Tuesday! Come check it out, I’d love to have you!

Popspiracy Theories

Blake Pops a Theory: the Fallen Earth Theory

What’s popping, Poptropicans? Yes, it’s me! I’ve been gone for over a month now. Did you miss me? So, for my first post back, I’ve decided to do a theory – complete with a new graphic!

blake pops a theory

Today’s theory is one made by myself, entitled the Fallen Earth Theory. It actally does kind of play off of the Poptropica Parallel Theory from Episode One. Now, in that episode, I remarked how a mysterious benefactor was the one who gave us the blimp. But who, or what, is our benefactor? The answer?

It’s simple: Our benefactor is our future self from Time Tangled Island.

You see, this is all related to the dimensions theory, as well as a sort of timeline ordeal. You see, I believe that our future self is our benefactor. But Blake, you may say. How can it be him, if we saved the future? It’s simple.

We meddled in time, and the future seen at Time Tangled’s beginning? It was caused  by us.

This works because of the Butterfly Effect, which states there is a 1 in 10 chance of something messing up due to time travel. So, back to the theory. The future us gives us the blimp, as a way of stopping us from saving the future. But Blake, you may say. Isn’t that a paradox? To which I say:

IT’S A KIDS’ GAME IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE 100% ACCURATE BECAUSE MY MOM SAID SO

But in all due seriousness, what if the reason we’re able to travel to various time periods in Time Tangled Island and various other islands is due to our meddling in time? What if the timeline in which we saved the future was rewritten, due to our own trying to save it in another? Tell me what you think in the comments below!

In other news, I’m planning on starting a monthly sort of mail series! You’ll usually find them, if I ever get around to checking my inbox, at the bottom of my posts. You can email me over at [email protected]! Let’s see those submissions roll in!

Well anyway, that’s it for now! Stay popping, Poptropicans.
