24 Carrot Island, Bonus Items, Membership, Store

Coming soon to 24 Carrot Island: Beta Carrotene!

Hey, guys, BT here with a special piece of news: I looked on the 24 Carrot Island island page and I found this little thing added:

Beta Carrotene

Turns out the pink jumpsuit from earlier sneak peeks is the Members Only Beta Tester costume:

So… members can be beta testers now?! Holy slice of carrot cake, this sounds exciting! Well, from the sounds of this, it’ll be the original 24 Carrot Island quest except with a soundtrack, a bigger screen, and… “better navigation”. Oh great, don’t tell me the common room cursor is going to be a part of this…

Anyhoo, it looks like for right now, the soundtrack would be exculsively for 24 Carrot Island, but who knows if the Creators would ever make beta versions of other popular islands? Only time will tell, I guess.

UPDATE (Fuzzy-B): The Poptropica homepage now has a banner for the upcoming 24 Carrot beta!

Sound: Poptropica’s Biggest Makeover?

Hey guys, BT here. Now, I’m just shocked at this video. Shocked in a happy way. VERY SHOCKED.

Wow, I did NOT see that coming. Whew. Full sound and musicย in Poptropica after 5 and a half years… and with a full screen at that!

This isย just stunning. So far, 24 Carrot Island’s redux seems epic (I’m loving the music and the effects of the crows and the crowbar and everything.)

I think this was the reason why we haven’t heard much of Virus Hunter Island in a while. I’m super pumped about this.ย This is a really big piece of news here, peeps.

Hey everyone, Slanted Fish here:

The addition of music and more sound effects in Poptropica sounds great to me as well! It’s definitely been a long time coming. Anyway, here’s a bit more ear-related news for you: when Dr. Hare’s Lair reaches 7,500 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO, we’ll be getting this Dr. Hare Ears Power!

Now we’ll definitely be well-equipped for when this big sound update comes out! Notice the new menu icon in the video as well! Plus, as Silver Wolf pointed out in the comments, the trusty blue/green arrow has been replaced with the common room cursor! The general consensus in the comments for that is… that’s a bad move. That cursor’s pretty annoying, and jumping around with it just isn’t the same.

Well, I’m looking forward to hearing more about what’s up in Poptropica. (Pun intended, of course!)

Monster Carnival Island

The Mystery Revisited

Not everybody knows it by name, but a lot of long-time players know it very well. It’s a something.

It’s a forgotten something. It’s a wonderful something. It’s a curious something. It’s a spooky something. It’s a festive something. It’s a mysterious something. It’s aย whimsical something. It’s an amusing something. It’s a monsterous something.

It’s the carnival. Of monsters. Monster Carnival.ย Yup. A ringmaster to lead them all in a circus. It would’ve been dazzling! It would’ve been wonderous! It would’ve been all this…

… if it wasn’t taken off the map. (Okay, I’ll stop talking like a ringleader now.)

Monster Carnival had always been one of the greatest mysteries in Poptropica. It was an island that was put on the map back when Time Tangled (back then called Time Twisted) Island had a coming soon sign. I heard old tales of this mysterious island, although I never was a witness to the events. One day, Monster Carnival mysteriously vanished from the map, replaced by 24 Carrot Island. If you want to read more about this mystery, check out the PHB’s Mystery of Monster Carnival page!

However, Captain Crawfish made a curious post today about some old notes he found in his notebook:

One from the archivesย

Digging through my desk today, I found an old notebook. Inside I saw some long-forgotten ideas for a Poptropica Island.

This is probably from late 2007 or 2008, right after Poptropica got started. As we developed it a little more, the “Haunted Amusement Park” took on a slightly different form (and name), but it didn’t end up becoming a real Island.

You never know, I guess.

CAPTAIN CRAWFISH

The Creators seem to be recognizing that us Poptropica fans are curious about this never-released island, and now we know that the original title of this island, before Monster Carnival, was Haunted Amusement Park.

Also, there’s some interesting notes on here- the column on the left talks about some of the things that would’ve been in the island (both circus and amusement park related), and the right side seems to talk about other things, information.

“Ringmaster has cursed/enslaved zombie carnival workers.”

Is that a good or bad thing?ย To me, that doesn’t sound veryย good. ๐Ÿ˜

“Scare him into a cage? Make him eat cotton candy?”

“Horror-themed park infiltrated by real zombies.”

Wait… so Monster Carnival might have not started out as real monster-infiltrated? ๐Ÿ˜

“The ringmaster has lost prized possession and is withdrawn, moody. Prized possession is bullhorn.”

Wow. This is some pretty good information that the Creators slipped to us. And Captain Crawfish’s last words sound a little strange to me:

You never know, I guess.

That sounds… like… could it be? Could the Creators be taking a closer look at this? Could they have realized our true curiosity of Monster Carnival? Could, if even possible, it be that they might be planning to go back to it?

We’llย never know- until we know for sure.

Back Lot Island, Sneak Peeks

Kirk Strayer in 3-D!

Hey guys, BT here. Now should I start with the joking or non-joking part? I’ll start with the (possibly joking) part.

Captain Crawfish has announced Poptropica 3D HD. Or is it HD 3D? Whatever.

And 3D images from Skullduggery Island are there.

Andย low-priced $999.95 3D glasses. (Shipping and handling not included; available 1/01/14)

And suppossedly Jeff Kinney “approves” in a fake-looking quote.

Now, before you break your piggy banks, I’m pleased to remind you of today’s date: April 1st. There. Put the hammers down. Good. Besides, I have a pair of 3-D glasses stashed in a DVD that works with that image and for only $20 something dollars.

But like the nose thing last year, I don’t think this is really happening. I think this is the Creators way of mocking technology with its HD and 3D yakkity yak these days. XD

Now, not everything is a joke today. I actually found a promotion for Back Lot Island in the weirdest spot.

So I wasย wandering around on Night Watch Island when I encountered an ad.

No. It wasnโ€™t an ordinary ad, though.

Soโ€ฆ this is new. The Creatorsย using the advertising spot to take a picture with Back Lot Islandโ€™s Kirk Strayer: well-known actor since 2 weeks ago. If you talk to him, heโ€™ll say:

So you enterโ€ฆ

Those seem like epic images. And you click take photoโ€ฆ andย a new photo is added to your album!

Now, Iย think there are a bunch of possibilities for your picture. Here they are:

Well…

…on second thought, I think this is the only result you get. I laughed at this, considering the epic preview images in the first screen when you first enter XD.

Oh well. At least we finally know who Kirk Strayer is. But what will go on with him in Back Lot Island? Only time will tell.

Poptropica Books Updates (Island Creator Kit cover and Poptopics)

Island creator kit

Hey guys, BT here with a couple of new updates regarding 2013ย Poptropica books.

First ofย all, the book Island Creatorย Kit by Mitch Krpata (aka Hades) now has a cover! You can see the image to the right.

Secondly, I found out about some more books on the Barnes and Noble website (I’m unsure if anybody saw this before me, sorry!), part of a series called Poptopics. They don’t have covers yet, by the way:

Poptopics #1- Mythology:

Introducing an exciting new line of nonfiction titles inspired by the world of Poptropica.

Many of the Poptropica islands feature stories based around different Mythologies, but whatโ€™s presented on the screen is far from the whole story. This 64-page nonfiction book introduces kids to the bigger world of Mythology in a fun and engaging way.

Poptopics #2- Space Travel:

Introducing an exciting new line of nonfiction titles inspired by the world of Poptropica.

The Poptropica island Lunar Colony presents a fun, but fictional view of space travelโ€”however, the origins of that story are based in fact. This 64-page nonfiction book introduces kids to the history and current advancements of space travel in a fun and engaging way.

These two new books are probably going to be like the Magic Tree House Fact Tracker series, with that it gives background information on what is presented in Poptropica. For the Mythology one, they’ll probably talk about the mythologies some Poptropica islands are based around on, such as the Scandinavian woodland creatures of Twisted Thicket, and of course, the Grecian gods and monsters of Mythology Island. And for the space travel one, they’ll probably talk about how space travel works in real life, and how some things compare to our adventures in Lunar Colony.

Unlike the other 2013ย books (Lunar Colony, Cryptids Island,ย Island Creator Kit, and Friendย Handbook)ย , the Poptopic books are schedualed to be released October 17, 2013.

So what do you guys think?
